[0077] Referring to FIG. 5, the display area (DA) of the display panel (300) may include a plurality of unit pixel areas. For example, the plurality of unit pixel areas may include a first-1 unit pixel area to a fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) arranged in 4 rows and 4 columns. The display area (DA) may include more unit pixel areas as the resolution of the display device (10) increases. Accordingly, the display area (DA) may include a plurality of unit pixel areas arranged in p rows and q columns (p, q are natural numbers) according to the resolution of the display device (10).
[0078] Each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may include a plurality of subpixels displaying different colors. The plurality of subpixels may be formed by the intersection of n (n is a natural number) data lines (DL) and m (m is a natural number) scan lines (SL). A single unit pixel area may accommodate a pixel circuit for each of the plurality of subpixels. The pixel circuit may include a driving transistor, at least one switching transistor, and at least one capacitor to drive a light-emitting element for each of the plurality of subpixels.
[0079] For example, a single unit pixel area may include a red subpixel, a green subpixel, and a blue subpixel. Each of the red subpixel, the green subpixel, and the blue subpixel may receive a data signal containing grayscale information of red, green, or blue light from a data driver (322) and output light of the corresponding color.
[0080] Each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may include a 1st to 3rd subpixel. For example, the 1st subpixel may be a red subpixel, the 2nd subpixel may be a green subpixel, and the 3rd subpixel may be a blue subpixel, but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0081] A first subpixel may include a first aperture region (OR), a second subpixel may include a second aperture region (OG), and a third subpixel may include a third aperture region (OB). The first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) may be defined by a pixel defining film. Each of the first to third subpixels may have a light-emitting layer disposed in each of the first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) to emit light of a specific wavelength band. The size of each of the first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) may be adjusted to realize white light by mixing the light emitted from each of the plurality of light-emitting layers. The first to third subpixels may have aperture regions of different sizes to realize white light. For example, the size of the third aperture region (OB) may be larger than the size of the first or second aperture region (OR, OG), but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0082] The first aperture region (OR) and the second aperture region (OG) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel region to the 4-4 unit pixel region (UP11~UP44) may be arranged side by side on the upper left side of the third aperture region (OB). The first aperture region (OR) may be arranged on the upper right side of the second aperture region (OG). For example, the first aperture region (OR) may overlap with the corresponding unit pixel region to output red light.
[0083] A portion of the second aperture area (OG) may overlap with the corresponding unit pixel area, and another portion of the second aperture area (OG) may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the left of the corresponding unit area to output green light. For example, the pixel circuit of the second subpixel of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and a portion of the second aperture area (OG) may be placed within the first-second unit pixel area (UP12), and another portion of the second aperture area (OG) may overlap with the first-first unit pixel area (UP11).
[0084] A portion of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the corresponding unit pixel area, another portion of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the right of the corresponding unit pixel area, and the remaining portion of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the lower side of the corresponding unit pixel area to output blue light. For example, the pixel circuit of the third sub-pixel of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and a portion of the third aperture area (OB) may be placed within the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), another portion of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), and the remaining portion of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21).
[0085] In this way, a portion of the aperture area of at least one subpixel among the first to third subpixels may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the corresponding unit pixel area. A portion of at least one aperture area among the plurality of aperture areas (OR, OG, OB) of the subpixel may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the corresponding unit pixel area. Accordingly, the display device (10) can improve the image quality of the display device (10) by maximizing the aperture ratio of the unit pixel area.
[0086] The first and second opening regions (OR, OG) may be positioned between the extensions of both sides of the third opening region (OB). For example, the first and second opening regions (OR, OG) may be positioned parallel to each other between the extensions of the lower-left and upper-right sides of the third opening region (OB). The long side of each of the first and second opening regions (OR, OG) may be parallel to the extensions of the lower-left and upper-right sides of the third opening region (OB). One side of the third opening region (OB) may face the short side of each of the first and second opening regions (OR, OG).
[0087] For example, the third opening area (OB) may be a square, and the first and second opening areas (OR, OG) may be rectangles smaller than the third opening area (OB), but are not necessarily limited thereto.
[0088] The distance (Lr) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR) of the 3-2 unit pixel area (UP32) may be the same as the distance (Lr) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR) of the 4-1 unit pixel area (UP41) (Lr=Lr). Accordingly, the first aperture areas (OR) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) are arranged at uniform intervals, thereby enabling uniform image quality.
[0089] The distance (Lg) between the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG) of the third-3 unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG) of the third-4 unit pixel area (UP34) may be the same as the distance (Lg) between the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG) of the third-3 unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG) of the fourth-3 unit pixel area (UP43) (Lg=Lg). Therefore, the second aperture regions (OG) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) are arranged at uniform intervals, thereby enabling uniform image quality.
[0090] The distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB) of the first-4 unit pixel area (UP14) may be the same as the distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB) of the second-3 unit pixel area (UP23) (Lb=Lb). Accordingly, the third aperture areas (OB) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) are arranged at uniform intervals, thereby enabling uniform image quality.
