Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a test socket, and more specifically, to a test socket in which the coupling between members is simplified and the manufacturing cost for fabricating the structure can be reduced by connecting a latch module to an actuator member. Background Technology

[0002] After undergoing the manufacturing process, semiconductor devices are tested to evaluate their electrical performance. Performance testing is performed by inserting a semiconductor chip test socket, which is designed to make electrical contact with the device's terminals, between the semiconductor device and a test circuit board. In addition to testing semiconductor devices, semiconductor chip test sockets are also used during the burn-in testing process in the manufacturing process.

[0003] During the semiconductor testing process, the semiconductor is mounted within a test socket; therefore, it is crucial to reliably achieve mounting the semiconductor into this socket.

[0004] Conventional test sockets included a base on which the device under test is mounted, a latch module connected to the base, and an actuator that operates the latch module. Such test sockets had the problem of a complex connection structure between components and were difficult to disassemble or reassemble. Prior art literature

[0005] Published Patent No. 10-2011-0085710 The problem to be solved

[0008] According to one embodiment, the latch member includes a latch body and a latch axis, the latch body has a latch finger at one end, and the latch member rotates around the latch axis, wherein the closing state is a position in which the latch finger is lowered and the opening state is a position in which the latch finger is raised.

[0009] According to one embodiment, the latch member comprises a latch body, a latch axis located on the left and right sides of the latch body, a latch finger protruding from the latch body, and an inner pushing projection protruding from the latch body and located below the latch finger, and the latch member is connected to the actuator member through the latch axis, and when the actuator member and the latch member descend, the pushing portion interferes with the inner pushing projection, causing the latch member to rotate around the latch axis.

[0010] According to one embodiment, the test socket includes a latch spring, and the latch member includes an outer pushing projection, the outer pushing projection being located on the opposite side of the inner pushing projection, and the latch spring is positioned between the outer pushing projection and the base member to elastically bias the latch member in a direction such that the latch member becomes closed.

[0011] According to one embodiment, the latch member includes a slit portion that divides the latch body into a plurality of parts in the left-right direction, and when a lateral external force is applied to the latch body, the width of the slit portion varies and the lateral width of the latch body varies.

[0012] According to one embodiment, the actuator member includes a latch mounting portion, wherein the latch mounting portion includes a mounting space portion in which the latch member may be located, and a latch connection portion into which the latch shaft may be inserted.

[0013] According to one embodiment, the actuator member comprises an actuator body portion having a seating space and an actuator surrounding portion constituting the outer periphery of the actuator body portion, and the mounting space portion is configured as a space penetrating at least one part of the actuator body portion and the actuator surrounding portion.

[0014] According to one embodiment, the base member includes a base body portion in which a contact mounting hole is formed, and the actuator member includes an actuator body portion in which a contact through hole is formed. Effects of the invention

[0015] In a test socket according to an embodiment of the present invention, a latch module is connected to an actuator member, the latch module interferes with a base member only through a pushing portion, and is elastically biased through a latch spring.

[0016] Accordingly, compared to a conventional test socket in which a latch module is connected to a base member, the test socket according to the embodiment has a simpler shape and structure, and connection / disconnection can be easily performed. Therefore, connection between members is simple, and the manufacturing cost for fabricating the structure can be reduced. Brief explanation of the drawing

Specific details for implementing the invention

[0018] Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment according to the present invention will be described with reference to the attached drawings.

[0020] FIG. 1 is a drawing showing the external appearance of a test socket (1) according to an embodiment. FIG. 2 is a drawing showing an exploded view of the test socket (1) of FIG. 1. In the following description, "left and right," "front and back," and "up and down" indicating directions are based on the X, Y, and Z axes of FIG. 1, respectively.

[0021] A test socket (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a base member (100), a latch module (200), and an actuator member (300).

[0023] FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating the base member (100) of FIG. 2.

[0024] The base member (100) forms the lower part of the test socket (1).

[0025] The base member (100) may include a base body portion (110), a base surrounding portion (120), an open portion (130), and a pushing portion (140) that constitute the outer periphery of the base body portion (110).

