Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a cutting tool and a method for manufacturing the same, and more specifically, to a cutting tool having a diamond electrodeposited layer suitable for machining the inner surface of a horn antenna and a method for manufacturing such a cutting tool. Background Technology

[0002] Horn antennas are widely used in fields such as ships, satellite communications, and radar due to their broadband characteristics, high gain, and excellent radiation pattern characteristics. In particular, for horn antennas installed on the upper or external structures of a ship's cargo hold, stable communication quality must be maintained even in harsh marine environments such as salt, moisture, and vibration; therefore, the precision of the metal surface inside the antenna, the roughness of the inner surface of the waveguide, and the precision of the shape processing of the aperture and transition section are very important factors.

[0003] Horn antennas have a complex three-dimensional internal shape that combines curved and tapered forms, and such internal shapes are typically machined using cutting tools such as end mills. To machine such complex internal shapes, a method of machining the inner surface of the horn antenna by applying end mills of various diameters in stages is mainly used; however, this method has technical limitations in securing uniform radar signal reflection characteristics because the surface roughness is not uniform across different machined areas depending on the shape, angle change, and rotational speed of the end mill.

[0004] Furthermore, while horn antennas are generally machined by cutting metal blocks such as aluminum alloy, brass, and copper with end mills, this process can generate significant cutting loads on the working area of the end mill and induce micro-defects on the machined surface. Although end mills made of cemented carbide have been proposed to address these issues, even these cemented carbide end mills have not been able to fundamentally resolve the problems of increased surface roughness and machined surface defects on the inner surface of the horn antenna that occur as the end mill wears down. Specific details for implementing the invention

[0026] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of a cutting tool for machining a horn antenna and a method for manufacturing such a cutting tool according to one aspect of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Embodiments of the present invention may be modified in various forms, and the scope of the present invention should not be interpreted as being limited to the embodiments described below. These embodiments are provided to further explain the present invention in detail to those skilled in the art to which the present invention pertains. Accordingly, the shape of each element shown in the drawings may be emphasized or exaggerated for clearer explanation.

[0028] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the horn antenna (1) is manufactured to have a complex three-dimensional internal shape (2) in which curved and tapered shapes are mixed, and it is common to process the internal shape (2) of the horn antenna (1) through a cutting operation.

[0030] Hereinafter, a cutting tool (10) for processing a horn antenna according to one aspect of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 3 to 5.

[0032] A cutting tool (10) for processing a horn antenna according to one aspect of the present invention may include a body member (100) and a coating layer (200) formed on the surface of the body member.

[0033] The body member (100) may include a conical processing part (110) and a cylindrical connecting part (120) with one end connected to the bottom surface of the processing part (110). The central axis of the processing part (110) and the central axis of the connecting part (120) may be arranged in a straight line, and the processing part (110) may be rotated by the connecting part (120) being fastened to a holder part (not shown) of a rotating body. The body member (100) may be manufactured integrally using medium carbon alloy steel containing chromium and molybdenum, and may be manufactured to have a surface hardness of HRC 30 to 32 through quenching and tempering treatments. Preferably, the body member (100) may be manufactured using SCM440.

[0034] According to the results of the inventor's research, it was confirmed that the size and side slope of the processing part (110) have a significant impact on surface quality and work efficiency when processing the inner surface of the horn antenna (1). If the diameter of the bottom surface of the processing part (110) is excessively large, it is difficult to flexibly adapt to the internal shape of the horn antenna (1), and a large dimensional error may occur during processing. On the other hand, if the diameter of the bottom surface of the processing part (110) is excessively small, excessive processing time may be required for curved surface processing, which may reduce work efficiency, and the load per unit area applied to the cutting tool (10) during processing may increase, thereby increasing the risk of wear and breakage of the cutting tool (10). Therefore, the bottom surface diameter (d1) of the processing part (110) may preferably be in the range of 50 to 55 mm. The most preferred bottom surface diameter (d1) of the processing part (110) may be 53 mm. If the side slope (θ) of the processed part (110) is excessively large, the possibility of localized pressure occurring on the inner surface of the horn antenna (1) increases, and consequently, the surface quality of the processed surface may deteriorate. On the other hand, if the side slope (θ) of the processed part (100) is excessively small, there is a possibility that the inner curvature of the horn antenna (1) may not be sufficiently realized. Therefore, the height (h1) of the processed part relative to the bottom diameter (d1) of the processed part (110) of 50 to 55 mm may preferably be in the range of 100 to 110 mm. The most desirable height (h1) of the processed part (110) may be 105 mm.

