Abstract
Description
Closure device and medical connector equipped with the closure device
[0001] The present invention relates to an occlusion device for occluding the lumen of a tubular body and a medical connector equipped with the occlusion device.
[0002] Catheters that are inserted into lumens such as blood vessels of a patient have been known for some time. The doctor performing the procedure inserts a guidewire into the lumen of the catheter, causes the tip of the guidewire to protrude from the tip of the catheter, guides the catheter to the lesion along the guidewire, and places a device such as a stent or an embolization coil into the lesion through the lumen of the catheter that has reached the lesion.
[0003] In addition, a medical connector is generally connected to the base end of the catheter, and this medical connector is configured to allow a guide wire to be inserted through an inner lumen that passes through from the base end to the tip end.
[0004] For example, Patent Document 1 is recognized to describe a connector 1 that includes a valve body 5 made of an elastic material in which a passage 51 having a constricted portion 52 is formed inside a cylindrical body 4, and that by grasping a handle 61 and pushing an operating body 6 into the cylindrical body 4, the inner diameter of the valve body 5 is reduced and deformed, and an instrument 15 inserted into the inner surface of the constricted portion 52 is fixed so that it cannot slide (see Figure 2, etc.).
[0005] Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 7-163666
[0006] However, the connector 1 described in Patent Document 1 has a problem in that the inner diameter of the valve body 5 arranged in the same cylindrical body 4 is reduced and deformed by pushing the operating body 6 in the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical body 4, thereby reducing the inner diameter of the constricted portion 52. This means that the deformation efficiency is poor and leakage of blood, etc. cannot be sufficiently prevented during the procedure.
[0007] The present invention has been made in response to the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, and aims to provide an occlusion device for efficiently deforming the inner lumen of a tubular body to occlude the inner lumen of the tubular body, and a medical connector equipped with the occlusion device.

[0083] When the third lumen 5g is to be occluded using the occlusion device 2, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so that it moves distally. Then, the second pressing portion 9 moves distally via the threaded portion between the second pressing distal portion 9a and the housing base end 3c, and the first pressing portion 7 moves distally, compressing the distal bulge 5a of the elastic member 5 and occluding the third lumen 5g as shown in FIG. 3 .
[0084] Note that Figure 3 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the medical connector 1 equipped with the blocking device 2 after the lumen has been blocked, showing the state in which the guide wire G has been removed. However, even if the guide wire G is inserted, it is clear that the elastic member 5 adheres closely to the guide wire G, resulting in an entirely sealed state.
[0085] Next, a case where the third lumen 5g is opened using the occlusion device 2 of this embodiment will be described.
[0086] When using the occlusion device 2 to open the third lumen 5g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so that it moves toward the proximal end, in contrast to when occluding the third lumen 5g. Then, the second pressing portion 9 moves toward the proximal end due to the threaded portion between the second pressing tip portion 9a and the housing proximal end portion 3c, which allows the first pressing portion 7 to move toward the proximal end, and the compressed state of the elastic member 5 is released, thereby opening the third lumen 5g.
[0087] According to the occlusion device 2 of this embodiment, there is provided a housing 3 having a first lumen 3g1 and a wall portion 3b having a second lumen 3g2 formed on the distal side of the first lumen 3g1 and configured to allow an insert such as a guide wire G to be inserted therethrough; an elastic member 5 provided in the first lumen 3g1 of the housing 3 and having a base-end side portion 5b, a tip-side bulge 5a arranged on the distal side of the base-end side portion 5b and having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the base-end side portion 5b, and a third lumen 5g passing through the base-end side portion 5b and the tip-side bulge 5a and communicating with the second lumen 3g2; and a first pressing portion 7 arranged on the proximal outer periphery of the tip-side bulge 5a of the elastic member 5 and capable of pressing the base end of the tip-side bulge 5a in the distal direction, thereby enabling the elastic member 5 to be efficiently deformed to seal the third lumen 5g.
[0088] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 2 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 is rotatably connected to the base end of the housing 3 and is capable of pressing the base end of the first pressing portion 7, and the first pressing portion 7 is provided with a second protrusion 7b that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9. Therefore, the elastic member 5 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 5g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0089] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 2 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 has a fourth inner cavity 9g1 formed so that the base end side portion 5b of the elastic member 5 can be inserted therethrough, and therefore the elastic member 5 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 5g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0090] Furthermore, according to the medical connector 1 of this embodiment, the medical connector 1 is equipped with a blocking device 2, the second inner cavity 3g2 is capable of inserting an insert such as a guide wire, the base end side portion 5b of the elastic member 5 is arranged on the base end side of the housing 3, the tip side bulge portion 5a is arranged on the tip side of the base end side portion 5b, and the first pressing portion 7 is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulge portion 5a of the elastic member 5 and can press the base end of the tip side bulge portion 5a in the tip direction, so that the medical connector 1 can be used as a medical connector that efficiently deforms the elastic member 5 to seal the third inner cavity 5g.
