[0022] The terms and words used in the specification and claims described below should not be interpreted as being limited to their ordinary or dictionary meanings, but should be interpreted in a meaning and concept consistent with the technical spirit of the invention, based on the principle that the inventor can appropriately define the concept of the terms to best describe his invention. Accordingly, the embodiments described in this specification and the configurations illustrated in the drawings are merely preferred embodiments of the invention and do not represent all aspects of the technical spirit of the invention; therefore, it should be understood that various equivalents and modifications capable of replacing them may exist at the time of filing this application.
[0023] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the attached drawings.
[0024] First, a system for providing control using a spreadsheet-based user-defined function according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating a system for providing control using a spreadsheet-based user-defined function according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating the configuration of a server device for providing control using a spreadsheet-based user-defined function according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0025] First, referring to FIG. 1, a system for providing control using a spreadsheet-based user-defined function according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a server device (100) and a terminal device (200).
[0026] The server device (100) is basically an entity existing on a network that stores data containing information required by the terminal device (200) and is intended to provide data corresponding to a query of the terminal device (200). In particular, when the server device (100) receives a spreadsheet containing a control function, which is a user-defined function, it can create a control according to the control function and configure a page containing the created control to provide to the terminal device (200).
[0027] The terminal device (200) is basically a device used by a user. The terminal device (200) can be exemplified by a personal computer, a laptop, a smartphone, etc. The terminal device (200) can create a spreadsheet containing cell values corresponding to control functions according to user input, transmit the created spreadsheet to the server device (100) via a network, and then receive a page corresponding to the spreadsheet from the server device (100) and display it on the screen. In addition, the terminal device (200) can change cell values on the spreadsheet according to user input, transmit the changed cell values to the server device (100), and receive a page that has been updated and reconstructed according to the changed cell values and display it on the screen.
[0028] Referring to FIG. 2, the server device (100) includes a server communication unit (110), a template processing unit (120), a computation processing unit (130), and a storage unit (140).
[0029] The server communication unit (110) is for communication with the terminal device (200). The server communication unit (110) can perform communication with the terminal device (200) connected via a wired or wireless network.
[0030] The template processing unit (120) is intended to generate a template based on a spreadsheet and to store the generated template in the storage unit (140). The spreadsheet includes cell values corresponding to control functions. The control functions include a radio button function that provides a radio button function and a checkbox function that provides a checkbox function. The template includes cell values corresponding to control functions and display information, which is information for displaying the control corresponding to the control function on the screen. Here, the display information may include an image corresponding to the control (including images when selected and when not selected), styles, formatting, formulas, graphs, etc., for configuring the screen containing the control.
[0031] The operation processing unit (130) is for configuring a page including a control. According to one embodiment, when a template is loaded, the operation processing unit (130) performs data binding based on the template to apply cell values to control functions to configure the control, generates binding data that displays the control by applying display information, and can configure the page according to the binding data. According to another embodiment, if binding data exists, the operation processing unit (130) can reconfigure the page by updating the values of connected cells on the binding data.
[0032] The storage unit (140) is for storing templates and binding data. In particular, the storage unit (140) may include a cache area for storing binding data.
[0033] The specific operation of the server device (100) including the aforementioned server communication unit (110), template processing unit (120), operation processing unit (130), and storage unit (140) will be explained in more detail below.
[0034] First, a method for storing a template generated based on a spreadsheet including control functions in a server device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 3 is a flowchart illustrating a method for generating a template based on a spreadsheet including control functions according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 4 is a screen example illustrating a method for generating a template based on a spreadsheet including control functions according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0035] Referring to FIG. 3, the terminal device (200) can create a spreadsheet containing cell values corresponding to control functions according to user input in step S110.
[0036] The control function includes a radio button function that provides radio button functionality and a checkbox function that provides checkbox functionality.
[0037] The parameters of the radio button function include a first parameter for setting the text displayed on the radio button, a second parameter for setting the value of the radio button when the radio button is selected, and a third parameter for setting a linked cell, which is the cell to be updated when the value of the radio button changes.
[0038] The parameters of the checkbox function include a first parameter for setting the text displayed in the checkbox, a second parameter for setting the value when the checkbox is selected, and a third parameter for setting the linked cell, which is the cell to be updated when the checkbox value changes.
[0039] An example of a spreadsheet screen containing radio button functions is shown in FIG. 4. As shown, the text displayed for the five radio button functions is "Yes," "Slightly Yes," "Neutral / Unsure," "Slightly No," and "No," respectively, and the values of the radio buttons are 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, respectively. Additionally, cell A4 is set as a linked cell. Accordingly, if the value of the linked cell is 3, "Neutral / Unsure," which has a radio button value of 3, will be selected.
[0040] Thus, according to the present invention, a plurality of controls (a plurality of radio buttons and a plurality of checkboxes) can be controlled simultaneously through a connection cell, which is a third parameter. In other words, a plurality of controls having the same connection cell, which is a third parameter, are controlled by the corresponding connection cell.
