[0006] The article "a" preceding an element is not of a restrictive meaning and is understood to refer to "at least one" of the elements or "one or more" of the elements. The terms "a," "at least one," "one or more," and "at least one of one or more" may be interchangeable. As used herein, including in the claims, "or" as used in a list of items (e.g., a list of items followed by phrases such as "at least one of," "one or more of," or "one or both of") expresses a comprehensive list, for example, such that a list of at least one of A, B, or C implies A or B or C or AB or AC or BC or ABC (e.g., A and B and C). Furthermore, as used herein, the phrase "based on" should not be interpreted as a reference to a closed set of conditions. For example, an exemplary step described as "based on condition A" may be based on both condition A and condition B without departing from the scope of this disclosure. In other words, as used in this specification, the phrase "based on" should be interpreted in the same way as the phrase "based at least in part on." [0031] For example, in a network supporting NR 5G, a UE may transmit CSI reports to the network side, such as a base station associated with the network. CSI reports may include, for example, CSI feedback describing various CSIs. In some implementations, CSI feedback may include one or more forms based on the CSI format, frequency domain CSI report granularity (e.g., broadband, subband, etc.), and / or time domain behavior, such as periodic CSI feedback, non-periodic CSI feedback, semi-persistent CSI feedback, etc. For example, variations in channel characteristics caused by high UE rates or haphazard interference bursts may result in unequal coherence periods. Periodic CSI reporting may be inefficient due to unequal intervals between consecutive reporting times. For example, non-periodic CSI reporting triggered by network-based events, such as negative acknowledgments (NACKs) indicating decoding failures, causes delays. It should be noted that the UE may also provide high-speed updates to the CSI status due to sudden channel fluctuations or bursty interference.
[0032] The present disclosure relates to event-triggered CSI reporting based on UE-assisted signaling. For example, an enhanced BM framework is described that supports a multi-stage approach to event-triggered beam management (BM), comprising a beam acquisition phase (e.g., a step in which the UE engages in a beam acquisition process), a UE-assisted beam monitoring phase (e.g., a step in which the UE monitors beam features such as beam CSI), and a beam switching phase (e.g., a step in which the UE acquires a new beam for wireless communication). Furthermore, a set of beam switching conditions corresponding to UE-triggered beam switching events is described, wherein the UE can transmit an uplink (UL) signal when a subset of the set of beam switching conditions is satisfied. Furthermore, a beam switching framework is described that is triggered by a UL signal enabling high-speed beam updates, for example, based on a pre-configured CSI reporting setting.
[0033] By utilizing the described techniques, more efficient and accurate CSI reporting for beams becomes possible, which can reduce network overhead and improve signal quality as part of wireless communication.
[0034] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communication system.

In some implementations, the NEs (102) may communicate directly with each other. In some other implementations, the NEs (102) may communicate indirectly with each other (e.g., through the CN (106)). In some implementations, one or more NEs (102) may include subcomponents such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). The ANC can communicate with one or more UEs (104) through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as wireless heads, smart wireless heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs).
[0041] CN (106) may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. CN (106) may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), access and mobility management functions (AMF)), and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a P-GW (packet data network gateway), or a user plane function (UPF)). In some implementations, a control plane entity can manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signaling bearers, etc.) for one or more UEs (104) served by one or more NEs (102) associated with a CN (106).
[0042] CN (106) may communicate with a packet data network through one or more backhaul links (e.g., through S1, N2, N6, or other network interfaces). The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs (104) may communicate with the application server. The UE (104) may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or something similar) with CN (106) through NE (102). CN (106) may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and similar things) between the UE (104) and the application server using the established session (e.g., an established PDU session). A PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE (104) and CN (106) (e.g., one or more network functions of CN (106)).
[0043] In a wireless communication system (100), NEs (102) and UEs (104) can perform various operations (e.g., wireless communication) using the resources of the wireless communication system (100) (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or similar) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers)). In some implementations, the NEs (102) and UEs (104) may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs (102) and UEs (104) may support different frame structures. In some implementations, for example in 4G, the NEs (102) and UEs (104) may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, for example in 5G and among other suitable wireless access technologies, the NEs (102) and UEs (104) may support various frame structures (e.g., multiple frame structures). The NEs (102) and UEs (104) can support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.
[0044] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communication system (100), and the numerologies may include subcarrier spacing and cyclic prefixes. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. The third numerology (e.g., μ = 2) may be associated with a third subcarrier interval (e.g., 60 kHz) and a general cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. The fourth numerology (e.g., μ = 3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier interval (e.g., 120 kHz) and a general cyclic prefix. The fifth numerology (e.g., μ = 4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier interval (e.g., 240 kHz) and a general cyclic prefix.