[0091] Second Embodiment Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described. Note that the drawings used in this embodiment are also exaggerated to facilitate understanding, and the dimensions are different from the actual dimensions.
[0092] A second embodiment of the present invention will be described below, but parts common to the first embodiment will be given the same reference numerals and descriptions thereof will be omitted.
[0093] The occluding device 12 of this embodiment differs from the occluding device 2 of the first embodiment in that it has a first protrusion 15c in the third lumen 15g.
[0094] FIG. 7 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the second embodiment before the lumen is blocked, and FIG. 8 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the second embodiment after the lumen is blocked.
[0095] As shown in Figures 7 and 8, the medical connector 10 of this embodiment is used in a catheter that is composed of a long, hollow, approximately cylindrical catheter body 4b, a distal tip 4a connected to the distal end of the catheter body 4b, and a medical connector 10 connected to the proximal end of the catheter body 4b.
[0096] As shown in Figures 7 and 8, the medical connector 10 is connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, and includes a medical connector distal end 6 connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, an occlusion device 12 connected to the base end of the medical connector distal end 6, and a plug ner 8 disposed inside the base end side of the medical connector distal end 6, the base end of which abuts against the tip of the occlusion device 12.
[0097] As shown in Figures 7 and 8, the occlusion device 12 of this embodiment is connected to the base end of the medical connector tip 6, and includes a housing 3, an elastic member 15 arranged inside the base end side of the housing 3, a first pressing portion 7 that can press the elastic member 15 from the base end side toward the tip, and a second pressing portion 9 that is connected to the base end of the housing 3 and can press the first pressing portion 7 toward the tip.
[0098] The elastic member 15 is provided in the first inner cavity 3g1 of the housing 3 and comprises a hollow, approximately cylindrical base end side portion 15b (corresponding to the ``other end side portion'' of the present invention), a tip end side bulge portion 15a (corresponding to the ``one end side'' of the present invention) that is formed continuously with the tip side of the base end side portion 15b (corresponding to the ``one end side'' of the present invention) and is approximately spherical and has an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the base end side portion 15b, a third inner cavity 15g that penetrates the base end side portion 15b and the tip end side bulge portion 15a and communicates with the second inner cavity 3g2, and a first protrusion 15c that is located approximately in the center of the tip end side bulge portion 15a of the third inner cavity 15g and protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 15g.
[0099] The distal bulge 15a has an approximately spherical shape that conforms to the distal lumen shape of the first lumen 3g1, and the proximal side portion 15b has an approximately cylindrical shape that extends toward the proximal end from a position a predetermined distance toward the center from both ends of the distal bulge 15a.
[0100] The third lumen 15g has an approximately cylindrical shape with approximately the same diameter as the second lumen 3g2 at the distal bulge 15a, except for the first protrusion 15c, but in order to make it easier to insert an insert such as a guide wire G from the proximal end of the occlusion device 12, the diameter expands toward the proximal end of the occlusion device 12 at the proximal side portion 15b.
[0101] The first protrusion 15c has an approximately hollow disk shape in cross section, and as described above, is located approximately in the center of the tip-side bulge 15a in the third inner cavity 15g, protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 15g, and has an inner diameter smaller than that of the second inner cavity 3g2.
[0102] The elastic member 15 can be made of the same material as the elastic member 5 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, silicone rubber is used.
[0103] When the above-described occlusion device 12 is used to occlude the third lumen 15g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end and the first pressing portion 7 toward the distal end, the distal bulge 15a of the elastic member 15 is compressed, and the gap of the first protrusion 15c of the third lumen 15g is occluded as shown in FIG. 8 .
[0104] Note that Figure 8 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the medical connector 10 equipped with the occlusion device 12 after the lumen has been occluded, showing the state after the guide wire G has been removed. However, even when the guide wire G is inserted, it is clear that the elastic member 15 adheres closely to the guide wire G, resulting in an entirely sealed state.
[0105] On the other hand, when using the occlusion device 12 to open the third lumen 15g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move toward the proximal end, which is the opposite of the case of occluding the third lumen 15g. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the proximal end and allowing the first pressing portion 7 to move toward the proximal end, the compressed state of the elastic member 15 is released, thereby opening the first protruding portion 15c of the third lumen 15g.
[0106] According to the occlusion device 12 of this embodiment, there is provided a housing 3 having a first lumen 3g1 and a wall portion 3b having a second lumen 3g2 formed on the distal side of the first lumen 3g1 and configured to allow an insert such as a guide wire G to be inserted therethrough; an elastic member 15 provided in the first lumen 3g1 of the housing 3 and including a base-end side portion 15b, a tip-side bulge 15a arranged on the distal side of the base-end side portion 15b and having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the base-end side portion 15b, and a third lumen 15g passing through the base-end side portion 15b and the tip-side bulge 15a and communicating with the second lumen 3g2; and a first pressing portion 7 arranged on the proximal outer periphery of the tip-side bulge 15a of the elastic member 15 and capable of pressing the base end of the tip-side bulge 15a in the distal direction, thereby enabling the elastic member 15 to be efficiently deformed to seal the third lumen 15g.