[0091] One side of the aperture area (OR, OG, OB) of at least one of the first to third subpixels may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle. The first aperture area (OR) and the scan line (SL) may intersect at a first angle (θ1) that is neither horizontal nor vertical, the second aperture area (OG) and the scan line (SL) may intersect at a second angle (θ2), and the third aperture area (OB) and the scan line (SL) may intersect at a third angle (θ3). For example, the plane angle (e.g., θ1, θ2, or θ3) between one side of the aperture area of at least one of the first to third aperture areas (OR, OG, OB) and the scan line (SL) may be 45 degrees. The long and short sides of the first opening area (OR) and the second opening area (OG) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a 45-degree angle, and one side of the third opening area (OB) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a 45-degree angle.
[0092] In this way, one side of each of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of the plurality of subpixels and the scan line (SL) may intersect each other in a staggered manner on a plane. For example, one side of each of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of the plurality of subpixels may not be parallel to the scan line (SL) on a plane, and may not intersect the scan line (SL) at a right angle on a plane. Accordingly, the display device (10) can minimize external light reflected at the boundaries of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) (for example, between the pixel defining film and the aperture region).
[0093] FIG. 6 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment. The plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 6 differ from the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 5 in the arrangement of the first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB), and configurations identical to the above-described configuration will be briefly described or omitted.
[0094] Referring to FIG. 6, the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) and the second aperture area (OG1, OG2) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may be arranged side by side on the lower left side of the third aperture area (OB1, OB2). The first aperture area (OR1) of the 1-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may be arranged on the upper left side of the second aperture area (OG1) of the 1-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and the first aperture area (OR2) of the 1-2 unit pixel area (UP12) may be arranged on the lower left side of the second aperture area (OG2) of the 1-2 unit pixel area (UP12). The arrangement structure of the 1-1 to 3 aperture areas (OR, OG, OB) may be arranged regularly by grouping two adjacent unit pixel areas into one.
[0095] The first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) is positioned within the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and can output red light. The pixel circuit of the first subpixel of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) and a part of the first aperture area (OR2) can be positioned within the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), and another part of the first aperture area (OR2) can overlap with the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22).
[0096] A pixel circuit of a second subpixel of a first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and a part of a second aperture area (OG1) may be placed within the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and another part of the second aperture area (OG1) may overlap with the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21). The second aperture area (OG2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) is placed within the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) and can output green light.
[0097] A pixel circuit of a third subpixel of a second-1 unit pixel area (UP21) and a part of a third aperture area (OB) may be placed within the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21), another part of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and the remaining part of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22).
[0098] In this way, a portion of the aperture area of at least one subpixel among the first to third subpixels may overlap with the unit pixel area adjacent to the corresponding unit pixel area.
[0099] The first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may be positioned between the extensions of both sides of the third aperture region (OB1). For example, the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) may be positioned parallel to each other between the extensions of the upper-left and lower-right sides of the third aperture region (OB1). The long side of each of the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) may be parallel to the extensions of the upper-left and lower-right sides of the third aperture region (OB1). One side of the third aperture region (OB1) may face the short side of each of the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1).
[0100] The first and second aperture regions (OR2, OG2) of the first-second unit pixel region (UP12) may be positioned between the extensions of both sides of the third aperture region (OB2). For example, the first and second aperture regions (OR2, OG2) may be positioned parallel to each other between the extensions of the upper-left and lower-right sides of the third aperture region (OB2). The long side of each of the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) may be parallel to the lower-left or upper-right side of the third aperture region (OB1).
[0101] For example, the third opening area (OB1, OB2) may be a square, and the first and second opening areas (OR1, OR2, OG1, OG2) may be rectangles smaller than the third opening area (OB1, OB2), but are not necessarily limited thereto.
[0102] The distance (Lr2) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR2) of the 3-2 unit pixel area (UP32) may be longer than the distance (Lr1) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 4-1 unit pixel area (UP41) (Lr2 > Lr1).
[0103] The first aperture area (OR1, OR2) can be regularly arranged by grouping two adjacent unit pixel areas into one. For example, the distance between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) may be the same as the distance between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the third-1 unit pixel area (UP31). Accordingly, the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) can achieve uniform image quality by regularly arranging two adjacent unit pixel areas into one group.
[0104] The distance (Lg2) between the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the third-third unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG2) of the third-fourth unit pixel area (UP34) may be longer than the distance (Lg1) between the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the third-third unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the fourth-third unit pixel area (UP43) (Lg2 > Lg1).
[0105] The second aperture region (OG1, OG2) can be regularly arranged by grouping two adjacent unit pixel regions into one. For example, the distance between the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) and the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG1) of the first-3 unit pixel region (UP13) may be the same as the distance between the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) and the center of gravity of the second aperture region (OG1) of the third-1 unit pixel region (UP31). Accordingly, the second aperture region (OG1, OG2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel region to the fourth-4 unit pixel region (UP11~UP44) can achieve uniform image quality by regularly arranging two adjacent unit pixel regions into one group.
[0106] The distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB2) of the first-4 unit pixel area (UP14) may be the same as the distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the second-3 unit pixel area (UP23) (Lb=Lb). Accordingly, the third aperture areas (OB1, OB2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) are arranged at uniform intervals, thereby enabling uniform image quality.
[0107] One side of the aperture area (OR, OG, OB) of at least one of the first to third subpixels may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle.
[0108] In this way, one side of each of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of the plurality of subpixels and the scan line (SL) may intersect each other in a staggered manner on a plane.