[0045] Time intervals of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) can be organized according to frames (also referred to as wireless frames). Each frame may have a duration, for example, 10 milliseconds (ms). In some implementations, each frame may contain multiple subframes. For example, each frame may contain 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, 1ms. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.
[0046] Additionally or alternatively, time intervals of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may contain a number of slots (e.g., a predetermined quantity). The number of slots within each subframe may also depend on one or more numerologies supported by the wireless communication system (100). For example, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (e.g., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with their respective subcarrier intervals of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may each utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and sixteen slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may contain a predetermined number (e.g., a predetermined quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols). In some implementations, the number of slots (e.g., quantity) for a subframe may depend on the numerology. For a standard cyclic prefix, one slot may contain 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable to a 60 kHz subcarrier interval), one slot may contain 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for standard and extended cyclic prefixes may depend on the numerology. It should be understood that a reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier interval (e.g., 15 kHz) can be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.
[0047] In a wireless communication system (100), the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. based on frequency or wavelength. For example, the wireless communication system (100) may support one or more operating frequency bands such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz - 7.125 GHz), FR2 (24.25 GHz - 52.6 GHz), FR3 (7.125 GHz - 24.25 GHz), FR4 (52.6 GHz - 114.25 GHz), FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz - 71 GHz), and FR5 (114.25 GHz - 300 GHz). In some implementations, NEs (102) and UEs (104) may perform wireless communication through one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by NEs (102) and UEs (104), in particular, among other equipment or devices for cellular communication traffic (e.g., control information, data). In some implementations, FR2 may be used by NEs (102) and UEs (104), in particular, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.
[0048] FR1 may be associated with one or more numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies). For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology including a 15 kHz subcarrier interval (e.g., μ=0); a second numerology including a 30 kHz subcarrier interval (e.g., μ=1); and a third numerology including a 60 kHz subcarrier interval (e.g., μ=2). FR2 may be associated with one or more numerologies (e.g., at least two numerologies). For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology including a 60 kHz subcarrier interval (e.g., μ=2); and a fourth numerology including a 120 kHz subcarrier interval (e.g., μ=3).
[0049] According to the implementations, the NE (102) transmits a CSI reporting setting associated with an RS set to the UE (104). Additionally, the CSI reporting setting comprises at least two sets of CSI reporting setting parameters, including a first set of CSI reporting setting parameters corresponding to a first cycle of a first CSI measurement and a first CSI report for BM, and a second set of CSI reporting setting parameters corresponding to a second cycle of a second CSI measurement. The UE (104) generates one or more CSI reports using an event-triggered beam reporting associated with an RS set and based at least partially on at least two sets of CSI reporting setting parameters. The UE (104) transmits one or more of the CSI reports to the NE (102). The NE (102) may use one or more CSI reports for various purposes, such as optimizing wireless communication with one or more UEs.
[0050] With regard to CSI reporting in some wireless communication systems, codebook reports are partitioned into two parts based on the priority of the information being reported, and each part is encoded. The following is a list of parameters for the NR Release 16 Type-II codebook, including the content of the CSI report:
[0051] Part 1 : Rank Indicator (RI) + Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) + Total Number of Coefficients
[0052] Part 2 : Spatial Domain (SD) Basis Marker + Frequency Domain (FD) Basis Marker / Layer + Bitmap / Layer + Count Amplitude Information / Layer + Count Phase Information / Layer + Strongest Count Marker / Layer
[0053] Furthermore, Part 2 CSIs can be broken down into sub-parts, each with a different priority (e.g., higher-priority information is listed first). This partitioning can allow for dynamic reporting sizes for the codebook based on available resources in the uplink phase. Additionally, Type-II codebooks are based on non-periodic CSI reporting and are reported only in PUSCH via downlink control information (DCI) triggering (with one exception). Type-I codebooks can be based on periodic CSI reporting (PUCCH), semi-continuous CSI reporting (PUSCH or PUCCH), or non-periodic reporting (PUSCH).
[0054] For priority reporting of Part 2 CSIs, it should be noted that multiple CSI reports may be transmitted with different priorities, as shown in Table 1 below:
[0055]
[0056]
[0057] It should be noted that the priority of CSI reports can be based on the following:
[0058] 1. A CSI report corresponding to one CSI reporting setting for one cell may have a higher priority than another CSI report corresponding to one different CSI reporting setting for the same cell.
[0059] 2. CSI reports intended for one cell may have higher priority compared to other CSI reports intended for another cell.