[0026] The base body portion (110) constitutes the body of the base member (100). The base body portion (110) may be provided with a plurality of contact mounting holes (112) that penetrate the base body portion (110) in the vertical direction. A contact member may be mounted within the contact mounting holes (112).

[0027] The base surrounding portion (120) forms the outer periphery of the base member (100) and may have a bulkhead-shaped configuration having a predetermined height.

[0028] The open portion (130) may be a portion that is opened by removing at least one part of the base surrounding portion (120). According to an embodiment, the open portion (130) may be located on the front and rear sides of the base member (100), respectively, and may be positioned symmetrically in the front and rear directions.

[0029] A spring support (132) may be provided within the open portion (130). For example, as shown in the drawing, a groove and a spring support (132) in the form of a projection provided within the groove may be provided within the open portion (130).

[0030] The pushing portion (140) is provided on the base body portion (110) and may be a protrusion that protrudes from the base body portion (110) by a predetermined height. The pushing portion (140) may be located inside the open portion (130). Specifically, the pushing portion (140) may be located inside the spring support portion (132). Accordingly, the pushing portion (140) may be located on the front and rear sides of the base member (100), respectively, and may be positioned symmetrically in the front and rear directions.

[0032] FIG. 4 is a drawing illustrating a latch module (200) of a test socket (1) according to an embodiment. FIG. 5 and 6 show a latch member (200-1) constituting the latch module (200) from different directions.

[0033] The latch module (200) may include one or more latch members (200-1, 200-2). The latch members (200-1, 200-2) may be, for example, two, and each may be positioned on the left and right sides of the base member (100).

[0034] The latch member (200-1) can be deformed according to an external force and restored to its shape when the external force is removed. The latch member (200-1) may be composed of a material having elastic restoring force. Additionally, the latch member (200-1) may be composed of a material with relatively low friction. For example, the latch member (200-1) may be composed of a synthetic resin.

[0035] The latch member (200-1) may include a latch body (210), a latch shaft (220), a latch finger (230), an inner pushing projection (240), an outer pushing projection (250), and a slit portion (260).

[0036] The latch body (210) is a part that constitutes the body of the latch member (200-1). The latch body (210) may have a predetermined width in the left-right direction.

[0037] The latch body (210) may have an inner side (212) and an outer side (214) in the front-rear direction. Specifically, when the latch member (200-1) is installed in the test socket (1), if the direction in which the latch members (200-1) face each other is called the inner side and the opposite direction is called the outer side, the inner side of the latch body (210) constitutes the inner side (212), and the outer side of the latch body (210) constitutes the outer side (214).

[0038] According to an embodiment, the left and right outer surfaces of the latch body (210) may have a relatively low coefficient of friction. For example, the left and right outer surfaces of the latch body (210) may be provided with sliding surfaces. For example, the sliding surfaces may be polished to have a low coefficient of friction. As another example, the sliding surfaces may have a configuration in which means having a low coefficient of friction are combined.

[0039] The latch shaft (220) is a part that forms the pivot center axis when the latch member (200-1) is rotated. For example, the latch shaft (220) may be composed of a protruding shaft portion that protrudes in the left and right directions of the latch body (210).

[0040] The latch finger (230) is a part that fixes the position of the device under inspection. The latch finger (230) may be a hook-shaped part protruding from the inner side (212) of the latch body (210).

[0041] The inner pushing projection (240) is a projection that protrudes inward from the inner side (212) of the latch body (210). The inner pushing projection (240) may protrude forward by a predetermined width from the inner side (212) of the latch body (210). The inner pushing projection (240) may be located above the latch axis (220).

[0042] The outer pushing projection (250) is provided on the outer side (214) of the latch body (210) and is a projection that protrudes downward. The outer pushing projection (250) is a projection to which a latch spring (not shown) can be fixed.

[0043] A slit portion (260) is formed in the latch body (210). The slit portion (260) may be configured as a space in which at least one part of the latch body (210) is removed. That is, the slit portion (260) may be configured as a space in which at least one part of the latch body (210) can be divided into two or more regions (210a, 210b) separated in the left and right directions.