[0035] To accommodate connection with the holder portion (not shown) and the internal shape of the complex horn antenna (1), the connecting portion (120) may be provided with a diameter (d2) smaller than the bottom diameter (d1) of the processing portion (110). A preferred diameter (d2) of the connecting portion (120) may be 27 to 33 mm, and a more preferred diameter (d2) of the connecting portion (120) may be 30 mm. Meanwhile, the height (h2) of the connecting portion (120) may be varied and applied according to the shape of the holder portion (not shown), but a preferred height (h2) of the connecting portion (120) may be in the range of 30 to 40 mm. A more preferred height (h2) of the connecting portion (120) may be 35 mm.

[0036] A V-shaped groove (111) may be formed in a recess on the side surface of the processing part (120), extending from the bottom surface of the processing part (120) toward the vertex of the processing part (120). The V-shaped groove (111) may be formed in a spiral shape extending along the circumferential direction of the side surface of the processing part (120) from a point on the bottom surface of the processing part (120) toward the vertex of the processing part (120). The V-shaped groove (111) may be formed in a spiral shape that rotates about 2 to 5 times from a point on the bottom surface of the processing part (120) toward the vertex of the processing part (120), and preferably, it may be formed in a spiral shape that rotates about 3 to 4 times from a point on the bottom surface of the processing part (120) toward the vertex of the processing part (120). A diamond electrodeposition layer (210), which will be described later, may be formed on the surface of the V-shaped groove (111).

[0037] If the depth of indentation (h3) of the V-shaped groove (111) and the center angle (θ2) of the V-shaped groove (111) are insufficient, the discharge of cutting fluid is not smooth, and a sticking phenomenon may occur during the processing of the internal shape of the horn antenna (1). Therefore, it may be desirable to limit the depth of indentation (h3) of the V-shaped groove (111) and the center angle (θ2) of the V-shaped groove (111) to 0.5 mm or more and 40° or more, respectively. On the other hand, if the depth of indentation (h3) of the V-shaped groove (111) and the center angle (θ2) of the V-shaped groove (111) are excessive, it may cause a deterioration in the internal surface quality of the horn antenna (1) as well as a decrease in the rigidity of the body member (100) itself. Therefore, it may be desirable to limit the depth of indentation (h3) of the V-shaped groove (111) and the center angle (θ2) of the V-shaped groove (111) to 1.0 mm or less and 60° or less, respectively.

[0038] A body member (100) may be provided with a first flow path (130) that extends through the connecting part (120) along the central axis of the connecting part (120) to the middle part of the processing part (110), and a plurality of second flow paths (140) that extend from the first flow path (130) toward the V-shaped groove (111) may be formed through the interior of the processing part (111). Although FIG. 4 shows three second flow paths (140a to 140c) formed in parallel, the number and location of the second flow paths (140) are not necessarily limited thereto, and the number and location of the second flow paths (140) may be varied and applied in various ways. The tip of the second flow path (140) may be connected to the outside through a discharge hole (111') formed inside the V-shaped groove (111). When the internal shape of a horn antenna (1) is processed using a cutting tool (10) for processing a horn antenna according to one aspect of the present invention, a non-water-soluble cutting fluid passes sequentially through a first fluid path (130) and a second fluid path (140) and is discharged through a discharge hole (111') formed in a V-shaped groove (111), thereby effectively preventing the phenomenon of sticking that may occur during cutting.

[0039] A diamond electrodeposition layer (210) containing diamond particles may be formed on the side surface of the processed portion (110), including the surface of the V-shaped groove (111). The diamond electrodeposition layer (210) is formed by a diamond electrodeposition solution containing 200-500 g / L of NiSO4, 30-90 g / L of NiCl2, 30-40 g / L of H3BO3, 370-740 g / L of diamond particles, and pure water, at a concentration of 2-6 A / dm 2 It can be formed by electroplating for 0.5 to 1 hour at a current density. The diamond electrodeposited layer (210) formed in this way may contain 50 to 55 weight percent of diamond particles, 3 to 5 weight percent of boron (B), and the remainder being nickel (Ni) and other unavoidable impurities relative to the weight of the entire diamond electrodeposited layer (210).

