[0012] The following detailed description will be given with reference to the drawings. Duplicate descriptions will be simplified or omitted as appropriate. In each drawing, the same reference numerals indicate the same or corresponding parts.
[0013] Embodiment 1 Fig. 1 is a diagram showing an example of a passenger conveyor. Fig. 1 shows an escalator as an example of a passenger conveyor. Passenger conveyors also include moving walkways.
[0014] The escalator includes a truss 1 and steps 2. The truss 1 spans the upper and lower floors. Passengers ride on the steps 2 to move from an entrance 3 to an exit 4. Figure 1 shows an upward escalator as an example.
[0015] A machine room 5 is provided below the access point 4. The machine room 5 is a space formed inside the truss 1. An electric motor 6 and a control device 7 are provided in the machine room 5. The electric motor 6 drives the steps 2. The control device 7 controls the electric motor 6. For example, the electric motor 6 rotates a shaft 9 provided in the machine room 5 via a reducer 8. A sprocket 10 and a sprocket 11 are provided on the shaft 9. A step chain 12 is wound around the sprocket 10. A number of step shafts 13 are provided on the step chain 12. A step 2 is fixed to each step shaft 13. In this way, a number of steps 2 are connected to the step chain 12.
[0016] The steps 2 move by being pulled by the step chain 12. Because the step chain 12 is endless, the steps 2 move in a circular motion. Passengers get on the steps 2 that move from the boarding entrance 3 to the exit entrance 4. Passengers on the steps 2 hold onto the moving handrails 14 for safety.
[0017] The moving handrail 14 is formed endless. The moving handrail 14 is driven by a drive device 15. The drive device 15 drives the moving handrail 14 by rotating rollers that sandwich the moving handrail 14 from above and below. A handrail chain 16 is wound around the sprocket 11. The driving force of the electric motor 6 is transmitted to the drive device 15 by the handrail chain 16.
[0018] The step chain 12 and the handrail chain 16 are examples of chains used in escalators. Other chains may also be used in escalators. The oil supply device 17 supplies oil for lubrication to these chains. For example, oil is supplied from the oil supply device 17 to the step chain 12.
[0019] The oil pan 18 is supported by the truss 1. The oil pan 18 is disposed at least directly below the components to which oil is supplied. These components include the step chain 12 and the handrail chain 16. For example, some of the oil supplied to the step chain 12 drips from the step chain 12 and falls into the oil pan 18. The oil that falls into the oil pan 18 flows down along the oil pan 18. As a result, the oil collects above the oil pan 18 below the entrance 3.
[0020] Escalator maintenance personnel must recover the oil that has accumulated in the oil pan 18. The following describes an oil recovery device 20 that is used by maintenance personnel when performing oil recovery work.
[0021] 2 is a diagram showing an example of the oil recovery device 20 in the embodiment 1. The oil recovery device 20 includes a container 21, a suction device 22, and a pipe body 23.
[0022] 3 and 4 are diagrams showing examples of the container 21. FIG. 3 is a front view of the container 21. FIG. 4 is a plan view of the container 21. The upper part of FIG. 3 shows the A-A cross section of FIG. 4. The container 21 is a container for collecting oil. In an escalator, when the oil in the oil supply device 17 runs low, a maintenance worker replenishes oil in the oil supply device 17. The container 21 may be an empty container that previously contained new oil, a so-called oil can.
[0023] Through holes 24a and 24b are formed in the container 21. Figures 3 and 4 show a preferred example in which the through holes 24a and 24b are formed on the upward surface 21a of the container 21. Figures 3 and 4 also show an example in which the container 21 is an empty oil can and the through hole 24a is an oil spout. If the container 21 is an oil can, the container 21 is provided with a ring-shaped member 25. The ring-shaped member 25 protrudes upward from the surface 21a. The through hole 24a is formed by the ring-shaped member 25.
[0024] A lid 26 is detachably attached to the annular member 25. When the lid 26 is attached to the annular member 25, the through-hole 24a is sealed by the lid 26. In other words, as long as the lid 26 is attached to the annular member 25, oil will not spill from the through-hole 24a even if oil is contained in the container 21.
