Abstract
Description
Technology Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a battery storage and fire extinguishing control system, and more specifically, to an automated battery storage and fire extinguishing control system that constructs a firewall to partition a storage space by storing batteries on a storage shelf pallet rack using a plurality of protective insulating materials, detects the temperature and smoke conditions of batteries stored within the storage chamber partitioned by the protective insulating materials in real time to monitor the battery status and whether a fire has occurred, and in the event of a fire, sprays a battery extinguishing agent into the storage chamber where the fire occurred to rapidly suppress the fire. Background Technology
[0002] Research on electric vehicles is actively underway as they are considered the most promising alternative for solving future automotive pollution and energy problems.
[0003] An electric vehicle (EV) is a vehicle that obtains power by driving an AC or DC motor primarily using power from a battery. It is broadly classified into battery-only EVs and hybrid EVs. Battery-only EVs use battery power to drive the motor and recharge when the power is depleted, whereas hybrid EVs generate electricity by operating the engine to charge the battery, and then use this electricity to drive the electric motor and move the vehicle.
[0004] Recently, a technology has been developed to reuse batteries that have reached the end of their lifespan (based on SOH 80%) in electric vehicles for economic and environmental purposes, such as ESS (Energy Storage System), electric excavators, electric wheelchairs, and household use.
[0005] As the electric vehicle market expands rapidly, it is predicted that there will be an explosive increase in the number of waste batteries resulting from accidents, breakdowns, recalls, or the expiration of their standard lifespan. These waste batteries need to be transported to a designated location for storage to facilitate future utilization or safe dismantling.
[0006] However, waste batteries contain high-density electrical energy and highly flammable electrolytes, making them vulnerable to fire and explosion accidents during transportation and storage. Furthermore, due to their explosive combustion characteristics, fire suppression is extremely difficult, and there is a risk that unextinguished fires will spread to the surrounding area and escalate into large-scale blazes. [0022] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, a battery automated storage and fire extinguishing control system according to an embodiment of the present invention is configured to store batteries including waste batteries and automatically extinguish a fire when it occurs. The system comprises a storage shelf (100) in which a plurality of storage chambers (120) for storing batteries (B) are arranged in a plurality of rows and columns vertically and horizontally; a temperature sensor (210) installed in each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100) to detect temperature; a smoke sensor (230) installed in each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100) to detect smoke; a light-emitting display module (500) for displaying the status of the batteries (B) stored in each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100); a fire extinguishing module (400) that moves to the storage chamber (120) containing the battery (B) that has caught fire and sprays a fire extinguishing agent; and a system that monitors the temperature status and whether a fire has occurred in the storage chambers (120) and, when a fire occurs, the It includes a control unit (300) that operates the fire extinguishing module (400) by inputting a control command to the fire extinguishing module (400).
[0023] The battery automation storage and fire extinguishing control system of the present invention may further include a pressure sensor (220) installed on the bottom surface of each storage chamber of the storage shelf (100), and a plurality of RFID antennas (600) that recognize a unique identifier (ID) of a battery (B) stored in each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100).
[0024] As illustrated in FIG. 1, the storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100) is formed in the shape of a rectangular prism with an open front surface by a plurality of protective insulation materials (110), and can be arranged in rows and columns of n × m in the horizontal and vertical directions. The plurality of protective insulation materials (110) are made of rectangular panels having non-combustible or flame-retardant properties, and are connected horizontally and vertically to form five surfaces of the storage chamber (120): the bottom surface, both sides, the top surface, and the rear surface.
[0025] In order to increase the support strength of the storage shelf (100), the protective insulation material (110) can be combined with a frame structure such as a pallet rack that forms the frame of the storage shelf (100) by connecting a plurality of frames or angles horizontally and vertically.
[0026] Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4, the protective insulation material (110) constituting the storage shelf (100) has a structure in which a non-combustible board (113) containing expanded vermiculite is interposed between two metal plates (111, 112) with excellent heat resistance so as to effectively prevent the spread of fire occurring in the battery (B).
[0027] The above-mentioned fireproof board (113) is made of a composition comprising silicon dioxide (SiO2), magnesium oxide (MgO), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and iron (Fe2O3) as main components, and expanded vermiculite that has expanded 8 to 30 times at high temperatures. The expanded vermiculite of the above-mentioned fireproof board (113) expands due to high temperatures and forms countless pores. These pores have functions such as sound absorption, thermal insulation, deodorization, moisture absorption and release, antibacterial properties, and antifungal properties, and exhibit excellent fire resistance capable of withstanding ultra-high temperatures of 1300°C or higher for more than 2 hours.
[0028] In order to increase the physical properties, strength, and water resistance of expanded vermiculite, expanded vermiculite can be coated with a specific coating agent to produce a non-combustible board (113).
