Information processing device and method

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an information processing device and method which make it possible to suppress a reduction in coding efficiency. The method includes: using a first coordinate set, which is a set of coordinates of points forming a point cloud, a first feature quantity set, which is a set of feature quantities of the coordinates, and a guide surface, which is a reference surface formed in a three-dimensional space, to derive a guide surface feature quantity, which is a feature quantity based on a positional relationship between the guide surface and the points; performing a predetermined calculation using the first coordinate set and the first feature quantity set reflecting the guide surface feature quantity to derive a second coordinate set and a second feature quantity set; encoding the derived second coordinate set; and encoding the derived second feature quantity set. The present disclosure is applicable, for example, to information processing devices, electronic instruments, information processing methods and programs.
