[0034] [Using high-density paper Honeycomb [Method of manufacturing a component]

[0035] The method for manufacturing a honeycomb member using high-density paper according to the present invention enables the production of a honeycomb member using high-density paper that has excellent tensile strength, elongation, and dispersibility, in addition to lightweighting and rigidity reinforcement, by manufacturing a paper honeycomb using high-density paper produced through a wet process as shown in [Figures 1] to [5], impregnating the paper honeycomb with resin, and then manufacturing the honeycomb member through drying and curing processes.

[0037] The following describes the configuration in more detail with reference to the attached drawings. Here, the manufacturing method according to the present invention involves manufacturing high-density paper, then manufacturing a paper honeycomb using the high-density paper, impregnating it with resin, and then undergoing drying and curing processes. Accordingly, the manufacturing process of the high-density paper is described first below, followed by a detailed description of the impregnation, drying, and curing processes.

[0038] a. Method for manufacturing high-density paper

[0039] The present invention manufactures high-density paper using a wet process comprising the following steps. The method for manufacturing such high-density paper comprises, as shown in [Figure 2], (S1) a step of preparing a first water by adding wood pulp to water; (S2) a step of preparing a second water by adding at least one type of fiber selected from carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber to the first water; (S3) a step of preparing a third water by adding a fiber-type binder to the second water; (S4) a step of preparing a fourth water by adding a foam inhibitor to the third water; and (S5) a step of manufacturing high-density paper by drying the fourth water.

[0041] 1. (S1) Step

[0042] Step (S1) is a step of preparing a first water as shown in [Figure 2]. At this time, Step (S1) includes (S1A) a step of adding a dispersant to the water; and (S1B) a step of preparing the first water by adding wood pulp to the water to which the dispersant has been added.

[0044] Here, the term “water” used in the present invention refers to water used for a specific purpose, and the “water” applied in the present invention refers to water, which is a solvent used to manufacture high-density paper.

[0046] In addition, the dispersant may be one or more selected from the group consisting of CMC (Carboxymethyl cellulose), CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), PVB (Poly vinyl butyral), PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone), PVP / VA (vinylpyrrolidone / vineylacetate), PAB (Poly butyl acetate), and EAB (Cellulose acetate butyrate ester). In this case, the dispersant may be added in an amount of 0.1 to 0.5 weight% relative to the total weight% of the water to maintain a constant viscosity of the water.

[0048] Meanwhile, among the terms used in the present invention, “wood pulp” refers to an aggregate of cellulose fibers obtained from wood by mechanical, chemical, or a number of conventionally known methods, and the wood pulp is a hard pulp and may be coniferous or hardwood pulp. Here, the wood pulp may be one or more selected from the group consisting of eucalyptus, pine, Korean pine, cottonwood, oak, fir, sawtooth oak, sawtooth oak, Italian poplar, Japanese zelkova, spruce, chestnut, beech, hornbeam, birch, alder, elm, acacia, willow, and larch. Additionally, the wood pulp may be included in an amount of 90 to 95 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of the total first water to improve the density of the high-density paper according to the present invention.

[0050] 2. (S2) Step

[0051] Step (S2) is a step of preparing a second water as shown in [Figure 2]. This step (S2) may include: (S2A) a step of adding a dispersant to the first water; (S2B) a step of adding at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber to the first water to which the dispersant has been added; and (S2C) a step of preparing a second water by dispersing the first water to which at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber has been added using a knife beater.

[0053] In the above step (S2A), the dispersant may be one or more selected from the group consisting of CMC (Carboxymethyl cellulose), CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), PVB (Poly vinyl butyral), PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone), PVP / VA (vinylpyrrolidone / vineylacetate), PAB (Poly butyl acetate), and EAB (Cellulose acetate butyrate ester). Additionally, the dispersant may be added in an amount of 0.1 to 0.5 weight% relative to the total weight% of the first water to maintain a constant viscosity of the first water.

[0055] In the above step (S2B), at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber may be added in an amount of 3 to 10 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of the total second water. Additionally, to improve the mechanical strength of the high-density paper being manufactured, these fibers may be fibers having a fiber length of 10 to 50 mm.