[0040] The average particle size of the diamond particles and the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) can be applied separately to a first cutting tool (10a) used for initial cutting operations and a second cutting tool (10b) used for finishing cutting operations. The first cutting tool (10a) is used for an initial stage operation to create a rough shape by rapidly removing a large amount of unnecessary material from the workpiece. The diamond electrodeposited layer (210a) of the first cutting tool (10a) may contain diamond particles having an average particle size of 150 to 250 grits, and the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210a) may be in the range of 0.08 to 0.12 mm. More preferably, the diamond electrodeposited layer (210a) of the first cutting tool (10a) may contain diamond particles having an average particle size of 200 grits, and the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210a) may be 0.1 mm. The average spacing of diamond particles distributed in the diamond electrodeposited layer (210a) of the first cutting tool (10a) may be 65 to 75 μm, and the average protrusion height of the diamond particles may be 5 to 10 μm. Here, the protrusion height of the diamond particles may refer to the height of the diamond particles protruding from the plating film. Meanwhile, the second cutting tool (10b) is used for a finishing operation to smooth the inner surface of the horn antenna (1) and accurately adjust the dimensions after the initial cutting operation by the first cutting tool (10a). The diamond electrodeposited layer (210b) of the second cutting tool (10b) may contain diamond particles having an average particle size of 550 to 650 grit, and the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210b) may be in the range of 0.02 to 0.06 mm. More preferably, the diamond electrodeposited layer (210b) of the second cutting tool (10b) may contain diamond particles having an average particle size of 600 grit, and the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210b) may be 0.04 mm.The average spacing of diamond particles distributed in the diamond electrodeposited layer (210b) of the second cutting tool (10b) may be 20 to 25 μm, and the average protrusion height of the diamond particles may be 3 to 6 μm. Here, the protrusion height of the diamond particles may refer to the height of the diamond particles protruding from the plating film.

[0041] Conventionally, a worker processed the inner surface of a horn antenna (1) by switching end mills of various sizes during the process. However, when processing the inner surface of a horn antenna (1) using a cutting tool (10) for processing a horn antenna according to one aspect of the present invention, the worker completes the initial work using a first cutting tool (10a) and then replaces the first cutting tool (10a) with a second cutting tool (10b) to complete the processing of the inner surface of the horn antenna (1), thereby allowing for more effective improvement of work efficiency.

[0042] As illustrated in FIG. 5, a diamond electrodeposited layer (210) may be provided on the side surface of the processed part (110), and a zinc plating layer may be provided on the bottom surface of the processed part (110) and the outer surface of the connecting part (120) that are exposed to the outside in addition to the side surface of the processed part (110). The zinc plating layer (220) is applied to prevent oxidation of the surface of the body member (100), and any electroplating layer applied for surface protection of conventional alloy steel can be applied without limitation.

[0044] Hereinafter, a method for manufacturing a cutting tool for processing a horn antenna according to one aspect of the present invention will be described in more detail.

[0046] A method for manufacturing a cutting tool for processing according to one aspect of the present invention (S10) may include the steps of preparing a body member (10) (S100), pre-treating the surface of the body member (10) (S110), sealing a portion of the surface of the body member (10) (S120), forming a diamond electrodeposited layer (210) on the surface of the body member (10) (S130), removing a masking member (S140), performing an intermediate pre-treatment of the body member (110) (S150), sealing an area where the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) is formed on the body member (10) using a masking member (S160), electro-galvanizing the body member (10) (S170), removing a masking member (S180), and a final cleaning step (S190).

[0048] The body member (10) prepared in the step (S100) of preparing the body member (10) corresponds to the body member (10) described above, so the description thereof is replaced by the description described above.

[0049] In the pretreatment step (S110), the body member (10) is immersed in a cleaning solution and then ultrasonic waves are applied for about 5 to 10 minutes, and then immersed in a weak acid for about 1 to 3 minutes to remove oil and oxide film remaining on the surface of the body member (10). Through such ultrasonic cleaning and weak acid etching, the surface of the body member (10) is activated, thereby more effectively improving the plating adhesion during subsequent electroplating. In step (S110), the entire surface of the body member (10) may be ultrasonically cleaned and weak acid etched, but the case may include ultrasonically cleaning and weak acid etching only on the side surface of the processed part (110).

[0050] In the step (S120) of sealing a portion of the surface of the body member (10), the bottom surface of the processing part (110) and the outer surface of the connecting part (120) can be sealed using a masking member. Since the masking member is attached only to the bottom surface of the processing part (110) and the connecting part (120), the diamond electrodeposition layer (210) can be formed only on the side surface of the processing part (110) during the subsequent process of forming the diamond electrodeposition layer (210). The type of masking member and the method of attaching the masking member are not particularly limited, and any type of masking member and method of attaching the masking member that can prevent the masking member from being accidentally detached during the subsequent electroplating process may be applied without limitation.

[0051] In the step (130) of forming a diamond electrodeposited layer (210) on the surface of a body member (10), a diamond electrodeposited layer (210) can be formed on the surface of the body member (10) using a diamond electrodeposited solution.

[0052] The diamond electrodeposition solution may comprise 200–500 g / L of NiSO4, 30–90 g / L of NiCl2, 30–40 g / L of H3BO3, 370–740 g / L of diamond particles, and pure water, and using such a diamond electrodeposition solution, 2–6 A / dm 2 A diamond electrodeposited layer (210) can be formed by performing electroplating for 0.5 to 1 hour at a current density of 2 to 6 A / dm 2 Since electroplating is performed for 0.5 to 1 hour at a current density, diamond particles can be buried at a burial rate of 70 to 80%.

