Abstract

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a cyclic olefin ring-opened polymer hydride having both a suitable Abbe number and a low birefringence; and a raw material therefor. A cyclic olefin ring-opened polymer according to the present invention is characterized by containing a structural unit (A) derived from deltacyclene and a structural unit (B) derived from a cyclic olefin monomer having an aromatic ring structure. A cyclic olefin ring-opened polymer hydride according to the present invention is characterized by being obtained by hydrogenating a cyclic olefin ring-opened polymer according to the present invention.
