Description

Technical Field

[0003] , ,

[0001] (Cross - reference to related applications) This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63 / 363,775, filed Apr. 28, 2022, and incorporates that application by reference in its entirety as part of this specification.

[0002] (Technical Field) The present disclosure generally relates to fastening systems that may be found in disposable absorbent articles such as hybrid diapers (or hybrid nappies), as well as other applications, specifically fastening assemblies. Also disclosed are articles including the fastening system and methods of using the fastening system.

Background Art

[0003] (Background) Conventionally, baby diapers were one of two types: washable cloth diapers or diapers made of synthetic materials (or synthetic substances). Currently, the majority of baby diapers purchased are disposable types. Existing disposable diapers have a liquid - impermeable outer layer, an inner non - woven liner, and an integral layer (or essential layer) of absorbent material sandwiched between the inner and outer layers. Standard disposable diapers cannot be reused or recycled. If a diaper gets wet or soiled, the entire diaper is discarded. Thus, a single user will use several diapers in a day. Therefore, the single - use nature of disposable diapers is associated with the creation of large amounts of waste as well as a significant purchase cost.

[0004] On the other hand, cloth diapers are environmentally friendly because they can be washed and reused. Cloth diapers are intended to have a long usable life. In the case of children, the usable life is typically the period from birth until the child is trained and no longer needs diapers. Thus, there is little to no need to change them for each child. However, cloth diapers have some disadvantages. Machine-washable cloth diapers require considerable time and effort to wash. In addition, the initial cost of purchasing good quality, well-fitting, washable diapers is considerably higher than the initial cost of disposable diapers.

[0005] To address these issues, various diaper systems have been developed that combine some features of disposable diapers with those of cloth, reusable diapers. These systems provide diapers that are partially reusable and partially disposable. Some conventional hybrid diaper systems include two parts (or components or elements): a reusable, non-absorbent shell and a separate disposable, absorbent pad in the central crotch area, which is attached to the shell by an attachment system such as adhesive tape or buttons. Other hybrid diaper systems have three parts: a reusable, non-absorbent shell, a pouch that attaches to the outer shell, and a disposable, absorbent pad that can be inserted into the pouch. The pouch and the disposable absorbent pad are typically of roughly the same length and width, and the pouch typically has an elastic border. Thus, there is no need for a mechanism to attach the disposable pad to the other parts of the diaper system, as the pad is held within the pouch.

[0006] Current systems for attaching disposable absorbent pads to diaper shells are associated with several disadvantages. Conventional systems utilizing adhesive attachment systems require the use of a liner on the adhesive. This adds complexity to the handling of the diaper system, necessitates liner disposal, and is not environmentally friendly. Furthermore, conventional systems leave adhesive residue on the outer shell when the disposable pad is removed from the diaper shell.

[0007] While addressing the issues associated with conventional hybrid diaper systems, the need remains for alternative mechanisms to securely attach disposable pads to other components of the hybrid diaper system. In particular, the need remains for fastening assemblies to securely attach disposable pads to other components of the hybrid diaper system. [Overview of the project] [Means for solving the problem]

MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

[0018] (Detailed Description) Aspects of the present invention are disclosed in the following description and related drawings directed to particular embodiments of the present disclosure. Alternative embodiments can be provided without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure. In addition, well-known components of exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure will not be described in detail or will be omitted so as not to obscure the relevant details of the present disclosure.

[0019] As used herein, the vocabulary "exemplary" means "as an example, an instance, functioning as an explanation". The embodiments described herein are not limiting, but rather are merely exemplary. It is understood that the described embodiments are not necessarily to be construed as more preferable or advantageous than other embodiments. Further, the terms "embodiments of the present disclosure", "embodiments", "disclosure" or "invention" do not require that all embodiments of the present disclosure include the recited features, advantages or modes of operation.

