Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a drying unit applied to a drying system for continuously drying sludge generated after the treatment of sewage or wastewater, and to a modular drying unit for a continuous sludge drying system that utilizes a modular unit to allow the process to be automated and enables different air temperatures and humidity levels for each individual unit. Background Technology
[0003] Sewage sludge generated through sewage treatment as well as industrial sludge generated in industry are known to have a high content of odor-causing organic matter and are composed of highly volatile substances, so if the drying temperature is increased during drying treatment, severe odor generation occurs, which is known to be a major obstacle to drying the sludge and utilizing it as new and renewable energy.
[0004] To address this, auxiliary facilities are being installed, such as burning the final generated dry air in an incinerator or combustion furnace to remove oil components, or feeding it into biofilters and various odor control facilities to eliminate odors; as a result, installation costs have increased, and significant difficulties have been encountered in operating the facilities.
[0005] Conventional sludge drying is mostly based on a heat energy input basis drying process, which calculates the amount of heat to be input by considering the temperature rise and latent heat of vaporization and the thermal efficiency. Since this requires the input of high-temperature heat, it is known to be a very limited technology for solving problems such as odor generation or vaporization of volatile organic matter.
[0006] In addition, when drying is performed by introducing high temperatures, the water vapor generated during the drying process is recovered as condensed water. Since high-temperature water vapor involves the evaporation of organic matter, the condensed water contains wastewater with a very high pollution load (high concentrations of COD, BOD, and TN), and a high-pollution concentration wastewater treatment process is essential to treat this.
[0007] Therefore, high-temperature drying processes require a large site area for the construction of wastewater treatment plants as well as the installation of drying facilities. Consequently, considering the additional costs such as the facility investment and operating costs of drying equipment, as well as the construction and operating costs of wastewater treatment plants, it can be said that this causes many problems regarding economic feasibility.
[0008] As a technology to resolve these problems, an air-circulating low-temperature hot air sludge drying treatment facility and treatment method (Korean Registered Patent Publication No. 10-1338369, Patent Document 1) has been disclosed.
[0009] The above patent document 1 describes a moisture control process in which dried crushed pellets are mixed with sludge as a moisture control agent to rapidly reduce the amount of moisture contained in the sludge, thereby lowering the moisture activity and inhibiting enzymatic decomposition by microorganisms, and by using low-temperature hot air when drying the sludge, thereby suppressing the odor generated during high-temperature drying and preventing the evaporation of organic matter to drastically reduce the pollution load of the condensate.
[0010] The dryer used in Patent Document 1 applies a mixed gravity downward discharge dryer, but there is a problem in that it is difficult to apply a continuous process when using such a dryer.
[0011] If sludge is continuously fed and dried, the air temperature and humidity required for the initially introduced sludge and the sludge after drying is significantly advanced are different, and the aforementioned Patent Document 1 has limitations in being tailored for such applications. [0013] KR 10-1338369 (2013.12.02) The problem to be solved
[0014] The modular drying unit for a sludge continuous drying system of the present invention is intended to resolve the problems arising from the aforementioned conventional technology. [0029] The sludge continuous drying system to which the modular drying unit of the present invention is applied is largely composed of a sludge storage tank (1), a pellet cooling storage tank (2), a mixer (3), a molding machine (4), a crusher (5), a transfer conveyor (6), a circulation moving device (10), a drying unit (20), a heat supply device (30), a hot air induction device (40), a discharge device (50), and a second transfer conveyor (60).
[0031] The sludge storage tank (1) stores sludge that flows in from the outside and into the inside, and has a discharge port at the bottom for discharging the sludge to the outside.
[0032] The pellet cooling storage tank (2) receives and stores dried crushed pellets from one side as a moisture regulator, and has an outlet at the bottom.
[0033] The use of dried crushed pellets as a moisture regulator is carried out in a continuous circulation process as described in Patent Document 1.
[0034] The mixer (3) is connected to the sludge storage tank (1) to supply sludge into it, and is connected to the pellet cooling storage tank (2) to introduce dried crushed pellets as a moisture regulator, thereby mixing the sludge and the dried crushed pellets to regulate the moisture of the sludge introduced.
[0035] At this time, a metering pump and the like may be provided to control the content of sludge and dried crushed pellets.
[0036] The molding machine (4) is configured to press or extrude the mixed raw materials mixed in the mixer (3).
[0037] The drawing illustrates a roll compression forming machine in which two rolls equipped with protrusions and indentations are placed facing each other for forming; however, this is merely an illustration for illustrative purposes, and various known forming machines may be applied.
[0038] The crusher (5) cuts the compressed or extruded mixed raw material to facilitate filling and processing into the drying unit (20).
