Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a rotary machine capable of reducing temperature rise. Background Technology

[0003] Generally, a rotating machine consists of a roughly cylindrical frame forming the outer shape, a stator fixed to the frame, and a rotor rotating inside the stator. The stator or rotor may each include a core, a coil that generates magnetic flux, and an insulator. By being coupled to a rotating shaft, the rotor can transmit torque in the case of an electric motor and generate voltage in the case of a generator through the rotating shaft.

[0004] During operation, heat is generated in such rotating machines due to coil resistance, eddy currents, iron hysteresis, or friction, and if the generated heat is not sufficiently dissipated, the performance and output of the rotating machine are degraded due to thermal load.

[0005] To solve this problem, the frame is equipped with a plurality of heat dissipation fins extending along the axial direction of the frame on its outer surface. Additionally, an external fan coupled to a rotating shaft and a fan cover surrounding the fan are provided on one side of the frame. As a result, the fan rotates to draw in air from the outside and discharges it toward the discharge port of the fan cover; as the discharged air passes through the heat dissipation fins, heat transfer occurs from their surfaces, thereby cooling the rotating machine.

[0006] However, since heated air surrounding the rotating machine is drawn in and expelled for cooling, the cooling efficiency of the rotating machine decreases. Consequently, it is required to use a larger fan to secure sufficient cooling air, which can lead to vibration and noise in the rotating machine.

[0007] (Patent Document 1) KR 2067388 B1 The problem to be solved

[0009] Accordingly, the present invention aims to provide a rotary machine in which the temperature rise can be reduced, for example, by attaching a cooling element to a fan cover. means of solving the problem

[0011] A rotating machine according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a frame formed in a tubular shape and rotatably supporting a rotating shaft; a fan mounted on the rotating shaft on one side outside of the frame; a fan cover covering the fan and coupled to the frame; and a cooling element installed on the fan cover, wherein the frame comprises a plurality of heat dissipation fins mounted on its outer surface to dissipate internal heat, and air around the frame is drawn into the fan cover by the rotation of the fan, and the drawn air is cooled as it passes through the cooling element and then discharged toward the heat dissipation fins, thereby receiving heat from the heat dissipation fins in the space between adjacent heat dissipation fins.

[0012] The above fan cover includes an inlet that allows external air to flow into the interior of the fan cover, and a side wall extending from the inlet, and the cooling element may be attached to the inner surface of the side wall.

[0013] The above cooling elements may be provided in multiple numbers and arranged at predetermined intervals along the circumferential direction of the fan cover.

[0014] The above cooling element may include a Peltier element utilizing the Peltier effect, in which heat absorption occurs due to an electric current.

[0015] The above Peltier element can be enclosed and sealed by an elastomer to form a flexible cooling element.

[0016] The heat dissipation fins may protrude radially outward from the outer surface of the frame and extend along the axial direction of the frame.

[0017] delete

[0018] The above-described rotating device may further include a plurality of cooling covers coupled to the heat dissipation fins and configured to surround the frame.

[0019] The cooling cover is formed as a plate member curved in the circumferential direction of the frame, and at least one clip capable of being fitted to the heat dissipation fin may be provided on the concave inner surface of the cooling cover.

[0020] Air around the frame is drawn into the fan cover by the rotation of the fan, and the drawn-in air is cooled as it passes through the cooling element and then discharged toward the heat dissipation fins, so that heat can be transferred from the heat dissipation fins in the duct partitioned by the adjacent heat dissipation fins and the cooling cover. Effects of the invention

[0022] According to an embodiment of the present invention, by attaching a cooling element to a fan cover, cold air is allowed to flow through the frame, thereby improving the cooling efficiency of the rotating machine and reducing the temperature rise of the rotating machine. Brief explanation of the drawing

[0024] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a rotary machine according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the rotor shown in Figure 1. Figure 3 is a perspective view of the fan cover shown in Figure 1. FIG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating a rotary machine according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view of the rotor shown in Figure 4. Figure 6 is a perspective view of the cooling cover shown in Figure 4. Specific details for implementing the invention

[0025] The present invention is described in detail below with reference to exemplary drawings. It should be noted that in assigning reference numerals to the components of each drawing, the same components are given the same reference numeral whenever possible, even if they are shown in different drawings. Furthermore, in describing the present invention, if it is determined that a detailed description of related known components or functions could obscure the essence of the invention, such detailed description is omitted.