[0060] 3. CSI reports may have higher priority based on their content; for example, CSI reports carrying L1-RSRP information have higher priority.
[0061] 4. CSI reports may have higher priority based on their type; for example, whether a CSI report is non-periodic, semi-continuous, or periodic, and whether the report is transmitted via PUSCH or PUCCH, may affect the priority of a CSI report.
[0062] Considering this, CSI reports can be prioritized as follows, where CSI reports with lower IDs have higher priority.
[0063]
[0064] s: CSI reporting settings index, and : Maximum number of CSI report settings
[0065] c: cell index, and : Number of serving cells
[0066] k: 0 for CSI reports carrying L1-RSRP or L1-SINR, otherwise 1
[0067] y: 0 for non-periodic reports, 1 for semi-continuous reports on PUSCH, 2 for semi-continuous reports on PUCCH, 3 for periodic reports.
[0068] For CSI reporting triggering, UEs can report CSI information for the network using the CSI framework in NR Release 15. The triggering mechanism between reporting settings and resource settings can be summarized in Table 2 below:
[0069]
[0070] Furthermore, the associated resource settings for the CSI report settings will have the same time domain behavior; periodic CSI-RS / interference management (IM) resources and CSI reports can be assumed to exist and be active once configured by the RRC; non-periodic and semi-continuous CSI-RS / IM resources and CSI reports can be explicitly triggered or activated; triggering of non-periodic CSI-RS / IM resources and non-periodic CSI reports is performed jointly by transmitting DCI format 0_1; and semi-continuous CSI-RS / IM resources and semi-continuous CSI reports are activated independently.
[0071] FIG. 2 illustrates an implementation (200) of an acyclic trigger state that defines a list of CSI report settings. For acyclic CSI-RS / IM resources and acyclic CSI reports, triggering can be performed jointly by transmitting DCI format 0_1. DCI format 0_1 includes a CSI request field (0 to 6 bits). The non-zero request field indicates a so-called acyclic trigger state configured by RRC (see FIG. 3). The acyclic trigger state is defined as a list of up to 16 acyclic CSI report settings identified by a CSI report setting ID, which the UE then calculates the CSI simultaneously and transmits it over a scheduled PUSCH transmission.
[0072] FIG. 3 illustrates the RRC configuration for NZP-CSI-RS / CSI-IM resources, FIG. 4 illustrates the RRC configuration for NZP-CSI-RS resources in (400), and FIG. 5 illustrates the RRC configuration for CSI-IM resources in (500). For example, when a CSI reporting setup is linked with an acyclic resource setup (which may include multiple resource sets), the acyclic NZP CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement, the acyclic CSI-IM resource set (if used), and the acyclic NZP CSI-RS resource set for IM (if used), to be used for a given CSI reporting setup, are also included in the acyclic trigger state definition. For acyclic NZP CSI-RS, the Quasi Co-Location (QCL) source to be used is also configured within the acyclic trigger state. The UE can assume that the resources used for calculating channels and interference can be processed by the same spatial filter that is quasi-co-located with respect to, for example, "QCL-TypeD".
[0073] Table 3 summarizes the types of uplink channels used for CSI reporting as a function of CSI codebook types.
[0074]
[0075] FIG. 6 illustrates partial CSI omission for Rel. 15 PUSCH-based CSI in (600). For example, in the case of non-periodic CSI reporting, PUSCH-based reports are split into two CSI parts: CSI Part 1 and CSI Part 2. This can significantly change the size of the CSI payload, and thus the payload size design method can result in significant overhead. CSI Part 1 has a fixed payload size (and can be decoded by gNB without prior information) and includes the following:
[0076] ㆍ RI (if reported), CRI (if reported), and CQI for the first codeword,
[0077] ㆍ Number of non-zero broadband amplitude coefficients per layer for Type II CSI feedback on PUSCH.
[0078] CSI Part 2 has a variable payload size that can be derived from the CSI parameters within CSI Part 1 and includes PMI and CQI for the second codeword when RI > 4. For example, if a non-periodic trigger state indicated by DCI format 0_1 defines three reporting settings x, y, and z, the non-periodic CSI reporting for CSI Part 2 can be ordered as shown in (600).
[0079] CSI reports can be prioritized according to the following:
[0080] 1. Time domain behavior and physical channel, where more dynamic reports are given priority over less dynamic reports, and PUSCH has priority over PUCCH.
[0081] 2. CSI content, where beam reports (e.g., L1-RSRP reports) have priority over regular CSI reports.
[0082] 3. (For carrier aggregation (CA) operations), the serving cell to which the CSI corresponds. The CSI corresponding to a PCell has higher priority than the CSI corresponding to Scells.