[0107] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 12 of this embodiment, the elastic member 15 has a first protrusion 15c that protrudes radially inward from the third inner cavity 15g of the tip-side bulge portion 15a, so that the elastic member 15 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 15g.
[0108] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 12 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 is rotatably connected to the base end of the housing 3 and is capable of pressing the base end of the first pressing portion 7, and the first pressing portion 7 is provided with a second protrusion 7b that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9. Therefore, the elastic member 15 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 15g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0109] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 12 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 has a fourth inner cavity 9g1 formed so that the base end side portion 15b of the elastic member 15 can be inserted therethrough, and therefore the elastic member 15 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 15g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0110] Furthermore, according to the medical connector 10 of this embodiment, the medical connector 10 is equipped with an occlusion device 12, the second inner cavity 3g2 is capable of inserting an insert such as a guide wire, the base end side portion 15b of the elastic member 15 is arranged on the base end side of the housing 3, the tip side bulge portion 15a is arranged on the tip side of the base end side portion 15b, and the first pressing portion 7 is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulge portion 15a of the elastic member 15 and can press the base end of the tip side bulge portion 15a in the tip direction, so that the medical connector 10 can be used as a medical connector that efficiently deforms the elastic member 15 to seal the third inner cavity 15g.
[0111] Third Embodiment Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described. Note that the drawings used in this embodiment are also exaggerated to facilitate understanding, and the dimensions are different from the actual dimensions.
[0112] A third embodiment of the present invention will be described below, but parts common to the first embodiment will be given the same reference numerals and descriptions thereof will be omitted.
[0113] The closing device 22 of this embodiment differs from the closing device 12 of the second embodiment in the shapes of the housing, the elastic member, and the first pressing portion.
[0114] FIG. 9 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the third embodiment before the lumen is blocked, and FIG. 10 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the third embodiment after the lumen is blocked.
[0115] As shown in Figures 9 and 10, the medical connector 20 of this embodiment is used in a catheter that is composed of a long, hollow, approximately cylindrical catheter body 4b, a distal tip 4a connected to the distal end of the catheter body 4b, and a medical connector 20 connected to the proximal end of the catheter body 4b.
[0116] As shown in Figures 9 and 10, the medical connector 20 is connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, and includes a medical connector distal end 6 connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, an occlusion device 22 connected to the base end of the medical connector distal end 6, and a plug ner 8 disposed inside the base end side of the medical connector distal end 6, the base end of which abuts against the tip of the occlusion device 22.
[0117] As shown in Figures 9 and 10, the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment is connected to the base end of the medical connector tip 6, and includes a housing 23, an elastic member 25 arranged inside the base end side of the housing 23, a first pressing portion 27 that can press the elastic member 25 from the base end side toward the tip, and a second pressing portion 9 that is connected to the base end of the housing 23 and can press the first pressing portion 27 toward the tip.
[0118] The housing 23 has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape and includes a first inner cavity 23g1, a wall portion 23b formed on the tip side (corresponding to the "one end side" of the present invention) of the first inner cavity 23g1 and having a second inner cavity 23g2 formed so that an insert such as a guide wire G can be inserted therethrough, a housing tip portion 23a having a threaded portion on its inner circumference for connecting the connector base end 6a, a housing base end portion 23c having a threaded portion on its outer circumference for connecting the tip end of the second pressing portion 9, and a second surface 23d having an approximately truncated cone shape whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 25c described later.
[0119] The first inner cavity 23g1 of this embodiment comprises a distal inner cavity having an approximately truncated cone shape, and a proximal inner cavity having an approximately cylindrical shape that is formed continuously from the distal inner cavity and extends from both ends of the approximately truncated cone shape of the distal inner cavity toward the proximal end.
[0120] The wall portion 23b in this embodiment has a recessed portion on the proximal end side that is substantially frustoconical, forming a first lumen 23g1, and a flat surface on the distal end side that abuts against the plug end 8. The second lumen 23g2 is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape extending longitudinally from the center of the wall portion 23b, and has an inner diameter that allows an insert such as a guide wire G to be inserted therethrough.
[0121] The housing 23 can be made of the same material as the housing 3 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, ABS resin is used.
[0122] The elastic member 25 is provided in the first inner cavity 23g1 of the housing 23, and comprises a hollow, approximately cylindrical base end side portion 25b (corresponding to the ``other end side portion'' of the present invention), a tip end side bulge 25a (corresponding to the ``one end side'' of the present invention) that is formed continuously with the tip side of the base end side portion 25b (corresponding to the ``one end side'' of the present invention) and has an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the base end side portion 25b, a third inner cavity 25g that penetrates the base end side portion 25b and the tip end side bulge 25a and communicates with the second inner cavity 23g2, a first protrusion 25c that is located approximately in the center of the tip end side bulge 25a of the third inner cavity 25g and protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 25g, and a first surface 25d that is approximately truncated cone in shape and whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 25c.
