Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation that can visualize the results of a survey on indoor environment resident satisfaction by linking the satisfaction surveyed for measuring post-resident satisfaction with three-dimensional spatial information. Background Technology
[0002] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport launched the 'Green Remodeling Support Project for Public Buildings' to reduce national greenhouse gas emissions and save energy in accordance with the 'Act on Support for the Creation of Green Buildings' effective from February 2013 (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, 2013).
[0003] This project provides technical and administrative support to promote the improvement of energy performance in existing aging public buildings. Since its initial implementation in 2013, it has provided project planning and construction support worth approximately 7 billion won to 107 locations by 2018, and 23 locations were selected in 2019 (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, 2018; 2019).
[0004] However, there are limitations in the budget and the number of supported buildings to induce energy performance improvements in 7.2 million existing buildings through this support program.
[0005] In addition, the National Research Council of Science & Technology (hereinafter NST), which operates and fosters government-funded research institutes in the science and technology sector, is establishing a plan for systematic environmental improvement through comprehensive inspections of energy performance, structural performance, etc., via the 'Study on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Plan for Environmental and Safety Improvement of Aging Facilities in Government-Funded Research Institutes.'
[0006] However, due to limited budget and time, this study also conducted a preliminary (visual) inspection and evaluation of 68 out of 253 buildings out of a total of 745 buildings across 25 government-funded research institutes that were over 20 years old or had a gross floor area of over 1,000 m², and evaluated only 37 buildings as subjects for detailed evaluation.
[0007] As such, although performance evaluation of buildings is important, it is difficult to conduct professional and wide-area primary surveys and evaluations simultaneously due to limited budget, time, and personnel.
[0008] Therefore, there is a need for new indoor performance evaluation methods and management tools that can easily assess the current status and condition of the indoor environment of existing buildings, thereby overcoming limited budget, time, and manpower.
[0009] Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) is generally defined as "research that obtains information for improving the living environment and reflecting it in future designs through the evaluation of a building by its users (residents, workers, etc.) after construction."
[0010] Generally, POE is considered an important factor in evaluating the value of a building's indoor environmental performance by assessing occupant satisfaction.
[0011] FIG. 1 illustrates the necessity and technical overview of the spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation of the present invention, and
[0012] FIG. 2 illustrates a foreign similar technology of a spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation of the present invention.
[0013] Since existing POE investigation methods require direct visits, time and costs increase rapidly as the scale of the target increases.
[0014] Furthermore, it points out a limitation that existing studies have been conducted restrictively in some buildings because it is difficult to expand the research subject indefinitely, highlighting the need for examination with a larger number of subjects and a wider distribution.
[0015] To overcome these limitations, the Center for the Built Environment (hereinafter CBE) at UC Berkeley, BUS Methodology in the UK, and BOSSA (Building Occupants Survey System Australia) in Australia provide web-based surveys.
[0016] CBE's web-based surveys allow for the rapid input and collection of information, which can shorten survey time and significantly reduce survey costs compared to traditional paper surveys. Additionally, the accumulation of database data reduces analysis time and enables the automatic analysis of trends and comparative analyses of post-resident evaluation data. Consequently, many organizations, including the U.S. General Services Administration, use CBE's web-based resident satisfaction surveys, and some protocols, such as EcoSmart and ASHRAE's Performance Measurement Protocol (PMP), recommend the use of CBE's web-based surveys.
[0017] However, the aforementioned techniques were designed for consulting specific buildings, so they had limitations in simultaneous, wide-area reviews.
[0018] In addition, by measuring the indoor environment of a two-dimensional plane and providing survey results, it was difficult to analyze the three-dimensional spatial information of the building and make a judgment up to the level of three-dimensional analysis.
[0019] Accordingly, the inventors of the present invention, in order to improve the aforementioned conventional problems,
[0020] To measure satisfaction after residence, we developed a spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-residence evaluation that can visualize the results of a survey on indoor environment resident satisfaction by linking surveyed satisfaction with 3D spatial information. [0022] The present invention is presented to resolve the various problems of the prior art as described above. Its purpose is to provide a spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation that can visualize the results of a survey on indoor environment resident satisfaction by linking the satisfaction surveyed for measuring post-resident satisfaction with three-dimensional spatial information.
[0023] In addition, through the present invention, not only can the time and cost of existing resident satisfaction surveys be significantly reduced, but it is also intended to contribute to simultaneous, wide-area building performance evaluation inspections.
[0024] Furthermore, CBE's web-based occupant satisfaction surveys were conducted primarily in North America, Europe, and Australia, and occupant satisfaction data regarding indoor environmental performance was analyzed based on these regions. While analysis results based on average values derived from benchmarking similar buildings could be utilized for domestic evaluations, the direct domestic application of CBE methods and results faces limitations due to differences in regional climate characteristics and national building characteristics. Therefore, it is believed that the design of Korean-style web-based survey questions and the development of a platform can evolve into a program capable of analyzing benchmarking among Korean buildings in the future. Accordingly, we intend to develop a Korean-style web-based occupant satisfaction platform (Korea Building Occupants Survey System, tentatively named K-BOSS) capable of measuring indoor environmental performance.
[0025] Furthermore, through the accumulation of survey response databases in the future, we intend to conduct various studies related to resident satisfaction, such as benchmarking statistical techniques and methods for analyzing correlations by factor, and ultimately develop a building condition analysis technique based on resident response information.
[0026] In particular, through POE studies at research institutions where research has not previously been conducted, this aims to serve as a foundation for accumulating a basic database to improve the working environment of researchers in those institutions.
[0027] And the present invention aims to increase the productivity of indoor building inspection work for building and facility managers, building performance evaluation consultants, etc., and

