Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for assisting golf putting and a method of operating the same, and more specifically, to a putting assist device and a method of operating the same that helps improve the accuracy of putting performed on a golf green. Background Technology

[0002] Golf putting refers to a shot where a putter is used to roll the ball onto the green and into the hole.

[0003] Referring to FIG. 1, a putter may include a grip (110), a shaft (130), and a club head (150). The grip (110) is the part where the golfer holds the putter. The shaft (130) is a long rod-like part connecting the grip (110) and the club head (150). The club head (150) is the part that directly strikes the ball.

[0004] In golf, putting is a very important part, accounting for approximately 40% of the total score. A golf putt is a shot in which a golfer must strike the golf ball with the appropriate force and in the correct direction, taking into account the golfer's swing, the slope of the green, the condition of the turf, and the weather at the golf course.

[0008] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the sensing unit can detect the movement of a golf club by a user using an acceleration sensor to collect acceleration data during the putting section, and can collect rotation information of the golf club using a gyroscope sensor.

[0009] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the processor can calculate the putting speed and force of the golf club based on the acceleration data to calculate the distance, and calculate the direction of travel based on the rotation information.

[0010] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the processor can correct the calculated distance and the calculated direction of travel based on information regarding putting conditions.

[0011] A method of operation of a golf putting assist device according to an embodiment of the present invention may include: a step of sensing putting data generated by a user’s putting; a step of calculating the distance and direction of travel of a golf ball based on the sensed putting data; a step of correcting the calculated distance and direction of travel by a preset method; and a step of outputting the corrected distance and direction of travel. Accordingly, the execution of said instructions, application programs, or software can be understood as the operation of the processor (350).

[0044] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the processor (350) can calculate the distance of a golf ball according to a user's swing by utilizing data provided from the sensor unit (310).

[0045] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the processor (350) can calculate the putting speed and force of the golf club based on acceleration data received from the sensor unit (310). In addition, the processor (350) can analyze the putting direction based on rotation information of the golf club received from the sensor unit (310).

[0046] The processor (350) can calculate the putting distance by taking into account the force applied to the golf ball and the swing angle.

[0047] Additionally, the processor (350) can perform a correction operation to remove noise from the calculated putting distance through a filtering and averaging process based on previously collected data. For example, the processor (350) can remove noise by utilizing a Kalman filter.

[0048] According to various embodiments of the present invention, the processor (350) can create an artificial neural network model using a machine learning algorithm based on previously collected data and analyze data patterns to improve the accuracy of calculating putting distance and direction.

[0049] An artificial neural network model according to one embodiment of the present invention may include a neural network for calculating the distance or predicting the direction of travel based on a user's putting. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the neural network may be composed of a set of interconnected nodes. A plurality of nodes refers to a plurality of neurons. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the nodes constituting the neural network may be connected by one or more links. In the neural network, one or more nodes connected through links may form a relationship between an input node and an output node.

[0050] In a relationship between an input node and an output node connected through a single link, the value of the data of the output node can be determined based on the data input to the input node. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the link interconnecting the input node and the output node may have a weight. The weight may be variable. Furthermore, the neural network according to an embodiment of the present invention may vary the weight by a user or a certain algorithm to predict additional actions required during training. For example, if one or more input nodes are connected to a single output node via a link, the output node may determine its value based on the values input to the input nodes connected to the corresponding output node and the weight set on the link corresponding to each input node.

[0051] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the performance of a neural network can be determined based on the number of nodes and links within the neural network, the relationships between the nodes and links, and the values of the weights assigned to each of the links. For example, if there exist two neural networks with the same number of nodes and links but different link weight values, the two neural networks can be recognized as different.

[0052] A neural network may be composed of a set of multiple nodes, and a subset of nodes constituting the neural network may be referred to as a layer. Some of the nodes constituting the neural network may form a layer based on the distance formed from a specific input node. For example, a set of multiple nodes with a distance of 'n' from a specific input node may form an 'n'-layer. The distance from a specific input node refers to the number of links that must be traversed to reach the node from the specific input node. However, this definition of a layer is merely an example and is not limited thereto.

[0053] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the number of nodes included in the input layer of a neural network may be the same as the number of nodes included in the output layer. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the number of nodes in the input layer of a neural network may be different from the number of nodes in the output layer.

[0054] A deep neural network (DNN) refers to a neural network that includes not only input and output layers but also at least one hidden layer. Deep neural networks allow for the identification of latent structures in data. For example, deep neural networks can be used to identify information specific to a learning process (e.g., unit task classification, value estimation, budget estimation, etc.). Deep neural networks may include convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, Generative Adversarial Networks, autoencoders, deep belief networks (DBNs), etc. However, these are merely examples and are not limited thereto.

[0055] Neural networks can be trained in at least one of supervised learning, unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning, or reinforcement learning.

