FIG. 11 is a diagram showing the configuration of a computer constituting the authentication device of the present disclosure.

[0012] First, an overview of one embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings. In this disclosure, the drawings relate to one or more embodiments. The reference numerals in the drawings attached to this overview are attached to each element for convenience as an example to facilitate understanding, and are not intended to limit the present disclosure to the illustrated form. Furthermore, connecting lines between blocks in the drawings and the like referred to in the following description include both bidirectional and unidirectional lines. Unidirectional arrows are used to schematically indicate the flow of main signals (data) and do not exclude bidirectionality. A program is executed via a computer device, which includes, for example, a processor, a storage device, an input device, a communication interface, and, if necessary, a display device. Furthermore, this computer device is configured to be able to communicate with internal or external devices (including computers) via the communication interface, whether wired or wireless. Although ports or interfaces are present at the input / output connection points of each block in the drawings, they are not shown.

[0013] In one embodiment, the present disclosure can be realized by an authentication device 10 including a detection unit 11, a detection unit 12, an adjustment unit 13, and an authentication unit 14, as shown in FIG. 1 . More specifically, the detection unit 11 detects the face of a user in an image captured by a camera C installed inside the vehicle. The detection unit 12 detects the movement of the user's face. The adjustment unit 13 adjusts the image capturing environment when the movement of the face is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold for a certain period of time. Examples of the image capturing environment include the illuminance of the space (vehicle interior) in which the camera C is installed and the type of light source. For example, the adjustment unit 13 adjusts the image capturing environment by controlling a lamp L installed inside the vehicle. The authentication unit 14 performs biometric authentication after adjusting the image capturing environment.

[0014] The authentication device 10 configured as above operates as follows: First, the authentication device 10 detects the face of the user in an image captured by a camera C installed inside the vehicle (step S01 in FIG. 2).

[0015] Next, the authentication device 10 detects the facial movement of the user and checks whether the facial movement has been below a predetermined threshold for a certain period of time (step S02 in FIG. 2). Whether the facial movement has been below the predetermined threshold can be determined by, for example, a method known as a technique for detecting blurring of a subject.

[0016] If it is confirmed that the facial movement is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold, the authentication device 10 adjusts the photographing environment (step S03).

[0017] When the adjustment of the photographing environment is completed, the authentication device 10 performs biometric authentication (step S04).

[0018] As described above, with the operating authentication device 10, as described above, in step S02, it is confirmed that the subject is not blurred and the shooting environment is adjusted before entering the actual authentication, thereby stabilizing the authentication accuracy of the biometric authentication.

[0019] [First embodiment] Next, a first embodiment of the present disclosure in which an authentication device according to the present disclosure is mounted on a vehicle will be described. Fig. 3 is a diagram showing one configuration of a vehicle equipped with an authentication device 100 according to the present disclosure. Referring to Fig. 3, a vehicle V equipped with the authentication device 100, a camera C, and a room lamp L is shown.

[0020] The camera C is a camera arranged in the vehicle cabin for performing, for example, iris authentication or face authentication. In this embodiment, the authentication device 100 uses the camera C to acquire biometric information of a user who is in the vehicle.

[0021] The room lamp L is an interior light with a dimming function, and the brightness of the room lamp L can be freely changed based on a control signal from the authentication device 100.

[0022] 4 is a diagram showing one configuration of authentication device 100. Authentication device 100 includes a detection unit 101, a detection unit 102, an adjustment unit 103, and an authentication unit 104. Detection unit 101, detection unit 102, adjustment unit 103, and authentication unit 104 correspond to detection means 11, detection means 12, adjustment means 13, and authentication means 14, respectively.

[0023] When a user sits in the driver's seat, the detection unit 101 starts monitoring the image captured by the camera C. Then, the detection unit 101 detects the user's face in the image captured by the camera C and notifies the detection unit 102 of the position of the user's face in the image.