[0029] For example, raw vermiculite classified by particle size is introduced into a calcination facility and expanded by applying heat of 800°C to 1,100°C to produce expanded vermiculite, and then the expanded vermiculite is preheated to maintain a temperature of 100°C to 150°C, and then the preheated expanded vermiculite is supplied into a coating machine supplied with hot air of 200°C or higher, and under conditions where the temperature of the expanded vermiculite is maintained at 100°C to 150°C, the coating agent is gradually conveyed in a paddle manner and coated on all internal and external pores of the expanded vermiculite several times, and then rapidly cooled to room temperature to produce a non-combustible board (113) using the coated expanded vermiculite. Here, the coating agent may be composed of a composition including 30 to 80 parts by weight of sodium silicate, 80 to 150 parts by weight of water, 1 to 10 parts by weight of glycerin, 1 to 10 parts by weight of starch, and 1 to 10 parts by weight of sugar, based on 100 parts by weight of expanded vermiculite.
[0030] As these expanded vermiculites are coated with internal and external pores, the inherent properties of expanded vermiculite are improved, and the water resistance and strength can be increased by about 3 to 7 times.
[0031] Alternatively, a water-resistant coating agent may be sprayed onto the expanded vermiculite to impart water resistance to it, thereby making the expanded vermiculite water-resistant. The water-resistant coating agent may be a mixture of 2 to 3 parts by weight of polyvinyl alcohol and 10 to 15 parts by weight of aluminum sulfate mixed with 100 parts by weight of water.
[0032] In order to increase strength and fire resistance on the surface of expanded vermiculite with improved water resistance through such a water-resistant coating, a neutralizing agent mixed with 2 to 7 parts by weight of aluminum hydroxide and 15 to 20 parts by weight of sodium aluminate in 100 parts by weight of water can be sprayed to additionally form a curable coating layer.
[0033] Excellent physical properties and mechanical strength can be provided by mixing such coated expanded vermiculite and an inorganic binder, inserting them into a mold or compressing them, and then producing a non-combustible board (113) using a hot press method utilizing a heat medium or a heating method using high-frequency microwaves.
[0034] The metal plates (111, 112) are made of a metal with excellent heat resistance and are bonded to both sides of the non-combustible board (113) to protect the non-combustible board (113) from the outside and to increase the strength of the non-combustible board (113). Among the metal plates (111, 112), the metal plate (111) forming the inner surface of the storage chamber (120) has a plurality of through holes (114) and slits (115) formed therein, so that a humidity control effect and a leakage absorption effect of the battery (B) can be obtained by the non-combustible board (113).
[0035] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 6, the battery (B) is placed on a transport pallet (700) and transported, and can be stored in a storage chamber (120) together with the transport pallet (700) while placed on the transport pallet (700).
[0036] Components for temperature detection and fire detection are configured in the storage shelf (100) so that the temperature status and temperature changes of the battery (B) stored in the storage shelf (100) are monitored in real time to predict the occurrence of a fire, and if a fire occurs, the fire can be detected quickly and accurately and extinguished.
[0037] For example, on the upper surface of each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100), a temperature sensor (210) that detects the temperature of the battery (B) stored in the storage chamber (120) and transmits it to the control unit (300), and a smoke sensor (230) that detects smoke may be installed. Additionally, on the lower surface of each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100), a pressure sensor (220) that detects the presence or absence of the battery (B) inside the storage chamber (120) while being pressurized by the battery (B) and the transport pallet (700) contained inside the storage chamber (120) may be installed.
[0038] The temperature sensor (210) can be configured using a temperature sensor capable of detecting temperatures from 0 to 200°C. The smoke sensor (230) functions to detect fire together with the temperature sensor (210), thereby establishing a heat-smoke combined fire detection system, which enables rapid and accurate detection of a fire when it occurs, thereby allowing for the initial suppression of the fire. The smoke sensor (230) can be configured using a known smoke detection sensor.
[0039] An RFID antenna (600) that recognizes the identifier (ID) of a battery (B) stored in the storage chamber (120) and a light-emitting display module (500) that allows a person to visually recognize the temperature status of the battery (B) stored in the storage chamber (120), whether a fire has occurred, and whether the battery (B) is stored in the storage chamber (120) from the outside may be installed at the upper or lower front end of each storage chamber (120). The light-emitting display module (500) may be configured using LED elements that emit light of different colors depending on the temperature status of the battery (B), whether a fire has occurred, and whether the battery (B) is stored.
[0040] A communication interface (250) may be installed in each storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100) to transmit detection signals detected by each temperature sensor (210), smoke sensor (230), and pressure sensor (220) to a control unit (300) wirelessly or via wire.
