Abstract

Infusion pumps and medical infusion systems that increase patient mobility. [Solution] An infusion pump for delivering fluid comprising: a housing having an inlet and an outlet; a spike member at the inlet defining a portion of a fluid channel fluidly connected to the inlet and the outlet; a drive system for pumping fluid through the spike member and out the outlet of the housing, the drive system operating at a plurality of predetermined discrete flow rates; a plurality of flow indicator elements indicating a selected flow rate value for the drive system from among the plurality of predetermined discrete flow rates, each representing one of the plurality of predetermined discrete flow rates for the drive system; and a controller communicating with the drive system and the plurality of flow indicator elements, wherein the controller selectively controls the drive system to operate at one of the plurality of predetermined discrete flow rates and activates one of the plurality of flow indicator elements representing the selected flow rate value for the drive system.