[0025] 2 to 4 show a preferred example in which the oil recovery device 20 further includes a handle 27. The handle 27 is provided on the surface 21a of the container 21. The handle 27 is preferably disposed in the center of the surface 21a. FIGS. 2 to 4 show an example in which the handle 27 is disposed between the through holes 24a and 24b. Because the handle 27 is disposed between the through holes 24a and 24b, a certain distance is ensured between the through holes 24a and 24b.
[0026] The suction device 22 includes a pipe 28 and a blower 29. When the blower 29 operates, air is sucked through the pipe 28. The suction device 22 is used to suck air from inside the container 21 through the through-hole 24a. The suction device 22 may be a handheld vacuum cleaner.
[0027] Fig. 5 is a diagram showing an example of the pipe 23. The pipe 23 is detachable from the container 21. The pipe 23 is a member that actually sucks in oil. In the example shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the pipe 23 includes an adapter 30 and a hose 31. As an example, the adapter 30 is a so-called hose nipple. The adapter 30 includes a threaded portion 32 and a connecting portion 33. The adapter 30 has a through hole 30a that linearly connects the end face of the threaded portion 32 to the end face of the connecting portion 33.
[0028] As an example, the hose 31 is made of rubber. The hose 31 is detachable from the connection part 33 of the adapter 30. Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view showing the state in which the hose 31 is connected to the connection part 33 of the adapter 30. When the hose 31 is connected to the connection part 33, the hollow part of the hose 31 communicates with the through-hole 30a.
[0029] Fig. 2 shows an example in which the oil recovery device 20 further includes an adapter 34. The adapter 34 is a member for connecting the pipe body 28 of the suction device 22 and the annular member 25 of the container 21 while ensuring airtightness. Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view showing an example of the adapter 34. As an example, the adapter 34 is a cylindrical member made of rubber. The adapter 34 is detachable from the annular member 25. In the example shown in Fig. 7, a circular groove 34b that fits the annular member 25 is formed in one end 34a of the adapter 34.
[0030] Next, a method for a maintenance worker to recover oil using the oil recovery device 20 will be described with reference to Fig. 8. Fig. 8 is a flowchart showing an example of the oil recovery method according to the first embodiment.
[0031] In the preparation step shown in S101, a maintenance person prepares an empty container that previously contained new oil, a so-called oil can. As described above, in an escalator, when the oil in the oil supply device 17 becomes low, the maintenance person replenishes oil into the oil supply device 17. The maintenance person can prepare an oil can that has been emptied by replenishing oil into the oil supply device 17 as the container.
[0032] Next, in the processing step S102, the maintenance worker forms a through-hole 24b in the prepared empty container. The oil can has a through-hole 24a formed in advance as an oil spout. Therefore, by forming the through-hole 24b, the container 21 shown in Figures 3 and 4 can be produced.
[0033] Next, in a connecting step shown in S103, the maintenance technician connects the pipe 23 to the container 21. In the connecting step, the maintenance technician attaches the adapter 30 to the surface 21a of the container 21 by screwing the threaded portion 32 of the adapter 30 into the through-hole 24b. The diameter of the through-hole 24b is formed to match the diameter of the threaded portion 32. After attaching the adapter 30 to the surface 21a, the maintenance technician connects the hose 31 to the connection portion 33 protruding upward from the surface 21a.
[0034] Next, in the attachment step shown in S104, the maintenance technician attaches the adapter 34 to the spout of the container 21. As described above, the groove 34b is formed in the end 34a of the adapter 34. The maintenance technician positions the adapter 34 so that the groove 34b is directly above the annular member 25, and then presses the adapter 34 against the surface 21a. This causes the annular member 25 to fit into the groove 34b, and the annular member 25 is sandwiched between the end 34a of the adapter 34. In other words, the adapter 34 is attached to the annular member 25 of the container 21.
[0035] The connecting step shown in S103 is performed after the processing step shown in S102, whereas the attaching step shown in S104 may be performed before the connecting step shown in S103.