[0020] As described above in this specification, conventional hybrid diaper systems have drawbacks such as handling complexity, lack of sustainability due to the presence of liners that must be removed and discarded, and adhesive residue remaining on the outer shell. The fastening system of this disclosure addresses at least one of these challenges. The fastening system is linerless and thus not only sustainable but also addresses the challenges of storage and use of linerless attachment systems. Disposable diaper pads are typically stacked next to each other when stored in their packaging. If the adhesive used to attach disposable diaper pads to the disposable diaper shell remains exposed during storage, each disposable diaper pad will unnecessarily stick to the adjacent pad. This makes it difficult to separate the diaper pads and can damage adjacent diaper pads if force is applied to separate them. The disclosed fastening system protects the attachment adhesive until it is intentionally exposed in the preparation of use of the diaper pad.

[0021] The fastening system includes at least one coupling component, which includes at least one fastening portion and at least one folded portion. The fastening portion has a first surface and an opposing second surface. An adhesive is disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion of the coupling component. Thus, the fastening portion is attachable via the adhesive to a substrate, such as the surface of a disposable diaper insert or the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. In some embodiments, the adhesive disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion of the coupling component is attachable to the surface of a disposable diaper insert or the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. In some embodiments, the adhesive disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion of the coupling component is attachable to the surface of a disposable diaper insert. In some embodiments, the adhesive disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion is attachable to the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion is continuous. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion is discontinuous. For example, any suitable adhesive can be used, such as a non-pressure sensitive adhesive (or non-adhesive or non-bonding agent) such as a hot-melt adhesive or a heat-activated adhesive, or a pressure-sensitive adhesive (or pressure-sensitive adhesive or pressure-sensitive bonding agent) such as a hot-melt rubber-based solvent-based acrylic, water-based acrylic, or a solvent-based rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive. In some embodiments, the adhesive on the second surface of the fixing part is a non-pressure sensitive adhesive. In some embodiments, the adhesive on the second surface of the fixing part is a pressure-sensitive adhesive. In some embodiments, the fixing part and the folded part of the fixing system are a continuous single part. In some embodiments, the fixing part and the folded part are separate parts that are attached to each other. The fixing part and the folded part can be attached directly by any suitable means, such as bonding, laminating, or welding. The fixed portion and folded portion of the connecting component can be indirectly attached by at least one further component, such as a U-bond. In some embodiments, the folded portion is a U-bond attached to the fixed portion of the connecting component. Each distal end of the fixed portion of the connecting component has a distal region. The folded portion has a distal region extending toward its distal end, the “distal end” being the end of the folded portion furthest from the fixed portion of the connecting component. The distal region of the folded portion includes a first surface and an opposing second surface. The folded portion of the connecting component is oriented such that at least a portion of the folded portion extends over at least a portion of the distal region of the fixed portion of the connecting component. The extension of the folded portion over at least a portion of the distal region of the fixed portion can be achieved by any suitable means, such as at least one fold of the connecting component. In some embodiments, at least one fold is located at or near the point where the fixed portion of the connecting component meets the fold of the connecting component. At least one fold can have any suitable configuration. In some embodiments, at least one fold is formed on a connecting component formed from a single continuous portion consisting of a fixing component and a folded portion. In some embodiments, the fixing component and the folded portion are independent portions attached to each other. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the folded portion is parallel to or substantially parallel to the distal region of the fixing component of the connecting component. This arrangement allows the fixing system to have at least one of a flatter profile or a smaller thickness.

[0022] The bonding component can be made from any suitable material, such as nonwoven fabric, nonwoven film laminate, film-like structure, woven fabric, or any combination thereof. In all embodiments described, the bonding component may be any one of the described materials or any other suitable material.

[0023] In some embodiments, the fixing system includes a single coupling component. In some embodiments, the single coupling component includes one fold at one end of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the single coupling component includes two folds, one at each end of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the fixing system includes one or more coupling components. In some embodiments, the fixing system includes two coupling components, namely a first coupling component and a second coupling component. In some embodiments, the first coupling component and the second coupling component are located adjacent to each other. “Adjoining” as used herein means next to or adjacent to. In some embodiments, a space exists between adjacent coupling components. In some embodiments, no space exists between adjacent coupling components. In some embodiments, the first coupling component and the second coupling component are arranged to mirror (or substantially mirror) each other. “Mirroring” as used herein means that the two components are identical but oriented in a direction opposite to the other component, as would occur if one component were reflected in a mirror. The symmetry of the mirrored first and second coupling components makes the processing (or fabrication) of the fixed system easier and more efficient, but it will be understood that the first and second coupling components can be different from each other and, in some embodiments, are not mirrored from each other.