[0109] FIG. 7 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment. The plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 7 further include first and second spacers (S1, S2) in the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 6, and configurations identical to the above-described configuration will be briefly described or omitted.
[0110] Referring to FIG. 7, each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may include 1 to 3 subpixels.
[0111] The first subpixel of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may include a first aperture area (OR1), the second subpixel may include a second aperture area (OG1), and the third subpixel may include a third aperture area (OB1).
[0112] The first subpixel of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) may include a first aperture area (OR2), the second subpixel may include a second aperture area (OG2), and the third subpixel may include a third aperture area (OB2).
[0113] The first to third aperture areas (OR1 OG1 OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the first to third aperture areas (OR2, OG2, OB2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) can be arranged in the same way as the first to third aperture areas (OR1, OR2, OG1, OG2, OB1, OB2) shown in FIG. 6.
[0114] The first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may further include a first spacer (S1). The first spacer (S1) may be positioned between the first aperture area (OR1) and the third aperture area (OB1). For example, one end of the first spacer (S1) may be positioned between the first aperture area (OR1) and the third aperture area (OB1), and the other end of the first spacer (S1) may extend from the one end toward the upper left side.
[0115] The long side direction of the first spacer (S1) may be perpendicular to the long side direction of the first aperture area (OR1) or the second aperture area (OG1). The first spacer (S1) can mitigate the impact transmitted to the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and improve the durability of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11).
[0116] The first-second unit pixel area (UP12) may further include a second spacer (S2). The second spacer (S2) may be positioned on the upper-left side of the second aperture area (OG2) and the third aperture area (OB2). For example, one end of the second spacer (S2) may be positioned on the upper-left side of the second aperture area (OG2), and the other end of the second spacer (S2) may be positioned on the upper-left side of the third aperture area (OB2). Additionally, one end of the second spacer (S2) may be positioned between the second aperture area (OG2) of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-first unit pixel area (UP11).
[0117] The long side direction of the second spacer (S2) may be perpendicular to the long side direction of the first opening area (OR2) or the second opening area (OG2). The long side direction of the second spacer (S2) may be perpendicular to the long side direction of the first spacer (S1). The second spacer (S2) can mitigate the impact transmitted to the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and supplement the durability of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12).
[0118] The distance (Ls) between the center of gravity of the first spacer (S1) of the second-third unit pixel area (UP23) and the center of gravity of the second spacer (S2) of the second-fourth unit pixel area (UP24) may be the same as the distance (Ls) between the center of gravity of the first spacer (S1) of the second-third unit pixel area (UP23) and the center of gravity of the first spacer (S1) of the third-third unit pixel area (UP33) (Ls=Ls). The arrangement structure of the first and second spacers (S1, S2) may be arranged regularly by grouping two adjacent unit pixel areas into one. Accordingly, the first or second spacer (S1, S2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) can stably support the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) to improve the durability of the display device (10).
[0119] The long sides of the first and second spacers (S1, S2) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle that is neither horizontal nor vertical. The plane angle between the long side of the first or second spacer (S1, S2) and the scan line (SL) may be 45 degrees.
[0120] In this way, one side of each of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of the plurality of unit pixel regions and the scan line (SL) may intersect each other in a plane. The first or second spacer (S1, S2) of each of the plurality of unit pixel regions may intersect each other in a plane with the scan line (SL). Accordingly, the first and second spacers (S1, S2) can improve the durability and reliability of the display device (10) without reducing the aperture ratio of the first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB).
[0121] Figure 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along line I-I' of Figure 7.
[0122] Referring to FIG. 8, the display panel (300) may include a first substrate (SUB1), a buffer layer (BF), first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3), a gate insulating film (GI), an interlayer insulating film (ILD), a protective layer (PAS), first and second connecting electrodes (CE1, CE2), a planarization layer (OC), first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2), a pixel defining film (PDL), a first spacer (S1), an encapsulation layer (TFE), and a second substrate (SUB2).
[0123] The first substrate (SUB1) may be a base substrate and may be made of an insulating material such as a polymer resin. For example, the first substrate (SUB1) may be a rigid substrate. As another example, the first substrate (SUB1) may be a flexible substrate capable of bending, folding, rolling, etc. If the first substrate (SUB1) is a flexible substrate, it may be formed of polyimide (PI), but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0124] A buffer layer (BF) may be disposed on a first substrate (SUB1). The buffer layer (BF) may be made of an inorganic film capable of preventing the penetration of air or moisture. For example, the buffer layer (BF) may include a plurality of inorganic films stacked alternately. The buffer layer (BF) may be made of a multilayer film in which at least one inorganic film among a silicon nitride layer, a silicon oxynitride layer, a silicon oxide layer, a titanium oxide layer, and an aluminum oxide layer is stacked alternately, but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0125] The first transistor (T1) may be placed on a buffer layer (BF) and may form a pixel circuit of the first subpixel. For example, the first transistor (T1) may be a driving transistor or a switching transistor of the first subpixel. The first transistor (T1) may include a semiconductor layer (ACT1), a gate electrode (GE1), a source electrode (SE1), and a drain electrode (DE1).