[0038] A spatial information-based online survey system for post-resident evaluation is provided, characterized in that the building is automatically searched and selected by the automatic positioning function of the mobile terminal.

[0045] According to the present invention, a spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation are provided, which can visualize the results of a survey on indoor environment resident satisfaction by linking the satisfaction surveyed for measuring post-resident satisfaction with three-dimensional spatial information.
[0046] Furthermore, through this invention, not only can the time and cost of existing resident satisfaction surveys be significantly reduced, but it also contributes to simultaneous, wide-area building performance evaluation inspections.
[0047] Furthermore, CBE's web-based occupant satisfaction survey was conducted primarily in North America, Europe, and Australia, and occupant satisfaction data regarding indoor environmental performance was analyzed based on these regions. While analysis results based on average values derived from benchmarking similar buildings could be utilized for domestic evaluations, the direct domestic application of CBE methods and results faces limitations due to differences in regional climate characteristics and national building characteristics. [0077] As a result of using a spatial information-based online survey system for the above-mentioned post-resident evaluation,
[0078] (1) A building usage satisfaction data collection step in which a user logs in using the above-mentioned dedicated application, searches for and selects a building, and registers the survey items by filling out a survey form;

[0090] And the above (2) step is characterized by being performed using x, y, z (3-axis) visualized data by layer and position provided in a dedicated application.
[0091] The online platform of the present invention was developed based on WordPress, and the database of the platform was created based on open source.
[0092] First, we collected public data (open data) provided by the Korean government, such as the Open API on the Vworld site operated by the Korea Spatial Information Industry Promotion Agency and the GIS Building Integrated Information site of the Korea Land and Geospatial Information Corporation.
[0093] In addition, polygon data of the building was collected by querying building information using the GIS Building Integrated Information Open API provided by the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatics Corporation.
[0094] The map program used in the system of the present invention performed the task of converting the coordinate system provided by the Korea Land and Geospatial Information Corporation Open API using the Leaflet open-source library.
[0095] To represent buildings as polygons on a map, you must use the function to draw lines on the map from this Leaflet library, and to draw lines with the Leaflet library, you basically need a list of latitude and longitude coordinates in the EPSG:4326 coordinate system.
[0096] Accordingly, the list of latitude and longitude coordinates provided in the EPSG:5174 coordinate system from the Korea National Geospatial Information Corporation Open API was converted to the EPSG:4326 coordinate system.
[0097] As mentioned earlier, the libraries and data used during development are open source or public data. This was done to reduce the burden of development and data collection costs.
[0098] The distinguishing feature of the present invention, which differs from existing online survey systems, is,
[0099] The key point is that the information collected through surveys is linked with the building's shape and spatial information.
[0100] In other words, the collected data is visualized in 3D, making it possible to identify where the problem is located in space (x, y, z).
[0101] 3D visualization is performed after collecting latitude, longitude (x, y) and floor number (z) information,
[0102] A method was adopted to map the survey results(s) (x,y,z,s) and represent them with appropriate colors.
[0103] Spatial information is specified by the user directly clicking the [x,y] latitude and longitude on the map screen. Subsequently, the user directly inputs the floor number [z] information, and the IEQ survey results are displayed.
[0104] Of course, the building can be automatically searched and selected and spatial information can also be automatically displayed by means of the automatic positioning function of the aforementioned mobile terminal without a click by the user.
[0105] And in the result output screen, a method is adopted to overlay it on an online map (satellite image; Vworld).
[0106] The interior space of the building is visualized using the Indoor3D API.
[0107] The present invention, developed in this manner, was created online to enhance the accessibility, responsiveness, and openness of the survey.
[0108] In addition, while existing result representations were centered on one-dimensional graphs or drawings, the present invention aims to enhance judgment based on intuition by representing them in a three-dimensional space.
[0109] For example, each response is expressed in 7 colors, such as very dissatisfied (red), neutral (yellow), and very satisfied (green).
[0110] The functions of the developed system of the present invention are divided into three categories: investigation, survey, and analysis functions.