[0024] The fastening system also includes at least one fastening zone. At least one fastening zone is attachable to a substrate. Thus, the fastening zone can be used to attach the fastening system to a substrate, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper system or the surface of a hybrid insertion pad. In some embodiments, the fastening zone is attachable to the surface of a disposable diaper insert or the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. In some embodiments, the fastening zone is attachable to the surface of a disposable diaper insert. In some embodiments, the fastening zone is attachable to the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. The fastening zone may include any suitable material for attaching the fastening system to the substrate, such as an adhesive, a plurality of hooks, or both. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes an adhesive. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes a plurality of hooks. The hooks can be attached by any suitable means. In some embodiments, the hooks are attached by ultrasonic sealing, welding, or extrusion lamination. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes an adhesive and a plurality of hooks. Any suitable adhesive can be used for the fastening zone, such as the pressure-sensitive adhesive or non-pressure-sensitive adhesive described herein.

[0025] A fastening system can have different modes depending on the positioning, mounting, or extension of different components of the fastening system. Different modes can be used depending on whether the fastening zone is protected before mounting or exposed for mounting. Protection and exposure of the fastening zone can be achieved in various ways. In some embodiments, the fastening system is in protective mode. When the fastening system is in "protective mode," the fastening zone is oriented in such a way that it is protected from premature adhesion to the substrate. In other words, the fastening zone is protected from adhering to the substrate until the fastening system is ready for mounting to the substrate. In some embodiments, when in protective mode, the fastening zone is oriented towards the first surface of the fastening portion of the bonding component. In some embodiments, when in protective mode, the fastening zone is removably attached to the first surface of the fastening portion of the bonding component. In some embodiments, the fastening system is in fastening mode. In "fastening mode," the fastening zone is exposed from its protected area and thus ready for mounting to the substrate. In some embodiments, when in the fastening mode, the fastening zone faces the same direction as the first surface of the fixed portion of the coupling component. In some embodiments, when in the fastening mode, the fastening zone is not attached to any component other than the component on which it resides.

[0026] The location of the fastening zone will depend on the configuration (or arrangement or structure) of the fastening system. In some embodiments, at least one fastening zone is located in at least a portion of the distal region of the folded portion of the coupling component, or in at least a portion of the fastening component. In some embodiments, at least one fastening zone is located in at least a portion of the distal region of the folded portion of the coupling component, and at least one of the portion of the fastening component.

[0027] In some embodiments, the fastening zone is located in at least a portion of the distal region of the folded portion of the fastening component. When the fastening system is in protective mode, the folded portion of the fastening component is oriented so that at least a portion of the folded portion extends to cover at least a portion of the distal region of the fixed portion. In this orientation, the fastening zone is located in at least a portion of the second surface of the distal region of the folded portion of the fastening component. Thus, the fastening zone is directed towards or facing the first surface of the fixed portion of the fastening component. In this way, premature adhesion of the fastening zone to the substrate can be prevented. The region between the second surface of the folded portion and the first surface of the fixed portion of the fastening component functions as a protective region for the fastening zone. In some embodiments, in protective mode, at least a portion of the folded portion is parallel to or substantially parallel to the distal region of the fixed portion of the fastening system. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes a plurality of hooks. In some embodiments, the fastening component is made of a nonwoven material and the fastening zone includes a plurality of hooks. In some embodiments, the fastening component is made of a nonwoven material and the fastening zone includes an adhesive and a plurality of hooks. The hooks of the fastening zone are attached to the nonwoven material on the first surface of the fixing member of the fastening component, thereby protecting the fastening zone while the fastening system is in protective mode. As previously stated herein, the fastening component is not limited to nonwoven fabric. In some embodiments, the fastening component is made of at least one of nonwoven fabric, nonwoven film laminate, film-like structure, woven fabric, and any combination thereof. In some embodiments, an adhesive and a plurality of hooks are arranged on at least a portion of the first surface of the fixing portion of the fastening component. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes an adhesive and a plurality of hooks, and the adhesive and a plurality of hooks are arranged on at least a portion of the first surface of the fixing portion of the fastening component. The hooks of the fastening zone are attached to the hooks on the first surface of the fastening component, thereby protecting the fastening zone while the fastening system is in protective mode. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes an adhesive. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes a plurality of hooks. In some embodiments, the fastening zone includes an adhesive and a plurality of hooks. In some embodiments, where the fastening zone includes an adhesive, or an adhesive and a plurality of hooks, a release agent is placed on at least a portion of the first surface of the fixing portion of the binding component. Any suitable release agent can be used, for example, a silicone-based or fluorine-based release agent. The adhesive of the fastening zone adheres lightly to the release agent, thereby protecting the fastening zone while the fastening system is in protective mode. The release agent allows for the functional peeling of the fastening zone from the underlying layer, while simultaneously preventing damage to the underlying component caused by the peeling force of the fastening zone adhesive from the underlying layer, and also prevents undesirable flagging of the tape caused by premature peeling of the fastening zone from the underlying layer. When preparing the fastening system for use, the fastening zone is exposed from the protective area. This can be achieved, for example, by lifting the folded end of the binding component, thereby separating the fastening zone from the fixing portion of the binding component. With the fastening zone now exposed, the fastening system enters fastening mode, and the fastening zone can be attached to a substrate, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper system or the surface of a hybrid insertion pad. In some embodiments, the fastening zone is attached to the substrate by at least one of the fastening zone hooks and adhesive. In some embodiments, the fastening zone can be attached to the substrate by the fastening zone hooks, adhesive, or both.

