Abstract

To provide a power control device and a power control method capable of ensuring a power storage amount of a backup power supply according to a condition of a vehicle or a condition around the vehicle.SOLUTION: A power supply control device according to an embodiment is installed in a vehicle having an automatic driving function. The power control device includes a controller. The controller causes a backup power supply to perform backup control when a main power supply fails, starts charging the backup power supply when the power storage amount of the backup power supply decreases to a charging start threshold or lower, and finishes charging when the power storage amount reaches a target power storage amount. The controller executes promotion control to increase the power storage amount of the backup power supply when the condition of the vehicle or the condition around the vehicle is a condition that impedes the completion of backup control by the backup power supply.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
