Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a transit for passing at least one cable or pipe through a partition opening. More specifically, the present invention relates to such a transit comprising a first frame, a second frame, and a fastening screw for fastening the first frame to the second frame, where the first frame and the second frame can be fixed to both sides of a partition by the fastening screw. This type of transit is generally used to pass cables and pipes through partitions such as walls, floors, roofs and ceilings, including load-bearing walls, exterior walls, and any other type of walls of structures such as industrial buildings, laboratories, research facilities, residences, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, and other buildings. The transit is generally intended for passing cables for electricity, communications, computers, etc., or pipes for various gases or liquids such as water, compressed air, hydraulic oil, cooking gas, or other types of liquids or gases.

[0002] The present invention also relates to the use of such a transit.

BACKGROUND ART

[0003] A plurality of different transits for passing cables and pipes through partitions are known in the prior art. One prior art transit comprises a rectangular or circular frame for receiving a number of sealing modules, and a compression unit for compressing the modules. The frame is fastened to the partition around the partition opening by screwing or bolting the frame to the partition. Next, the sealing modules are arranged to surround the cables and pipes, and are placed inside the frame together with a compression unit such as a wedge, and the sealing modules are compressed by the compression unit to press against the cables and pipes as well as the inner wall of the frame, so as to provide a sealed transit.

[0004] However, in some applications, it is necessary to improve the shielding or sealing properties of such transits. [Overview of the project]

[0005] In consideration of the foregoing, one object of the present invention is to provide a transit for passing at least one cable or pipe through a partition opening, the transit providing improved shielding or sealing properties. The transit according to the present invention is particularly useful in applications where at least one side of the partition is exposed to high hygiene requirements or where low levels of particulate matter are required. For example, a transit according to one embodiment of the present invention may be particularly useful in clean rooms, laboratories, hospitals and similar facilities, and even facilities for precision instruments.

[0006] The present invention provides a transit for passing at least one cable and / or pipe through a partition opening, the transit comprising a first frame, a second frame, and fastening screws for fastening the first frame to the second frame, the second frame having through apertures for the fastening screws, and the first frame having screw holes for receiving the screw ends of the screws, so that the first frame and the second frame can be fixed on opposite sides of a partition by the fastening screws, the transit further comprising a partition opening liner for engaging the first frame and the second frame, thereby forming an axially extending radially aligned passage between the first frame and the second frame. The combination of fixing the first frame and the second frame and the partition opening liner according to the present invention makes it possible to effectively shield or seal the partition opening, avoiding screw holes in the partition, and providing an aligned passage while avoiding screw holes from the exposed outer surface of the first frame. Therefore, the passages through the partition can be arranged to effectively prevent dust and debris from entering the passages from the partition, and according to various embodiments, the passages can also be sealed away from the partition to prevent leakage of liquids or gases between the passages and the partition. Furthermore, the exposed outer surface of the first frame can be arranged without holes for screws. This is particularly useful in environments where high hygiene standards and / or low levels of particulate matter are required, such as laboratories, clean rooms, operating rooms and similar facilities, as well as facilities for precision instruments.

[0007] The partition opening liner may comprise at least a first liner element and a second liner element that cooperate with each other to form the partition opening liner, and the transit can be easily adapted to partitions of different thicknesses.

[0008] According to a first embodiment, the partition opening liner may comprise a plurality of liner elements formed of a resilient sealing material such as rubber or elastomer, the liner elements being arranged adjacent to each other axially to form a passage that extends axially between a first frame and a second frame through the partition opening and is radially sealed. The outermost liner elements may directly or indirectly seal the first frame and the second frame.

[0009] Liner elements can be formed with through holes for fastening screws. Thus, liner elements such as multiple liner elements selected to match the thickness of the partition can be easily installed in the partition opening liner, and in the case of elastic liner elements, they can be effectively compressed to seal the transit.