[0028] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the folded portion of the connecting component is adhesive-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the second surface of the distal region of the folded portion is adhesive-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the folded portion of the connecting component is hook-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the second surface of the distal region of the folded portion of the connecting component is hook-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the folded portion of the connecting component is either hook-free or adhesive-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the second surface of the distal region of the folded portion is either adhesive-free or hook-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the folded portion of the connecting component is both hook-free and adhesive-free. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the second surface of the distal region of the folded portion is both adhesive-free and hook-free.

[0029] In some embodiments, the fastening system includes at least one fastening component, which includes at least one fastening portion including a first surface and an opposing second surface, and at least one folded portion including a distal region. Furthermore, in some of these embodiments, an adhesive may be disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion. The distal region of the folded portion may also include the first surface and the opposing second surface, and at least one fastening zone may be disposed on a portion of the distal region of the folded portion. The fastening zone can be attached to a substrate and may face the first surface of the fastening portion of the fastening component.

[0030] In some embodiments, the fastening system includes at least one binding component, which includes at least one fastening portion including a first surface and an opposing second surface, and at least one folded portion including a distal region. Furthermore, in some of these embodiments, an adhesive may be disposed on at least a portion of the second surface of the fastening portion. When the fastening system is prepared for use, the fastening zone is exposed from the protective area. This can be achieved by separating the fastening zone from the fastening portion of the binding component. With the fastening zone exposed, the fastening system enters fastening mode, and the fastening zone can be attached to a substrate, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper. The fastening zone can be attached to the substrate by at least one of the fastening zone hooks and adhesive. The flag prevention zone remains protected even in fastening mode, as the extension component remains attached to the fastening component. When preparing the fastening system for disposal, the fastening zone is detached from the surface to which it was attached, and the flag-preventing zone is exposed from its protective area. This can be achieved by separating the flag-preventing zone from the fastening components. With the flag-preventing zone now exposed, the fastening system enters extension mode, allowing the flag-preventing zone to be attached to a substrate, such as the outer surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad.

[0059] It will be understood that there are embodiments in which each side of the fixing system is not identical to the other side, in terms of the dimensions, arrangement, or presence or absence of certain components. For example, in some embodiments, at least one component on one side of the fixing system may be shorter than the corresponding component on the other side of the fixing system. In some embodiments, at least one component on one side of the fixing system may be longer than the corresponding component on the other side of the fixing system. In some embodiments, one side of the fixing system may include an extension component, while the other side does not.