[0053] NiSO4 (nickel sulfate) is a source of nickel components for the diamond electrodeposition layer (210), and the nickel components included in the diamond electrodeposition layer (210) can help ensure that diamond particles are uniformly distributed and firmly fixed in the diamond electrodeposition layer (210). To achieve this purpose, it may be desirable to include NiSO4 in the diamond electrodeposition solution at a content of 200 g / L or more. Meanwhile, if NiSO4 is included in excess in the diamond electrodeposition solution, pits may be formed in the plating film of the diamond electrodeposition layer (210), increasing the possibility of defects, and the plating film of the diamond electrodeposition layer (210) itself may become excessively hardened, leading to an excessive increase in brittleness; therefore, the content of NiSO4 included in the diamond electrodeposition solution may be limited to 500 g / L or less. The preferred NiSO4 content may be 250 to 450 g / L, and the more preferred NiSO4 content may be 300 to 400 g / L.

[0054] NiCl2 (nickel chloride) is a component that supplies some nickel components to the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) and contributes to improving the electrical conductivity of the diamond electrodeposited solution. To improve electrodeposition efficiency during electroplating, it may be desirable to include NiCl2 in the diamond electrodeposited solution at a concentration of 30 g / L or more. Meanwhile, if NiCl2 is excessively included in the diamond electrodeposited solution, the chloride content in the diamond electrodeposited solution increases, which may cause plating cracking and peeling. Therefore, the content of NiCl2 included in the diamond electrodeposited solution may be limited to 90 g / L or less. A preferred NiCl2 content may be 40 to 80 g / L, and a more preferred NiCl2 content may be 50 to 70 g / L.

[0055] H3BO3 (boric acid) is a component that effectively contributes to improving plating adhesion efficiency by suppressing the increase in pH of the electrodeposited surface, thereby preventing the adhesion of foreign substances such as nickel hydroxide. To achieve this effect, it may be desirable to include H3BO3 in the diamond electrodepositing solution at a concentration of 30 g / L or more. On the other hand, if H3BO3 is excessively included in the diamond electrodepositing solution, there is a risk that the pH of the solution will change drastically and adversely affect the uniformity of the crystal structure of the plating film; therefore, the content of H3BO3 included in the diamond electrodepositing solution may be limited to 40 g / L or less. A preferred content of H3BO3 may be 33 to 37 g / L.

[0056] Since diamond particles are additives that not only effectively contribute to improving the surface hardness of the cutting tool (10) for processing the horn antenna but also effectively improve the efficiency of the cutting operation, it may be desirable to include at least 370 g / L of diamond particles in the diamond electrodeposition solution to achieve such effects. Meanwhile, if an excessive amount of diamond particles is added to the diamond electrodeposition solution, the diamond particle electrodeposition efficiency may decrease, or local clumping of diamond particles may occur, resulting in uneven surface roughness and excessive costs. Therefore, the amount of diamond included in the diamond electrodeposition solution may be limited to 740 g / L or less. The preferred amount of diamond particles may be 470 to 640 g / L, and the more preferred amount of diamond particles may be 530 to 580 g / L.

[0057] The diamond particles added to the diamond electrodeposition solution may have different particle size ranges depending on whether they are for a first cutting tool (10a) for initial processing and a second cutting tool (10b) for finishing processing. For the diamond electrodeposition solution for the first cutting tool (10a) for initial processing, diamond particles having an average particle size of 150 to 250 grit may be added, and in this case, the diamond electrodeposition layer (210a) may be formed with a thickness of 0.08 to 0.12 mm. For the diamond electrodeposition solution for the second cutting tool (10b) for finishing processing, diamond particles having an average particle size of 550 to 650 grit may be added, and in this case, the diamond electrodeposition layer (210b) may be formed with a thickness of 0.02 to 0.06 mm. If the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) is excessively thick, it is difficult to expect an improvement in cutting efficiency due to the addition of diamond particles, and if the thickness of the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) is excessively thin, a phenomenon may occur in which diamond particles detach from the diamond electrodeposited layer (210).

[0058] In the step of removing the masking member (S140), the masking member attached to the bottom surface of the processing part (110) and the outer surface of the connecting part (120) can be removed.

[0059] In the intermediate pretreatment step (S160), the body member (110) from which the masking member has been removed is immersed in a cleaning solution, and then ultrasonically applied for about 5 to 10 minutes to clean it, and then the cleaned body member (110) can be dried.

[0060] In the step (S160) of sealing the area where the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) is formed, the side surface of the processed part (120) where the diamond electrodeposited layer (210) is formed can be sealed using a masking member. The material of the masking member used at this time and the method of attaching the masking member may be the same as in step (S120).