[0010] Liner elements can be formed with different axial thicknesses to provide a set of liner elements, thereby easily conforming to the thickness of the partition, and in the case of elastic liner elements, providing appropriate compression to seal the transit.

[0011] According to a second embodiment, the liner element forms a telescopic structure that allows the partition opening liner to easily conform to the thickness of the partition. The first liner element can be attached to the inside of the first frame, for example, by fixed connections such as welding, or by removable connections such as screws positioned from the inside of the first frame, or by form-fit connections with an essentially elastic flexible part or the like. Thus, the first liner element can be attached to the first frame by any fastening means without penetrating the first frame in order to provide a smooth, continuous surface on the outside of the first frame, which is beneficial in terms of hygiene and can improve the sealing characteristics of the transit. The second liner element can be fixed to the second frame by welding or the like, or connected to the second frame by fastening screws for efficient attachment.

[0012] The first frame may be provided with an axially extending protrusion for insertion into a partition opening, the protrusion of which may have holes for receiving fastening screws. The protrusion with holes provides efficient sealing by moving a portion of the first frame into the partition opening, and also provides an improved fastening and tightening capability in an efficient manner. The holes for the screws may be located in a flange of the protrusion that extends radially outward or inward. The flange is then positioned away from the frame plate of the frame, and the holes may be through-holes for receiving fastening screws without obstructing the outer surface of the frame. Alternatively, the holes in the first frame for receiving fastening screws may be blind holes. In any case, the first frame can be connected to the second frame via fastening screws without penetrating the exposed outer surface of the first frame, thereby providing a smooth, continuous surface on the outside of the first frame, which is beneficial in terms of hygiene and can improve the sealing characteristics of the transit.

[0013] The present invention also relates to the use of transits in partition openings of partitions comprising studs with concrete partitions or panels, for example, partitions having a thickness of at least 50 mm, at least 80 mm, or at least 100 mm. For example, the partition comprises panels in the form of metal plates.

[0014] Alternatively, the partition may comprise panels in the form of sheets containing plastic material. For example, the partition may comprise two panels facing each other with insulating panels between them, such as mineral wool, glass wool, or similar. For example, the partition may have a sandwich structure.

[0015] Further features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of embodiments, the accompanying drawings and dependent claims. The present invention is further described below by examples of embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[Figure 11] This is a schematic side view of a transit according to a second embodiment, arranged in a partition in the form of a wall. [Modes for carrying out the invention]

[0017] Referring to Figure 1, a transit 10 for passing at least one cable 11 and / or at least one pipe through a partition 12 is schematically illustrated according to one embodiment. The transit 10 is positioned to pass one or more cables 11 and / or pipes through a partition 12 in the form of a wall, floor, roof, or ceiling. For example, the transit 10 is positioned to be attached to a partition 12 that includes concrete, such as a concrete wall or concrete floor, or to a partition 12 that includes studs with panels. For example, the transit 10 is positioned to pass cables 11, such as cables for electricity, communications, computers, etc., or pipes for different gases or liquids, such as water, compressed air, hydraulic oil, cooking gas, or other types of liquids or gases. For example, the transit 10 is positioned to pass one or more cables 11 and / or pipes between a first area and a second area, where at least the first area is an area with high requirements regarding hygiene and / or low levels of particulate matter. Such areas may be, for example, laboratories, clean rooms, operating rooms and similar facilities, as well as facilities for precision instruments. The partition 12 separates the first area from the second area.

[0018] The transit 10 shown in Figure 1 is arranged to receive one or more sealing modules 13, a compression unit 14, and optionally stayplates 15. The sealing modules 13 may be arranged in different sizes, and multiple different sealing modules 13 may be arranged in different configurations, which are also illustrated with reference to Figure 12. For example, the sealing modules 13, compression unit 14, and stayplates 15 are of conventional type, where applicable. For example, the sealing module 13 is elastic and comprises two opposing sealing halves 16, each module half 16 comprising multiple peelable sheets 17 arranged in a semi-cylindrical groove 18, as illustrated in Figure 3. If necessary, an appropriate number of peelable sheets 17 are removed to fit the sealing module 16 to the diameter of a cable or pipe, the cable 11 or pipe is placed on the module half 16, and the sealing module 13 is formed by placing the two module halves 16 on top of each other. For example, the compression unit 14 is a conventional wedge.