[0060] Figure 8 illustrates several embodiments of a fastening system similar to that in Figure 6, including several mirrored components. In Figure 8, fastening zones 11A and 11B each contain adhesive 8, rather than adhesive and hook fastening zones, and the fastening system 1 includes a mirrored coupling component 2, fastening components 12A and 12B, and extension components 20A and 20B. The mirrored coupling component 2 is a single component having two mirrored fold-over portions 6A and 6B; on the other hand, the fastening system 1 includes two independent mirrored fastening components 12A and 12B, as well as two independent mirrored extension components 20A and 20B. Each side of the fastening device 1 is identical to the other side, but inverted as if reflected in a mirror.

[0061] In some embodiments, the flag prevention zone is located on at least a portion of the fixed portion of the bonding component. In some embodiments, when the fixing system is in protective mode, the extension component is oriented such that at least a portion of the bonding component extends over at least a portion of the extension component. In this orientation, the flag prevention zone is located on at least a portion of the second surface of the fixed portion of the bonding component. Thus, the flag prevention zone is directed toward the first surface of the extension component. In this way, the flag prevention zone is protected from premature adhesion to the substrate. The region between the second surface of the bonding component and the first surface of the extension component functions as a protective region for the flag prevention zone. In some embodiments, in protective mode, the extension component is positioned parallel or substantially parallel to the bonding component. The adhesive in the flag prevention zone causes the second surface of the fixed portion of the bonding component to adhere to the first surface of the extension component, thereby protecting the flag prevention zone while the fixing system is in protective mode. In some embodiments, a release agent is located on at least a portion of the first surface of the extension component. Any suitable release agent can be used, for example, a silicone-based or fluorine-based release agent. The anti-flag zone adhesive adheres lightly to the release agent while the fastening system is in protective mode, thus allowing functional removal of the anti-flag zone from the underlying extension components, while preventing damage to the underlying extension components caused by the removal force of the anti-flag zone adhesive from the underlying layer, and preventing undesirable flagging of the tape caused by premature removal of the anti-flag zone from the underlying layer. When the fastening system is to be prepared for use, the fastening zone is exposed from its area of protection. This can be achieved by separating the fastening zone from the fastening portion of the binding component. With the fastening zone now exposed, the fastening system enters fastening mode, and the fastening zone can be attached to a substrate, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper. The fastening zone can be attached to the substrate by at least one of the fastening zone hooks or adhesive. The anti-flag zone remains protected during fastening mode because the extension components remain attached to the binding component. When preparing an item to which the fastening system is attached for disposal, the fastening zone is peeled off from the surface to which it was attached, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper, and the flag-preventing zone is exposed from its protective area. This can be achieved by separating the flag-preventing zone from the extension component. With the flag-preventing zone now exposed, the fastening system enters extension mode and can attach the flag-preventing zone to a substrate, such as the outer surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad.

[0062] As illustrated in Figure 9, in some embodiments, the fastening system 1 includes a fastening portion 3 and two folded portions 6A and 6B. The fastening portion 3 of the fastening portion 2 includes a first surface 4 and an opposing second surface 5. The fastening portion 3 of the fastening portion 2 further includes a first distal region 14 and a second distal region 15 at opposing ends. The fastening portion 3 and the folded portions 6A and 6B are a continuous single portion. The fastening components 12A and 12B are respectively connected to the distal regions 7 of each folded portion 6A and 6B of the fastening component 2 by an adhesive 8. Each fastening component 12A and 12B includes a first surface 16 and an opposing second surface 17. The distal regions 7 of each folded portion 6A and 6B of the fastening component 2 include a first surface 9 and an opposing second surface 10. Displaced on the first surface 4 of the fastening component 2 is a release agent 18. Parts of each fastening component 12A and 12B have a fastening zone 11. The fastening zone 11 includes an adhesive 8 and a number of hooks 13. The fastening zone 11 is oriented toward the first surface 4 of the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2, and the fastening zone 11 is attached to the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2 by the adhesive 8 and hooks 13 of the fastening zone 11. Optionally, the fastening component 12 can be further attached to the connecting component 2 by the adhesive area 8 on the second surface 17 of each fastening component 12A and 12B, which is located between each fastening zone 11 and the attachment point of the fastening component 12 to the distal region 7 of the folded portion 6A and 6B of each fastening component 2. The fastening zone 11 can be attached by the adhesive 8 and hooks 13 of the fastening zone 11 to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad or the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. At least a portion of the second surface 5 of the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2 is covered with the adhesive 8. Two portions of the adhesive 8 form a flag prevention zone 25 on the bonding component 2. The two extension components 20A and 20B are each attached by the adhesive 8 to a portion of the second surface 5 of the fixing portion 3 of the bonding component 2. Each extension component 20A and 20B includes a first surface 23 and an opposing second surface 24, as well as an outwardly directed first distal region 26 and an inwardly directed second distal region 27.The second distal region 27 of each extension component 20A and 20B includes a folded portion 28. A release agent 18 is placed on the first surface 23 of each extension component 20A and 20B. Each flag prevention zone 25 on the connecting component 2 is oriented toward the first surface 23 of each extension component 20A and 20B, and each flag prevention zone 25 is attached to the release agent 18 on each extension component 20A and 20B by the adhesive 8 of the flag prevention zone 25. Each flag prevention zone 25 can be attached by the adhesive 8 of the flag prevention zone 25 to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. The adhesive 8 on the second surface 24 of each extension component 20A and 20B can be attached to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad.