[0126] A semiconductor layer (ACT1) may be provided on a buffer layer (BF). The semiconductor layer (ACT1) may overlap with a gate electrode (GE1), a source electrode (SE1), and a drain electrode (DE1). The semiconductor layer (ACT1) may be in direct contact with the source electrode (SE1) and the drain electrode (DE1), and may face the gate electrode (GE1) with a gate insulating film (GI) in between.
[0127] The gate electrode (GE1) can be placed on top of the gate insulating film (GI). The gate electrode (GE1) can be overlapped with the semiconductor layer (ACT1) with the gate insulating film (GI) in between.
[0128] The source electrode (SE1) and the drain electrode (DE1) may be spaced apart from each other on the interlayer insulating film (ILD). The source electrode (SE1) may be in contact with one end of the semiconductor layer (ACT1) through a contact hole provided in the gate insulating film (GI) and the interlayer insulating film (ILD). The drain electrode (DE1) may be in contact with the other end of the semiconductor layer (ACT1) through a contact hole provided in the gate insulating film (GI) and the interlayer insulating film (ILD). The drain electrode (DE1) may be connected to the anode electrode (AND1) of the first light-emitting element (EL1) through the first connecting electrode (CE1).
[0129] The second transistor (T2) may be placed on the buffer layer (BF) and may form a pixel circuit of the second subpixel. For example, the second transistor (T2) may be a driving transistor or a switching transistor of the second subpixel. The second transistor (T2) may include a semiconductor layer (ACT2), a gate electrode (GE2), a source electrode (SE2), and a drain electrode (DE2).
[0130] The third transistor (T3) may be placed on the buffer layer (BF) and may form a pixel circuit of the third subpixel. For example, the third transistor (T3) may be a driving transistor or a switching transistor of the third subpixel. The third transistor (T3) may include a semiconductor layer (ACT3), a gate electrode (GE3), a source electrode (SE3), and a drain electrode (DE3). The drain electrode (DE3) of the third transistor (T3) may be connected to the anode electrode (AND2) of the second light-emitting element (EL2) through the second connection electrode (CE2).
[0131] A gate insulating film (GI) can be provided on top of semiconductor layers (ACT1, ACT2, ACT3). For example, the gate insulating film (GI) can be placed on top of semiconductor layers (ACT1, ACT2, ACT3) and a back plane (BP), and can insulate the semiconductor layers (ACT1, ACT2, ACT3) from the gate electrodes (GE1, GE2, GE3). The gate insulating film (GI) may include a contact hole through which source electrodes (SE1, SE2, SE3) pass and a contact hole through which drain electrodes (DE1, DE2, DE3) pass.
[0132] An interlayer insulating film (ILD) may be placed on top of gate electrodes (GE1, GE2, GE3). For example, the interlayer insulating film (ILD) may include a contact hole through which source electrodes (SE1, SE2, SE3) pass and a contact hole through which drain electrodes (DE1, DE2, DE3) pass. Here, the contact hole of the interlayer insulating film (ILD) may be connected to the contact hole of the gate insulating film (GI).
[0133] A protective layer (PAS) is provided on top of the first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3) to protect the first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3). For example, the protective layer (PAS) may include a contact hole through which the first and second connecting electrodes (CE1, CE2) pass.
[0134] A flattening layer (OC) is provided on top of a protective layer (PAS) to flatten the top of the first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3). For example, the flattening layer (OC) may include a contact hole through which the anode electrodes (AND1, AND2) of the first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2) pass.
[0135] A first light-emitting element (EL1) may be provided on a first transistor (T1). The first light-emitting element (EL1) may include an anode electrode (AND1), a light-emitting layer (E1), and a cathode electrode (CAT).
[0136] The anode electrode (AND1) may be provided on top of the planarization layer (OC). For example, the anode electrode (AND1) may be positioned to overlap with a first aperture region (OR) defined by a pixel defining film (PDL). Additionally, the anode electrode (AND1) may be connected to the drain electrode (DE1) of the first transistor (T1) through a first connection electrode (CE1).
[0137] A light-emitting layer (E1) may be provided on the upper part of an anode electrode (AND1). The light-emitting layer (E1) may include a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, a light-receiving layer, an electron blocking layer, an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, etc. For example, the light-emitting layer (E1) may be an organic light-emitting layer made of an organic material, but is not necessarily limited thereto. When the light-emitting layer (E1) corresponds to an organic light-emitting layer, the first transistor (T1) applies a predetermined voltage to the anode electrode (AND1) of the first light-emitting element (EL1), and when the cathode electrode (CAT) of the first light-emitting element (EL1) receives a common voltage or a cathode voltage, holes and electrons can each move to the organic light-emitting layer (E1) through the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer, and the holes and electrons can combine with each other in the organic light-emitting layer (E1) to emit light.
[0138] A cathode electrode (CAT) can be provided on top of the light-emitting layer (E1). For example, the cathode electrode (CAT) can be implemented in the form of an electrode common to all subpixels (SP) without being separated by subpixel (SP). In FIGS. 7 and 8, the cathode electrode (CAT) can be placed on the light-emitting layer (E1, E2) in the aperture region (OR, OG, OB) and on the pixel defining film (PDL) or spacer (S1, S2) in the non-aperture region.
[0139] A second light-emitting element (EL2) may be provided on a third transistor (T3). The second light-emitting element (EL2) may include an anode electrode (AND2), a light-emitting layer (E2), and a cathode electrode (CAT).
