Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to an adsorption type air dryer, and more particularly to an adsorption type air dryer capable of increasing adsorption efficiency by eliminating flow that bypasses through the inner wall of the dryer housing. Background Technology

[0002] Generally, compressed air supply systems, which provide compressed air—an essential power source for factory automation equipment and various factories—include elements that remove impurities and moisture contained in the air compressed by an air compressor.

[0003] Compressed air is an essential element for the production of various products, but moisture and other harmful substances within it act as critical factors affecting quality, productivity, and durability during production.

[0004] Among these, moisture is one of the most harmful factors, and its removal through an air dryer is the most critical process in a Compressed Air Supplying System.

[0005] The air dryers used in the above compressed air supply system are broadly classified into refrigerated air dryers and adsorption air dryers.

[0006] The adsorption dryer to which this invention relates utilizes a physical method in which a substance adheres to a solid surface.

[0007] In the above-mentioned adsorption dryer, the adsorbent filled inside the dryer housing is a granular material with pointed ends or bead-shaped particles, and activated alumina (Al2O3) is mainly used.

[0008] The adsorbent in an adsorption dryer is usually called a gel and adsorbs water or steam. When moist compressed air passes through the adsorbent, the adsorbent combines with the moisture in the compressed air to form a mixture, causing the compressed air to lose moisture and become dry.

[0009] In a compressed air supply system, adsorption dryers are typically installed in pairs, and while one adsorption dryer removes moisture contained in the compressed air, the other adsorption dryer regenerates the adsorbent using air at low pressure and low humidity.

[0010] Consequently, adsorption dryers are the most widely used in most industrial settings and have a very wide range of applications. They are highly reliable as they can remove large amounts of moisture from compressed air, and they have long been widely used as industrial air dryers because they are easy to maintain and install, and can be used semi-permanently simply by replacing the adsorbent.

[0011] Meanwhile, in a conventional adsorption dryer as shown in Fig. 1, the adsorbent is distributed relatively sparingly on the inner wall of the housing, causing the fluid flow to be uneven and resulting in bypass flow where the compressed air and the adsorbent do not come into contact.

[0012] Due to this bypass flow of compressed air, moisture adsorption within the compressed air is not sufficiently achieved, resulting in a problem where moisture removal efficiency decreases. Prior art literature

[0014] The objective of the present invention is to provide an adsorption-type air dryer capable of increasing adsorption efficiency, which can increase the moisture removal rate of compressed air by blocking the flow of fluid bypassed through the inner wall surface of the dryer housing. means of solving the problem

[0015] Accordingly, the objective of the present invention is to provide an adsorption air dryer comprising: a dryer housing (10) configured as a cylindrical shape with upper and lower parts formed in a dome shape, wherein an inlet (11) for introducing compressed air is formed at the lower part and an outlet (12) for discharging compressed air from which moisture has been removed by an adsorbent (20) filled inside is formed at the upper part; and a resistor (30) installed to protrude from the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) so as to block the bypass flow of compressed air flowing along the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10), where the adsorbent (20) is less distributed and the flow resistance is relatively low, thereby inducing the compressed air to flow toward the center of the dryer housing (10), thereby increasing the moisture removal rate of the compressed air.

[0016] In addition, the position of the resistor (30) installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) is characterized by being installed at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m relative to the bottom position where the adsorbent (20) is filled.

[0017] In addition, the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) is characterized by having a resistor (30) installed at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m and a plurality of resistors (30) installed at a distance of 0.9 to 1.1 m.

[0018] In addition, the width of the resistor (30) is installed with a width of 0.8 to 1.2d relative to the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20). Effects of the invention

[0019] The present invention has the effect of increasing the moisture removal rate of compressed air by reducing bypass flow that cannot come into contact with the adsorbent through the installation of a resistor on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing to block the flow of bypass fluid. FIG. 2 is a drawing illustrating the configuration of an adsorption type air dryer according to an embodiment of the present invention. [0021] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the attached drawings.

[0022] FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating the configuration of an adsorption type air dryer according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0023] The adsorption air dryer of the present invention comprises a dryer housing (10) which is configured as a cylinder with upper and lower parts formed in a dome shape, has an inlet (11) formed at the lower part for introducing compressed air, and an outlet (12) formed at the upper part for discharging compressed air from which moisture has been removed by an adsorbent (20) filled inside; and a resistor (30) which is installed to protrude from the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) and blocks the bypass flow of compressed air flowing along the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10), where the adsorbent (20) is less distributed and the flow resistance is relatively low, thereby inducing the compressed air to flow toward the center of the dryer housing (10), so as to increase the moisture removal rate of the compressed air.

[0024] The above dryer housing (10) has upper and lower parts that are each shaped like domes, and compressed air introduced through the inlet (11) is filled with an adsorbent (20) inside a cylindrical body, and after moisture is removed as it passes through the adsorbent (20), the compressed air is discharged through the outlet (12).

[0025] The compressed air introduced through the inlet (11) passes between the adsorbents (20) to remove moisture, and at this time, the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) has a relatively low distribution of adsorbents (20) and thus has low flow resistance, so a large amount of the introduced compressed air flows along the inner wall surface, and moisture is not effectively removed.

[0026] As shown in Fig. 1, the compressed air introduced into the dryer housing (10) flows along the inner wall surface where flow resistance is low, and as the compressed air flows along the inner wall surface where the distribution of the adsorbent (20) is relatively low, it does not come into sufficient contact with the adsorbent (20), so the moisture removal rate decreases.

[0027] In the present invention, a resistor (30) is installed protruding from the inner wall surface to increase the moisture removal rate of compressed air by blocking the flow of fluid bypassed through the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) and ensuring sufficient contact with the adsorbent (20).