[0019] Referring to Figures 4 to 8, a transit 10 according to the first aspect of the present invention is illustrated. The transit 10 comprises an axis A, a first frame 19, a second frame 20, and a partition opening liner 21 extending between the first frame and the second frame. The partition opening liner 21 is disposed in the through-opening 22 of the partition 12, forming radially lined passages extending axially inside the opening 22 between the first frame 19 and the second frame 20. As such, cables and / or pipes may be arranged through the partition 12 in the lined passages. The transit 10 mounted to the opening 22 of the partition 12 is schematically shown in Figure 8. The axis A is perpendicular to the plane of the partition 12. For example, the axis A corresponds to the direction of cables 11 and / or pipes passing through the transit 10. The first frame 19 and the partition opening liner 21 are arranged to be attached to the second frame 20 by fastening screws 23. For example, at least the first frame 19 is disposed on the side of the partition 12 that requires a low level of particulates. For example, the first frame 19 is disposed in a clean room, a laboratory, a hospital room, or a room equipped with precision instruments. For example, the second frame 20 is also disposed in such a room. Alternatively, the second frame 20 is disposed in a normal room or outdoors.

[0020] The second frame 20 is provided with through-openings 24 for fastening screws 23, and the first frame 19 is provided with screw holes 25 for receiving the threaded ends of the fastening screws 23. Thus, the first frame 19 and the second frame 20 can be fixed to both sides of the partition 12 by the fastening screws 23, and the partition opening liner 21 is positioned between the first frame 19 and the second frame 20. For example, the fastening screw 23 comprises a head and a shaft, the shaft being at least partially threaded to engage with the screw hole 25. For example, the fastening screw 23 is a conventional screw for mating with threads in the screw hole 25. For example, the head of the fastening screw 23 engages with the second frame 20 via a washer or similar conventional means as needed, and when the screw 23 is tightened, the first frame 19 is pulled toward the second frame 20.

[0021] In the illustrated embodiment, the partition opening liner 21 comprises a plurality of liner elements including a first liner element 21a, a second liner element 21b, and optionally a further third liner element 21c, for example, and also further liner elements. These further liner elements are not illustrated. The liner elements 21a to 21c are arranged adjacent to one another in the axial direction, and together form the partition opening liner 21 and the aligned passage. For example, the liner elements 21a to 21c are arranged as a closed loop having a central through opening that forms the partition opening liner 21 and the aligned passage when placed adjacent to one another. Holes 26 for fastening screws 23 are formed in the liner elements 21a to 21c, and the fastening screws 23 are arranged through the openings 24 in the second frame 20, through the holes in the liner elements 21a to 21c, and can extend into the holes 25 in the first frame 19. Therefore, the first frame 19 and the second frame 20 as well as the liner elements 21a to 21c can be fastened together by the fastening screws 23 to form the transit 10. The openings 24 in the second frame 20, the holes 25 in the first frame 19, and the holes in the liner elements 26 are schematically shown by broken lines in Fig. 7. For example, the first frame 19 and the second frame 20 are formed of metal plates. Alternatively, the first frame 19 and the second frame 20 are formed of a plastic material or other suitable polymeric material.

