Abstract

An electronic cigarette (3) is disclosed having an electric heater (10) for heating an aerosol-forming substrate to generate an inhalable aerosol. A control circuit (16) is provided for controlling the supply of power to the electric heater (10). A first battery (1) has a first operating voltage above a first threshold when fully charged, and the first battery (1) powers the control circuit (16) in use. A second battery (2) has a second operating voltage below the first threshold when fully charged, and the second battery (2) powers the electric heater (10) in use.