[0063] Figure 10 illustrates an embodiment of the fastening system 1 as shown in Figure 9, wherein the fastening zone 11 on fastening components 12A and 12B contains adhesive 8, rather than being a fastening zone with adhesive and hooks.

[0064] Figure 11A illustrates an embodiment of the fastening system 1 similar to that described in Figure 9, where the fastening component 2 is made of a nonwoven fabric (visually represented as lines enclosing straight lines) without a release agent placed on it, the fastening system 1 is in protective mode, and each fastening zone 11 is protected between the second surface 17 of the corresponding fastening components 12A and 12B and the first surface 4 of the fastening portion 3 of the fastening component 2. The distal regions 7 of each folded portion 6A and 6B of the fastening component 2 are located parallel to the corresponding distal regions 14 and 15 of the fastening portion 3 of the fastening component 2. Figure 11B shows the fastening system 1 of Figure 11A separated from the first surface 4 of the fastening portion 3 of the fastening component 2. In this configuration, the folded portions 6A and 6B of the fastening component 2 are not located parallel to, or substantially not parallel to, the distal regions 14 and 15 of the fastening portion 3 of the fastening system 1. Similarly, the fastening components 12A and 12B are not located parallel to the fastening portion 3 of the fastening component 2. The anti-flagging zone 25 continues to attach the first surfaces 23 of each extension component 20A and 20B to the second surface 5 of the connecting component 2. The fastening zone 11 is exposed and can be attached to a substrate, for example, the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. Figure 11C shows the fastening system 1 of Figures 11A and 11B, where the fastening system 1 is in the extension mode. The folded portions 6A and 6B of each connecting component 2 are fully extended. The anti-flagging (or anti-flagging) zone 25 is separated from the first surfaces 23 of the extension components 20A and 20B, and the fastening system 1 is fully extended so that the exposed fastening zone 11 on the fastening components 12A and 12B, and the exposed anti-flagging zone 25, can be attached to a substrate, for example, the surface of a hybrid diaper pad, for disposal. In this configuration, the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2 is not positioned parallel or substantially parallel to at least a portion of the extension components 20A and 20B.

