Abstract

The multisystem food dehydrator is a form of technology that is used to dry various agricultural products using: Indirect sun drying, solar assisted drying and electricity. Dehydration preserves food and adds value by eliminating water from substances and reducing their weight. These enables easy storage due to reduction in volume of agricultural products and increases their usability. The cost of storage is lowered, packaging is improved and transportation becomes cheaper. The innovation runs on the following principle: retention of energy in the dark (black) chamber, controlled temperature, air outlet through vents on the sides of the dehydrator. The system entails: The sunlight hitting the box keeps the inner parts warmed hence dehydrating the food substances. The fan quickens the drying process and enables hot moisture evaporation by creating the density differential. The light through the glass top and door is converted to heat through the black surfaces. Both conventions (natural and forced) heat up the food substances leading to effective dehydration. Different foods dehydrate at different temperatures due to different moisture content levels and hence the need for measuring the temperatures.