[0123] The tip-side bulge portion 25a has an approximately truncated cone shape on the tip side and an approximately cylindrical shape on the base end side to conform to the tip-side lumen shape of the first lumen 23g1, and the base-end side portion 25b has an approximately cylindrical shape extending toward the base end from a position a predetermined distance toward the center from both ends of the tip-side bulge portion 25a.
[0124] The third lumen 25g has an approximately cylindrical shape with approximately the same diameter as the second lumen 3g2 at the distal bulge 25a, except for the first protrusion 25c, but in order to make it easier to insert an insert such as a guide wire G from the proximal end of the occlusion device 22, the diameter expands at the proximal side portion 25b toward the proximal end of the occlusion device 22.
[0125] The first protrusion 25c has an approximately hollow disk shape in cross section, and as described above, is located approximately in the center of the tip-side bulge 25a in the third inner cavity 25g, protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 25g, and has an inner diameter smaller than that of the second inner cavity 23g2.
[0126] The elastic member 25 can be made of the same material as the elastic member 5 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, silicone rubber is used.
[0127] The first pressing portion 27 in this embodiment has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape that covers the outer periphery of the base-end side portion 25b and is configured to be able to press the tip-side bulge portion 25a of the elastic member 25 from the base-end side toward the tip.It is arranged so as to be able to move longitudinally within the base-end inner cavity of the first inner cavity 23g1 and is equipped with a first pressing tip portion 27a that has an approximately vertical plane that follows the outer shape of the tip-side bulge portion 25a (the base end of the tip-side bulge portion 25a has an approximately vertical surface, unlike the first surface 25d), and a second protrusion 27b that is formed radially outward from the base-end side portion 25b and protrudes toward the base-end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9.
[0128] In addition, like the second protrusion 7b of the first embodiment, the second protrusion 27b has a contact area that is made as small as possible so that the rotational force of the second pressing portion 9 is not transmitted to the first pressing portion 27 as much as possible, and when viewed in cross section, it has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape with a short thickness.
[0129] The material for forming the first pressing portion 27 can be the same as that for the first pressing portion 7 in the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, polyacetal (POM) is used.
[0130] When the above-described occlusion device 22 is used to occlude the third lumen 25g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated to move toward the distal end. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end and the first pressing portion 27 toward the distal end, the distal bulge 25a of the elastic member 25 is compressed, and the gap of the first protrusion 25c of the third lumen 25g is closed as shown in FIG.
[0131] Note that Figure 10 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the medical connector 20 equipped with the occlusion device 22 after the lumen has been occluded, and shows the state after the guide wire G has been removed. However, even when the guide wire G is inserted, it is clear that the elastic member 25 adheres closely to the guide wire G, resulting in an entirely sealed state.
[0132] On the other hand, when using the occlusion device 22 to open the third lumen 25g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move toward the proximal end, which is the opposite of the case of occluding the third lumen 25g. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the proximal end and allowing the first pressing portion 27 to move toward the proximal end, the compressed state of the elastic member 25 is released, thereby opening the first protruding portion 25c of the third lumen 25g.
[0133] According to the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment, the occlusion device 22 includes a housing 23 having a first lumen 23g1 and a wall portion 23b formed on the distal side of the first lumen 23g1 and having a second lumen 23g2 formed so that an insert such as a guide wire G can be inserted therethrough, and a proximal side portion 25b and a distal side portion 25b provided in the first lumen 23g1 of the housing 23 and disposed on the distal side of the proximal side portion 25b and having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the proximal side portion 25b. The elastic member 25 has a bulging portion 25a and a third inner cavity 25g that penetrates the base end side portion 25b and the tip side bulging portion 25a and communicates with the second inner cavity 23g2, and a first pressing portion 27 that is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulging portion 25a of the elastic member 25 and can press the base end of the tip side bulging portion 25a toward the tip side, so that the elastic member 25 can be efficiently deformed to seal the third inner cavity 25g.
[0134] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment, the elastic member 25 is provided with a first protrusion 25c that protrudes radially inward from the third inner cavity 25g of the tip-side bulge portion 25a, so that the elastic member 25 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 25g.
[0135] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment, the tip-side bulge portion 25a has a first surface 25d whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 25c, so that the elastic member 25 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 25g.
[0136] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment, the wall portion 23d has a second surface 23d whose normal extends toward the first protrusion portion 25c, so that the elastic member 25 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 25g.