[0024] The detection unit 102 monitors the movement of the user's face in the image notified by the detection unit 101, and when the movement of the face is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold for a certain period of time, the detection unit 102 instructs the adjustment unit 103 to adjust the shooting environment. Furthermore, when the movement of the user's face continues to exceed the predetermined threshold, the detection unit 102 outputs a message via a speaker or a display unit (not shown) of the in-car terminal, urging the user to stay still.

[0025] When the adjustment unit 103 receives an instruction to start adjusting the image capturing environment from the detection unit 102, it starts dimming control of the room lamp L based on the image captured by the camera C. For example, if the image is dark, the adjustment unit 103 controls the room lamp L to turn on or to become brighter. Also, for example, if the image is too bright and has blown-out highlights, the adjustment unit 103 controls the room lamp L to turn off or to become darker.

[0026] If the room lamp L has a color adjustment function, the adjustment unit 103 may perform color adjustment control in addition to dimming. Upon completing the adjustment of the image capturing environment, the adjustment unit 103 notifies the authentication unit 104 that the adjustment of the image capturing environment has been completed.

[0027] The authentication unit 104 performs biometric authentication based on the notification from the adjustment unit 103. For example, the authentication unit 104 compares the iris pattern of the user registered in advance with the iris pattern captured by the camera C. If the comparison determines that the characteristics of the two iris patterns match, the authentication unit 104 determines that the authentication is successful and grants the user authority to operate the vehicle, etc.

[0028] Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Fig. 5 is a flowchart showing the operation of the present disclosure. Referring to Fig. 5, first, when the authentication device 100 detects the user's boarding action, it activates the camera C (step S001). Next, the authentication device 100 starts detecting the user's face in the image captured by the camera C (step S002).

[0029] The authentication device 100 monitors the detected facial movement of the user, and if there is no movement (the amount of movement is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold for a certain period of time) (YES in step S003), it dims the room light L (step S004). On the other hand, if there is movement of the user's face (NO in step S003), the authentication device 100 outputs a message via a speaker or a screen display to call attention to the user to stay still (step S004).

[0030] When the dimming of the room light L is completed, the authentication device 100 performs biometric authentication (step S005).

[0031] According to this embodiment, which operates as described above, biometric authentication is initiated after confirming that the user is not moving and adjusting the brightness inside the vehicle to a level suitable for biometric authentication, thereby stabilizing the accuracy of biometric authentication.

[0032] Second Embodiment Next, a second embodiment will be described in which an electronic shade is used to adjust the shooting environment. Fig. 6 is a diagram showing another configuration of a vehicle according to the present disclosure. The difference from the first embodiment shown in Fig. 3 is that an electronic shade ES is provided on the window glass of the vehicle Va. The other configurations are the same as those in Fig. 5, so the following description will focus on the differences.

[0033] The vehicle Va is equipped with an electronic shade ES, which can be freely switched between a light-blocking state and a light-transmitting state based on a control signal from the authentication device 100a.

[0034] FIG. 7 is a diagram showing another configuration of the authentication device 100a. The difference from the first embodiment shown in FIG. 4 is that the adjustment unit 103a is connected to the electronic shade ES. When the adjustment unit 103a receives an instruction to start adjusting the image capture environment from the detection unit 102, it starts controlling the light blocking or transmission of the electronic shade ES based on the image captured by the camera C. For example, if the image is dark, the adjustment unit 103a changes the electronic shade ES to a light-transmitting state or controls it to increase its transmittance. For example, if the image is too bright and has blown-out highlights, the adjustment unit 103a changes the electronic shade ES to a light-blocking state or controls it to decrease its transmittance. Upon completing the adjustment of the image capture environment, the adjustment unit 103a notifies the authentication unit 104 that the adjustment of the image capture environment has been completed.

[0035] Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Fig. 8 is a flowchart showing the operation of the present disclosure. The difference from the first embodiment shown in Fig. 5 is that the authentication device 100a controls the electronic shade ES when there is no facial movement of the user being monitored (step S104). The other operations are the same as those of the first embodiment, so their description will be omitted.

[0036] As explained above, the present invention can be suitably applied to a vehicle equipped with an electronic shade ES.
