Abstract

An instant messaging service method and apparatus are disclosed. A method of operation of a server providing an instant messaging service according to one embodiment may include: receiving a request to create a message for a gift; determining exposure conditions of a registered template based on the time at which the request to create a message is received and at least one of the products corresponding to the gift; providing a template list including a template satisfying the exposure conditions to a terminal of a sender who sent the request to create a message; and transmitting a message created based on a template selected by the sender to a terminal of a recipient of the message.