[0140] The anode electrode (AND2) can be provided on top of the planarization layer (OC). For example, the anode electrode (AND2) can be positioned to overlap with the third aperture region (OB) defined by the pixel defining film (PDL). Additionally, the anode electrode (AND2) can be connected to the drain electrode (DE3) of the third transistor (T3) through the second connection electrode (CE2). The light-emitting layer (E2) can be provided on top of the anode electrode (AND2), and the cathode electrode (CAT) can be provided on top of the light-emitting layer (E2).
[0141] The pixel defining film (PDL) can define first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB). The pixel defining film (PDL) can separate and insulate the anode electrodes (AND1, AND2) of the first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2), respectively.
[0142] For example, the pixel defining layer (PDL) may include a light-absorbing material, such as a black pigment or black dye, that absorbs light. By including a light-absorbing material, the pixel defining layer (PDL) can minimize external light reflected at the boundaries of the aperture area.
[0143] The first spacer (S1) can be placed on the pixel defining film (PDL). The first spacer (S1) can maintain a constant gap between the first substrate (SUB1) and the second substrate (SUB2). The first spacer (S1) can mitigate shock transmission between the first substrate (SUB1) and the second substrate (SUB2). For example, the first spacer (S1) may include a material with excellent shock absorption and flexibility to complement the durability of the display device (10).
[0144] The encapsulation layer (TFE) is placed on the cathode electrode (CAT) and can cover the first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3) and the first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2). The encapsulation layer (TFE) can prevent oxygen or moisture from penetrating into the first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2).
[0145] The second substrate (SUB2) may be placed on the encapsulation layer (TFE) and face the first substrate (SUB1). The second substrate (SUB2) may block the first to third transistors (T1, T2, T3) and the first and second light-emitting elements (EL1, EL2) from external moisture, air, etc. The second substrate (SUB2) may be supported by the first spacer (S1). For example, the second substrate (SUB2) may be a rigid substrate. As another example, the second substrate (SUB2) may be a flexible substrate capable of bending, folding, rolling, etc. If the second substrate (SUB2) is a flexible substrate, it may be formed of polyimide (PI), but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0146] FIG. 9 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel areas of a display device according to another embodiment, and FIG. 10 is an enlarged view of the plurality of unit pixel areas of FIG. 9.
[0147] Referring to FIGS. 9 and 10, the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) and the second aperture area (OG1, OG2) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may be arranged side by side on the lower left side of the third aperture area (OB1, OB2).
[0148] The first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) is positioned within the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and can output red light. The pixel circuit of the first subpixel of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) and a part of the first aperture area (OR2) can be positioned within the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), another part of the first aperture area (OR2) can overlap with the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and the remaining part of the first aperture area (OR2) can overlap with the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22).
[0149] The first aperture region (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may include a center (OR1a) and first to third protrusions (OR1b, OR1c, OR1d). The first protrusion (OR1b) may protrude from the center (OR1a) toward the upper left. The second protrusion (OR1c) may protrude from the center (OR1a) toward the third aperture region (OB1). The third protrusion (OR1d) may protrude from the center (OR1a) in the opposite direction to the second protrusion (OR1c).
[0150] The first aperture area (OR2) of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) may include a center (OR2a) and first to third protrusions (OR2b, OR2c, OR2d). The first protrusion (OR2b) may protrude from the center (OR2a) toward the lower left. The second protrusion (OR2c) may protrude from the center (OR2a) toward the upper left. The third protrusion (OR2d) may protrude from the center (OR2a) in the opposite direction to the second protrusion (OR2c).
[0151] A pixel circuit of a second subpixel of a first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and a part of a second aperture area (OG1) may be placed within the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and another part of the second aperture area (OG1) may overlap with the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21). The second aperture area (OG2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) is placed within the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) and can output green light.
[0152] The second aperture region (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may include a center (OG1a) and first to third protrusions (OG1b, OG1c, OG1d). The first protrusion (OG1b) may protrude to the lower right from the center (OG1a). The second protrusion (OG1c) may protrude from the center (OG1a) toward the third aperture region (OB1). The third protrusion (OG1d) may protrude from the center (OG1a) in the opposite direction to the second protrusion (OG1c).
[0153] The second aperture region (OG2) of the first-second unit pixel region (UP12) may include a center (OG2a) and first to third protrusions (OG2b, OG2c, OG2d). The first protrusion (OG2b) may protrude from the center (OG2a) toward the upper right. The second protrusion (OG2c) may protrude from the center (OG2a) toward the upper left. The third protrusion (OG2d) may protrude from the center (OG2a) in the opposite direction to the second protrusion (OG2c).
[0154] A pixel circuit of a third subpixel of a second-1 unit pixel area (UP21) and a part of a third aperture area (OB) may be placed within the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21), another part of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and the remaining part of the third aperture area (OB) may overlap with the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22).
[0155] The third aperture region (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may include a center (OB1a) and first to fourth protrusions (OB1b, OB1c, OB1d, OB1e). The first protrusion (OB1b) may protrude from the center (OB1a) toward the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1). The second protrusion (OB1c) may protrude from the center (OB1a) toward the lower right side. The third protrusion (OB1d) may protrude from the center (OB1a) in the opposite direction of the first protrusion (OB1b). The fourth protrusion (OB1e) may protrude from the center (OB1a) in the opposite direction of the second protrusion (OB1c).