[0026] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a rotary device according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the rotary device illustrated in FIG. 1.

[0027] As illustrated in these drawings, a rotor according to the first embodiment of the present invention may include a frame (10), a fan (20), a fan cover (30), and a cooling element (40).

[0028] The frame (10) is a roughly cylindrical member and can provide a receiving space inside. This frame can be made of a metal such as cast iron.

[0029] The frame (10) can accommodate and support, for example, a rotation axis (11), a rotor (1) coupled to the rotation axis and rotating, and a stator (2) positioned opposite the rotor and fixed to the inner surface of the frame within the receiving space.

[0030] The rotation axis (11) can be rotatably supported by support members (12), such as bearings, on both sides of the frame (10). The rotor (1) and the stator (2) are separated from each other by a predetermined gap and can have electromagnetic interaction with each other.

[0031] Here, components such as a rotating shaft (11), rotor (1), and stator (2) that are housed or supported within the frame (10) are already widely known in rotating machines that can be used, for example, as electric motors or generators, so a more detailed description of their configuration and operation is omitted.

[0032] The frame (10) may include a plurality of heat dissipation fins (13) mounted on the outer surface to dissipate heat from inside the frame. Each heat dissipation fin is formed by protruding and extending radially outward from the outer surface of the frame.

[0033] These heat dissipation fins (13) can be formed integrally with the frame (10) by a method such as casting and installed on the frame. However, the method of installing the heat dissipation fins is not necessarily limited to this, and it is obvious that they can be installed by any other method.

[0034] In addition, since a plurality of heat dissipation fins (13) are integrally molded with the frame (10), the heat dissipation fins can be made of the same metal as the frame, such as cast iron. Alternatively, when installing heat dissipation fins on the frame, materials with excellent thermal conductivity, such as copper or aluminum, may be used in addition to cast iron.

[0035] Each heat dissipation fin (13) may be formed in a roughly plate shape with a predetermined thickness and a roughly rectangular cross-sectional shape. However, the shape of the heat dissipation fin is not necessarily limited to this. Each heat dissipation fin may extend along the axial direction of the frame (10).

[0036] A plurality of heat dissipation fins (13) can be arranged at a predetermined interval in the circumferential direction of the frame (10). By doing so, a space (14) is formed between adjacent heat dissipation fins, and a fluid, i.e., air or outside air that is forcibly introduced, flows through this space and can receive heat from the surrounding heat dissipation fins.

[0037] The fan (20) is fixedly mounted on the end of a rotating shaft (11) that protrudes from one side of the frame (10) to the outside of the frame, so that it can rotate together with the rotor (1) as well as the rotating shaft. Due to the rotation of the fan, air around the frame and the rotor can be drawn into the fan cover (30), and the drawn-in air can be discharged from the fan cover toward the heat dissipation fins and forcibly supplied.

[0038] Figure 3 is a perspective view of the fan cover shown in Figure 1.

[0039] A fan cover (30) can be installed on a frame (10) to cover at least partially the fan (20). This fan cover protects the fan and can also guide external air introduced by the rotation of the fan to receive heat as it flows through the space (14) between the heat dissipation fins (13) mounted on the frame.

[0040] To this end, the fan cover (30) may have an inlet (31) formed therein to allow external air to flow into the interior of the fan cover by the rotation of the fan (20). Additionally, the fan cover may include a side wall (32) extending from the inlet. An open end of the side wall may form an outlet (33) of the fan cover.

[0041] Thus, external air that has entered the fan cover (30) through the inlet (31) by the rotation of the fan (20) can be discharged along the side wall (32) toward the heat dissipation fins (13) mounted on the frame (10). Subsequently, heat generated inside the frame, that is, inside the rotor, and transferred to the heat dissipation fins is transferred to the air flowing through the space (14) between adjacent heat dissipation fins, thereby cooling the frame and the rotor.

[0042] The rotating machine according to the first embodiment of the present invention may be characterized by including a cooling element (40) installed on a fan cover (30).