[0022] In the illustrated embodiment, the first frame 19 comprises a frame plate 27 connected to an axially extending tubular projection 28. The tubular projection 28 is provided with a radially extending flange 29. For example, the frame plate 27 and flange 29 are positioned at the opposite ends of the projection 28. The frame plate 27 is provided with a through-opening to the projection 28 to form a passage for cables and / or pipes. For example, the through-opening of the frame plate 27 is a central opening. Thus, the first frame 19 forms a closed loop around the passage. For example, both the frame plate 27 and the projection 28 form a closed loop around an axially extending passage. For example, the projection 28 with flange 29 is positioned to be inserted into an opening 22 in the partition 12. Holes 25 for fastening screws 23 are located within the flange 29, for example axially within the flange 29, and optionally through the flange 29. Alternatively, the first frame 19 is positioned without a flange 29, and the hole 25 is positioned directly on one or more walls of an axially extending projection 28, which is then formed with a wall thickness appropriate for providing the hole 25. The frame plate 27 is positioned to be pressed against the outer surface of the partition 12, for example, together with a sealing sheet 30 between the frame plate 27 and the partition 12 around the partition opening 22. Thus, the frame plate 27 has a radially extending plane. For example, the plane of the frame plate 27 extends parallel to the plane of the flange 29, and the projection 28 extends between them. Thus, the free end of the flange 29 is positioned axially with a gap from the frame plate 27.

[0023] In the embodiment according to the first aspect, the liner elements 21a-c are formed of an elastic material, such as rubber or elastomer, for sealing purposes. For example, the liner elements 21a-c are formed of an elastic material to provide a watertight or airtight partition opening liner 21. In the exemplary embodiment, the first liner element 21a seals against the first frame 19, the second liner element 12b seals against the second frame 20, and the liner elements 21a-21c seal against axially adjacent liner elements to radially seal an axially extending passage between the first frame 19 and the second frame 20. The liner elements 21a-c are formed with through-openings, such as a central through-opening, for forming an axially extending passage for cables and / or pipes. According to the exemplary embodiment, one or more of the liner elements 21a-c are formed with different thicknesses in the axial direction. The holes 26 in the liner elements 21a-c are aligned with the holes 25 in the first frame 19 and the openings 24 in the second frame 20.

[0024] According to embodiments shown in Figures 4-8, the second frame 20 comprises a frame plate 31 and an axially extending tubular projection 32, the frame plate 31 being positioned to be pressed against the outside of the partition 12, in the same manner as described above for the first frame 19, with a sealing sheet 33 optionally provided between the frame plate 31 and the partition 12. The projection 32 of the second frame 20 comprises a flange 34 with through openings 24 for fastening screws 23. In the illustrated embodiments, the flange 34 extends radially inward and is illustrated by a dashed line in Figure 7. For example, the flange 34 of the second frame 20 extends parallel to the frame plate 31. The projection 32 of the second frame 20 with the flange 34 is positioned to be inserted into an opening 22 in the partition 12, for example, as illustrated in Figure 8.

[0025] The partition 12 may be a wall, floor, roof, or similar. According to one embodiment, the partition 12 is made of concrete or includes concrete or an equivalent material. Alternatively, the partition 12 includes studs provided in a panel (not shown). For example, the partition 12 has a thickness T of at least 50 mm, at least 80 mm, or at least 100 mm. In the embodiment illustrated in Figure 8, the fastening screws 23 are shorter than the thickness T of the partition 12 and are positioned inside the opening 22 of the partition 12.

[0026] To install the transit 10 according to the embodiments shown in Figures 4-8, the protrusion 28 of the first frame 19 is inserted into the opening 22 of the partition 12, with a sealing sheet 30 provided between the frame plate 27 and the outer surface of the partition 12 around the opening 22, if necessary. Fastening screws 23 are positioned through the opening 24 in the second frame 20. Considering the thickness T of the partition 12, an appropriate number of liner elements 21a-c and, if necessary, an appropriate thickness of the liner elements are selected, and the fastening screws 23 are passed through the holes 26 in the liner elements 21a-c and the holes 25 in the first frame 19. Next, the fastening screws 23 are tightened on the side of the second frame 20, pressing the frame plate 27 of the first frame 19 toward the partition 12, compressing the liner elements 21a-c to form a sealed passage through the partition 12, where the first frame 19 and the second frame 20 are fixed to the partition 12 on both sides, and the fastening screws 23 extend into the opening 22 of the partition 12. The sealing module 13, compression unit 14 and stay plate 15 may be positioned inside the first frame 19 and / or the second frame 20, for example, inside the axial tubular projection 28 of the first frame 19 and inside the axial tubular projection 32 of the second frame 20.