[0137] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 22 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 is rotatably connected to the base end of the housing 23 and is capable of pressing the base end of the first pressing portion 27, and the first pressing portion 27 is provided with a second protrusion 27b that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9. Therefore, the elastic member 25 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 25g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0138] Furthermore, according to the blocking device 22 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 has a fourth inner cavity 9g1 formed so that the base end side portion 25b of the elastic member 25 can be inserted therethrough, and therefore the elastic member 25 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 25g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0139] Furthermore, according to the medical connector 20 of this embodiment, the medical connector 20 is equipped with a blocking device 22, and the second inner cavity 23g2 is capable of inserting an insert such as a guide wire, and the elastic member 25 has a base end side portion 25b arranged on the base end side of the housing 23 and a tip end bulge portion 25a arranged on the tip side of the base end side portion 25b, and the first pressing portion 27 is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip end bulge portion 25a of the elastic member 25 and can press the base end of the tip end bulge portion 25a in the tip direction, so that the medical connector 20 can be used as a medical connector that efficiently deforms the elastic member 25 to seal the third inner cavity 25g.
[0140] Fourth Embodiment Next, a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described. Note that the drawings used in this embodiment are also exaggerated to facilitate understanding, and the dimensions are different from the actual dimensions.
[0141] A third embodiment of the present invention will be described below, but parts common to the first embodiment will be given the same reference numerals and descriptions thereof will be omitted.
[0142] The closing device 32 of this embodiment differs from the closing device 12 of the second embodiment in the shapes of the housing, the elastic member, and the first pressing portion.
[0143] FIG. 11 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the fourth embodiment before the lumen is blocked, and FIG. 12 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the fourth embodiment after the lumen is blocked.
[0144] As shown in Figures 11 and 12, the medical connector 30 of this embodiment is used in a catheter that is composed of a long, hollow, approximately cylindrical catheter body 4b, a distal tip 4a connected to the distal end of the catheter body 4b, and a medical connector 30 connected to the proximal end of the catheter body 4b.
[0145] As shown in Figures 11 and 12, the medical connector 30 is connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, and includes a medical connector distal end 6 connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, an occlusion device 32 connected to the base end of the medical connector distal end 6, and a plug ner 8 disposed inside the base end side of the medical connector distal end 6, the base end of which abuts against the tip of the occlusion device 32.
[0146] As shown in Figures 11 and 12, the occlusion device 32 of this embodiment is connected to the base end of the medical connector tip 6, and includes a housing 33, an elastic member 35 arranged inside the base end side of the housing 33, a first pressing portion 37 that can press the elastic member 35 from the base end side toward the tip, and a second pressing portion 9 that is connected to the base end of the housing 33 and can press the first pressing portion 37 toward the tip.
[0147] The housing 33 has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape and includes a first inner cavity 33g1 that is also approximately cylindrical overall, a wall portion 33b that is formed on the tip side (corresponding to the ``one end side'' of the present invention) of the first inner cavity 33g1 and has a second inner cavity 33g2 that is formed so that an insert such as a guide wire G can be inserted therethrough, a housing tip portion 33a that has a threaded portion on its inner circumference for connecting the connector base end portion 6a, and a housing base end portion 33c that has a threaded portion on its outer circumference for connecting the tip portion of the second pressing portion 9.
[0148] The wall 33b in this embodiment has a generally cylindrical recess on the proximal end side that forms the first lumen 23g1, and a flat surface on the distal end side that abuts against the plug liner 8. The second lumen 33g2 is formed in a generally cylindrical shape extending longitudinally from the center of the wall 33b, and has an inner diameter that allows an insert such as a guide wire G to be inserted therethrough.
[0149] The housing 33 can be made of the same material as the housing 3 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, ABS resin is used.
[0150] The elastic member 35 is provided in the first lumen 33g1 of the housing 33, and includes a hollow, generally cylindrical base end portion 35b (corresponding to the "other end portion" of the present invention), a tip end side bulge 35a (corresponding to the "one end side" of the present invention) that is formed continuously with the tip end side of the base end portion 35b and has an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the base end portion 35b, and a protrusion 35b that is formed between the base end portion 35b and the tip end portion The third inner cavity 35g is provided with a third inner cavity 35g that penetrates the bulge portion 35a and communicates with the second inner cavity 33g2, a first protrusion 35c that is located approximately in the center of the tip-side bulge portion 35a of the third inner cavity 35g and protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 35g, and a first surface 35e that is approximately truncated cone-shaped and abuts against a first pressing portion 37a (described later) and whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 35c.
[0151] The tip-side bulge portion 35a has an approximately cylindrical shape on the tip side and an approximately truncated cone shape on the base end side to conform to the tip-side lumen shape of the first lumen 33g1, and the base-end side portion 35b has an approximately cylindrical shape extending toward the base end from a position a predetermined distance toward the center from both ends of the tip-side bulge portion 35a.
[0152] The third lumen 35g has an approximately cylindrical shape with approximately the same diameter as the second lumen 33g2 at the distal bulge 35a, except for the first protrusion 35c, but in order to make it easier to insert an insert such as a guide wire G from the proximal end of the occlusion device 32, the diameter expands at the proximal side portion 35b toward the proximal end of the occlusion device 32.