[0065] In some embodiments, the flag prevention zone is located on at least a portion of the folded portion of the coupling component. In this configuration, the folded portion of the coupling component has a distal region including a secondary folded portion. The secondary folded portion is attached to a fastening component of the fastening system. The secondary folded portion can be attached to the fastening component by any suitable means. In some embodiments, the first surface of the distal region of the secondary folded portion is attached to a second surface of the fastening component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component is at least the same length as the fastening portion of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component is the same length as the fastening portion of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component is longer than the fastening portion of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component is shorter than the fastening portion of the coupling component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component and the fastening portion of the coupling component are a single component. In some embodiments, the folded portion of the coupling component and the fastening portion of the coupling component are separate components that are attached to each other by any suitable means. In some embodiments, when the fastening system is in protective mode, the binding component fold is oriented such that at least a portion of the binding component fold extends onto the fastening component. In this orientation, the flag prevention zone is located on at least a portion of the second surface of the binding component fold. Thus, the flag prevention zone is directed toward the first surface of the fastening component. In this way, the flag prevention zone is protected from premature adhesion to the substrate. The region between the second surface of the binding component fold and the first surface of the fastening component functions as a protective region for the flag prevention zone. In some embodiments, in protective mode, the fastening component is positioned parallel to or substantially parallel to the binding component fold. The adhesive of the flag prevention zone adheres the second surface of the binding component fold to the first surface of the fastening component, thereby protecting the flag prevention zone while the fastening system is in protective mode. In some embodiments, a release agent is provided on at least a portion of the first surface of the fastening component. For example, any suitable release agent, such as a silicone-based or fluorine-based release agent, can be used. While the fastening system is in protective mode, the adhesive of the flag prevention zone lightly adheres to the release agent. When preparing the fastening system for use, the fastening zone is exposed from its protective area. This can be achieved by separating the fastening zone from the fastening portion of the binding component. With the fastening zone now exposed, the fastening system enters fastening mode, and the fastening zone can be attached to a substrate, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper. The fastening zone can be attached to the substrate by at least one of the hooks or adhesive of the fastening zone. The flag prevention zone remains protected during fastening mode because the folded portion of the binding component remains attached to the fastening component. When preparing the fastening system for disposal, for example, peeling the fastening zone from the surface to which it was attached, such as the shell of a hybrid diaper, exposes the flag prevention zone from its protective area. This can be achieved by separating the flag prevention zone from the fastening component. With the flag-prevention zone now exposed, the fastening system enters an extended mode, allowing the flag-prevention zone to be attached to a substrate, such as the outer surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad. Thus, even without a separate extended component, the extended fold of the connecting component, together with the extended fastening component, functions (or acts) as an extended component or system of the fastening system. Consequently, in some embodiments, the extended system includes at least a portion of the fold of the connecting component and a fastening component.

[0066] As illustrated in Figure 12, in some embodiments, the fastening system 1 includes a connecting component 2, which includes a fixing portion 3 and a folded portion 6, and a fastening component 12. The fixing portion 3 and the folded portion 6 of the connecting component 2 are separate parts. The fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2 has a first surface 4 and an opposing second surface 5. Adhesive 8 is placed on the second surface 5 of the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2. A portion of the adhesive 8 on the second surface 5 adheres the first distal region 14 of the fixing portion 3 of the connecting component 2 to the folded portion 6. The folded portion 6 of the connecting component 2 includes a distal region 7. The distal region 7 of the folded portion 6 includes a first surface 9 and an opposing second surface 10. The distal region 7 further includes a secondary folded portion 29 having a distal region 30. The fastening component 12 includes a first surface 16, an opposing second surface 17, a first distal region 21, and a second distal region 22. A portion of the distal region 30 of the secondary folded portion 29 is attached to the second surface 17 of the fastening component 12 by adhesive 8. A portion of the second surface 17 of the fastening component 12 is located as a fastening zone 11. The fastening zone 11 includes adhesive 8 and a number of hooks 13. The binding component 2 is made of nonwoven fabric (visually represented as lines enclosing a straight line). The fastening zone 11 is oriented towards the first surface 4 of the fixing portion 3 of the binding component 2, and the fastening zone 11 is attached to the fixing portion 3 of the binding component 2 by the adhesive 8 and hooks 13 of the fastening zone 11. The fastening zone 11 can be attached by the adhesive 8 and hooks 13 of the fastening zone 11 to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad or the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. The adhesive 8 on the second surface 5 of the fixing portion 3 of the binding component 2 can be attached to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insertion pad. A release agent 18 is positioned on a portion of the first surface 16 of the fastening component 12. A flag prevention zone 25 is positioned on a portion of the second surface 10 of the folded portion 6 of the connecting component 2. The flag prevention zone 25 contains an adhesive 8. The flag prevention zone 25 is oriented toward the first surface 16 of the fastening component 12, and the flag prevention zone 25 adheres to the release agent 18 on the first surface 16 of the fastening component 12 by the adhesive 8 of the flag prevention zone 25.The flag prevention zone 25 can be attached to a substrate (not shown), such as the surface of a hybrid diaper shell.