[0039] The first conveyor (6) conveys the mixed raw material crushed in the crusher (5) to one side space of the upper part of the circulation moving device (10).
[0040] As shown in FIG. 1, the circulation moving device (10) is configured such that four conveyors (11) are arranged in the front-rear, left-right, and right directions on a plane to form a closed-loop shape, thereby continuously circulating the drying unit (20) in an endless track manner.
[0041] At this time, one side of the conveyor (11) is positioned below the discharge side of the first conveyor (6) so that the mixed raw material dropped from the conveyor (6) can be filled into the drying unit (20) located on the conveyor (11).
[0042] At the point where the above conveyors (11) meet each other, the conveyors and rollers are arranged in an alternating manner so as to intersect each other, and either the conveyor or the roller is connected to an actuator to move up and down so as to enable continuous circulation.
[0043] The heat supply device (30) may be configured as a hot air blower that supplies hot air into the storage space through the upper part of the drying unit (20) by having individual branch pipes (32) arranged at regular intervals on the upper part of the conveyor (11) of the circulating moving device (10) at intervals equal to the spacing of each drying unit (20), or may be configured as a dryer that dries the air above the drying unit (20), a heater that heats, etc.
[0044] In the drawing, the heat supply device (30) is installed along the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) and is connected at its upper end to a hot air supply pipe (31) that supplies hot air from the outside, and is configured with individual branch pipes (32) that extend downward at each position corresponding to the upper end of each hot air induction device (40) and have a control valve (32a) installed on the pipe.
[0045] At this time, the control valve (32a) may be configured as an electronic valve capable of controlling the opening and closing amount, and may be configured to control the amount of hot air supplied into each drying unit (20) by controlling the opening and closing amount through the control of a control device.
[0046] That is, a large amount of hot air is supplied to the side close to the conveyor (6), and conversely, a small amount of hot air is supplied to the point where the circulation ends, so that the required thermal energy can be managed efficiently.
[0047] At this time, an auxiliary unit coupling member (33) is installed at the lower part of the individual branch pipe (32), and a branch pipe coupling member (25) that is optionally connected to the auxiliary unit coupling member (33) may be installed at the upper part of the drying unit (20).
[0048] In this case, in addition to inducing the intake of hot air, the loss of hot air supply can also be minimized to reduce the loss of thermal energy.
[0049] At this time, the configuration of the auxiliary unit coupling member (33) and the branch pipe coupling member (25) may be applied using a magnetic coupling method using an electromagnet, such as the fan coupling member (23) and the unit coupling member (43) below, or a method using a suction plate utilizing a vacuum pump.
[0050] The hot air induction device (40) is installed at the bottom of the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) and is positioned corresponding to the bottom of the heat supply device (30) to induce a hot air flow by sucking in hot air or drying air directed into the storage space (21) of the drying unit (20).
[0051] More specifically, the hot air induction device (40) may be composed of a suction fan (41) positioned at a location corresponding to the lower part of each heat supply device (30) below the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) to induce a hot air flow by sucking in hot air directed into the storage space (21) of the drying unit (20), a corrugated pipe (42) connected to the upper side of the suction fan (41), and a unit coupling member (43) installed on the upper part of the corrugated pipe (42) and selectively coupled with the fan coupling member (23) below.
[0052] Here, if the fan connecting member (23) is of the type of magnet, the unit connecting member (43) may be made of iron, which is a magnetically reactive metal that is attached by magnetism, and if the fan connecting member (23) is a suction fan, it may be made of a flat and smooth plate capable of suction.
[0053] The method of combining the fan connecting member (23) and the unit connecting member (43) is not limited to the method described above, and various known methods that allow for controllable attachment and detachment may be applied.
[0054] The operation method of this system is explained through Fig. 9 as follows.
[0055] First, as an initial treatment step, sludge is stored in a sludge storage tank as the main raw material, and dried crushed pellets are stored in a pellet cooling storage tank (2) as a moisture control agent.
[0056] Next, as a mixing step, sludge and dried crushed pellets are introduced into the mixer (3) and mixed so that the moisture content of the mixed raw materials is 40 to 60%.
[0057] Then, the mixed raw materials are compressed and molded in a molding machine, and the compressed and molded mixed raw materials are crushed in a crusher (5).
[0058] Then, as a filling step, the crushed mixed raw material is transported to the first conveyor (6), and then the mixed raw material is filled into a drying unit (20) that circulates along the circulation moving device (10).
[0059] Next, the drying unit (20) is moved in a circulating manner along the above-mentioned circulation moving device (10), while hot air is supplied into the drying unit (20) through each individual branch pipe (32) arranged at regular intervals, and the hot air is guided downward through the hot air induction device (40) arranged at the bottom to dry the filled mixed raw material to a moisture content of 0 to 10%.
