AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing ground power feeding devices require a magnetic field intensity detector with a wide dynamic range to accurately detect the magnetic fields generated by multiple power feeding coils, which is impractical and costly.

Method used

A ground power feeding device that uses a diagnostic system with multiple magnetic field strength detectors and a controller to diagnose abnormalities in resonance circuits based on the detected magnetic field strength, allowing for accurate detection even with detectors having a narrow dynamic range by strategically positioning sensors and adjusting reference ranges based on coil proximity.

Benefits of technology

Enables effective and efficient detection of magnetic fields from multiple power transmission coils using detectors with limited dynamic range, reducing costs and complexity while maintaining diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract

To appropriately detect the intensity of a magnetic field generated by a plurality of power transmission coils.SOLUTION: A ground power supply device 1 supplies electric power to a vehicle 5 having a power receiving unit 14 in a non-contact manner, and includes: a plurality of resonance circuits 43 each including a power transmission coil 44 for transmitting electric power to the vehicle; a power supply device for supplying AC power to the resonance circuit; a plurality of magnetic field intensity detectors 33 for detecting intensity of a magnetic field generated by supplying the AC power to the resonance circuit; and a diagnostic device 34 for diagnosing abnormality of the resonance circuit or the power receiving unit based on intensity of the detected magnetic field. When AC power is supplied to the resonance circuit including some power transmission coils, except for the power transmission coil disposed adjacent to each magnetic field intensity detector, out of the plurality of power transmission coils, the diagnostic device diagnoses abnormality related to the power receiving unit of the vehicle located opposed to the resonance circuit to which the AC power is supplied or the power transmission coil of the resonance circuit based on intensity of the magnetic field detected by the magnetic field intensity detector.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
