Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to an antibacterial charcoal natural dye composition and a dyeing method using the same. Background Technology

[0003] Generally, natural dyeing refers to the process of coloring fabrics using plant-based, animal-based, or mineral dyes. Compared to chemical dyes, natural dyeing is characterized by lower color saturation, eco-friendliness, and many features that are friendly to the human body.

[0004] Compared to dyeing using synthetic dyes, natural dyeing offers natural colors and superior aesthetics. It also possesses many functionalities not found in synthetic dyes, such as antibacterial, deodorizing, and anti-allergic properties, and has the advantage of being environmentally friendly, without causing issues like wastewater or odors associated with the use of synthetic dyes. However, natural dyeing generally has the problem of being prone to staining or fading because it does not have high fastness to sunlight, washing, sweat, or dry cleaning.

[0005] Examples of materials used as natural dyes include volcanic rock scoria (Korean Patent No. 548019), Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense (Korean Patent No. 773969), beer sludge (Korean Patent No. 404912), Paulownia bark (Korean Patent No. 502566), grape skins (Korean Patent No. 512384), and wild grape skins (Korean Patent No. 512383).

[0006] The present invention uses bamboo charcoal as a natural dye and cypress wood as an additive ( Chamaecyparis obtusa ) leaves and slender poles( Dontostemon dentatus A natural charcoal dye composition with excellent fastness as well as antibacterial properties using leaves and stems is disclosed, along with a dyeing method using the same. The problem to be solved

[0008] The objective of the present invention is to provide an antibacterial charcoal natural dye composition and a natural dyeing method using the same.

[0009] Other objects or specific objectives of the present invention will be presented below. means of solving the problem

[0011] The present invention is completed by preparing a natural bamboo charcoal dye composition by adding an additive solution obtained by mixing and grinding a mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves with water to a natural bamboo charcoal dye solution obtained by mixing and grinding bamboo charcoal powder with water, as confirmed in the examples below, and by confirming that when cotton fabric is dyed with the composition, it exhibits excellent lightfastness, sweatfastness, and washfastness, as well as very high antibacterial properties.

[0012] The present invention is provided based on these experimental results, and in one aspect, the present invention relates to a natural dye composition comprising the charcoal natural dye solution of (I) below and the antibacterial dye additive solution of (II) below.

[0013] (I) A natural bamboo charcoal dye solution obtained by mixing water with bamboo charcoal powder and grinding the mixture; and

[0014] (II) An antibacterial dye additive solution obtained by mixing water with a mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves, grinding the mixture, and then filtering the resulting mixture.

[0015] In the preparation of (I) and (II) above, a standing step (aging step) may be included after mixing with water or after grinding. The standing step may be performed by leaving the bamboo charcoal powder or mixture (a mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves) at room temperature. This standing step is intended to increase the degree of dispersion or dissolution of the bamboo charcoal powder or the components contained therein in water to increase the degree of coloration of the fibers, and to increase antibacterial activity by decomposing the cellulose in the mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves through natural fermentation. This standing step may be performed for about 15 days to 3 months for the bamboo charcoal powder, and for about 3 days to 15 days for the mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves.

[0016] In the manufacturing of (I) above, if the above-mentioned resting step is included, it is preferable to include a secondary grinding step after the resting step. The grinding step is doubled to grind the bamboo charcoal uniformly and finely to be suitable for dyeing. In addition, in the manufacturing of (II) above, it may also be preferable to include a secondary grinding step after the resting step, which is to promote the leaching of the antibacterial component into the solution.

[0017] In the manufacturing of (I) above, regardless of whether a secondary grinding step is included or not, it is preferable that the grinding be performed such that the average particle size of the ground charcoal powder particles is 100 μm or less, and it is also preferable that the state of the ground material be in a colloidal state. By doing so, the degree of color and fastness to the fiber can be increased.

[0018] In the manufacture of (II) above, it is preferable to filter the ground material after the grinding step and take only the filtrate. At this time, it is preferable to use a filtration means (such as a fiber bag) with a pore diameter of 0.5 mm or less for filtration. The reason for taking only the filtrate is to make the composition of the dye uniform to increase the degree of coloring and fastness, and to increase the concentration of the antibacterial substance eluted into the solution, thereby increasing the antibacterial properties.

[0019] In the manufacture of (I) above, after the grinding step, it is preferable to add salt (NaCl) in a range of 0.001 to 3 parts by weight relative to the weight of the ground material and mix it uniformly. This is based on the experience of the inventors, and when salt is added, the degree of color and fastness are improved.