[0028] The resistor (30) is installed in a strip shape on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10), and if necessary, a plurality of resistors (30) may be installed at regular intervals.

[0029] The resistor (30) has a predetermined width inwardly from the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10).

[0031] FIGS. 3 and 4 are drawings showing the flow of compressed air depending on the presence or absence of a resistor (30) installed on the inner wall surface of a dryer housing (10).

[0032] Figure 3 shows that in a state where no resistor (30) is installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10), compressed air introduced through the inlet (11) flows in large quantities along the center at the bottom.

[0033] As compressed air flows to the upper part of the dryer housing (10), the amount of compressed air flowing to the center gradually decreases, and a phenomenon occurs in which the flow is concentrated on the inner wall surface, which has relatively less flow resistance.

[0034] In the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4, a resistor (30) is installed at a location where the flow of compressed air introduced bypasses to the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10). By blocking the flow of the bypassed fluid with the resistor (30) and directing it to the center of the dryer housing (10), sufficient contact time with the adsorbent (20) is ensured, so that moisture can be effectively removed.

[0035] At this time, the installation position of the resistor (30) installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) is preferably installed at an installation height (h) of 0.9 to 1.1 m based on the lower position where the adsorbent (20) is filled.

[0036] The compressed air introduced through the inlet (11) flows upward within the dryer housing (10), and the bypass flow gradually increases. As the bypass flow gradually becomes complete as it approaches the installation height (h) of 0.9 to 1.1 m, the flow of the bypassed air strikes the resistor (30) and is guided to the center of the dryer housing (10).

[0037] In the present invention, a plurality of resistors (30) may be installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10), and preferably, the first resistor (30) is installed at an initial installation height (h1) of 0.1 to 1.1 m, and the second resistor (30) is installed at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m higher than the first resistor (30) is installed at an initial installation height (h1).

[0038] In the dryer housing (10), moisture in the compressed air is removed by the adsorbent (20), and since the change in mass of the compressed air due to moisture removal is negligible, the compressed air introduced through the inlet (11) flows at a constant rate without change in flow velocity during the process of being discharged through the outlet (12).

[0039] Compressed air flowing within the dryer housing (10) without a change in flow velocity gradually increases the bypass flow along the inner wall surface and reaches a maximum flow velocity at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m intervals, so the first resistor (30) is installed at an installation height (h1) of 0.9 to 1.1 m relative to the lower position where the adsorbent (20) is filled.

[0040] After the bypass flow is reduced by the first resistor (30), the compressed air flowing within the dryer housing (10) gradually increases the bypass flow along the inner wall surface until it reaches a maximum flow velocity at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m, so the installation height (h2) of the second resistor (30) is such that the next resistor (30) is installed at a height of 0.9 to 1.1 m above the first resistor (30) to block the bypass flow.

[0041] Accordingly, the resistors (30) can be installed in multiple numbers at intervals of 0.9 to 1.1 m depending on the size of the dryer housing (10), and by continuously blocking the flow of bypass flow occurring at intervals of 0.9 to 1.1 m, the moisture removal efficiency of the compressed air can be increased.

[0042] Additionally, the resistor (30) installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) can be installed to protrude with a width of 0.8 to 1.2d of the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20) filled inside.

[0043] Preferably, the resistor (30) is installed to protrude with a width of 0.9 to 1.1d of the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20). More preferably, the resistor (30) is installed to protrude with a width of 1d of the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20).

[0044] When the installed width of the resistor (30) is less than 0.8d relative to the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20), as shown in FIG. 5, the bypass flow of compressed air is blocked by the resistor (30), so some of the compressed air is guided to the center of the dryer housing (10) by the resistor (30), but the remaining compressed air passes over the resistor (30) and bypass flow occurs again.

[0045] That is, since the bypass flow of compressed air is not completely eliminated by the resistor (30) and some of the compressed air continues to maintain bypass flow, the adsorption efficiency of the adsorbent (20) for the compressed air may be partially improved, but it is still difficult to eliminate the bypass flow.

[0046] In the case where the installed width of the resistor (30) is greater than 1.2d relative to the diameter (d) of the adsorbent (20), as shown in FIG. 6, the flow of bypass flow is blocked by the resistor (30), and then the compressed air hits the resistor (30) and is guided to the center of the dryer housing (10), so that the bypass flow can be blocked.

[0047] However, if the resistor (30) is installed with too much protrusion, the compressed air cannot flow to the upper part where the resistor (30) is installed, and as the space of the dead zone where it cannot come into contact with the adsorbent (20) widens, a section is formed where the moisture of the compressed air cannot be removed, and thus the adsorption efficiency of the adsorbent (20) for the compressed air decreases.

[0048] Therefore, in the present invention, the installation width of the resistor (30) is installed to be similar to the diameter of the adsorbent (20), thereby blocking the bypass flow so that the amount of flow passing over the resistor (30) is not large, allowing the compressed air to naturally flow to the center of the dryer housing (10) by the resistor (30). Although some dead zone may be created by the resistor (30), the volume of the created dead zone is not large, so the increase in adsorption efficiency that blocks the bypass flow is greater.

[0049] Furthermore, in order to block bypass flow that is repeatedly formed at regular intervals within the dryer housing (10), a plurality of resistors (30) are installed on the inner wall surface of the dryer housing (10) at intervals of 0.9 to 1.1 m, thereby enabling the blocking of bypass flow that occurs at regular intervals and increasing the adsorption efficiency.

[0051] Although specific embodiments have been described in the foregoing description of the present invention, various modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention should not be determined by the described embodiments but by the claims and equivalents thereof. Explanation of the symbols
