Abstract

To isolate a novel bacteriophage exhibiting bacteriolytic activity specific to bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas in order to control plant diseases caused by Xanthomonas bacteria, and to develop and provide a plant disease control composition having the bacteriophage as an active ingredient. Provided are a bacteriolytic agent composed of a bacteriophage having a novel genomic DNA sequence and exhibiting bacteriolytic activity specific to bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas, and a plant disease control composition having the bacteriolytic agent as an active ingredient.
