Abstract

To provide a water heater capable of properly determining drive combustion of a burner without erroneously determining occurrence of lifting of flame as normal drive combustion.SOLUTION: A flame rod 2 of a water heater WH is mounted on a side wall portion 80a of a case 8 surrounding a combustion area CA in a state that an insulator portion 20 is positioned at a downstream side in a combustion gas flowing direction with respect to a burner port plate 4 of a burner B, and a core wire portion 21 has an extension portion 21b extending from the insulator portion 20 toward the burner port plate 4, and a tip-side portion 21a positioned at a tip side with respect to the extension portion 21b. In the combustion gas flowing direction, the tip side portion 21a of the core wire portion 21 is opposed to at least one of a plurality of burner ports 40, and the extension portion 21b is not opposed to any of the plurality of burner ports 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
