AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional packaging members with buffer members fail to adequately protect objects with weaker structural portions from impact damage, as the buffer members deform and still transmit the impact to these vulnerable areas.
Method used
A packaging member design featuring a support member with a first side plate, a cushioning member, and an impact-dispersing plate that is wider and more rigid than the cushioning member, dispersing impacts across a broader area to protect weaker object surfaces.
Benefits of technology
Effectively suppresses damage to objects with lower strength areas by distributing impact forces over a wider area, reducing the risk of breakage.

Abstract
To easily prevent damage to a packaged object having a portion with lower strength than other portions.SOLUTION: A packing material includes: a support member that includes a packaging case and a first side plate that is housed in the packaging case and faces one side face of a packaged object in a first direction; a buffer member that is provided between the packaging case and the first side plate and buffers a shock applied to the packaged object from the first direction; and a shock dispersion plate disposed between the first side plate and the buffer member, being wider than a contact area with the buffer member, and elongated in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The shock dispersion plate has a rigidity that does not deform due to the shock from the buffer member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
