[0033] Hereinafter, a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a display device of an embodiment. FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a display device according to an embodiment.
[0034] The display device (DD) of one embodiment illustrated in FIG. 1 may be a device that is activated according to an electrical signal. For example, the display device (DD) may be a mobile phone, a tablet, a car navigation system, a game console, or a wearable device, but the embodiment is not limited thereto. FIG. 1 illustrates the display device (DD) as a mobile phone as an example.
[0035] A display device (DD) according to one embodiment can display an image (IM) through an active area (AA-DD). The active area (AA-DD) may include a plane defined by a first direction axis (DR1) and a second direction axis (DR2). The active area (AA-DD) may include a curved surface bent from at least one side of the plane defined by the first direction axis (DR1) and the second direction axis (DR2). The display device (DD) of one embodiment illustrated in FIG. 1 is shown to include two curved surfaces, each bent from both sides of the plane defined by the first direction axis (DR1) and the second direction axis (DR2). However, the shape of the active area (AA-DD) is not limited thereto. For example, the active area (AA-DD) may include only the plane defined by the first direction axis (DR1) and the second direction axis (DR2), and the active area (AA-DD) may further include four curved surfaces each bent from at least two, for example, four sides of the plane defined by the first direction axis (DR1) and the second direction axis (DR2).
[0036] The display device (DD) of one embodiment may be flexible. "Flexible" means a characteristic of being able to bend, and may include everything from a structure that is completely foldable to a structure that can be bent to the level of several nanometers. For example, the display device (DD) may be a foldable display device. In addition, the display device (DD) may be rigid.
[0037] A sensing area (SA-DD) may be defined within the active area (AA-DD) of the display device (DD). Although one sensing area (SA-DD) is illustrated as an example in FIG. 1, the number of sensing areas (SA-DD) is not limited thereto. A sensing area (SA-DD) may be a part of the active area (AA-DD). The display device (DD) may display an image through the sensing area (SA-DD).
[0038] Meanwhile, an optical signal, such as visible light or infrared light, may travel to the sensing area (SA-DD). The display device (DD) may include an electronic module that captures an external image through visible light passing through the sensing area (SA-DD) or determines the accessibility of an external object through infrared light.
[0039] In FIG. 1 and the drawings below, the first directional axis (DR1) to the third directional axis (DR3) are illustrated, and the directions indicated by the first to third directional axes (DR1, DR2, DR3) described in this specification are relative concepts and can be converted to other directions. Additionally, the directions indicated by the first to third directional axes (DR1, DR2, DR3) may be described as the first to third directions, and the same reference numerals may be used. In this specification, the first directional axis (DR1) and the second directional axis (DR2) are orthogonal to each other, and the third directional axis (DR3) may be a normal direction to the plane defined by the first directional axis (DR1) and the second directional axis (DR2).
[0040] The thickness direction of the display device (DD) may be a direction parallel to the third direction axis (DR3), which is a normal direction to the plane defined by the first direction axis (DR1) and the second direction axis (DR2). In this specification, the front (or top) and back (or bottom) surfaces of the members constituting the display device (DD) may be defined with respect to the third direction axis (DR3).
[0041] Referring to FIG. 2, a display device (DD) may include a display module (DM) and a low-reflection window (WM) disposed on the display module (DM). In one embodiment, the low-reflection window (WM) may exhibit a Specular Component Include (SCI) reflectance reduced by at least 2% compared to a conventional window. A conventional window may have an SCI reflectance of 3.9% to 4.2%. A low-reflection window (WM) having an SCI reflectance reduced by at least 2% compared to the SCI reflectance of a conventional window may contribute to improving the reflectance of the display device (DD). Accordingly, in one embodiment, a display device (DD) including a low-reflection window (WM) may exhibit characteristics of improved display quality and visibility.