In some embodiments, a fastening system includes at least one of two coupling components, two fastening components, or two extension components. In some embodiments, at least one of the two coupling components, two fastening components, and two extension components mirrors each other or is substantially mirrored. However, it will be understood that there are embodiments in which each side of the fastening system is not identical to the other side, whether in terms of dimensions, arrangement of components, or presence of a particular component. For example, in some embodiments, at least one component on one side of the fastening system may be shorter than the corresponding component on the other side of the fastening system. In some embodiments, at least one component on one side of the fastening system may be longer than the corresponding component on the other side of the fastening system. In some embodiments, one side (or one side) of the fastening system may include a secondary fold and a flag prevention zone, while the other side (or the other side) does not.

[0069] As described above in this specification, there are several locations in the fixing system where an adhesive can be used. At any of these locations, a suitable adhesive can be used, for example, as described above herein. In some embodiments, different types of adhesives are used at different locations in the fixing system. In some embodiments, different types of adhesives are used at at least two locations in the fixing system. In some embodiments, the same type of adhesive is used at each location in the fixing system. In some embodiments, the same type of adhesive is used at at least two locations in the fixing system.

[0070] As described above, the release agent can be placed on any surface of the components of the fixing system. In some embodiments, the release agent is placed on at least one of the following: the first surface of the extension component, the first surface of the fixing portion of the bonding component, or the first surface of the bonding component.

[0071] Also disclosed are articles including a substrate to which the aforementioned fastening system is attached. Suitable substrates include hybrid diaper insert pads or hybrid diaper shells. The fastening system can be attached to the substrate in any suitable way by fastening zones or flag prevention zones, many of which are described herein. In some embodiments, the hybrid diaper insert pad includes leg cuffs to provide additional protection against soiling material on the hybrid diaper.

[0072] Also disclosed is a hybrid diaper including a diaper shell and the aforementioned hybrid diaper insert pad, wherein a fastening zone on the fastening system attaches the diaper shell to the fastening system.

[0073] Also disclosed are methods for using the fastening system of this disclosure. These methods include providing the fastening system. In some embodiments, the second surface of the fastening portion of the binding component is attached to a first substrate, such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insert pad. In some embodiments, the second surface of the extension component is attached to a first substrate, such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insert pad. The fastening zone is separated (or detached) from the first surface of the fastening portion of the binding component. In those embodiments, where a release agent is placed on the first surface of the fastening portion of the binding component, the fastening zone is separated from the release agent on the first surface of the fastening portion of the binding component. Separation of the fastening zone from the binding component exposes the fastening zone from its protective area. The exposed fastening zone can be attached to any suitable substrate. In some embodiments, the fastening zone is attached to a second substrate, such as the surface of a hybrid diaper shell. Thus, the fastening system can securely attach the hybrid diaper insert pad to the hybrid diaper shell.

[0074] In embodiments where the fastening system includes an extension component or a binding component with a secondary folded portion attached to the fastening component, the fastening system is made long enough to be used for preparing (or preparing) the hybrid diaper insert pad for disposal by being attached to the outer surface of the hybrid diaper insert pad. In some embodiments, after the hybrid diaper insert pad has been used, the fastening system is used to equip the hybrid diaper insert pad for disposal. The fastening zone is peeled off from a second substrate, such as the surface of the hybrid diaper shell. The flag-prevention zone is exposed. In some embodiments, the flag-prevention zone is exposed by separating the fastening portion of the binding component from the extension component. In some embodiments, the flag-prevention zone is exposed by separating the fastening component from the extension component. In some embodiments, the flag-prevention zone is exposed by separating the folded portion of the binding component from the fastening component. At least a portion of the fastening system extends around at least a portion of the article to which the fastening system is attached, such as a hybrid diaper insert pad. In some embodiments, previously detached fastening zones are reattached to the surface of a first substrate, such as the surface of a hybrid diaper insert pad. The orientation of the fastening zones requires twisting a portion of the fastening system to orient the fastening zones so that they are attached to the outer surface of the hybrid diaper insert pad. In some embodiments, instead of fastening zones, anti-flag zones are attached to the surface of the first substrate. Thus, either fastening zones or anti-flag zones can be used to securely close a hybrid diaper insert pad, for example, one prepared for rolling up and discarding.
