[Claim 1] A teaching material for practicing writing, comprising a plate-like body and a thin plate-like body, wherein the plate-like body has grooves corresponding to the shape of the characters, and the depth of the grooves is formed such that they are deeper in areas where strong pressure is applied when writing the characters and shallower in areas where weak pressure is applied. The thin plate has a region that is the same shape as the character, and the shading of the region is such that it is darker where the pressure applied when writing the character is strong and lighter where the pressure is weak. The character practice material has a mechanism that allows the thin plate to be placed on the plate such that the outer edge of the groove of the plate and the outer edge of the region of the thin plate overlap.