[0083] 4. reportConfigID.
[0084] In discussing antenna panels, antenna ports, quasi-collocations, transmission configuration indication (TCI) states, spatial relations, etc., the terms antenna, panel, and antenna panel may be used interchangeably. An antenna panel may be hardware used to transmit and / or receive radio signals at frequencies lower than 6 GHz, e.g., in frequency range 1 (FR1), or at frequencies higher than 6 GHz, e.g., in frequency range 2 (FR2) or millimeter wave (mmWave). In some implementations, the antenna panel may include an array of antenna elements, each antenna element being connected to hardware such as a phase shifter that allows a control module to apply spatial parameters for the transmission and / or reception of signals. The resulting radiation pattern may be called a beam, which may be unimodal or non-unimodal and may also allow the device to amplify signals transmitted or received from spatial directions.
[0085] In some implementations, antenna panels may or may not be virtualized as antenna ports in the specification. Antenna panels may be connected to a baseband processing module via a radio frequency (RF) chain for each of the egress and ingress directions. The capabilities of a device may or may not be transparent to other devices in terms of the number of antenna panels, their redundancy capabilities, their beamforming capabilities, etc. In some implementations, capability information may be communicated via signaling, or in some implementations, capability information may be provided to devices without signaling. Where such information is available to other devices, it may be used for signaling or local decision-making.
[0086] In some implementations, a device (e.g., UE, node) antenna panel may be a physical or logical antenna array comprising a set of antenna elements or a set of antenna ports that share a common or substantial portion of an RF chain (e.g., an in-phase / quadrature (I / Q) modulator, an analog-to-digital (A / D) converter, a local oscillator, a phase-shift network). A device antenna panel or "device panel" may be a corresponding logical entity to which physical device antennas are mapped. Mapping physical device antennas to a logical entity may depend on the device implementation. Communicating (receiving or transmitting) on at least a subset of antenna elements or antenna ports of an antenna panel active for radiating energy (also referred to herein as active elements) may involve biasing or power-on of the RF chain, which results in current drain or power consumption in the device associated with the antenna panel (including power consumption of a power amplifier / low noise amplifier (LNA) associated with the antenna elements or antenna ports). The phrase “active for radiating energy,” as used herein, is not intended to be limited to a transmitting function but also encompasses a receiving function. Accordingly, an antenna element active for radiating energy may be coupled simultaneously or sequentially to a transmitter for transmitting radio frequency energy or to a receiver for receiving radio frequency energy, or may generally be coupled to a transceiver to perform its intended functionality. Communicating on the active elements of the antenna panel enables the generation of radiation patterns or beams.
[0087] In some implementations, depending on the implementation of the device itself, the "Device Panel" may have at least one of these functionalities as an operational role of a unit of an antenna group for independently controlling its Tx beam, a unit of an antenna group for independently controlling its transmit power, and a unit of an antenna group for independently controlling its transmit timing. The "Device Panel" may be transparent to the gNB. For certain condition(s), the gNB or network may assume that the mapping between the device's physical antennas and the logical entity "Device Panel" may not change. For example, the condition may include the next update or report from the device, or may include a time duration during which the gNB assumes there may be no change to the mapping. The device may report its capability regarding the "Device Panel" to the gNB or network. Device capability may include at least the number of "Device Panels". In one implementation, the device may support UL transmission from one beam within a panel; If there are multiple panels, more than one beam (one beam per panel) may be used for UL transmission. In another implementation, more than one beam per panel may be supported / used for UL transmission.
[0088] In some of the described implementations, an antenna port is defined such that a channel carrying a symbol on the antenna port can be inferred from a channel carrying another symbol on the same antenna port.
[0089] Two antenna ports are referred to as quasi-co-located (QCL) if the major properties of a channel carrying symbols on one antenna port can be inferred from a channel carrying symbols on the other antenna port. Major properties include one or more of delay spread, Doppler spread, Doppler shift, average gain, average delay, and spatial Rx parameters. Two antenna ports can be quasi-co-located for a subset of major properties, and different subsets of major properties can be indicated by the QCL Type. The QCL Type can indicate which channel properties are identical between two RSs (e.g., on two antenna ports). Thus, RSs can be linked to each other based on what the UE can assume regarding their channel statistics or QCL properties. For example, the qcl-Type can take one of the following values:
[0090] - 'QCL-TypeA': {Doppler shift, Doppler spread, mean lag, lag spread}
[0091] - 'QCL-TypeB': {Doppler shift, Doppler diffusion}
[0092] - 'QCL-TypeC': {Doppler shift, mean latency}
[0093] - 'QCL-TypeD': {space Rx parameter}.