[0027] Referring to Figures 9 to 11, a transit 10 according to a second aspect of the present invention is schematically shown. In the illustrated embodiment of the second aspect, the first frame 19 comprises a frame plate 27, a projection 28, and a flange 29 having a hole 25, as described above with respect to the first aspect of the present invention. Sealing sheets 30 and 33 may also be arranged as described above. However, the second aspect differs from the first aspect in the structure of the partition opening liner 21, and in the illustrated embodiment in the structure of the second frame 20.

[0028] In the second embodiment, as illustrated, the second frame 20 is arranged as a frame plate with a central opening that forms a passage for cables or pipes. The second frame 20 is positioned to be pressed against the outside of the partition 12, optionally via a sealing sheet 33. The second frame 20 is provided with through-openings 24 that are perpendicular to the plane of the second frame 20 and extend axially to receive fastening screws 23. The fastening screws 23 are illustrated by dashed lines in Figure 11.

[0029] The partition opening liner 21 comprises at least a first liner element 21a and a second liner element 21b, which cooperate to form a partition opening liner 21 extending through the partition opening 22. The first liner element 21a and the second liner element 21b are tubular to form a radially closed liner inside the partition opening 22. In the illustrated embodiment, the second liner element 21b is received telescopically into the first liner element 21a, and the length of the partition liner element 21 is axially adjustable to accommodate partitions 12 of different thicknesses T. If necessary, the partition opening liner 21 comprises further liner elements that cooperate in correspondence with other liner elements. Thus, one of the liner elements 21a, 21b is arranged to have a smaller diameter or cross-sectional area so that its end can be axially inserted into the other end. In the illustrated embodiment, the second liner element 21b comprises a flange 35 with through holes 36 for receiving fastening screws 23. In the embodiments shown in Figures 9-11, the flange 35 extends outward. Thus, the second liner element 21b is attached to the second frame 20 via fastening screws 23. The first liner element 21a is supported by the second liner element 21b. Alternatively, the first liner element 21a is fixedly or detachably connected to the first frame 19 by elastic flexible fastening means such as a snap-lock or similar. According to one embodiment, the first liner element 21a and the second liner element 21b are made of metal plates. Alternatively, the liner elements 21a and 21b are made of plastic, rubber, or elastomer material. In the illustrated embodiments, the frames 19, 20 and the partition opening liner 21 are formed with a rectangular cross-section. Alternatively, the cross-section of the transit 10 is substantially circular to fit a substantially circular partition opening 22. Regardless of the external shape of the transit 10, the axial passage formed by the transit 10 may be rectangular or circular to accommodate one or more suitable conventional sealing modules and compression units.

[0030] In a second aspect of the present invention, the threaded end of the fastening screw 23 is positioned on the inside of the partition opening 22, outside the aligned passage through the partition opening 22 formed by the transit 10. The fastening screw 23 stops in front of the frame plate 27 of the first frame 19, and optionally also in front of the sealing sheet 30 between the outer surface of the partition 12 and the frame plate 27 of the first frame 19. The fastening screw 23 is inserted from the outside of the second frame 20, and the screw head is positioned to be accessible from the outside of the second frame 20. The sealing module 13, compression unit 14, and stay plate 15 can be positioned inside the first frame 19, for example, in the central opening and axial tubular projection 28 of the frame plate 27.