[0041] Meanwhile, in Figure 4, the displayed text and radio button values are shown as being entered directly, but the corresponding text or value can also be entered into the cell by specifying the cell value.
[0042] As described above, when a spreadsheet containing a control function is created, the terminal device (200) can transmit the spreadsheet to the server device (100). Accordingly, the server communication unit (110) of the server device (100) can receive the spreadsheet containing cell values corresponding to the control function at step S120.
[0043] Then, the template processing unit (120) generates a template in step S130 that includes display information, which is information for displaying a control corresponding to a control function on a screen and a cell value corresponding to a control function. Here, the display information may include an image corresponding to the control (including images when selected and when not selected), a style, format, formula, graph, etc., for configuring the screen containing the control.
[0044] Then, the template processing unit (120) stores the template in the storage unit (140) at step S140.
[0045] Next, a method for providing controls using user-defined functions from a template generated based on an uploaded spreadsheet as described above, according to an embodiment of the present invention, will be described. FIG. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a method for providing controls using user-defined functions according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 6 is a screen example illustrating a method for providing controls using user-defined functions according to an embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 5, as previously described, a spreadsheet is uploaded, and a template is generated from the spreadsheet and saved.
[0046] Referring to FIG. 5, the terminal device (200) may request the server device (100) to look up a page containing controls based on a spreadsheet according to user input at step S210. Accordingly, the server communication unit (110) of the server device (100) may receive the request to look up the page at step S210.
[0047] Then, the template processing unit (120) loads the template stored in the storage unit (140) in the previous step (S140) at step S220. As described above, the template includes cell values corresponding to control functions and display information, which is information for displaying controls corresponding to control functions on the screen. Here, the display information may exemplify an image corresponding to the control (including images when selected and when not selected), styles, formatting, formulas, graphs, etc., for configuring the screen containing the control.
[0048] When the template is loaded, the operation processing unit (130) performs data binding based on the template in step S230 and applies the cell value to the control function to configure the control. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, when the text displayed for the five radio button functions is "Yes," "Slightly Yes," "Neutral / Don't Know," "Slightly No," and "No," and the values of the radio buttons are 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, respectively, and the value of the connected cell is 3, then the state is configured such that "Neutral / Don't Know," which has a radio button value of 3, is selected.
[0049] Next, the operation processing unit (130) generates binding data that displays the control by applying display information in step S230. That is, the operation processing unit (130) applies the size of the image representing the control, as well as styles and formatting, to the control.
[0050] Then, the operation processing unit (130) configures the page according to the binding data in step S240. According to one embodiment, the operation processing unit (130) can configure the page in a file format such as JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), for example.
[0051] Next, the computation processing unit (130) provides the S260 configured page to the terminal device (200).
[0052] Accordingly, the terminal device (200) receives the page and can display it on the screen at step S270. An example of a page displayed on the screen is illustrated in FIG. 6. As previously described, if the value of the connection cell is 3, a page is displayed configured with "Normal / Don't Know" selected, where the value of the radio button is 3.
[0053] Meanwhile, optionally, when the editing function of a cell is activated by the terminal device (200), the operation processing unit (130) can set the connection cell, which is a cell whose value of the control changes according to the input to the control among the cell values in step S280, to a modifiable state and temporarily store the binding data in the cache area of the storage unit (140).
[0054] Next, a method for providing control using a user-defined function according to an additional embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a method for providing control using a user-defined function according to an additional embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 7, as previously described (S270), a state is assumed in which a page including a control function as illustrated in FIG. 6 is displayed on the screen. Additionally, in FIG. 7, a state is assumed in which step S280, which temporarily stores binding data, is not performed.
[0055] The user can view the corresponding page through the displayed screen and input to modify the cell value in order to modify the page. Based on this user input, the terminal device (200) receives the cell value to be changed in step S310 and can transmit an update request to the server device (100) requesting a change to the cell value in step S320. This update request includes the cell value to be changed. Then, the server communication unit (110) of the server device (100) can receive the update request requesting a change to the cell value from the terminal device (200) in step S320.
[0056] When an update request is received, the template processing unit (120) loads the template at step S330. As described above, the template includes cell values corresponding to control functions and display information for displaying controls corresponding to control functions on the screen. Here, the display information may exemplify an image corresponding to the control (including images when selected and when not selected), styles, formatting, formulas, graphs, etc., for configuring the screen containing the control.
[0057] The operation processing unit (130) changes the cell value corresponding to the requested change among the cell values of the template in step S340.
[0058] Then, the operation processing unit (130) performs data binding based on the template at step S350 and applies the changed cell value to the control function to configure the control. For example, referring to FIG. 4, assume that the cell value corresponding to the first parameter of the third radio button function among the five radio button functions has been changed from "Normal / Don't Know" to "Normal". Then, the text displayed on the third radio button can be configured by changing it from "Normal / Don't Know" to "Normal".