[0043] Specifically, at least one cooling element (40) can be attached to the inner surface of the side wall (32) of the fan cover (30), for example, with an adhesive or double-sided tape. In FIG. 3, a plurality of cooling elements can be seen arranged at predetermined intervals along the circumferential direction of the fan cover, but the number and arrangement of cooling elements are not necessarily limited thereto.

[0044] As a cooling element (40), a Peltier element, which is a device utilizing the Peltier effect in which heat is absorbed (or generated) by an electric current, may be employed. Electricity may be applied to the Peltier element through a wire (not shown) from an external power source.

[0045] Here, the Peltier effect refers to the phenomenon in which, when two types of metal ends are connected and an electric current is passed through them, one end absorbs heat and the other end generates heat depending on the direction of the current. Instead of the two types of metals, semiconductors such as bismuth (Bi) and tellurium (Te), which have different electrical conductivity methods, can be used to obtain a Peltier element that performs heat absorption and heat generation.

[0046] Since the Peltier element can switch between heat absorption and heat generation depending on the direction of the current and the amount of heat absorption or heat generation can be controlled depending on the amount of current, it is easy to construct a cooling element (40) with a small capacity.

[0047] By providing multiple Peltier elements utilizing this principle and arranging them in a band-like manner on the inner surface of the side wall (32) of the fan cover (30), and by exposing the heat-absorbing portion of the Peltier elements toward the inside of the fan cover, the air that is discharged from the inside of the fan cover through the Peltier elements toward the heat dissipation fins (13) of the frame (10) can be cooled.

[0048] The Peltier element can be enclosed and sealed by an elastomer such as rubber or silicone, thereby forming a flexible and soft cooling element (40). A cooling element made flexible in this way has the advantage of being easily attached to the inner surface of the curved side wall (32) of the fan cover (30).

[0049] Hereinafter, the cooling of a rotating machine according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be briefly described with reference to FIG. 2.

[0050] In Figure 2, the arrows represent the flow of air. The solid arrows indicate relatively high-temperature air, and the dotted arrows indicate relatively low-temperature cold air.

[0051] The fan (20) can rotate together with the rotor (1) and the rotation axis (11). Due to this rotation of the fan, air around the frame (10) and the rotor can be drawn into the fan cover through the inlet (31) of the fan cover (30).

[0052] At this time, the air around the frame (10) and the rotor can be maintained at least at room temperature, or can be heated by heat generated and radiated from the rotor.

[0053] External air introduced into the fan cover (30) flows along the side wall (32) of the fan cover through the fan (20), and after being cooled while passing through the Peltier element, which is a cooling element (40), it can be discharged from the discharge port (33) of the fan cover toward the heat dissipation fin (13) of the frame (10).

[0054] In this way, in the rotating machine according to the first embodiment of the present invention, the air discharged from the fan cover (30) becomes cold air that is cooled to a lower temperature than when it enters as it passes through the cold heat absorption part of the Peltier element, which is the cooling element (40), so that the heat transfer and cooling performance of the heat dissipation fins (13) through which the cold air passes can be further improved.

[0055] Accordingly, the cooling efficiency of the frame (10) and the rotor is improved, and the effect of preventing the temperature rise of the rotor or at least effectively reducing it is obtained.

[0056] FIG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating a rotary device according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the rotary device illustrated in FIG. 4.

[0057] As illustrated in these drawings, a rotor according to a second embodiment of the present invention may include a frame (10), a fan (20), a fan cover (30), and a cooling element (40).

[0058] Additionally, the rotor according to the second embodiment of the present invention may further include a plurality of cooling covers (50) that are coupled to the heat dissipation fins (13) of the frame (10) and surround the frame.

[0059] The second embodiment of the present invention shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 differs only in that a cooling cover (50) is added, and the remaining components are identical to the components of the first embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. Accordingly, in describing the rotary machine according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the same reference numerals are assigned to components identical to the rotary machine according to the first embodiment described above, and the detailed description of their configuration and function is omitted.

[0060] Figure 6 is a perspective view of the cooling cover shown in Figure 4.