[0036] After the connection step shown in S103 and the installation step shown in S104, the maintenance person recovers the oil accumulated in the oil pan 18 in the recovery step shown in S105. In the recovery step, the maintenance person first inserts the pipe body 28 of the suction device 22 into the adapter 34 from above, thereby connecting the pipe body 28 to the adapter 34. This puts the oil recovery device 20 into a state where it can recover oil. Hereinafter, this state will also be referred to as the recovery state.
[0037] Figure 2 shows the oil recovery device 20 in the recovery state. Figure 9 is a diagram showing a cross section of the oil recovery device 20 in the recovery state. Figure 9 shows a cross section corresponding to the A-A cross section in Figure 4. Note that in Figure 9, the suction device 22 is not shown in cross section.
[0038] 2 and 9, in the recovery state, the tube 23 is attached to the container 21. Also, in the recovery state, the adapter 34 is attached to the annular member 25 of the container 21. In the recovery state, the tube 28 of the suction device 22 is connected to the adapter 34. Note that no fixing means such as a bolt is required to connect the tube 28 to the adapter 34. Figure 9 shows an example in which the tube 28, made of hard plastic, is connected to the adapter 34 by pressing the tube 28 from above onto the rubber adapter 34.
[0039] Next, while maintaining the collection state, the maintenance worker operates the blower 29 of the suction device 22. When the blower 29 operates, the air inside the container 21 is sucked by the suction device 22. That is, the air inside the container 21 is sucked into the suction device 22 through the through-hole 24a and the hollow portion of the adapter 34.
[0040] When the maintenance technician operates the blower 29, he brings the tip 31a of the hose 31 close to the oil on the oil pan 18 and sucks the oil through the hose 31. The tip 31a of the hose 31 is the tip of the pipe 23. The oil sucked from the tip 31a of the hose 31 is collected in the container 21 through the through-hole 24b. That is, the oil sucked into the hose 31 from the tip 31a passes through the hollow portion of the hose 31 and the through-hole 30a, and falls into the container 21 from the lower end of the adapter 30.
[0041] After the recovery step shown in S105, in a removal step shown in S106, the maintenance technician removes the pipe body 23 and the adapter 34 from the container 21. In the removal step, the maintenance technician removes the hose 31 from the adapter 30 and removes the adapter 30 from the through-hole 24b. The maintenance technician also removes the adapter 34 from the annular member 25, i.e., from the through-hole 24a.
[0042] After the removal step shown in S106, the maintenance technician closes the through-holes 24a and 24b in a closing step shown in S107. Any method may be used to close the through-hole 24b. The maintenance technician can close the through-hole 24a by attaching the cover 26 to the annular member 25.
[0043] In the example described above, in the recovery state, air inside the container 21 is sucked into the suction device 22 through the through-hole 24a, and the oil sucked from the tip 31a of the hose 31 can be recovered into the container 21 through the through-hole 24b. A maintenance worker can recover the oil into the container 21 simply by moving the tip 31a of the hose 31 to match the position where the oil has accumulated. This significantly reduces the burden on the maintenance worker who recovers the oil.
[0044] It is preferable that the adapter 34, when attached to the annular member 25, can hold the suction device 22 above the container 21. If the adapter 34 can hold the suction device 22, the maintenance person does not need to support the suction device 22 when recovering oil. Also, if the adapter 34 can hold the suction device 22 above the container 21, the oil recovery device 20 can be placed in a narrow space such as inside the truss 1.
[0045] Next, another example of the oil recovery device 20 will be described. Figure 10 is a diagram showing another example of the oil recovery device 20 in the first embodiment. Figure 10 shows a cross section corresponding to the A-A cross section in Figure 4. The oil recovery device 20 shown in Figure 10 includes a container 21, a cylindrical body 40, a suction device 22, and a tubular body 23. Figure 10 also shows an example in which the oil recovery device 20 further includes a handle 27.