[0042] According to one embodiment, the low-reflection window (WM) may have an SCI reflectance of 4.12% or less. An SCI reflectance of 4.12% may be a value obtained by multiplying an SCI reflectance of 4.2% by 0.98. For example, the low-reflection window (WM) may have an SCI reflectance of 3.82% or less, and an SCI reflectance of 3.82% may be a value obtained by multiplying an SCI reflectance of 3.9% by 0.98. More specifically, the low-reflection window (WM) may have an SCI reflectance of 3.72% or less. However, this is exemplary and the embodiments are not limited thereto.
[0043] The low-reflection window (WM) may include a transparent portion (TA) and a bezel portion (BZA). The transparent portion (TA) may be a portion corresponding to the active area (AA) of the display module (DM), and the bezel portion (BZA) may be a portion corresponding to the peripheral area (NAA) of the display module (DM). The bezel portion (BZA) may define the shape of the transparent portion (TA). The bezel portion (BZA) may be adjacent to the transparent portion (TA) and may surround the transparent portion (TA). The bezel portion (BZA) may be positioned adjacent to only one side of the transparent portion (TA), or a portion may be omitted.
[0044] The display module (DM) may be configured to generate an image and detect an externally applied input. The display module (DM) may define an active area (AA) and a peripheral area (NAA). The active area (AA) may be an area that is activated according to an electrical signal. The peripheral area (NAA) may be an area located adjacent to at least one side of the active area (AA). Driving circuits or driving wiring for driving the active area (AA) may be disposed in the peripheral area (NAA).
[0045] A display device (DD) of one embodiment may include a plurality of light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B). For example, a display device (DD) of one embodiment may include a first light-emitting region (PXA-R), a second light-emitting region (PXA-G), and a third light-emitting region (PXA-B). Each of the first light-emitting region (PXA-R), the second light-emitting region (PXA-G), and the third light-emitting region (PXA-B) may emit light in a different wavelength range. The first light-emitting region (PXA-R) may be a red light-emitting region that emits red light, the second light-emitting region (PXA-G) may be a green light-emitting region that emits green light, and the third light-emitting region (PXA-B) may be a blue light-emitting region that emits blue light.
[0046] On the plane defined by the first directional axis (DR1) and the second directional axis (DR2), the first to third light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be separated without overlapping each other. A non-light-emitting region (NPXA) may be disposed between adjacent light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B).
[0047] FIG. 2 illustrates that in a display device (DD) according to one embodiment, light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) are arranged in a stripe shape. In the display device (DD), the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be arranged alternately along a second directional axis (DR2) in the order of a first light-emitting region (PXA-R), a second light-emitting region (PXA-G), and a third light-emitting region (PXA-B). Meanwhile, the arrangement of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) is not limited to that shown in FIG. 2, and the order in which the first light-emitting region (PXA-R), the second light-emitting region (PXA-G), and the third light-emitting region (PXA-B) are arranged may be provided in various combinations depending on the characteristics of the display quality required in the display device (DD). For example, the arrangement of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be a Pentile™ array or a Diamond Pixel™ array.
[0048] The light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may have the same area. The area may refer to an area on a plane defined by the first directional axis (DR1) and the second directional axis (DR2). However, the embodiments are not limited thereto, and among the plurality of light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B), the areas of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) that emit light of different wavelength regions may differ from one another. The area ratio of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be adjusted in various ways depending on the characteristics of the display quality required in the display device (DD).
[0049] In a display device (DD) of one embodiment, the area of each of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be reduced compared to a conventional display device. A display device (DD) of one embodiment does not include a polarizer and a color filter. A conventional display device included a polarizer or a color filter disposed on a display element layer. A color filter is a filter that exhibits a specific color, such as a red filter, a green filter, or a blue filter, and transmits and / or converts the color of light emitted from the display element layer. A display device (DD) that does not include a polarizer may be provided with a thin thickness. A display device (DD) of one embodiment that does not include a polarizer and a color filter may have improved transmittance and light efficiency. As the transmittance and light efficiency of the display device (DD) are improved, the area of each of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may be provided with a reduced area. A display device (DD) with a reduced area of each of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) can exhibit improved reflectivity.
