Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a smart container dedicated to the storage and transport of hazardous materials, specifically lithium batteries. More specifically, the invention relates to a smart container dedicated to the storage and transport of hazardous materials, specifically lithium batteries, which detects and notifies of danger signs such as temperature, gas, and smoke inside the container in real time, enables automatic exhaust and ventilation of the container, and prevents explosions caused by fire by injecting CO2 in the event of a fire. Background Technology

[0003] Recently, as issues such as power shortages and eco-friendly energy have come to the forefront, Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for storing generated electricity are receiving more attention.

[0004] For example, the Smart Grid System is being proposed as one of the measures to regulate power supply and demand. The amount of electricity consumed by consumers is not always constant and can fluctuate frequently. Typically, using such an ESS makes it easy to establish a power management system like a Smart Grid System, which allows for easy regulation of power supply and demand in specific regions or cities. Furthermore, as the commercialization of electric vehicles accelerates, such ESS can also be applied to electric charging stations capable of charging electric vehicles.

[0005] While ESS can be configured in various forms, it is typically configured to include one or more battery containers. A container refers to a configuration designed to store goods internally, and generally refers to a marine container that can be transported by sea as well as by land. In particular, marine containers can have large sizes, such as 20-foot or 40-foot containers. It can be argued that the term 'container' is used because the battery containers included in an ESS have large sizes, similar to these marine containers.

[0006] A battery container may contain multiple battery modules connected in series and / or parallel. Here, the multiple battery modules are stacked via a rack frame or a separate fixed structure to form a battery rack, and one or more battery racks may be housed inside a container housing.

[0007] In the case of ESS used in smart grid systems, a large number of battery containers can typically be connected to increase charging and discharging capacity. However, conventional battery containers present a problem in that they are not easy to transport or install. Furthermore, because battery containers are large and very heavy, they are difficult to move once they are positioned. Therefore, connecting multiple battery containers on-site requires not only detailed process design and high worker proficiency but can also take a significant amount of time.

[0008] Furthermore, in the case of conventional battery containers, additional connections are not easy. Moreover, once the installation of an ESS is completed by connecting multiple containers, the process of connecting and installing additional battery containers can be very difficult. Therefore, there is a problem in that the process of adjusting or expanding the value chain of an ESS by connecting multiple containers on-site is very cumbersome and difficult. For example, when installing a conventional ESS, there is the inconvenience of requiring ground work to directly DC connect the battery container to the Power Conversion System (PCS; Power Conversion System or Power Conditioning System). Additionally, when using battery containers, there is a constraint that a longer DC line must be applied as the distance between the battery container and the PCS increases. Therefore, according to conventional technology, there are problems in that the installation process is complex, the installation time is very long, and significant costs or effort are required to prepare each material.

[0009] In addition, battery containers are required not only for such workability, assembly, and scalability, but also for various performance capabilities such as high energy density and fire safety. Prior art literature