[0156] The third aperture region (OB2) of the first-second unit pixel region (UP12) may include a center (OB2a) and first to fourth protrusions (OB2b, OB2c, OB2d, OB2e). The first protrusion (OB2b) may protrude from the center (OB2a) toward the second aperture region (OG2). The second protrusion (OB2c) may protrude from the center (OB2a) toward the lower right side. The third protrusion (OB2d) may protrude from the center (OB2a) in the opposite direction of the first protrusion (OB2b). The fourth protrusion (OB2e) may protrude from the center (OB2a) in the opposite direction of the second protrusion (OB2c).
[0157] In this way, the first aperture region (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) includes a center (OR1a) and first to third protrusions (OR1b, OR1c, OR1d), and the second aperture region (OG1) includes a center (OG1a) and first to third protrusions (OG1b, OG1c, OG1d), and by including a center (OB1a) and first to fourth protrusions (OB1b, OB1c, OB1d, OB1e), the aperture ratio of the unit pixel region can be maximized. In addition, a portion of at least one aperture region among the plurality of aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of the sub-pixel may extend beyond the corresponding unit pixel region and overlap with an adjacent unit pixel region. Accordingly, the display device (10) can improve the image quality of the display device (10) by maximizing the aperture ratio of the unit pixel region.
[0158] The first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG2) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may be positioned between the extension lines of the third aperture region (OB1). For example, the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) may be positioned parallel to each other between the extension lines of the upper-left and lower-right sides of the third aperture region (OB1). The long side of each of the first and second aperture regions (OR1, OG1) may be parallel to the extension lines of the upper-left and lower-right sides of the third aperture region (OB1). The first protrusion (OB1b) of the third aperture region (OB1) may face the second protrusion (OR1c) of the first aperture region (OR1) and the second protrusion (OG1c) of the second aperture region (OG1).
[0159] For example, the center (OB1a) of the third opening area (OB1) may be a square, and the center (OR1a, OG1a) of the first and second opening areas (OR1, OG1) may be a rectangle smaller than the center (OB1a) of the third opening area (OB1), but is not necessarily limited thereto.
[0160] The first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may further include first and second spacers (S1, S2). The first spacer (S1) may be positioned above the first aperture area (OR1) and to the left of the third aperture area (OB1). The second spacer (S2) may be positioned to the right of the second aperture area (OG1) and to the lower of the third aperture area (OB1). The first and second spacers (S1, S2) are spaced apart from each other with the first to third aperture areas (OR1, OG1, OB1) in between, thereby stably supporting the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and improving durability.
[0161] The first-second unit pixel area (UP12) may further include third and fourth spacers (S3, S4). The third spacer (S3) may be positioned above the second aperture area (OG2) and to the left of the third aperture area (OB2). The fourth spacer (S4) may be positioned to the right of the second aperture area (OG2) and to the lower of the third aperture area (OB2). The third and fourth spacers (S3, S4) are spaced apart from each other with the first to third aperture areas (OR2, OG2, OB2) in between, thereby stably supporting the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and improving durability.
[0162] The distance (Lr2) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR2) of the 3-2 unit pixel area (UP32) may be longer than the distance (Lr1) between the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 3-1 unit pixel area (UP31) and the center of gravity of the first aperture area (OR1) of the 4-1 unit pixel area (UP41) (Lr2 > Lr1).
[0163] The first aperture area (OR1, OR2) can be regularly arranged by grouping two adjacent unit pixel areas into one.
[0164] The distance (Lg2) between the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the third-third unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG2) of the third-fourth unit pixel area (UP34) may be longer than the distance (Lg1) between the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the third-third unit pixel area (UP33) and the center of gravity of the second aperture area (OG1) of the fourth-third unit pixel area (UP43) (Lg2 > Lg1).
[0165] The second aperture region (OG1, OG2) can be regularly arranged by grouping two adjacent unit pixel regions into one.
[0166] The distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB2) of the first-4 unit pixel area (UP14) may be the same as the distance (Lb) between the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13) and the center of gravity of the third aperture area (OB1) of the second-3 unit pixel area (UP23) (Lb=Lb). Accordingly, the third aperture areas (OB1, OB2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) are arranged at uniform intervals, thereby enabling uniform image quality.
[0167] The distance (Ls) between the center of gravity of the third spacer (S3) of the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22) and the center of gravity of the first spacer (S1) of the second-3 unit pixel area (UP23) may be the same as the distance (Ls) between the center of gravity of the third spacer (S3) of the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22) and the center of gravity of the third spacer (S3) of the third-2 unit pixel area (UP32) (Ls=Ls). The first to fourth spacers (S1, S2, S3, S4) are arranged at uniform intervals to stably support the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) and improve the durability of the display device (10).
[0168] One side of the aperture area (OR, OG, OB) of at least one of the first to third subpixels may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle. The long side of the center (OR1a, OR2a) of the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle that is neither horizontal nor vertical. The long side of the center (OG1a, OG2a) of the second aperture area (OG1, OG2) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle that is neither horizontal nor vertical. One side of the center (OB1a, OB2a) of the third aperture area (OB1, OB2) may intersect the scan line (SL) at a predetermined angle that is neither horizontal nor vertical.
