Abstract

This position identification device determines whether or not detection results for the two-dimensional position of an object in images of said object taken by a plurality of cameras from a plurality of viewpoints satisfy a predetermined condition necessary for identifying a three-dimensional position by triangulation; identifies the three-dimensional position of the object by triangulation on the basis of the detection results for the two-dimensional position and camera parameters of cameras that took images in which the two-dimensional position was detected, when the detection results satisfy the condition; and identifies the three-dimensional position of the object on the basis of the detection results for the two-dimensional position, the camera parameters of cameras that took images in which the two-dimensional position was detected, and a plane in a predetermined three-dimensional space which is a region in which the object exists, when the detection results do not satisfy the condition.