[0094] Spatial Rx parameters may include one or more of the following: AoA (angle of arrival), dominant AoA, mean AoA, angular spread, AoA's PAS (Power Angular Spectrum), mean AoD (angle of departure), AoD's PAS, transmit / receive channel correlation, transmit / receive beamforming, spatial channel correlation, etc.
[0095] QCL-TypeA, QCL-TypeB, and QCL-TypeC may be applicable to all carrier frequencies, but QCL-TypeD may only be applicable to higher carrier frequencies (e.g., mmWave, FR2, and above), in which case the UE may not be able to perform omni-directional transmission, and for example, the UE may form beams for directional transmission. In QCL-TypeD between two RSs A and B, RS A is considered to be spatially co-located with RS B, and the UE may assume that RSs A and B can be received with the same spatial filter (e.g., with the same receiver beamforming weights).
[0096] Depending on the implementation, an "antenna port" may be a logical port that corresponds to a beam (resulting from beamforming) or to a physical antenna on the device. In some implementations, a physical antenna may be directly mapped to a single antenna port, in which case the antenna port corresponds to the actual physical antenna. Alternatively, a set or subset of physical antennas, or an antenna set, antenna array, or antenna sub-array, may be mapped to one or more antenna ports after applying complex weights, cyclic delays, or both to the signals on each physical antenna. A set of physical antennas may consist of antennas from a single module or panel or from multiple modules or panels. The weights may be fixed, as in antenna virtualization schemes such as cyclic delay diversity (CDD). The procedure used to derive antenna ports from physical antennas may be unique to the device implementation and transparent to other devices.
[0097] In some of the described implementations, the TCI state associated with the target transmit may indicate parameters for configuring the quasi-colocation relationship between the target transmit (e.g., the target RS of the DM-RS (Demodulation Reference Signal) ports of the target transmit during the transmit occasion) and the source RS(s) (e.g., SSB (Synchronization Signal Block) / CSI-RS / SRS (sounding reference signal)) based on the quasi-colocation type parameter(s) indicated in the corresponding TCI state. The TCI describes which RS are used as QCL sources and which QCL attributes can be derived from each RS. The device may receive configurations of multiple transmit configuration indicator states for a corresponding serving cell for transmits on the serving cell. In some of the described implementations, the TCI state includes at least one source RS to provide a reference for determining the QCL and / or spatial filter (UE assumption).
[0098] In some of the described implementations, spatial relation information associated with a target transmission may indicate parameters for configuring the spatial configuration between the target transmission and a reference RS (e.g., SSB / CSI-RS / SRS). For example, the device may transmit the target transmission using the same spatial domain filter used for receiving the reference RS (e.g., downlink RS such as SSB / CSI-RS). In another example, the device may transmit the target transmission using the same spatial domain transmission filter used for transmitting the reference RS (e.g., UL RS such as SRS). The device may receive configurations of multiple spatial relation information configurations for a corresponding serving cell for transmissions on the serving cell.
[0099] In some of the described implementations, if the device is configured as a separate DL / UL TCI by RRC signaling, a UL TCI state is provided. The UL TCI state may include a source RS that provides a reference for determining a UL spatial domain transmit filter used for UL transmit within a Component Carrier (CC) or across a set of configured CCs / BWPs (e.g., dynamic grant / configured grant-based PUSCH, dedicated PUCCH resources).
[0100] In some of the described implementations, a common DL / UL TCI state is provided when the device is configured as a common DL / UL TCI by RRC signaling (e.g., the configuration of the common TCI or a separate DL / UL TCI is based on RRC signaling). The common DL / UL TCI state refers to at least one common source reference RS used to determine both DL QCL information and UL space transmit filters. The source RS determined from the indicated common (or common) TCI state provides a QCL TypeD indication (e.g., for a device-only physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) / physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)) and is used to determine a UL space transmit filter for a CC or across a set of configured CCs / BWPs (e.g., for a UE-only PUSCH / PUCCH). In one example, the UL space transmit filter is derived from an RS having a DL QCL TypeD in the common TCI state. The spatial setting of the UL transmission may follow a spatial relationship that references a source RS configured with a qcl-Type set to 'typeD' in the common TCI state.