[0169] In this way, one side of each of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of a plurality of subpixels may not be parallel to the scan line (SL) on a plane and may not intersect the scan line (SL) at a right angle on a plane. Accordingly, the display device (10) can minimize external light reflected at the boundaries of the aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) (e.g., between the pixel defining film and the aperture region).
[0170] FIG. 11 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment, and FIG. 12 is an enlarged view of the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 11. The plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 11 and FIG. 12 differ from the configuration of the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 7 and the third aperture regions (OB1, OB2), and configurations identical to the aforementioned configurations will be briefly described or omitted.
[0171] Referring to FIGS. 11 and 12, the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) and the second aperture area (OG1, OG2) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may be arranged side by side on the lower left side of the third aperture area (OB1, OB2).
[0172] The third opening region (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may include a center (OB1a) and a protrusion (OB1b) protruding downward from the lower edge of the center (OB1a). One end of the protrusion (OB1b) of the third opening region (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11) may face the second opening region (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel region (UP11), and the other end perpendicular to the end of the protrusion (OB1b) of the third opening region (OB1) may face the first opening region (OR2) of the first-2 unit pixel region (UP12).
[0173] In this way, the third aperture region (OB1, OB2) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel region to the 4-4 unit pixel region (UP11~UP44) includes a central part (OB1a, OB2a) and a protrusion (OB1b, OB2b), thereby maximizing the aperture ratio of the unit pixel region.
[0174] For example, the center (OB1a) of the third opening area (OB1) may be a square, and the first and second opening areas (OR1, OG1) may be rectangles smaller than the center (OB1a) of the third opening area (OB1), but are not necessarily limited thereto.
[0175] The first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may further include a first spacer (S1). The first spacer (S1) may be positioned between the first aperture area (OR1) and the third aperture area (OB1). For example, the first spacer (S1) may be surrounded by the first aperture area (OR1), one end of the protrusion (OB1b) of the third aperture area (OB1), and the left corner of the third aperture area (OB1). The first spacer (S1) may mitigate impact transmitted to the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11).
[0176] The first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) may further include a second spacer (S2). The second spacer (S2) may be positioned on the upper left side of the second aperture area (OG2) and the third aperture area (OB2). For example, the second spacer (S2) may be surrounded by the right corner of the center (OB1a) of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), the other end of the protrusion (OB1b) of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), the second aperture area (OG2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), and the left corner of the center (OB2a) of the third aperture area (OB2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12). The second spacer (S2) may mitigate impact transmitted to the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12).
[0177] FIG. 13 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment. The plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 13 differ from the configuration of the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 7, the third aperture region (OB1, OB2), and the first and second spacers (S1, S2), and configurations identical to the aforementioned configurations will be briefly described or omitted.
[0178] Referring to FIG. 13, the first aperture area (OR1, OR2) and the second aperture area (OG1, OG2) of each of the first-1 unit pixel area to the fourth-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) may be arranged side by side on the lower left side of the third aperture area (OB1, OB2). The first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may be arranged on the upper left side of the second aperture area (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), and the first aperture area (OR2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) may be arranged on the lower left side of the second aperture area (OG2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12). The arrangement structure of the first to third aperture areas (OR, OG, OB) may be arranged regularly by grouping two adjacent unit pixel areas into one.
[0179] The third aperture area (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may include one end (OB1a) extending toward the upper left from the center of gravity, and the other end (OB1b) extending toward the upper right from the center of gravity. The first and second aperture areas (OR1, OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) may be positioned on the lower left side of the one end (OB1a) of the third aperture area (OB1), and the first and second aperture areas (OR2, OG2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12) may be positioned on the lower right side of the other end (OB1b) of the third aperture area (OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11).
[0180] In this way, the third aperture area (OB1, OB2) of each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 4-4 unit pixel area (UP11~UP44) includes one end (OB1a, OB2a) and the other end (OB1b, OB2b), thereby maximizing the aperture ratio of the unit pixel area.
[0181] The second-1 unit pixel area (UP21) may further include a first spacer (S1). The first spacer (S1) of the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21) may be surrounded by the second and third aperture areas (OG1, OB1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11), the first aperture area (OR2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), and the third aperture area (OB1) of the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21). The first spacer (S1) may mitigate impact transmitted to the second-1 unit pixel area (UP21).
[0182] The second-2 unit pixel area (UP22) may further include a second spacer (S2). The second spacer (S2) of the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22) may be surrounded by the second and third aperture areas (OG2, OB2) of the first-2 unit pixel area (UP12), the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-3 unit pixel area (UP13), and the third aperture area (OB2) of the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22). The second spacer (S2) may mitigate impact transmitted to the second-2 unit pixel area (UP22).
[0183] FIG. 14 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment, and FIG. 15 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment. FIG. 16 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment, and FIG. 17 is a plan view showing a plurality of unit pixel regions of a display device according to another embodiment. The plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 14 to FIG. 17 differ from the plurality of unit pixel regions of FIG. 5 in that the slopes of the first to third aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) are different, and configurations identical to the configuration described above will be briefly explained or omitted.