[0060] Then, the mixed raw material inside the drying unit (30), which has completed internal drying, is discharged through the discharge device (50), and the discharged raw material is transferred to the pellet cooling storage tank (2).
[0062] Hereinafter, the modular drying unit (20) of the present invention applied to the above drying system will be described in detail through the attached drawings.
[0063] As shown in the drawing, the modular drying unit (20) of the present invention has a storage space (21) with an open top, so that mixed raw materials (the main component of the mixed raw materials is sludge, and since sludge is introduced during initial operation, it will be referred to as sludge) falling from the lower discharge side of the first conveyor (6) are accommodated inside the storage space (21).
[0064] As shown in the drawing, these drying units (20) are loaded at regular intervals on the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) and configured to move in an endless track manner along the circulation moving device (10) on a flat surface.
[0065] That is, several drying units (20) are configured to move along the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10).
[0067] In addition, the lower part of the drying unit (20) is not a completely closed structure and is connected to the storage space (21), and a ventilation net (22) is installed in a mesh structure of a size that allows air to pass through but prevents the sludge from passing through.
[0068] Through this, hot air or dry air introduced from the heat supply device (30) is configured to pass through the interior and move toward the hot air induction device (40).
[0070] In addition, a fan connection member (23) may be installed at the bottom of the drying unit (20).
[0071] Here, the fan connection member (23) may be composed of an adsorption member connected to a vacuum pump, or an electromagnet that operates selectively by receiving power supply.
[0072] This absence allows for selective coupling rather than constant coupling.
[0074] Meanwhile, on the outer surface of the drying unit (20), a reverse fastening member (24) may be installed to protrude outwardly from both side walls so as to be configured to perform gripping when reverse discharge is performed through the discharge device (50).
[0075] Looking at the illustrated discharge device (50), it is installed adjacent to the return side conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) and is configured to discharge the sludge inside the drying unit (30) in which the internal sludge is dried while moving along the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10).
[0076] In the drawing, the discharge device (50) is provided with a gripping member (51) to which the reverse fastening member (24) is fastened, and the gripping member (51) is connected to a moving member (53) that moves up and down along a transfer chain (55) relative to a frame (54).
[0077] In addition, one side of the gripping member (51) is connected to a driving motor (52) and is configured to rotate by the operation of the driving motor.
[0078] Accordingly, when the drying unit (20) reaches the position where the gripping member (51) is located along the conveyor (11) and the inversion fastening member (24) is inserted into the groove of the gripping member (51), and the moving member (53) moves upward, and the driving motor (52) is operated, the gripping member (51) rotates 180 degrees around the axis of the driving motor (52), so that the drying unit (30) becomes in an inverted state, and the contents inside can be discharged downward.
[0079] In this state, when the drive motor (52) rotates in the opposite direction and the moving member (53) returns to a downwardly moved state, the drying unit (20) moves along the conveyor (11).
[0080] At this time, as shown in the enlarged drawing in the lower center of FIG. 1, an auxiliary conveyor (13) is provided at the point where the two corner conveyors (11) intersect, and an actuator (14) is provided to raise and lower one side of the auxiliary conveyor (13), and if a roller is installed between the auxiliary conveyors (13) that intersects the direction of travel of the auxiliary conveyor (13), then the movement of the drying unit (20) can be selectively determined according to the operation of the actuator (14).
[0081] The mixed raw material discharged from the above discharge device (50) is transferred to the pellet cooling storage tank (2) along the second transfer conveyor (60), and a cooling device (70) may be installed in the middle to cool the dried mixed raw material.
[0083] In the above configuration, the conveyor (11) of the circulation moving device (10) is composed of a freely rotating roller (11a) as shown in FIG. 6, and an actuator (12) that pushes and moves the drying unit (20) may be provided at each section end of the circulation moving device (10).
[0084] In this case, there is no need to build a conveyor (11) facility, which has an economic advantage.
[0085] However, in this case, the adjacent drying unit (20) must move stably together by the operation of the actuator (12).
[0086] To this end, as illustrated, the drying unit (20) has a wing portion (26) formed that protrudes horizontally around its upper circumference, and one side of its circumference is formed of a lower wing portion (27) which is lower in height than the wing portion (26) and has a packing (27a) installed on its upper side, and the wing portion (26) of an adjacent drying unit (20) can be configured to be supported and seated by the packing (27a) of the lower wing portion (27).
[0087] In this case, transfer can be carried out while in a stable mutual support state.