[0041] The control unit (300) calculates the rate of change in temperature based on temperature data measured by the temperature sensor (210) to monitor the state of the battery (B) and determines whether a fire has occurred together with the smoke sensor (230). In addition, when a fire occurs, it inputs a control command to the fire extinguishing module (400) to operate the fire extinguishing module (400), thereby quickly suppressing the fire and preventing the spread of the fire.
[0042] The above control unit (300) may include: a transmitting / receiving module (310) that receives temperature, smoke, and pressure measurement signals measured by the temperature sensor (210), smoke sensor (230), and pressure sensor (220) and an identifier (ID) of the battery (B) recognized by the RFID antenna (600) through the communication interface (250), and transmits signals that control the light emission of LED elements of the light-emitting display module (500); an analysis module (320) that analyzes and determines the temperature status of the battery (B) and whether a fire has occurred based on the temperature data and smoke data received from the transmitting / receiving module (310); a fire control module (330) that controls the operation of the fire extinguishing module (400) when it is analyzed by the analysis module (320) that a fire has occurred; and an automatic fire alarm module (340) that quickly transmits fire occurrence information to a 119 control center or a manager's portable mobile communication terminal, etc., when a fire occurs.
[0043] In addition, the above control unit (300) may be equipped with various control components for real-time monitoring and control of status information of the battery (B) stored in the storage shelf (100) and fire occurrence information.
[0044] The above fire extinguishing module (400) is configured to be movable outside the storage shelf (100) rather than being integrally formed with the storage shelf (100), thereby having the advantage of being able to quickly extinguish a fire with a simple configuration.
[0045] For example, as illustrated in FIG. 7, the fire extinguishing module (400) comprises a main body (410) having a plurality of wheels (411) that roll along a floor surface, a driving unit (420) including a driving motor (421) installed on the main body (410) to drive the wheels (411) and a power transmission unit (422) that transmits the power of the driving motor (421) to the wheels (411), an agent supply unit (430) mounted on the main body (410), a nozzle mount member (460) installed to move up and down by a lifting motion unit (440) on the main body (410), a nozzle (470) installed to extend a certain distance forward on the nozzle mount member (460) to spray a fire extinguishing agent supplied through the agent supply unit (430) into a storage chamber (120), and the above by a control signal transmitted from the control unit (300). It may be configured to include a driving motor (421), a lifting motor (441) of the lifting motion unit (440), and a fire extinguishing controller (450) that controls the operation of the drug supply unit (430).
[0046] The power transmission unit (422) of the above-mentioned drive unit (420) can be configured by applying a known power transmission device such as a gear, or a pulley and belt, a chain and a chain sprocket.
[0047] The above agent supply unit (430) may include an agent storage tank (431) that stores water or a fire extinguishing agent (e.g., a fire extinguishing agent for a lithium-ion battery) and a solenoid-type control valve (432) that is electrically connected to and operates with the fire extinguishing controller (450) to control the discharge of the fire extinguishing agent through the outlet of the agent storage tank (431).
[0048] The above-mentioned fire extinguishing agent may be composed of a composition comprising an inorganic material including carbonates and phosphates, urea, a surfactant, a re-ignition inhibitor, and water. The re-ignition inhibitor of the fire extinguishing agent may include phenoxycyclophosphazene and alkyltrimethylammonium chloride, which prevents the aggregation or precipitation of phenoxycyclophosphazene. A fire extinguishing agent composed of such a composition can effectively suppress the initial fire of a lithium battery and prevent re-ignition, and has the advantage of being able to be stored for a long period of time as the aggregation or precipitation of the fire extinguishing agent is prevented.
[0049] The nozzle mount member (460) is installed to move up and down by means of a lifting motion member (440) installed to move up and down on the main body (410), and is configured to have a size corresponding to the open front surface of the storage chamber (120) so as to close the front surface of the storage chamber (120), thereby preventing flames and harmful gases from spreading outside the storage chamber (120) in the event of a fire in the battery, while simultaneously preventing air from entering the storage chamber (120) and preventing the extinguishing agent from being discharged outside, thereby providing a function for rapid extinguishing and prevention of fire spread.
[0050] A lifting motion unit (440) for moving the nozzle mount member (460) up and down may include a lifting motor (441) and a motion conversion unit that converts the rotational motion of the lifting motor (441) into linear motion in the up and down direction. The motion conversion unit may be configured by applying a known linear motion device, such as a ball screw and a nut part that moves in the axial direction of the ball screw by the rotation of the ball screw, or a chain that rotates by the lifting motor (441) and a chain sprocket wound around the chain, or a pinion gear that rotates by the lifting motor (441) and a rack gear that moves linearly by meshing with the pinion gear.