[0057] The knife beater used in the above (S2C) step can disperse at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber by arranging rotating blades located on the rotation axis at predetermined intervals.

[0059] 3. (S3) Step

[0060] Step (S3) is a step of preparing a third water as shown in [Figure 2]. This step (S3) may include (S3A) a step of adding a dispersant to the second water; and (S3B) a step of preparing a third water by adding a vinylon fiber-type binder to the second water to which the dispersant has been added.

[0062] Here, the dispersant may be one or more selected from the group consisting of CMC (Carboxymethyl cellulose), CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), PVB (Poly vinyl butyral), PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone), PVP / VA (vinylpyrrolidone / vineylacetate), PAB (Poly butyl acetate), and EAB (Cellulose acetate butyrate ester). In this case, the dispersant may be added in an amount of 0.1 to 0.5 weight% relative to the total weight% of the second water to reduce the entanglement of at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber in the second water.

[0064] In addition, the fiber-type binder is added in a state where at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber is dispersed, and may be added in an amount of 1 to 10 weight percent relative to the total weight percent of at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber. At this time, the fiber-type binder may be a vinylon fiber-type binder having a melting temperature of 60 to 80 ℃.

[0066] 4. (S4) Step

[0067] (S4) Step is a step of preparing a fourth water by adding a foam inhibitor to the third water as shown in [Figure 2]. At this time, the fourth water can be prepared by adding the foam inhibitor in an amount of 0.1 to 0.5 weight percent relative to the total weight percent of the third water.

[0069] 5. (S5) Step

[0070] Step (S5) is a step of manufacturing high-density paper according to the present invention by drying the fourth water as shown in [Figure 2]. This step (S5) includes (S5A) a step of manufacturing pre-paper by first drying the fourth water at 100 to 115°C; and (S5B) a step of manufacturing high-density paper by second drying the pre-paper at 115 to 130°C.

[0072] At this time, if the drying temperature exceeds 130℃ during the first and second drying, the fiber-type binder may become over-dried, causing the paper to be manufactured to become hard and cracks may form; and if the drying temperature is less than 60℃, the fiber-type binder may not melt, and the bonding strength of the paper to be manufactured may decrease.

[0074] In addition, in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is most preferable that the high-density paper according to the present invention be manufactured by a wet-laid method. When the high-density paper is manufactured by the wet-laid method, the dispersion of at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber is very uniform, so the gas permeability becomes uniform and it is possible to manufacture it with a low basis weight.

[0076] (of high-density paper manufacturing Examples )

[0077] A dispersant (CMC) was added to a raw material dissociation tank at 0.33% by weight relative to the total weight of the water, and when the dispersant was dissolved, hardwood pulp was added to produce the first water. At this time, the wood pulp was added at 92 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of the total first water.

[0079] A dispersant (CMC) was added at 0.33% by weight relative to the total weight of the first water, and at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber having a fiber length of 15 mm was added at 7% by weight relative to the total weight of the first water, and at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber was dispersed using a knife beater to produce the second water.

[0081] A dispersant (CMC) was added at 0.33% by weight relative to the total weight of the second water, and a fiber-type binder (VPB, 20D, 30 mm of KURARAY, Japan) was added at 5% by weight relative to 100% by weight of the total of at least one type of fiber among the carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber while the fibers were dispersed, to prepare the third water, and the mixture was transferred to a stirring tank.

[0083] A fourth water was prepared by adding a foam inhibitor at 0.15% by weight relative to 100% by weight of the third water. The fourth water was first dried at 110 to 115°C and then secondarily dried at 127°C to produce high-density paper according to the present invention.

[0085] (Evaluation of physical properties of high-density paper)

[0086] To confirm the basic physical properties of the high-density paper manufactured according to the present invention, the tensile strength, elongation, wet tensile strength, and air permeability (sec) of the high-density paper manufactured in the above examples were confirmed and are shown in [Table 1] below.

[0089] As can be seen in [Table 1] above, the high-density paper according to the present invention exhibits excellent physical properties in terms of tensile strength, elongation, wet tensile strength, and air permeability.

