Abstract

A monitoring system according to the present disclosure comprises: an optical fiber (10) that has been laid in a prescribed area; an acquisition unit (22) that acquires a video which was captured in the prescribed area; a detection unit (21) that detects an abnormality which has occurred in the prescribed area, by performing sensing using the optical fiber (10) as a sensor; a determination unit (23) that determines whether the cause of the detected abnormality can be inferred on the basis of information included in the video; and a notification unit (24) that, when the determination results indicate that the cause of the detected abnormality cannot be inferred, determines that the detected abnormality is an unknown abnormality, and provides notification of an alarm.