[0153] The first protrusion 35c has an approximately hollow disk shape in cross section, and as described above, is located approximately in the center of the tip-side bulge 35a in the third inner cavity 35g, protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 35g, and has an inner diameter smaller than that of the second inner cavity 33g2.
[0154] The elastic member 35 can be made of the same material as the elastic member 5 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, silicone rubber is used.
[0155] The first pressing portion 37 in this embodiment has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape that covers the outer periphery of the base end side portion 35b and is configured to be able to press the tip side bulge portion 35a of the elastic member 35 from the base end side toward the tip end.It is arranged so as to be able to move longitudinally within the base end side inner cavity of the first inner cavity 33g1 and is equipped with a first pressing tip portion 37a that has a surface that follows the approximately truncated cone-shaped first surface 35e of the tip side bulge portion 35a, and a second protrusion 37b that is formed radially outward from the base end side portion 35b and protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9.
[0156] In addition, like the second protrusion 7b in the first embodiment, the second protrusion 37b has a contact area that is made as small as possible so that the rotational force of the second pressing portion 9 is not transmitted to the first pressing portion 37 as much as possible, and when viewed in cross section, it has a hollow, approximately cylindrical shape with a short thickness.
[0157] The material for forming the first pressing portion 37 can be the same as that for the first pressing portion 7 in the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, polyacetal (POM) is used.
[0158] When the above-described occlusion device 32 is used to occlude the third lumen 35g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end and the first pressing portion 37 toward the distal end, the distal bulge 35a of the elastic member 35 is compressed, and the gap of the first protrusion 35c of the third lumen 35g is closed as shown in FIG.
[0159] Note that Figure 12 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the medical connector 30 equipped with the occlusion device 32 after the lumen has been occluded, and shows the state after the guide wire G has been removed. However, even when the guide wire G is inserted, it is clear that the elastic member 35 adheres closely to the guide wire G, resulting in an entirely sealed state.
[0160] On the other hand, when using the occlusion device 32 to open the third lumen 35g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move toward the proximal end, which is the opposite of the case of occluding the third lumen 35g. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the proximal end and allowing the first pressing portion 37 to move toward the proximal end, the compressed state of the elastic member 25 is released, thereby opening the first protruding portion 25c of the third lumen 25g.
[0161] According to the occlusion device 32 of this embodiment, the occlusion device 32 includes a housing 33 having a first lumen 33g1 and a wall portion 33b formed on the distal side of the first lumen 33g1 and having a second lumen 33g2 formed so that an insert such as a guide wire G can be inserted therethrough, and a proximal side portion 35b and a distal side portion 35b provided in the first lumen 33g1 of the housing 33 and disposed on the distal side of the proximal side portion 35b and having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the proximal side portion 35b. The elastic member 35 has a bulging portion 35a and a third inner cavity 35g that penetrates the base end side portion 35b and the tip side bulging portion 35a and communicates with the second inner cavity 33g2, and a first pressing portion 37 that is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulging portion 35a of the elastic member 35 and can press the base end of the tip side bulging portion 35a toward the tip side, so that the elastic member 35 can be efficiently deformed to seal the third inner cavity 35g.
[0162] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 32 of this embodiment, the elastic member 35 has a first protrusion 35c that protrudes radially inward from the third inner cavity 35g of the tip-side bulge portion 35a, so that the elastic member 35 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 35g.
[0163] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 32 of this embodiment, the tip-side bulge 35a has a first surface 35e whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 35c, so that the elastic member 35 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 35g.
[0164] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 32 of this embodiment, the first pressing portion 37 can press the first surface 35e of the tip-side bulge portion 35a, so that the elastic member 35 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 35g.
[0165] Furthermore, according to the blocking device 32 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 is rotatably connected to the base end of the housing 33 and is capable of pressing the base end of the first pressing portion 37, and the first pressing portion 37 has a second protrusion 37b that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9. Therefore, the elastic member 35 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 35g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0166] Furthermore, according to the blocking device 32 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 has a fourth inner cavity 9g1 formed so that the base end side portion 35b of the elastic member 35 can be inserted therethrough, and therefore the elastic member 35 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 35g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0167] Furthermore, according to the medical connector 30 of this embodiment, the medical connector 30 is equipped with a blocking device 32, and the second lumen 33g2 is capable of inserting an insert such as a guide wire, and the elastic member 35 has a base end side portion 35b arranged on the base end side of the housing 33 and a tip end bulge portion 35a arranged on the tip side of the base end side portion 35b, and the first pressing portion 37 is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip end bulge portion 35a of the elastic member 35 and is capable of pressing the base end of the tip end bulge portion 35a in the tip direction, so that the medical connector 30 can be used as a medical connector that efficiently deforms the elastic member 35 to seal the third lumen 35g.
[0168] Fifth Embodiment Next, a fifth embodiment of the present invention will be described. Note that the drawings used in this embodiment are also exaggerated to facilitate understanding, and the dimensions are different from the actual dimensions.