[0056] Neural networks can be trained based on training data to minimize output errors. The neural network repeatedly receives training data and can calculate the error between the network's output and the target data based on the training data. To reduce the calculated error, the neural network can update the weights of each node by backpropagating the error from the output layer (or output node) to the input layer (or input node).

[0057] In supervised learning, neural networks can use training data (labeled data) where each training data point is labeled with a correct answer. In unsupervised learning, neural networks may not have correct answers labeled for each training data point. For example, training data used in supervised learning for data classification may consist of data where each training data point is labeled with a category. The neural network receives labeled data as input and can calculate the error by comparing the network's output with the labels of the training data. As another example, regarding the training data used as input in unsupervised learning for data classification, the neural network can calculate the error by comparing it with the network's output. The calculated error can be propagated backward within the neural network. Through backpropagation, the neural network can update the weights corresponding to the links of each node included in each layer of the network. The amount of change in the connection weights of each node being updated can be determined by the learning rate. The neural network's calculations on the input data and the backpropagation of the error can constitute a learning cycle. The learning rate can be applied differently depending on the number of iterations of the neural network's training cycle.

[0058] In neural network training, training data is generally a subset of real-world data (i.e., information specific to the training that the trained neural network intends to process). There may be cases where errors decrease on the training data but increase on real-world data. Overfitting is a phenomenon in which a model becomes excessively trained on the training data, leading to increased errors on real-world data. Overfitting can act as a cause for increased errors in machine learning algorithms.

[0059] A processor (350) according to an embodiment of the present invention utilizes methods such as regularization, which increases training data to prevent overfitting, dropout, which disables some nodes of the network during the training process, and a batch normalization layer.

[0060] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the processor (350) can distribute and store the data used to calculate the putting distance and direction of travel on a blockchain network to improve security.

[0061] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the processor (350) can register data provided by the sensor unit (310) with different and encrypted keys (hereinafter, encryption keys) for each data item. For example, the processor (350) can register the encryption keys by data type (e.g., acceleration data, rotation information, etc.), golf course, weather, and storage time. The processor (350) can manage the encryption keys by utilizing a Key Vault. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the processor (350) can store and access the corresponding encryption keys in memory (340) by utilizing an Azure Key Vault, an Oracle Key Vault, etc. According to various embodiments of the present invention, the encryption keys can be managed by utilizing a Hardware Security Module (HSM).

[0062] Meanwhile, the processor (350) can generate a block by utilizing data type, encryption key, location where data is stored, metadata, etc. Specifically, the processor (350) can generate a transaction including data type, encryption key, location where data is stored, metadata, etc., and the hash value of the corresponding transaction. The processor (350) can generate a block by including multiple transactions and a block header. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the block header may include the corresponding block hash value, previous block hash value, Merkle root hash value, version information, time information, nonce information, difficulty information, etc.

[0063] A blockchain network according to one embodiment of the present invention may be a network capable of ensuring the integrity and reliability of the recorded information without relying on an authorized third party by jointly verifying information to be stored on the network by a plurality of nodes participating in the network, and recording and sharing the verified information on the network. For example, according to one embodiment of the present invention, the blockchain network may be a network that is similar in at least some of its characteristics to those of conventional blockchain networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Quantum, MediBloc, etc. Furthermore, according to one embodiment of the present invention, such a blockchain network may be a concept that includes various blockchain networks, such as a private blockchain network, a public blockchain network, or a hybrid network of a private blockchain and a public blockchain.

[0064] Additionally, the processor (350) can correct the putting distance and direction of travel by considering various putting conditions (e.g., green slope, green speed, weather conditions, etc.) regarding the calculated putting distance and direction of travel. The processor (350) receives information on various putting conditions through user input and the process of receiving public data from a public server, and can calculate the putting distance and direction of travel based on this.

[0066] FIG. 4 is a conceptual diagram showing the operation of a golf putting aid device (200) according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0067] In step S401, the golf putting aid (200) can collect various sensing information measured by the user's putting.

[0068] The golf putting assistance device (200) can collect acceleration data during the putting section by utilizing an acceleration sensor to detect the movement of the golf club by the user.

[0073] According to various embodiments of the present invention, a golf putting assistance device (200) can calculate the distance and direction of travel of a user's putting by utilizing a pre-established artificial neural network model.

[0074] In step S405, the golf putting aid (200) can perform a correction of the values for the calculated distance and direction of travel. For example, the golf putting aid (200) can correct the putting distance and direction of travel by considering various putting conditions (e.g., green slope, green speed, weather conditions, etc.) for the calculated putting distance and direction of travel.

[0075] According to one embodiment of the present invention, a golf putting aid device (200) can correct the putting distance and direction of travel by utilizing a pre-established artificial neural network model.

[0076] According to various embodiments, the golf putting aid device (200) can perform correction to remove noise in a predetermined way with respect to the calculated distance and direction of travel. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the golf putting aid device (200) can remove noise by utilizing a Kalman filter.

[0077] In step S407, the golf putting aid (200) can output the distance and direction of travel to a display so that the user can check them.