[0020] In the natural dye composition of the present invention, it is preferable that the antibacterial additive composition be added in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by weight, preferably 3 to 7 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the charcoal natural dye solution.

[0021] The natural dye composition of the present invention may be formulated in the form of powder, granules, particles, or solution, and may include dyeing aids such as solvents, dispersants, pH adjusters, wetting agents, penetrating agents, leveling agents, leveling agents, dyeing agents, accelerating agents, fixing agents, colorants, fastness enhancers, and mordants as needed.

[0022] The above various dyeing aids may be those available on the market or those known in the industry, and their mixing amounts may be added in any amount that allows their functions to be exhibited, as long as it does not impede the colorfastness and atopic dermatitis improvement activity of the natural dye composition of the present invention.

[0023] Fibers that can be dyed with the natural dye composition of the present invention include natural fibers such as cotton, linen, wool, and silk, and synthetic fibers such as acetate, triacetate, nylon, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyester, polyacrylic, polyamide, polyurethane, and polyacrylonitrile, as well as fibers blended therewith. In this case, the substrate to be dyed may be in the form of the fiber itself (in the form of a thread) or a fabric (including blended fabrics).

[0024] In another aspect, the present invention relates to a dyeing method comprising the step of contacting a fiber with the natural dye composition described above.

[0025] In the method of dyeing natural fibers or synthetic fibers with the natural dye composition of the present invention, any method known in the art may be applied.

[0026] Dyeing methods are classified into immersion dyeing and printing methods depending on whether the dyed part is the whole or part of the fiber, and into batch dyeing (jig dyeing, winch dyeing, jet dyeing, beam dyeing) and continuous dyeing (pad-steam dyeing, thermosol dyeing) depending on the continuity of the dyeing process, and into direct dyeing, mordant dyeing, reduction dyeing, and dispersion dyeing methods depending on the water solubility of the dye or the degree of affinity of the dye with the fiber.

[0027] When dyeing fibers with the natural dye composition of the present invention, all of the above methods may be applied. However, regarding the dyeing method based on whether the dye is water-soluble or the degree of affinity of the dye with the fiber, the direct dyeing method would be preferred considering that the natural dye composition of the present invention is water-soluble overall.

[0028] In a method for dyeing fibers using the natural dye composition of the present invention, a scouring step to remove impurities from the fiber or a bleaching step to remove unnecessary pigments may be included as a pretreatment process as necessary. Additionally, as a posttreatment process, a color-developing agent treatment step, a fastness-enhancing agent treatment step, a post-mordant treatment step, etc., may be included as necessary.

[0029] Fibers dyed with the natural dye composition of the present invention can be manufactured and used as clothing products such as shirts, underwear, socks, panties, stockings, and diapers; bedding products such as quilts, blankets, and pillows; medical products such as patches and bandages; and furniture products such as sofas and chair coverings. Effects of the invention

[0031] As described above, the present invention provides an antibacterial charcoal natural dye composition and a dyeing method using the same. The antibacterial natural dye composition of the present invention has high antibacterial properties and can be usefully used in the production of natural dyed clothing, etc., which also has excellent colorfastness. Specific details for implementing the invention

[0033] The present invention will be described below with reference to examples. However, the scope of the present invention is not limited to these examples.

[0035] <Example 1> Preparation of natural dye using bamboo charcoal

[0036] A 1:1 (volume ratio) mixture of bamboo charcoal powder from Damyang and water was left in an earthenware jar for about 3 months for the first stage, then ground, and the ground mixture was left for about 1 month for the second stage, then ground again. At this time, the particle size of the bamboo charcoal powder was adjusted so that the average particle size was 100 μm or less so that it could be evenly dispersed and adhered to the fibers. 3 parts by weight of salt (NaCl) (based on 100 parts by weight of the mixture) was added to the second-ground mixture, heated at 100°C for about 20 minutes, and then cooled to prepare a bamboo charcoal dye solution.

[0037] <Example 2> Preparation of an antibacterial dye additive using Hinoki cypress leaves

[0038] Water weighing 15 times the weight of the crushed cypress leaves was added and ground once. The resulting mixture (i.e., a mixture of crushed cypress leaves and water) was left to mature at room temperature for about 7 days, after which it was ground a second time. At this stage, the grinding proceeded until it reached a gel state. The mixture obtained from this second grinding was filtered through a fine mesh or fiber bag with a diameter of 0.5 mm to remove residue, thereby preparing an antibacterial dye additive solution.

