Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a welding base material fixing device, and more specifically, to a welding base material fixing device that fixes the welding base material using a vacuum during friction stir welding. Background Technology

[0002] In today's advanced industrial society, the development of welding technology is further enhancing product productivity and quality, and countries around the world are making significant efforts to develop new welding technologies to increase productivity, which directly impacts the price competitiveness of export products.

[0003] Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technology, an eco-friendly and energy-saving production process developed by The Welding Institute (TWI) in the UK in 1991, is a solid-state welding method in which the base material does not melt. It is receiving significant attention from the industrial sector due to its superior weld characteristics and quality compared to conventional fusion welding methods, and is achieving remarkable results in the application process for railway vehicles, ships, aircraft, automobiles, and semiconductor fields.

[0004] Friction stir welding refers to a method of joining two separated metals by installing a rotating tool at the joint and utilizing the frictional heat generated between the rotating tool and the metals to be joined.

[0005] This friction stir welding is primarily utilized for non-ferrous sheet materials, such as precipitation-hardened aluminum alloys, which are prone to welding cracks and deformation during high-temperature fusion welding, and research is also actively underway to apply it to steel materials with high heat sensitivity.

[0006] The friction stir welding device includes a friction stir welding tool made of a material having a higher hardness than the base material being joined, and a driving member that moves the friction stir welding tool along the joint of two divided base materials while rotating the friction stir welding tool.

[0007] Therefore, as the friction stir welding tool rotates and moves along the joint of the two base materials, frictional heat is generated between the friction stir welding tool and the joint of the base materials, and solid-state joining is achieved as the stirring action of the material is activated by the plastic flow of the softened joint due to this frictional heat and the pressure applied by the friction stir welding tool.

[0008] Meanwhile, conventionally, during friction stir welding, the base material to be welded (hereinafter referred to as the welding base material) was placed on the welding die, and welding was performed after fixing the welding base material using a clamp provided on the welding die.

[0009] However, when fixing the welding base material using a clamp, the clamp positioned on the welding surface may interfere with the welding process, which has the disadvantage of reducing workability and, in severe cases, causing welding defects.

[0010] The matters described above as background technology are intended only to enhance understanding of the background of the present invention and should not be construed as an acknowledgment that they constitute prior art already known to those skilled in the art. Prior art literature

[0015] It is characterized by further including an actuator connected to the above vacuum cup and moving the vacuum cup up and down when operated.

[0016] The above actuator is characterized by including an actuator rod that moves linearly in the up-and-down direction when the actuator is operated; and further including a connecting frame that connects the vacuum pipe and the actuator rod.

[0017] It is characterized by further including a support frame that is combined with the above-mentioned connecting frame and supports one side of the welding base material adsorbed in the vacuum cup.

[0018] The above support frame is characterized by supporting the weld base material by contacting the opposite side of the weld surface of the weld base material. Effects of the invention