[0089] In the above configuration, when the sludge in the drying unit (20) is deposited on the ventilation mesh (22), the upper part of the sludge becomes dry quickly due to the hot air supplied downward, whereas the part in contact with the ventilation mesh (22) becomes dry much more slowly than the upper part, and if sufficient time is not provided, it becomes wet and the overall moisture content does not become homogeneous.
[0090] If reverse discharge is performed from the discharge device (50) while the contact area of the ventilation mesh (22) is wet, the wet area may adhere to the ventilation mesh (22), and a phenomenon may occur where discharge is not performed smoothly.
[0091] Also, even if discharge is performed, the sludge residue may not be cleanly removed from the ventilation mesh (22) and may stick to the ventilation mesh (22), and if the process is repeated in this state, poor drying and poor separation may occur.
[0092] From another perspective, since it is not desirable to increase the number of lines (number of heat supply devices or hot air induction devices) for the purpose of the present invention, it is desirable to minimize the number of lines while enabling rapid and homogeneous drying.
[0093] As a solution to these problems, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the ventilation net (22) can be configured to rotate and fold downward in the central part according to the load of the sludge, and return to its original position after the sludge is discharged.
[0094] Looking at the drawing, the drying unit (20) has shaft insertion grooves (21a) formed on a pair of side walls facing each other, and both ends of an operating shaft (28) are inserted into the two shaft insertion grooves (21a) and connected.
[0095] A hinge (28a) having plate-shaped connecting parts (28b) on both sides is connected to this operating shaft (28), and the two connecting parts (28b) are installed so that they can each rotate with respect to the operating shaft (28).
[0096] Additionally, a cylindrical coil spring (29) is installed to surround the operating shaft (28), and a bend portion (29a) is formed at both ends of the coil spring (29) to press against the connecting portion (28b), thereby providing a restoring force that causes each connecting portion (28b) to rotate upward.
[0097] In addition, the ventilation mesh (22) is divided into two parts, and each ventilation mesh (22) has a connecting part (22a) formed in a direction facing each other and is configured to be connected to the connecting part (28b).
[0098] Looking at this configuration, as the load applied to the ventilation mesh (22) increases during the process of sludge flowing into the drying unit (20), the ventilation mesh (22) gradually changes into a folded shape as shown in the left-right drawing of FIG. 8.
[0099] Accordingly, the lower part of the sludge takes on a 'W' shape due to the folded ventilation mesh (22), increasing the contact area with air, thereby facilitating lower drying.
[0100] In addition, as the moisture contained in the product evaporates during the drying process, the weight becomes lighter, and due to the restoring force of the coil spring (29), it gradually changes into a shape like the one on the left, so that it can be discharged in a form that is easy to process into a cuboid shape in the subsequent process.
[0101] In order to induce a cuboid shape after drying is completed and to ensure smooth accumulation of initial sludge, it is preferable that the drying unit (20), as shown in the drawing, has a stopper (21b) installed on the side wall that intersects the side wall connected to the operating shaft (28) to suppress the upward rotation of the two ventilation meshes (22).
[0102] Additionally, in order to ensure smooth movement of the ventilation net (22), guide projections (22b) are formed at both ends of the ventilation net (22) in a direction parallel to the operating shaft (28), and it is preferable that the drying unit (20) has a rounded guide groove (21c) formed on the side wall connected to the operating shaft (28) so that the guide projections (22b) are fitted along the rotation path of the ventilation net (22) relative to the operating shaft (28).
[0103] At this time, it is more desirable to improve the drying efficiency of the inner lower sludge by forming the guide groove (21c) so that both sides are spaced apart from each other so that it is not formed in the central part as shown in the drawing, thereby preventing the ventilation mesh (22) on both sides from meeting completely.
[0105] The above configuration allows for the circulation of a drying unit, in which a certain amount of mixed raw material containing sludge and a moisture regulator is stored, along a circulation moving device. Additionally, a heat supply device that supplies hot air at regular intervals and a hot air induction device that sucks in hot air are arranged in the circulation moving device, thereby inducing the supply and exhaust of hot air while the drying unit is maintained at each location of the heat supply device and the hot air induction device for a certain period of time, which enables the treatment efficiency to be improved by accurately and quickly inducing an appropriate moisture content compared to conventional methods.
[0106] In addition, by applying a modularized automated process using a drying unit, productivity is improved compared to conventional methods, and the safety of workers from hazardous environments can be ensured.
[0107] In addition, the difference in drying efficiency between the upper and lower parts of the sludge inside the drying unit is minimized through the foldable ventilation mesh structure, allowing for rapid and uniform drying in a continuous process, so that drying can be carried out effectively without installing excessive drying equipment.