[0044] For example, as illustrated in FIG. 6, the slit portion (260) may be a slit extending in a direction penetrating between the inner side (212) and the outer side (214) of the latch body (210). However, it is not limited thereto, and the slit portion (260) may have any configuration that varies the width of the latch body (210).

[0045] The left-right width of at least one part of the latch body (210) can be varied. Such variation in the left-right width of the latch body (210) can be achieved by the slit portion (260).

[0046] Due to the slit portion (260) above, the latch member (200-1) can be deformed according to an external force and restored to its shape when the external force is removed. For example, as shown in FIG. 6, if a compressive force is applied inwardly to both sides of the latch member (200-1) as indicated by arrow F, the width of the slit portion (260) can be narrowed. Accordingly, the left-right width (L) of the latch body (210) can be reduced. When the compressive force is removed, the width of the slit portion (260) can be restored. That is, when the external force is removed, the left-right width (L) of the latch body (210) can be restored.

[0048] FIG. 7 is a drawing illustrating the actuator member (300) of FIG. 2. FIG. 8 is a drawing showing a cross-section of the actuator member (300).

[0049] The actuator member (300) is positioned on the upper part of the base member (100). The actuator member (300) is a member capable of being displaced in the up and down direction relative to the base member (100).

[0050] The actuator member (300) may include an actuator body part (310) and an actuator surrounding part (320).

[0051] The actuator body portion (310) is configured in the form of a block having a predetermined area. The actuator body portion (310) may include a plurality of contact through holes (312) that penetrate the actuator body portion (310) in the vertical direction. A seating space (314) is formed on the actuator body portion (310) so that a device to be tested can be seated thereon.

[0052] The actuator surrounding portion (320) is located on the upper part of the actuator body portion (310) and is a bulkhead-shaped portion surrounding the seating space (314). That is, the actuator member (300) may have a seating space (314) formed at the center of the upper surface and may be provided with an actuator surrounding portion (320) of a wall that surrounds the seating space (314) from the front, back, left, and right sides.

[0053] A latch mounting portion (330) may be provided on the front and rear sides of the actuator member (300). The latch mounting portion (330) may be configured as a penetration portion that penetrates the front and rear sides of the actuator member (300) in the front and rear direction.

[0054] Specifically, the latch mounting portion (330) may include a mounting space portion (332) and a latch connection portion (334) formed in the mounting space portion (332).

[0055] The mounting space (332) may include a first space (332a) penetrating the actuator surrounding part (320) and a second space (332b) penetrating the actuator body part (310). The second space (332b) is a portion penetrating the actuator surrounding part (320) in the front-rear direction, and the first space (332a) may be a portion penetrating the actuator body part (310) in the up-down direction.

[0056] The latch connection portion (334) may be a groove into which the latch shaft (220) can be inserted. Specifically, the latch connection portion (334) may be a connection groove formed on the left and right sides of the second space (332b) with the second space (332b) in between.

[0058] The following describes the connection relationships of each component.

[0059] FIG. 9 is a drawing showing the connection structure of a latch module (200) and an actuator member (300).

[0060] First, the connection structure of the latch module (200) and the actuator member (300) will be explained with reference to FIG. 9.

[0061] As indicated by arrow A in FIG. 9, the latch module (200) can be mounted on the latch mounting portion (330) of the actuator member (300). Specifically, the latch member (200-1) is positioned on the latch mounting portion (330) of the actuator member (300), and at this time, the latch shaft (220) provided on the left and right sides of the latch body (210) of the latch member (200-1) can be inserted into the latch connection portion (334) of the actuator member (300).

[0062] As previously explained, the latch body (210) of the latch member (200-1) has a variable width in the left-right direction. Therefore, during the process of mounting the latch module (200) onto the latch mounting part (330), a pressing force is applied to the latch body (210) in the left-right direction to reduce the left-right width of the latch body (210), thereby positioning the latch member (200-1) within the latch mounting part (330), and then, when the pressing force is released, the latch shaft (220) can be inserted into the connection part. Accordingly, the latch member (200-1) is connected to the actuator member (300) by the latch shaft (220) and can rotate around the latch shaft (220).

[0063] Next, referring to FIG. 10, the coupling relationship between the actuator member (300) and the base member (100) will be explained. FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the connection relationship between the base member (100) and the actuator member (300).