[0111] (1) Investigation function
[0112] This function is for the screen that the survey participant (e.g., researchers, facility managers, building owners, etc.) encounters.
[0113] After logging in, the surveyor selects the target building, creates a questionnaire, and distributes it.
[0114] The selection of target buildings utilizes the building registry DB provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (National Spatial Information Portal API). Questionnaire generation is similar to Google Forms; however, the difference is that it was custom-developed to suit the research objectives using open-source libraries.
[0115] (2) Survey function
[0116] This feature pertains to the screen that the survey subject (respondent) faces.
[0117] After confirming the location and shape (shape polygon) of the building corresponding to the survey on the map on the distributed survey webpage, enter the exact 3D location information [x,y,z] of the respondent.
[0118] In this case, the 2D polygon shape of the building uses the Open API provided by GIS Building Integrated Information, and
[0119] The satellite images displayed on the map use the API provided by Vworld.
[0120] The Leaflet library is used to display the online map. Once the respondent's location information is entered, a "standard" resident satisfaction survey is conducted. The final response results are stored in the database along with the location information.
[0121] (3) Analysis function
[0122] This feature relates to the screen that the surveyor and the surveyee interact with.
[0123] For the 3D representation of collected information, the OSM (OpenStreetMap) API is used for web maps, and the Indoor3D API is used for 3D space.
[0124] 1. Building Attribute Information (Map + Building Polygon + Building Register)
[0125] 2. Separation by building floor
[0126] 3. Survey Module Linkage System (Survey Questions)
[0127] 4. Visualization of evaluation results by building, floor, and location
[0128] 5. National Map Building Display Function
[0129] FIG. 13 illustrates an example in which satisfaction levels by floor and location are qualitatively responded to through 3D modeling in the spatial information-based online survey system and method for post-resident evaluation of the present invention, and the features of the present invention are best illustrated.
[0130] As described, the above survey items are visually visualized on the dedicated application, and
[0131] The method involves storing and processing the survey items according to the spatial information of the building pre-built on the server, forming a 3D model in which the spatial information is implemented on the dedicated application or the internet, and visualizing the survey items analyzed on the server by linking them to the 3D model.
[0132] Therefore, vertical or horizontal zoning makes analysis easy,
[0133] Even if floor plans of the same structure are formed on each floor, different levels of satisfaction may be displayed on each floor due to differences in the age, gender, number of residents, and lifestyle patterns of internal members, as well as differences in floor-by-floor air conditioning systems, partitions, etc.
[0134] Even if it is a different floor, similar satisfaction levels may be displayed vertically due to orientation, direction, altitude of the sun, windows, etc.
[0135] Through such satisfaction analysis, it is possible to database user satisfaction corresponding to building usage patterns, and
[0136] It is possible to improve the living environment in a more advanced direction. To explain more specifically, as described above, when a user directly clicks and specifies spatial information [x,y] latitude and longitude on the map screen of the input module through the dedicated application and directly inputs floor number [z] information, the analysis module maps the survey items or survey results(s) to the spatial information (x,y,z,s), and the output module displays them in color.
[0137] It is advisable to classify the elements of the employee indoor environment satisfaction survey questions as follows.
[0138] 1. Personal Workspace Description
[0139] 2. Office Layout
[0140] 3. Thermal Comfort
[0141] 3-2. Temperature
[0142] 4. Air Quality
[0143] 5. Lighting
[0144] 6. Acoustic Quality (Noise)
[0145] 7. General Comments (Overall Evaluation)

[0149] Furthermore, by accumulating a database of survey responses, we will conduct various studies related to resident satisfaction, including benchmarking statistical techniques and methods for analyzing correlations by factor, and ultimately provide a building condition analysis technique based on resident response information.

[0152] By introducing this system to replace the existing inspection system, which involved touring every area to take photos and checking records on paper, it presents a path toward innovative digital building management capable of real-time, wide-area diagnosis.
[0153] Although the present invention has been described in relation to preferred embodiments as mentioned above, various modifications and variations are possible within the scope of the essence of the invention, and it can be used in various fields.
[0154] Accordingly, the claims of the present invention include modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of this invention.