[0101] Accordingly, the present disclosure provides solutions for event-triggered CSI feedback based on UE-assisted signaling. In the discussion herein, the following concepts are interchangeable: network nodes, transmit-receive points (TRPs), panels, antenna sets, antenna port sets, uniform linear arrays, cells, nodes, radio heads, communications associated with a CORESET (control resource set) pool (e.g., signals / channels), and communications associated with TCI states from a transmit configuration including at least two TCI states. Subsequently, a Tracking Reference Signal (TRS) may correspond to an NZP CSI-RS resource set configured with the parameter 'trs-info'. A CSI-RS for beam management may correspond to a CSI-RS associated with an NZP CSI-RS resource set configured with the parameter 'repetition'. A CSI-RS for CSI corresponds to an NZP CSI-RS resource set in which neither the parameter 'trs-info' nor the parameter 'repetition' is configured. A matrix can imply a sequence of fields of arbitrary dimensions, including arrays of values (vectors), standard 2D matrices, and more generally Q-dimensional matrices (tensors), where is an integer value. The terms "partial CSI update" and "event-triggered CSI reporting" may be used interchangeably. The terms "full CSI reporting" and "network-triggered CSI reporting" may be used interchangeably. The terms "event-triggered" and "UE-assisted" may be used interchangeably. For example, UE-assisted may refer to modalities involving a UE monitoring different defined events and triggering a CSI report based at least partially on the occurrence of one or more of those events. CSI frameworks and / or procedures associated with up to 3GPP Rel-18 may be referred to as legacy behavior. Furthermore, the described implementations and elements of the implementations may be combined in various ways.
[0102] Implementations include modes for event-triggered CSI reporting in Period 1. For example, in the first period of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, the network may configure the UE with CSI measurements and reports corresponding to beam management parameters, and one or more CSI reports are transmitted to the network by the UE. Several implementations are described below. According to possible implementations, one or more elements or features from one or more of the described implementations may be combined.
[0103] In the first implementation, the UE is configured with a CSI reporting setting, wherein the CSI reporting setting is associated with a CSI resource setting that includes an NZP CSI-RS resource set for BM, SS / PBCH, or a combination thereof. In the first example, the CSI reporting setting is associated with a reporting quantity that includes at least one of 'CRI', 'SSBRI', 'L1-RSRP', and 'L1-SINR'. In the second example, the CSI reporting setting is associated with a CSI resource setting in which the time domain behavior, e.g., resource type is set to either periodic or semi-continuous, wherein the CSI resource setting is associated with the first CSI resource periodicity. In the third example, the CSI reporting setting is associated with a time domain behavior (e.g., reporting configuration type) set to either periodic or semi-continuous reporting, wherein the CSI reporting setting is associated with the first CSI reporting periodicity.
[0104] In a second implementation, the UE is configured with at least one CSI reporting configuration comprising two sets of CSI reporting configuration parameters corresponding to CSI measurements and reporting for beam management. In a first example, the two sets of CSI reporting configuration parameters correspond to two CSI reporting configurations, wherein the first CSI reporting configuration includes two CSI reporting configuration IDs, the first CSI reporting configuration ID corresponds to the identification of the first CSI reporting configuration, and the second CSI reporting configuration ID corresponds to the identification of the second CSI reporting configuration associated with event-triggered CSI reporting for beam management. In a second example, the two sets of CSI reporting configuration parameters correspond to two CSI reporting subconfigurations, wherein the first CSI reporting subconfiguration corresponds to a legacy CSI reporting configuration, and the second CSI reporting subconfiguration corresponds to the second CSI reporting configuration associated with event-triggered CSI reporting for beam management.
[0105] Implementations include modes for event-triggered CSI reporting in Period 2. For example, in the second period of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, the network may configure the UE with CSI measurements and reports corresponding to beam management parameters, and the transmission of one or more CSI reports by the UE may be conditioned upon the occurrence of an event monitored by the UE. Several implementations are described below. According to the implementations, one or more elements and / or features from one or more of the described implementations may be combined.
[0106] In the first implementation, the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters may correspond to the second cycle of CSI measurement and reporting, where the second cycle of CSI measurement and reporting follows the first cycle of CSI measurement and reporting for BM. In the first example, the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is associated with a reporting quantity set to 'none'. In the second example, the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is associated with a second CSI reporting periodicity, where the value of the second CSI reporting periodicity is higher than the value of the first CSI reporting periodicity associated with the first set of CSI reporting parameters. In the third example, the reporting configuration type of the CSI report associated with the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is the same as the reporting configuration type of the CSI report associated with the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters.
[0107] In the fourth example, the value of the reporting quantity associated with the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is the same as the value of the reporting quantity associated with the first set of CSI reporting setting parameters. In the fifth example, the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is associated with the second CSI resource periodicity, and the value of the second CSI resource periodicity is greater than or equal to the value of the first CSI resource periodicity associated with the first set of CSI reporting parameters. In the sixth example, the resource type of the second CSI resource setting associated with the second set of CSI reporting setting parameters is the same as the resource type of the first CSI resource setting associated with the first set of CSI reporting setting parameters.