[0169] Hereinafter, a fifth embodiment of the present invention will be described, but parts common to the first embodiment will be given the same reference numerals and description thereof will be omitted.
[0170] The closing device 42 of this embodiment differs from the closing device 12 of the second embodiment in the shapes of the housing, the elastic member, and the first pressing portion.
[0171] FIG. 13 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the fifth embodiment before the lumen is blocked, and FIG. 14 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a medical connector equipped with a blocking device of the fifth embodiment after the lumen is blocked.
[0172] As shown in Figures 13 and 14, the medical connector 40 of this embodiment is used in a catheter that is composed of a long, hollow, approximately cylindrical catheter body 4b, a distal tip 4a connected to the distal end of the catheter body 4b, and a medical connector 40 connected to the proximal end of the catheter body 4b.
[0173] As shown in Figures 13 and 14, the medical connector 40 is connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, and includes a medical connector distal end 6 connected to the base end of the catheter main body 4b, an occlusion device 42 connected to the base end of the medical connector distal end 6, and a plug ner 8 disposed inside the base end side of the medical connector distal end 6, the base end of which abuts against the tip of the occlusion device 42.
[0174] As shown in Figures 13 and 14, the occlusion device 42 of this embodiment is connected to the base end of the medical connector tip 6, and includes a housing 23, an elastic member 45 arranged inside the base end side of the housing 23, a first pressing portion 37 that can press the elastic member 45 from the base end side toward the tip, and a second pressing portion 9 that is connected to the base end of the housing 23 and can press the first pressing portion 37 toward the tip.
[0175] The elastic member 45 is provided in the first lumen 23g1 of the housing 23, and includes a hollow, substantially cylindrical base end portion 45b (corresponding to the "other end portion" of the present invention) and a distal end bulge portion 45a (corresponding to the "one end portion" of the present invention) that is formed continuously with the distal end side of the base end portion 45b and has an outer diameter larger than that of the base end portion 45b, and a distal end bulge portion 45a that penetrates the base end portion 45b and the distal end bulge portion 45a and communicates with the second lumen 23g2. a third inner cavity 45g having a first protrusion 45c located approximately in the center of the distal bulge 45a of the third inner cavity 45g and protruding radially inward of the third inner cavity 45g; a first surface 45d having a generally truncated cone shape that abuts against the second surface 23d of the housing 23 and whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 45c; and a first surface 45e having a generally truncated cone shape that abuts against the first pressing portion 37a and whose normal extends toward the first protrusion 45c.
[0176] The tip-side bulge 45a has an approximately truncated cone shape on the tip side and an approximately truncated cone shape on the base end side to conform to the tip-side lumen shape of the first lumen 23g1 and the shape of the first pressing tip end 37a, and the base end side portion 45b has an approximately cylindrical shape extending toward the base end from a position spaced a predetermined distance toward the center from both ends of the tip-side bulge 45a.
[0177] The third lumen 45g has an approximately cylindrical shape with approximately the same diameter as the second lumen 23g2 at the distal bulge 45a, except for the first protrusion 45c, but in order to make it easier to insert an insert such as a guide wire G from the proximal end of the occlusion device 42, the diameter expands at the proximal side portion 45b toward the proximal end of the occlusion device 42.
[0178] The first protrusion 45c has an approximately hollow disk shape in cross section, and as described above, is located approximately in the center of the tip-side bulge 45a in the third inner cavity 45g, protrudes radially inward of the third inner cavity 45g, and has an inner diameter smaller than that of the second inner cavity 23g2.
[0179] The elastic member 45 can be made of the same material as the elastic member 5 of the first embodiment, and in this embodiment, silicone rubber is used.
[0180] When the above-described occlusion device 42 is used to occlude the third lumen 45g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the distal end and the first pressing portion 37 toward the distal end, the distal bulge 45a of the elastic member 45 is compressed, and the gap of the first protrusion 45c of the third lumen 45g is closed as shown in FIG.
[0181] Note that Figure 14 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the medical connector 40 equipped with the occlusion device 42 after the lumen has been occluded, and shows the state after the guide wire G has been removed. However, even when the guide wire G is inserted, it is clear that the elastic member 35 adheres closely to the guide wire G, resulting in an entirely sealed state.
[0182] On the other hand, when using the occlusion device 42 to open the third lumen 45g, the second pressing portion 9 is rotated so as to move toward the proximal end, which is the opposite of the case of occluding the third lumen 45g. By moving the second pressing portion 9 toward the proximal end and allowing the first pressing portion 37 to move toward the proximal end, the compressed state of the elastic member 45 is released, thereby opening the first protruding portion 45c of the third lumen 45g.