[0039] <Example 3> Preparation of an antimicrobial dye additive using leaves and stems of Styrax japonica

[0040] Water was added to the crushed leaves and stems of the slender bamboo plant to crush them once, and the resulting mixture (i.e., a mixture of crushed leaves and stems and water) was left to mature at room temperature for about 7 days, after which it was crushed a second time. At this time, the crushing process was carried out until it reached a gel state. The mixture obtained from this second crushing was filtered through a fine mesh or fiber bag with a diameter of 0.5 mm to remove residue and prepare an antibacterial dye additive solution.

[0041] <Example 4> Preparation of an antibacterial dye additive using Hinoki cypress leaves and Styrax japonica leaves and stems

[0042] A mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed bamboo leaves and stems (approximately a 1:1 weight ratio) was ground once by adding 15 times the weight of water, and the resulting mixture (i.e., a mixture of the mixture of crushed materials and water) was left to mature at room temperature for about 7 days, after which it was ground a second time. At this time, the grinding proceeded until it reached a gel state. The mixture obtained from this second grinding was filtered through a 0.5 mm (diameter) fine mesh or fiber bag to remove residue, thereby preparing an antibacterial dye additive solution.

[0043] <Example 5> Antimicrobial test of antimicrobial dye additive composition

[0044] The antimicrobial activity of the antimicrobial dye additive compositions prepared in Examples 2 to 4 above was measured according to the paper disc diffusion method. The target microorganism for antimicrobial activity was Staphylococcus aureus ( Staphylococcus aureus ) and Staphylococcus epidermidis ( Staphylococcus epidermidis ) was used, and the culture medium used was TSA (Tryptic Soybean Agar).

[0045] One platinum loop of each strain was taken and inoculated into 10 mL of broth, and cultured at 37°C for 18 hours. 0.1 mL of the culture solution was then poured into a TSA medium with a thickness of 4–5 mm and spread uniformly. The sample from the above example was absorbed into a sterile filter paper disc at a concentration of 2.0 mg / disc, the solvent was evaporated, and the disc was placed on the surface of a plate and cultured at 37°C for 24 hours. After culture, the clear zone around the disc was compared. As a control, a disc that had absorbed and evaporated the same volume of water was also used.

[0046] The results are shown in Table 1 below.

[0048] The results of Table 1 above show that the solution of the mixture of crushed cypress leaves and crushed slender bamboo leaves and stems of Example 4 exhibits high antibacterial activity.

[0049] <Example 6> Antibacterial and Colorfastness Tests of Naturally Dyed Cotton Fabrics

[0050] 1. Fastness test

[0051] An antibacterial bamboo charcoal natural dye composition was prepared by adding 5 parts by weight (based on 100 parts by weight of the bamboo charcoal natural dye solution) of the antibacterial dye additive solution of Example 4, which was found to have the highest antibacterial activity, to the bamboo charcoal natural dye solution obtained in Example 1 above.

[0052] The cotton fabric to be dyed was immersed in the antibacterial natural dye composition heated to 60°C or higher, and then the cotton fabric was dyed with the bamboo charcoal natural dye by continuing to heat it to maintain 90°C for a dyeing time of 50 minutes. The dyed cotton fabric was mordanted by immersing it in 6 L of water diluted with 2 g of Sn mordant (Na2SnO3·3H2O) for about 30 minutes, then washed with water, dehydrated, and dried in the shade (Preparation Example).

[0053] The fabric obtained in this way was cut into sample sizes of 24 mm × 34 mm, and light fastness, sweat fastness, and wash fastness were measured.

[0054] The lightfastness test was evaluated according to the AATCC 16E-1998 method, the sweat fastness according to the KS K ISO 105 E04:2005 method, and the wash fastness according to KS K ISO 105 C06:2006.

[0055] The fabric of the comparative example was used after being dyed and post-mordanted in the same manner as above using the charcoal natural dye solution obtained in Example 1 (which did not have the antibacterial dye additive solution of Example 4 added).

[0056] The results are shown in Table 2 below.

[0058] 2. Antimicrobial test

[0059] The antibacterial activity test was measured by the bacterial reduction rate according to the flask culture method (Shake flask test), and the samples used were the naturally dyed cotton fabrics prepared above (Preparation Example and Comparative Example), and the inoculum was Staphylococcus aureus ( Staphylococcus aureus ) and Staphylococcus epidermidis ( Staphylococcus epidermidis ) was used.

[0060] The results are shown in Table 3 below.

[0061] antibacterial division Antibacterial properties (%) Preparation Example 99.5% Comparative example 85.5%

[0062] The results of Table 3 above show that when the antibacterial dye additive solution of Example 4 is added and dyed, the antibacterial activity is significantly increased.