[0108] Implementations include modes for UE-monitored events for UE-assisted CSI reporting for BM. For example, if the UE is configured for event-triggered CSI measurement and reporting for BM and the UE is within the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, the UE may monitor a set of events defined by the network. Monitoring of the set of events is based, for example, on at least CSI measurements during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. Several implementations are described below. According to the implementations, one or more elements or features from one or more of the described implementations may be combined.
[0109] In the first implementation, at least one event of the event set is based on the fact that the first L1-RSRP value of the selected beam, measured (and reported) during the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, is greater than the second L1-RSRP value of the selected beam, measured during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, by at least a threshold amount. In the first example, the selected beam corresponds to an NZP CSI-RS resource having an ID reported as the CRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the second example, the selected beam corresponds to an SS / PBCH resource having an ID reported as the SSBRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the third example, the threshold is configured by the network as part of the second set of CSI report setting parameters, for example, from a set of pre-configured threshold values.
[0110] In the second implementation, at least one event of the event set is based on the fact that the first L1-SINR value of the selected beam measured (and reported) during the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework is greater than the second L1-SINR value of the selected beam measured during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework by at least a threshold. In the first example, the selected beam corresponds to an NZP CSI-RS resource having an ID reported as the CRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the second example, the selected beam corresponds to an SS / PBCH resource having an ID reported as the SBRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the third example, the threshold is configured by the network as part of the second set of CSI report setting parameters, for example, from a pre-configured set of thresholds.
[0111] In a third implementation, at least one event of the event set is based on the fact that the first L1-RSRP value of the first beam, measured (and reported) during the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, is smaller than the second L1-RSRP value of the second beam, measured during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, by at least a threshold amount. In the first example, the first beam corresponds to a first NZP CSI-RS resource having an ID reported as the first CRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the second example, the second beam corresponds to a second NZP CSI-RS resource having an ID reported as the second CRI value of the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the third example, the second beam corresponds to a second NZP CSI-RS resource having an ID not reported in the CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework.
[0112] In the fourth example, the first beam corresponds to a first SS / PBCH resource having an ID reported as the first SSBRI value of a CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the fifth example, the second beam corresponds to a second SS / PBCH resource having an ID reported as the second SSBRI value of a CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the sixth example, the second beam corresponds to a second SS / PBCH resource having an ID not reported in a CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the seventh example, the threshold is configured by the network as part of a second set of CSI report setting parameters, for example, from a pre-configured set of thresholds.
[0113] In the fourth implementation, at least one event of the event set is based on the fact that the first L1-SINR value of the first beam, measured (and reported) during the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, is smaller than the second L1-SINR value of the second beam, measured during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework, by at least a threshold amount.
[0114] In the fourth example, the first beam corresponds to a first SS / PBCH resource having an ID reported as the first SSBRI value of a CSI report corresponding to the first cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework.
[0115] In the fifth implementation, monitoring of at least one event of the event set may be based on a time constraint parameter. In the first example, monitoring of at least one event is configured as a time constraint for channel measurement, wherein the event is measured based only on the most recent occurrence of SS / PBCH, NZP CSI-RS, or a combination thereof associated with the CSI resource setting, where the event is not delayed compared to the CSI reference resource. In the second example, monitoring of at least one event is not configured as a time constraint for channel measurement, where the event is measured based only on SS / PBCH, NZP CSI-RS, or a combination thereof associated with the CSI resource setting, where the event is not delayed compared to the CSI reference resource.
[0116] In the third example, where monitoring of at least one event is not configured as a time constraint for channel measurement, the number of occurrences of SS / PBCH, NZP CSI-RS, or a combination thereof corresponding to the channel measurements is configured by the network. In the fourth example, where monitoring of at least one event is not configured as a time constraint for channel measurement, a time duration including at least one transmission occurrence of SS / PBCH, NZP CSI-RS, or a combination thereof is configured by the network, wherein the time duration is defined in units of milliseconds, slots, or at least one of the periodicity values of SS / PBCH or NZP CSI-RS.
[0117] Implementations include modalities for UE trigger signals corresponding to event-triggered CSI reporting for BM. For example, a UE configured with event-triggered CSI measurements and reporting for BM may transmit an uplink (UL) UE trigger signal to the network in the event of the occurrence of a subset of events among the set of events defined by the network. Several implementations of the UE trigger signal are described below. According to the implementations, one or more elements or features from one or more of the described implementations may be combined.