[0183] According to the occlusion device 42 of the present embodiment, the occlusion device 42 includes a housing 23 having a first lumen 23g1 and a wall portion 23b formed on the distal side of the first lumen 23g1 and having a second lumen 23g2 formed so that an insert such as a guide wire G can be inserted therethrough, and a proximal side portion 45b and a distal side portion 45b disposed on the distal side of the proximal side portion 45b and having an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the proximal side portion 45b. The elastic member 45 has a bulging portion 45a and a third inner cavity 45g that penetrates the base end side portion 45b and the tip side bulging portion 45a and communicates with the second inner cavity 23g2, and a first pressing portion 37 that is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulging portion 45a of the elastic member 45 and can press the base end of the tip side bulging portion 45a toward the tip side, so that the elastic member 45 can be efficiently deformed to seal the third inner cavity 45g.
[0184] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 42 of this embodiment, the elastic member 45 has a first protrusion 45c that protrudes radially inward from the third inner cavity 45g of the tip-side bulge portion 45a, so that the elastic member 45 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 45g.
[0185] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 42 of this embodiment, the tip-side bulge portion 45a has first surfaces 45d and 45e whose normals extend toward the first protrusion 45c, so that the elastic member 45 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third lumen 45g.
[0186] Furthermore, according to the occlusion device 42 of this embodiment, the first pressing portion 37 can press the first surface 45e of the tip-side bulge portion 45a, thereby more efficiently deforming the elastic member 45 and sealing the third lumen 45g.
[0187] Furthermore, according to the blocking device 42 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 is rotatably connected to the base end of the housing 23 and is capable of pressing the base end of the first pressing portion 37, and the first pressing portion 37 has a second protrusion 37b that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion 9 on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion 9. Therefore, the elastic member 45 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 45g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0188] Furthermore, according to the blocking device 42 of this embodiment, the second pressing portion 9 has a fourth inner cavity 9g1 formed so that the base end side portion 45b of the elastic member 45 can be inserted therethrough, and therefore the elastic member 45 can be deformed more efficiently to seal the third inner cavity 45g without being affected by the rotation of the second pressing portion 9.
[0189] Furthermore, according to the medical connector 40 of this embodiment, the medical connector 40 is equipped with an occlusion device 42, the second inner cavity 23g2 is capable of inserting an insert such as a guide wire, the base end side portion 45b of the elastic member 45 is arranged on the base end side of the housing 23, the tip side bulge portion 45a is arranged on the tip side of the base end side portion 45b, and the first pressing portion 37 is arranged on the base end side outer periphery of the tip side bulge portion 45a of the elastic member 45 and can press the base end of the tip side bulge portion 45a in the tip direction, so that the medical connector 40 can be used as a medical connector that efficiently deforms the elastic member 45 to seal the third inner cavity 45g.
[0190] The above describes various embodiments of the closure device of the present invention and a medical connector equipped with the closure device, but the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments and can be implemented with various modifications within the scope of the gist of the present invention.
[0191] For example, in the above-described embodiment, the cross-sectional shape of the occlusion device and the medical connector equipped with the occlusion device is described as being approximately circular, but the cross-sectional shape of the occlusion device and the medical connector equipped with the occlusion device is not limited to being approximately circular, and may be any shape, such as rectangular, elliptical, polygonal, etc.
[0192] Furthermore, if the cross-sectional shape of the blocking device and the medical connector equipped with the blocking device is made to be a shape other than approximately circular, the cross-sectional shapes of the housing, elastic member, first pressing portion, and second pressing portion that constitute the blocking device will also be deformed accordingly.
[0193] However, if the cross-sectional shape of the closure device and the medical connector equipped with the closure device is made substantially circular, the third lumen can be more efficiently occluded.
[0194] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, a configuration has been described in which the second pressing portion 9 having a screw mechanism is used to press the first pressing portion toward the tip, but the second pressing portion 9 is not limited to one having a screw mechanism, and may also be a self-retaining type (alternate type) push button.
[0195] However, when the second pressing portion 9 having a screw mechanism is used, the amount of pressure applied by the first pressing portion can be finely adjusted, and ultimately, the degree of occlusion of the third lumen can be finely adjusted.
[0196] It is also possible to directly press the first pressing portion without using the second pressing portion 9 .
[0197] However, as mentioned above, using the second pressing part 9 having a screw mechanism allows for fine adjustment of the amount of pressure applied by the first pressing part, and ultimately allows for fine adjustment of the degree of occlusion of the third lumen.
[0198] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, a configuration was described in which the first pressing portion has a second protruding portion of a short, hollow, approximately cylindrical shape on the abutment surface with the second pressing portion, protruding toward the base end side of the second pressing portion. However, the cross-sectional shape of the second pressing portion is not limited to a hollow cylindrical shape, and may be any shape as long as it is hollow.
[0199] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, a configuration was described in which the first pressing portion has a second protrusion that protrudes toward the base end side of the second pressing portion on the contact surface with the second pressing portion, but the first pressing portion may be configured not to have a second protrusion.
[0200] However, if the second pressing portion is provided and its cross section is formed into a hollow cylindrical shape, the transmission of the rotational force of the second pressing portion can be suppressed in a balanced manner.