[0051] The nozzle (470) is installed so as to extend a certain distance from the front surface of the nozzle mount member (460), and rapidly suppresses the fire of the battery (B) by spraying a fire extinguishing agent supplied from the agent supply unit (430) into the storage chamber (120) when the nozzle mount member (460) closes the open front surface of the storage chamber (120) or is adjacent to the front surface. Although multiple nozzles (470) may be installed, they may also be installed as a single unit in the approximately central part. When the nozzle (470) is installed so as to extend a certain distance from the front surface of the nozzle mount member (460), when the non-combustible board (113) expands due to fire and expands into the storage chamber (120), a large amount of fire extinguishing agent can be smoothly sprayed into the inner space of the storage chamber (120) by passing through the expanded non-combustible board (113).
[0052] The fire extinguishing controller (450) controls the operation of the driving motor (421) and the lifting motor (441) of the lifting movement unit (440) by means of a control signal transmitted from the control unit (300), thereby moving the main body (410) and the nozzle mount member (460) horizontally and vertically, respectively, to the location of the storage chamber (120) where a fire has occurred, and controls the operation of the agent supply unit (430) to control the spraying of the fire extinguishing agent through the nozzle (470).
[0053] The battery automation storage and fire suppression control system configured in this way operates as follows.
[0054] When a separate transfer robot or operator places a battery (B) into a storage chamber (120) of a storage shelf (100), the RFID antenna (600) of the storage chamber (120) recognizes this and transmits it to the control unit (300) to detect that the battery (B) is stored in the storage chamber (120) and to recognize the identifier (ID) of the stored battery (B) to use for monitoring the entry / exit and storage status of batteries (B) stored in multiple storage chambers (120).
[0055] When the battery (B) is stored in the storage chamber (120), the temperature sensor (210) detects the temperature of the battery (B) in real time and transmits it to the control unit (300) to monitor the heat generation status of the battery (B).
[0056] When the temperature of the battery (B) detected by the temperature sensor (210) exceeds a certain temperature, it is determined that an abnormality has occurred and this is transmitted to the manager so that necessary measures, such as withdrawing the battery (B) from the storage chamber (120), can be taken.
[0057] When the battery (B) suddenly overheats and a fire occurs before any abnormal situation of the battery (B) is detected and measures are taken, and the temperature sensor (210) and smoke sensor (230) detect the occurrence of the fire, the control unit (300) recognizes the location of the storage chamber (120) where the fire occurred, and rapidly transmits information about the fire occurrence to a 119 control center or a manager's portable mobile communication terminal through the automatic fire alarm module (340), and applies a control signal to the fire extinguishing controller (450) of the fire extinguishing module (400) to operate the driving motor (421).
[0058] The main body (410) moves by the operation of the driving motor (421) and stops at a position corresponding to the storage chamber (120) where the fire has occurred. Then, the fire extinguishing controller (450) applies a control signal to the lifting motor (441) of the lifting movement unit (440) to operate the lifting movement unit (440) and position the nozzle mount member (460) directly in front of the storage chamber (120) where the fire has occurred. Then, the main body (410) or the nozzle mount member (460) is moved a certain distance to close the open front surface of the storage chamber (120), and the extinguishing agent supply unit (430) is opened to spray the extinguishing agent into the storage chamber (120) through the nozzle (470) to quickly suppress the fire.
[0059] Meanwhile, when a fire occurs in the battery (B) inside the storage chamber (120), the fire is not easily spread by the non-combustible board (113) of the protective insulation material (110) forming the wall of the storage chamber (120).
[0060] As such, the battery automated storage and fire extinguishing control system of the present invention is configured such that the protective insulation material (110) that forms a fire wall of the storage shelf (100) is non-combustible, and in particular, the non-combustible board (113) of the protective insulation material (110) is made of a composition having expanded vermiculite as the main component, so that the spread of fire of the battery (B) can be effectively prevented.
[0061] In addition, when a fire occurs, the control unit (300) automatically recognizes the location of the storage chamber (120) where the fire occurred, moves the fire extinguishing module (400) to the storage chamber (120) where the fire occurred, and sprays a fire extinguishing agent into the storage chamber (120) to quickly suppress the fire.
[0062] The fire extinguishing module (400) constituting the battery automation storage and fire extinguishing control system of the above-described embodiment is configured to move to the location of the fire when a battery fire occurs within the storage chamber (120) of the storage shelf (100) and to spray water or a fire extinguishing agent into the storage chamber (120) where the fire occurred, but as shown in FIG. 8, the fire extinguishing module (400) may further include an irrigation sprinkler (490) installed on the upper part of each of the plurality of storage chambers (120) partitioned in the storage shelf (100) to automatically spray water or a fire extinguishing agent dedicated to lithium-ion batteries by heat when a fire occurs.
[0063] The sprinkler (490) may use a known sprinkler (490) device, and the sprinkler (490) may be used alone, but may also be used in conjunction with the mobile fire extinguishing module (400) of the first embodiment described above.