[0118] In the first implementation, the UL UE trigger signal takes the form of a Scheduling Request (SR) signal. In the first example, the SR signal is transmitted via PUCCH. In the second example, the SR signal is transmitted via the UCI of PUSCH. In the third example, the SR signal cannot be multiplexed with CSI reports, nor can it be multiplexed with HARQ-ACK (hybrid automatic repeat-request acknowledgment) signals. In the fourth example, the SR signal is associated with an event-triggered beam report, e.g., an SR via PUCCH or a UCI of PUSCH, where the identifier, e.g., SchedulingRequestID-EventTriggered-BM, indicates the configuration of the scheduling request, where the uplink resource allocation associated with the event-triggered BM-related SR is set to "null". In the fifth example, the UE cancels the SR associated with the event-triggered BM after receiving the first signal from the network, where the first signal corresponds to the DCI that schedules the PUSCH corresponding to a new CSI reporting setting, e.g., a non-periodic CSI reporting setting triggering.
[0119] In the second implementation, the UL UE trigger signal takes the form of a CSI report. In the first example, the CSI report is transmitted via PUCCH. In the second example, the CSI report is based on a report quantity associated with an event-triggered BM report. In the third example, the report quantity associated with the event-triggered BM report is a standalone report quantity, and, for example, no other report quantities are included in the CSI report. In the fourth example, the CSI report includes only one CSI report part.
[0120] In the 6th example, the indication of occurrence of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM further includes the identification of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM. In the 7th example, the indication of occurrence of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM further includes the identification of an NZP CSI-RS resource, e.g., CRI, the identification of an SS / PBCH resource, e.g., SSBRI, or a combination thereof, wherein CRI or SSBRI or a combination thereof corresponds to a UE-recommended beam based on measurements during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the 8th example, CSI reporting is transmitted through a configured resource, for example, based on a configured grant.
[0121] In the third implementation, the UL UE trigger signal takes the form of a UL report. In the first example, the UL report is transmitted via PUCCH. In the second example, the UL report is based on the reporting quantity associated with the event-triggered BM report. In the third example, the UL report is associated with the event-triggered BM report. In the fourth example, the indication of the occurrence of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM further includes the identification of the event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM. In the fifth example, the indication of the occurrence of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM further includes the identification of an NZP CSI-RS resource (e.g., CRI), the identification of an SS / PBCH resource (e.g., SSBRI), and / or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the CRI and / or SSBRI or a combination thereof may correspond to a UE recommendation beam based on measurements during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the 6th example, the UL report is transmitted through a configured resource, for example, based on a configured grant.
[0122] Implementations also include updated BM reports based on UE trigger signal values. For example, a UE transmitting a UE trigger signal corresponding to an event-triggered CSI measurement and reporting for a BM may further transmit a second UL signal containing additional BM reporting parameters compared with the said UE trigger signal. Several implementations of the second UL signal are described below. According to the implementations, one or more elements or features from one or more of the described implementations may be combined.
[0123] In the first implementation, the second UL signal corresponds to a CSI report. In the first example, the CSI report is based on at least a first set of CSI report setting parameters. In the second example, the CSI report is based on a second CSI report setting that is triggered after receiving a UE trigger signal.
[0124] In the second implementation, the second UL signal is a second CSI report containing differential parameter values based on corresponding parameter values in the first CSI report transmitted prior to transmitting the UL trigger signal. In the first example, the second CSI report corresponds to a report quantity associated with at least one of 'L1-RSRP' and 'L1-SINR', wherein the values of at least one of L1-RSRP or L1-SINR are calculated differentially based on the corresponding values in the first CSI report. In the second example, the second CSI report includes the identification of an event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM. In the third example, the second CSI report includes values associated with measurements corresponding to the event subset among the event sets associated with the event-triggered BM, e.g., a reduced value of the L1-RSRP value corresponding to the identified beam.
[0125] In the fourth example, the second CSI report includes the identification of NZP CSI-RS resources, e.g., CRI, the identification of SS / PBCH resources, e.g., SSBRI, or a combination thereof, wherein CRI or SSBRI or a combination thereof corresponds to a UE recommendation beam based on measurements during the second cycle of the CSI measurement and reporting framework. In the fifth example, the second CSI report is based on non-periodic CSI reporting via PUSCH.
[0126] In a third implementation, the second UL signal is reported through contention-based UL resources from a set of contention-based UL resource pools. In the first example, the second UL signal is transmitted after at least a period of time known to both the UE and the network has elapsed, for example, after a configured value of that period of time. In the second example, each UL resource pool among the set of contention-based UL resource pools is identified by an index. In the third example, the set of contention-based UL resource pools is based on contention-based resource allocation (CBRA) grants.