[0184] Referring to FIGS. 14 to 17, each of the 1-1 unit pixel area to the 2-2 unit pixel area (UP11 to UP22) may include 1 to 3 subpixels.
[0185] In FIG. 14, the plane angle (θ1) between the long side of the first opening area (OR) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees. The plane angle (θ2) between the long side of the second opening area (OG) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees. The plane angle (θ3) between one side of the third opening area (OB) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees.
[0186] In FIG. 15, the plane angle (θ1) between the long side of the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees. The plane angle (θ2) between the long side of the second aperture area (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees. The plane angle (θ3) between one side of the third aperture area (OB) and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees.
[0187] The plane angle (θ4) between the long side of the first aperture area (OR2) of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees. The plane angle (θ5) between the long side of the second aperture area (OG2) of the first-second unit pixel area (UP12) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees.
[0188] In FIG. 16, the plane angle (θ1) between the long side of the first opening area (OR) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees. The plane angle (θ2) between the long side of the second opening area (OG) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees. The plane angle (θ3) between one side of the third opening area (OB) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees.
[0189] In FIG. 17, the plane angle (θ1) between the long side of the first aperture area (OR1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees. The plane angle (θ2) between the long side of the second aperture area (OG1) of the first-1 unit pixel area (UP11) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees. The plane angle (θ3) between one side of the third aperture area (OB) and the scan line (SL) may be 60 degrees.

[0193] Here, Structure 1 represents a display device in which a plurality of aperture regions are arranged only within a corresponding unit pixel region. Unlike the display device according to the present application, the plurality of aperture regions of Structure 1 do not have a portion of the aperture region extending beyond the corresponding unit pixel region and overlapping with an adjacent unit pixel region. The intersection angle between the plurality of aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) of Structure 1 and the scan line (SL) may be 30 degrees. Structure 2 represents a display device in which the intersection angle between the plurality of aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) and the scan line (SL) is 30 degrees. For example, Structure 2 may be the display device (10) shown in FIG. 14 or FIG. 15.
[0194] Structure 3 represents a display device in which the intersection angle of a plurality of opening regions (OR, OG, OB) and a scan line (SL) is 45 degrees. For example, Structure 3 may be the display device (10) shown in FIG. 5 or FIG. 6.
[0195] Structure 4 represents a display device in which the intersection angle of a plurality of opening regions (OR, OG, OB) and a scan line (SL) is 60 degrees. For example, Structure 4 may be the display device (10) shown in FIG. 16 or FIG. 17.
[0196] Accordingly, the second to fourth structures (Structure 2, Structure 3, Structure 4) according to the present application may have a higher aperture ratio than the first structure (Structure 1) when the gap of the pixel defining film (PDL) is 23 µm or 20 µm. Accordingly, the display device (10) can improve the image quality of the display device (10) by maximizing the aperture ratio of the unit pixel area, as a part of at least one aperture area among a plurality of aperture areas (OR, OG, OB) extends beyond the corresponding unit pixel area and overlaps with an adjacent unit pixel area.
[0197] Referring to FIGS. 5 and FIGS. 6, a plurality of unit pixel areas of the display device (10) may have reflected light as shown in [Table 2] below.
[0198] 반사광(nit) Structure 5 660 Structure 6 154 Structure 7 78
[0199] Here, Structure 5 represents a display device in which one side of a plurality of opening regions is arranged horizontally or vertically with respect to a scan line (SL). Unlike the display device according to the present application, the plurality of opening regions of Structure 5 do not intersect the scan line (SL) at an angle that is not vertical or horizontal in a plane. Structure 6 represents a display device in which the intersection angle between a plurality of opening regions (OR, OG, OB) and the scan line (SL) is 45 degrees. For example, Structure 6 may be the display device (10) shown in FIG. 5 or FIG. 6.
[0200] Structure 7 represents a display device in which the intersection angle of a plurality of aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) and a scan line (SL) is 45 degrees, and the pixel defining film (PDL) includes a light-absorbing material.
[0201] Accordingly, Structure 6 of the present application can minimize external light reflected at the boundaries of the aperture regions because the plurality of aperture regions (OR, OG, OB) are not parallel to the scan line (SL) and do not intersect at right angles. Additionally, Structure 7 of the present application can further reduce the amount of external light reflected by further including a light-absorbing material in Structure 6.
[0202] FIG. 18 is a drawing showing an example of a display device according to one embodiment applied to a vehicle, and FIG. 19 is a drawing showing another example of a display device according to one embodiment applied to a vehicle.
[0203] Referring to FIGS. 18 and 19, the display device can be used as a display device (10a) applied to the instrument panel of a vehicle, a display device (10b) applied to the center fascia of a vehicle, and a display device (10c) placed on the back of the front seat for entertainment in the rear seat of a vehicle.
[0204] The display device (10a, 10b, 10c) according to the present application can improve visibility and reliability by minimizing external light (L1, L2, L3) reflected at the boundary of the aperture area and maximizing the aperture ratio of each of the plurality of subpixels.
[0205] Although embodiments of the present invention have been described above with reference to the attached drawings, those skilled in the art will understand that the present invention may be implemented in other specific forms without changing the technical concept or essential features thereof. Therefore, the embodiments described above should be understood as illustrative in all respects and not restrictive. Explanation of the symbols