[0061] The cooling cover (50) may be formed as a curved plate member having an arc-shaped cross-section. Specifically, the cooling cover may be bent and curved in a circumferential direction to correspond to the outer surface of the frame (10), and may have a length extended in the axial direction of the frame to sufficiently cover the heat dissipation fins (13).

[0062] Each cooling cover (50) can be fitted and coupled to one of the plurality of heat dissipation fins (13). To this end, at least one clip (51) that can be fitted and coupled to the heat dissipation fin may be provided on the concave inner surface of the cooling cover. A cooling cover equipped with such a clip has the advantage of being easily coupled to the heat dissipation fin and being installable on an existing rotating machine.

[0063] The cooling cover (50) and the clip (51) may be made of a material that is rigid and elastic, such as metal or plastic, but are not necessarily limited thereto.

[0064] A clip (51) of the cooling cover (50) is attached to one of the multiple heat dissipation fins (13) so that adjacent heat dissipation fins can also be covered, and accordingly, the space (14) between adjacent heat dissipation fins can be shielded from the outside.

[0065] As a single cooling cover (50) covers a plurality of heat dissipation fins (13) together, the radially outer opening in the space (14) between adjacent heat dissipation fins can be closed. As a result, the outer surface of the frame (10), an adjacent pair of heat dissipation fins (13), and a duct (54) surrounded by the cooling cover (50) can be partitioned.

[0066] One side of the duct (54) formed in this way is connected to the discharge port (33) of the fan cover (30), so that cold air can be introduced from the discharge port of the fan cover. The air passes through the duct without scattering radially along the frame (10) by the cooling cover (50) and can then be discharged from the opening on the other side of the duct.

[0067] A plurality of cooling covers (50) are arranged continuously along the circumferential direction of the frame (10) to at least partially surround the frame in the circumferential direction, and at the same time, completely cover the heat dissipation fins (13) in the axial direction of the frame.

[0068] Hereinafter, the cooling of a rotating machine according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be briefly described with reference to FIG. 5.

[0069] In Figure 5, the arrows represent the airflow. The solid arrows indicate relatively high-temperature air, and the dotted arrows indicate relatively low-temperature cold air.

[0070] The fan (20) can rotate together with the rotor (1) and the rotation axis (11). Due to this rotation of the fan, air around the frame (10) and the rotor can be drawn into the fan cover through the inlet (31) of the fan cover (30).

[0071] At this time, the air around the frame (10) and the rotor can be maintained at least at room temperature, or can be heated by heat generated and radiated from the rotor.

[0072] External air introduced into the fan cover (30) flows along the side wall (32) of the fan cover through the fan (20), and after being cooled while passing through the Peltier element, which is a cooling element (40), it can be discharged from the discharge port (33) of the fan cover toward the heat dissipation fin (13) of the frame (10).

[0073] In this way, in the rotating machine according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the air discharged from the fan cover (30) becomes cold air that is cooled to a lower temperature than when it enters as it passes through the cold heat absorption part of the Peltier element, which is the cooling element (40), so that the heat transfer and cooling performance of the heat dissipation fins (13) through which the cold air passes can be further improved.

[0074] Moreover, when cold air discharged from the fan cover (30) flows through the duct (54) partitioned by the adjacent heat dissipation fins (13) and the cooling cover (50), the cooling cover prevents the air from scattering radially from the frame (10), thereby ensuring the straightness of the air flow so that the cold air can reach the opposite side of the fan (20) from the frame (10) in a sufficient amount for cooling.

[0075] Accordingly, the cooling efficiency of the frame (10) and the rotor is further improved, and the effect of preventing the temperature rise of the rotor or at least effectively reducing it is obtained.

[0076] The above description is merely an illustrative explanation of the technical concept of the present invention, and those skilled in the art to which the present invention pertains will be able to make various modifications and variations within the scope of the essential characteristics of the present invention.

[0077] Accordingly, the embodiments disclosed in this invention are intended to explain, not limit, the technical concept of the invention, and the scope of the technical concept of the invention is not limited by these embodiments. The scope of protection of this invention shall be interpreted by the claims below, and all technical concepts within an equivalent scope shall be interpreted as being included within the scope of rights of this invention.