[0046] The container 21 and handle 27 shown in Figure 10 are similar to the container 21 and handle 27 shown in Figures 3 and 4, except that the container 21 does not have a through-hole 24b. That is, the through-hole 24a is formed in the upward surface 21a of the container 21. Figure 10 shows a preferred example in which the container 21 is an oil can and the through-hole 24a is an oil spout. In this example, the through-hole 24a is formed by an annular member 25. A lid 26 is detachably attached to the annular member 25. When the lid 26 is attached to the annular member 25, the through-hole 24a is sealed by the lid 26.
[0047] 11 is a cross-sectional view showing an example of the cylindrical body 40. In addition to large oil cans used as the container 21 in escalators and elevators, small oil cans in the shape of a can bottle are also used. The cylindrical body 40 may be made from an empty container that previously contained new oil, i.e., a small oil can in the shape of a can bottle.
[0048] A through hole 40a and a through hole 40b are formed in the cylindrical body 40. One end 40c of the cylindrical body 40 is open. In the example shown in FIG. 11, the through hole 40a is formed in the other end of the cylindrical body 40. The through hole 40b is formed in the side surface of the cylindrical body 40. FIG. 11 shows an example in which the cylindrical body 40 is an oil can and the through hole 40a is an oil spout. If the cylindrical body 40 is an oil can, the cylindrical body 40 is provided with an annular member 41. The through hole 40a is formed by the annular member 41.
[0049] A lid 42 is detachably attached to the annular member 41. When the lid 42 is attached to the annular member 41, the through-hole 40a is sealed by the lid 42.
[0050] The suction device 22 shown in Fig. 10 is similar to the suction device 22 shown in Fig. 2. However, in the suction device 22 shown in Fig. 10, the tubular body 28 is formed of a flexible material. Also, the main body of the suction device 22 is not shown in Fig. 10. The main body of the suction device 22 is the part to which the tubular body 28 is connected and which houses the blower 29.
[0051] Fig. 12 is a diagram showing an example of the tube 23. The tube 23 is provided on the cylindrical body 40. The tube 23 shown in Figs. 10 and 12 is detachable from the cylindrical body 40. The tube 23 is a member that actually sucks in oil. In the example shown in Figs. 10 and 12, the tube 23 includes an adapter 30, a hose 31, and a conduit 43. The adapter 30 and the hose 31 shown in Figs. 10 and 12 are similar to the adapter 30 and the hose 31 shown in Fig. 2.
[0052] The conduit 43 is an L-shaped pipe for guiding oil. The conduit 43 is detachably attached to the threaded portion 32 of the adapter 30. That is, in the example shown in Figures 10 and 12, the hose 31 is connected to one end of the adapter 30, and the conduit 43 is connected to the other end of the adapter 30. When the hose 31 and the conduit 43 are connected to the adapter 30, the hollow portions of the hose 31 and the conduit 43 communicate with the through-hole 30a.
[0053] Fig. 10 shows an example in which the oil recovery device 20 further includes a blocking body 44. The blocking body 44 is a member for closing the gap between the container 21 and the end 40c of the cylindrical body 40. Fig. 13 is a cross-sectional view showing an example of the blocking body 44. As an example, the blocking body 44 is a plate-shaped member made of rubber. A through hole 44a is formed in the blocking body 44. The diameter of the through hole 44a is larger than the diameter of the annular member 25.
[0054] Next, a method for a maintenance worker to recover oil using the oil recovery device 20 shown in Fig. 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 14. Fig. 14 is a flowchart showing another example of the oil recovery method according to the first embodiment.
[0055] In the preparation step S201, the maintenance person prepares an empty container that previously contained new oil, a so-called oil can. In the preparation step, the maintenance person prepares a large rectangular oil can and a small cylindrical oil can. The prepared large oil can is used as the container 21 as is.
[0056] Next, in a first processing step shown in S202, the maintenance worker removes the bottom of the prepared small, empty container, opening one end of the container. Furthermore, in a second processing step shown in S203, the maintenance worker forms a through-hole 40b in the side of the prepared small, empty container. A through-hole 40a, which serves as an oil spout, is formed in advance in the small, bottle-type oil can. Therefore, by performing the first and second processing steps, a cylindrical body 40 as shown in FIG. 11 can be produced.