[0059] Next, the operation processing unit (130) generates binding data that displays the control by applying display information in step S360. That is, the operation processing unit (130) applies the size of the image representing the control, as well as styles and formatting, to the control.
[0060] Then, the processing unit (130) reconstructs the page according to the binding data in step S370. For example, the page may be reconstructed so that the text displayed on the third radio button of FIG. 6 is changed from "Normal / Don't Know" to "Normal". According to one embodiment, the processing unit (130) may construct the page in a file format such as JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), for example.
[0061] Next, the computation processing unit (130) provides the S380 reconstructed page to the terminal device (200).
[0062] Accordingly, the terminal device (200) receives the page and can update and display the screen at step S390. For example, when the third radio button of FIG. 6 is selected, the page can be displayed in which the text displayed is changed from "Normal / Don't Know" to "Normal".
[0063] Meanwhile, next, a method for providing control using a user-defined function according to another embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 8 is a flowchart for explaining a method for providing control using a user-defined function according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 9 is a screen example for explaining a method for providing control using a user-defined function according to another embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 8, as described above (S270), a state is assumed in which a page including a control function as illustrated in FIG. 6 is displayed on the screen. Also, in FIG. 8, as described above (S280), a state is assumed in which binding data is temporarily stored in the cache area of the storage unit (140).
[0064] The user can view the corresponding page through the displayed screen and input to change the value of the control on the screen. For example, according to FIG. 6, the page is displayed with the third radio button selected. In this state, the user can input to select the fourth radio button, as shown in (A) of FIG. 9. This is an input to change the value of the control, that is, the radio button. In other words, this is an input to change the value of the connection cell. In accordance with this user input, the terminal device (200) receives the value of the connection cell to be changed in step S410 and can transmit an update request to the server device (100) to request a change in the value of the connection cell in step S320. This update request includes the value of the connection cell to be changed. Then, the server communication unit (110) of the server device (100) can receive the update request to change the value of the connection cell from the terminal device (200) in step S420.
[0065] When an update request is received, the operation processing unit (130) loads the binding data stored in the cache area of the storage unit (140) at step S430.
[0066] Then, the operation processing unit (130) reconstructs the page by updating the value of the connection cell in the binding data at step S440. For example, as shown in (B) of FIG. 9, the page can be reconstructed with the 4th radio button selected. In this way, the operation processing unit (130) can reconstruct the page by changing only the value of the connection cell in the binding data without the need to perform template loading and data binding, thereby significantly reducing the computational load.
[0067] Next, the computation processing unit (130) provides the S450 reconstructed page to the terminal device (200).
[0068] Accordingly, the terminal device (200) receives the page and can update and display the screen at step S460. For example, as in (B) of FIG. 9, the page where the 4th radio button "slightly not" is selected can be displayed on the screen.
[0069] In Excel, to use controls such as checkboxes and radio buttons, you must add a separate Developer Tools menu. In particular, checkbox values are fixed at "TRUE" or "FALSE" and cannot be changed, and grouping radio buttons requires cumbersome steps, such as adding a group box first before adding the buttons. Consequently, to dynamically represent controls like checkboxes and radio buttons, you must use programmatic methods utilizing macros.
[0070] However, the present invention can provide a function to select individual rows in a list (table) through a checkbox on a web screen by updating the value of the connected cell without inserting separate operation processing code.
[0071] In addition, the present invention can provide a function that allows a single selection from a specific group via radio buttons on a web screen by updating the value of a connected cell without inserting separate operation processing code.
[0072] In other words, according to the present invention, by providing a control function that controls Excel-based controls such as checkboxes and radio buttons, controls such as checkboxes and radio buttons can be easily provided at the design stage simply by adding the control function. Accordingly, development productivity is improved.
[0073] Meanwhile, the method according to the embodiment of the present invention described above may be implemented in the form of a program readable through various computer means and recorded on a computer-readable recording medium. Here, the recording medium may include program instructions, data files, data structures, etc., either individually or in combination. The program instructions recorded on the recording medium may be those specifically designed and configured for the present invention, or those known and available to those skilled in the art of computer software. For example, the recording medium includes magnetic media such as hard disks, floppy disks, and magnetic tapes; optical recording media such as CD-ROMs and DVDs; magneto-optical media such as floptical disks; and hardware devices specifically configured to store and execute program instructions, such as ROM, RAM, and flash memory. Examples of program instructions may include machine language wires, such as those generated by a compiler, as well as high-level language wires that can be executed by a computer using an interpreter, etc. Such hardware devices may be configured to operate as one or more software modules to perform the operation of the present invention, and vice versa.
[0074] Although the present invention has been described above using several preferred embodiments, these embodiments are illustrative and not limiting. As such, those skilled in the art will understand that various changes and modifications can be made in accordance with the doctrine of equivalents without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of rights set forth in the appended claims.