[0064] As shown by arrow B in Fig. 10, an actuator member (300) may be placed on the base member (100).

[0065] When an actuator member (300) is placed on a base member (100), an actuator body part (310) is positioned on a base body part (110) of the base member (100). At this time, a contact mounting hole (112) formed in the base body and a contact through hole (312) formed in the actuator body part (310) can be positioned in a line in the vertical direction. Accordingly, a predetermined contact member can be positioned in a manner that penetrates one contact mounting hole (112) and one contact through hole (312).

[0066] FIG. 11 is a diagram showing the connection relationship between a latch member (200-1) and a base member (100). With reference to FIG. 11, the connection relationship between the latch member (200-1) and the base member (100) will be explained.

[0067] When an actuator member (300) is placed on a base member (100), a latch member (200-1) connected to the actuator member (300) has at least one part located in an open part (130) of the base member (100).

[0068] At this time, as indicated by arrow C, the pushing portion (140) provided on the base member (100) is located below the inner pushing projection (240) of the latch member (200-1). At this time, there is a predetermined gap between the inner side (212) portion of the latch member (200-1) and the actuator body portion (310) of the actuator member (300), and the pushing portion (140) can be inserted within the gap. Thus, the pushing portion (140) can be located below the inner pushing projection (240).

[0069] Additionally, a latch spring (400) may be positioned between the outer pushing projection (250) of the latch member (200-1) and the spring support portion (132) of the base member (100). The latch spring (400) is a predetermined coil spring that is fixed between the outer pushing projection (250) and the spring support portion (132) and is capable of providing elasticity in the vertical direction.

[0070] Accordingly, the lower end of the latch spring (400) is fixed to the spring support (132), and the upper end of the latch spring (400) can be fixed to the outer pushing projection (250). Accordingly, the latch spring (400) can elastically bias upward with respect to the outer side (214) of the latch member (200-1).

[0072] FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view of the test socket (1) according to the embodiment when it is in a closed state, and FIG. 13 is an enlarged view of part A of FIG. 12. FIG. 14 is a cross-sectional view of the test socket (1) according to the embodiment when it is in an open state, and FIG. 15 is an enlarged view of part A of FIG. 14.

[0073] Hereinafter, the operation of a test socket (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 12 to 15.

[0074] As shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, when the actuator member (300) is in a raised state, a latch spring (not shown) elastically biases the outer side (214) of the latch member (200-1) upward. Accordingly, the latch member (200-1) maintains a closed state (a state in which the latch finger (230) is lowered and supports the device under inspection seated in the seating space (314)). In this state, the pushing part (140) and the latch member (200-1) do not interfere with each other.

[0075] As indicated by arrow P in FIG. 14, when the actuator member (300) descends, the latch member (200-1) connected to the actuator member (300) also descends together, causing interference between the pushing portion (140) of the base member (100) and the inner pushing projection (240) of the latch member (200-1). Consequently, as indicated by arrow Q in FIG. 15, the pushing portion (140) pushes the inner pushing projection (240), and the latch member (200-1) rotates as indicated by arrow R. Consequently, the latch member (200-1) becomes open (a state where the latch finger (230) rises and the seating space (314) is open).

[0076] It is obvious that when the actuator member (300) rises again and the interference between the latch member (200-1) and the pushing part (140) of the base member (100) is released, the latch member (200-1) is restored to the closing state by the previously described latch spring (not shown).

[0078] In the test socket (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention, the latch module (200) is connected to the actuator member (300), and the latch module (200) interferes with the base member (100) only through the pushing part (140) and is elastically biased only through the latch spring (not shown).

[0079] Accordingly, compared to a conventional test socket (1) in which a latch module (200) is connected to a base member (100), the test socket (1) according to the embodiment has a simpler shape and structure, and can be easily connected / disconnected. Therefore, the connection between members is simple, and the manufacturing cost for producing the structure can be reduced.

[0081] Although preferred embodiments have been illustrated and described above, the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments described above. Various modifications are possible by those skilled in the art without departing from the essence of the invention as claimed in the claims, and such modifications should not be understood individually from the technical spirit or perspective of the present invention.