[0057] Next, in a connecting step shown in S204, the maintenance technician connects the pipe 23 to the cylindrical body 40. In the connecting step, the maintenance technician first places one end of the conduit 43 against the through-hole 40b from inside the cylindrical body 40. Then, while maintaining this position, the maintenance technician screws the threaded portion 32 of the adapter 30 into the through-hole 40b, thereby attaching the adapter 30 to the side of the cylindrical body 40. This fixes the adapter 30 to the cylindrical body 40, and the conduit 43 is connected to the end of the adapter 30 that is located inside the cylindrical body 40. The diameter of the through-hole 40b is formed to match the diameter of the threaded portion 32.
[0058] Furthermore, after attaching the adapter 30 to the cylindrical body 40, the maintenance technician connects the hose 31 to the connection part 33 that protrudes laterally from the cylindrical body 40. As a result, the hose 31 is connected to the end of the adapter 30 that is positioned outside the cylindrical body 40.
[0059] Next, in a recovery step shown in S205, the maintenance technician recovers the oil accumulated in the oil pan 18. In the recovery step, the maintenance technician first places the blocking body 44 on the surface 21 a of the container 21 so that the annular member 25 is positioned inside the through-hole 44 a.
[0060] Next, the maintenance worker places the cylindrical body 40 on the blocking body 44 so that the end portion 40c surrounds the annular member 25, and positions the cylindrical body 40 relative to the container 21 so that the end portion 40c covers the through-hole 24a. The maintenance worker also inserts the tubular body 28 of the suction device 22 into the cylindrical body 40 through the through-hole 40a. This puts the oil recovery device 20 into a recovery state in which it can recover oil.
[0061] Figure 10 shows the oil recovery device 20 in the recovery state. As shown in Figure 10, in the recovery state, the pipe 23 is attached to the cylindrical body 40. Also, in the recovery state, the cylindrical body 40 is positioned relative to the container 21 so that the end 40c covers the through-hole 24a. In the recovery state, the gap between the surface 21a of the container 21 and the end 40c of the cylindrical body 40 is closed by a blocking body 44. In the recovery state, the pipe 28 of the suction device 22 is connected to the annular member 41 of the cylindrical body 40.
[0062] 10 shows an example in which the through-hole 40a is blocked by the tube 28 inserted into the through-hole 40a due to bending of the tube 28. The tube 28 of the suction device 22 may be connected to the annular member 41 via a member such as an adapter 34.
[0063] Next, while maintaining the collection state, the maintenance person operates the blower 29 of the suction device 22. When the blower 29 operates, air inside the container 21 is sucked into the suction device 22 through the through-holes 24a and 40a.
[0064] When the maintenance technician operates the blower 29, he brings the tip 31a of the hose 31 close to the oil on the oil pan 18 and sucks the oil through the hose 31. The oil sucked from the tip 31a of the hose 31 is collected in the container 21 through the through-hole 40b and the through-hole 24a. That is, the oil sucked into the hose 31 from the tip 31a passes through the hollow portion of the hose 31, the through-hole 30a, and the hollow portion of the conduit 43, and falls into the container 21 from the tip 43a of the conduit 43.
[0065] The conduit 43 is a member for guiding the oil that has passed through the hose 31 and the adapter 30 to the container 21. In the recovery state, the conduit 43 preferably passes through the through-hole 24a, and its tip 43a is preferably disposed inside the container 21.
[0066] After the recovery step shown in S205, in a separation step shown in S206, the maintenance person separates the cylindrical body 40 from the container 21. In the separation step, the maintenance person pulls out the pipe body 28 from the through-hole 40a and removes the cylindrical body 40 from above the container 21. The maintenance person also removes the blocking body 44 from above the container 21.
[0067] Next, in a closing step shown in S207, the maintenance technician closes the through-hole 24a. The maintenance technician can close the through-hole 24a by attaching the cover 26 to the annular member 25.
[0068] Even in this example, the maintenance person can collect the oil in the container 21 simply by moving the tip 31a of the hose 31 to the location where the oil has accumulated. This significantly reduces the burden on the maintenance person who collects the oil. Also, in this example, a large oil can that previously contained new oil can be used as the container 21.