[0091] ( Examples : Surface structure verification)

[0092] To confirm the surface structure of the high-density paper manufactured according to the present invention, the surface structure of the high-density paper manufactured in the above example was confirmed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an optical microscope, and is shown in [Figure 3] and [Figure 4].

[0094] Referring to [Figure 4], it can be seen that at least one type of fiber among carbon fiber, glass fiber, and recycled carbon fiber is evenly distributed on the surface of the high-density paper manufactured in the above embodiment according to the present invention.

[0096] B. Paper Honeycomb manufacturing

[0097] The paper honeycomb according to the present invention is manufactured using high-density paper produced by the manufacturing method described above, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. The paper honeycomb is produced using a conventional technique in which high-density paper is bonded to form a certain pattern (most preferably a hexagonal structure) so that the overall shape becomes a honeycomb. Such a paper honeycomb may be manufactured as a single-layer structure or as a multi-layer structure.

[0099] C. Paper Honeycomb's profit impregnation

[0100] Resin impregnation of a paper honeycomb made of high-density paper is intended to allow the resin to penetrate through the surface of the paper honeycomb, thereby reinforcing the rigidity of the paper honeycomb.

[0102] In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is desirable to use a thermosetting resin so that the resin can be easily impregnated into a paper honeycomb made of high-density paper, thereby enabling the acquisition of sufficient desired rigidity. Examples of such resins include epoxy and epoxy vinyl ester.

[0104] Meanwhile, the impregnation of such resin may be carried out by ① stirring the resin to be impregnated as shown in [Fig. 5] and then ② directly impregnating the paper honeycomb into the stirred resin, or by spraying the stirred resin directly onto the paper honeycomb using a spray method.

[0106] In particular, to impregnate paper honeycomb with epoxy and epoxy vinyl ester resins using a spray method, the viscosity of the resin must be adjusted as shown in [Table 2] below so that spraying can be performed at an appropriate pressure.

[0107] subject Resin ratio (main component / ethanol) Viscosity (cps at 25℃) Injection pressure (BAR) epoxy 100 / - 15,000.0 Unable to spray 100 / 20 6224.4 4.2 100 / 50 520.1 2.0 100 / 100 105.4 1.5 Epoxy vinyl ester 100 / - 351.0 1.7 100 / 20 95.2 1.5 100 / 30 65.3 1.3

[0109] D. Paper Honeycomb's Drying and curing

[0110] The resin-impregnated paper honeycomb is dried and cured as shown in ③ and ④ of [Figure 5]. At this time, drying is performed at room temperature and curing is performed in an oven; drying is performed at room temperature (10~35℃) and curing is performed at a temperature of 95~120℃ for 20~60 minutes.

[0112] [Using high-density paper Honeycomb absence]

[0113] The present invention includes a honeycomb member using high-density paper manufactured by the method for manufacturing a honeycomb member using high-density paper described above.

[0115] Regarding the honeycomb member using high-density paper according to the present invention, the compressive strength was measured under different curing conditions for the conventional paper honeycomb (Class 1) and the examples (Classes 2 to 4) impregnated with resin (epoxy and epoxy vinyl ester), and the results are as shown in [Table 3] below.

[0116] division Psalter Curing conditions Maximum load (N) Compressive strength (MPa) 1 Existing paper honeycomb - 2142.10 0.39 2 Epoxy impregnated honeycomb Room temperature curing 15899.75 2.38 3 20 minutes at 110℃ 25955.50 2.54 4 Epoxy vinyl ester impregnated honeycomb 20 minutes at 100℃ 27311.94 2.57

[0118] As a result, compressive strength tests showed that the compressive strength of the resin-impregnated honeycomb increased by approximately 6.5 times compared to the conventional paper honeycomb, and this figure is evaluated to be not significantly inferior to that of the Nomex honeycomb produced by DuPont. In addition, when comparing Class 2 and Class 3 to evaluate the characteristics of the epoxy resin, it was confirmed that the paper honeycomb exhibited better mechanical strength when cured at high temperatures. Furthermore, since epoxy and epoxy vinyl ester have adhesive properties, they can also be applied to multilayer honeycomb sheet prepregs.