[0050] In addition, the shapes of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) on the plane can also be provided in various modified forms. Although FIG. 2 shows each of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) having a rectangular shape on the plane, the embodiment is not limited thereto. Each of the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) may have a shape such as a polygon or a circle on the plane.
[0051] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing the portion corresponding to the line I-I' in FIG. 2. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view showing an enlarged view of the XX' region in FIG. 3.

Additionally, the display element layer (DP-ED) may include a low-reflection layer (LFA) disposed on the second electrode (EL2).
[0056] The pixel defining layer (PDL) may not overlap with the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B). The pixel defining layer (PDL) may overlap with the non-light-emitting region (NPXA). The pixel defining layer (PDL) may have light-absorbing properties. The pixel defining layer (PDL) may include a black coloring agent. The black coloring agent may include a black dye or a black pigment. The black coloring agent may include carbon black, a metal such as chromium, or oxides thereof. The pixel defining layer (PDL) may cover a portion of the first electrodes (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3). Meanwhile, in this specification, overlapping one configuration with another configuration means having the same area in a plane perpendicular to the thickness direction, or having a larger area than the other configuration.
[0057] The first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may be an anode or a cathode. Additionally, the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may be a pixel electrode. The first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may be a transmissive electrode, a semitransmissive electrode, or a reflective electrode. When the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) is a transmissive electrode, the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may include a transparent metal oxide, for example, ITO (indium tin oxide), IZO (indium zinc oxide), ZnO (zinc oxide), ITZO (indium tin zinc oxide), etc. When the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) is a semi-transparent electrode or a reflective electrode, the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may include Ag, Mg, Cu, Al, Pt, Pd, Au, Ni, Nd, Ir, Cr, Li, Ca, LiF / Ca, LiF / Al, Mo, Ti, W, or a compound or mixture thereof (e.g., a mixture of Ag and Mg). Alternatively, the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may have a plurality of layer structures including a reflective film or semi-transparent film formed of the above materials and a transparent conductive film formed of ITO (indium tin oxide), IZO (indium zinc oxide), ZnO (zinc oxide), ITZO (indium tin zinc oxide), etc. For example, the first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3) may have a three-layer structure of ITO / Ag / ITO, but is not limited thereto.
[0058] The display element layer (DP-ED) may include a plurality of light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3). Each of the light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3) may be patterned and provided within a pixel aperture (E_OH) defined in a pixel defining film (PDL). The light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3) may overlap light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B). The display element layer (DP-ED) may include a first light-emitting layer (EML-1) corresponding to a first light-emitting region (PXA-R), a second light-emitting layer (EML-2) corresponding to a second light-emitting region (PXA-G), and a third light-emitting layer (EML-3) corresponding to a third light-emitting region (PXA-B). For example, the first light-emitting layer (EML-1) can emit red light, the second light-emitting layer (EML-2) can emit green light, and the third light-emitting layer (EML-3) can emit blue light.
[0059] Each of the light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3) may include a fluorescent or phosphorescent material. Additionally, an electron transport region is disposed between the light-emitting layer (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3) and the second electrode (EL2), and the electron transport region may include at least one of an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, and a hole blocking layer. Each of the hole transport region and the electron transport region may be provided as a common layer or may be provided by being patterned within the pixel aperture (E_OH).
[0064] The low-reflection layer (LFA) may include an inorganic material with low reflectivity and may include a metal or a metal oxide. The low-reflection layer (LFA) may include at least one of bismuth (Bi) and ytterbium (Yb). For example, the low-reflection layer (LFA) may be formed by depositing bismuth (Bi) or by co-depositing bismuth (Bi) and ytterbium (Yb). Bismuth (Bi) and ytterbium (Yb) may be metals that can be deposited at a temperature that does not damage the composition of the light-emitting layer (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3), etc., disposed beneath the low-reflection layer (LFA).
[0065] The low-reflection layer (LFA) may have a refractive index of 1.4 or higher and 3.0 or lower. The low-reflection layer (LFA) may have an absorption coefficient (k) of 1.5 or lower. For example, the low-reflection layer (LFA) may have an absorption coefficient greater than 0.5 and less than or equal to 1.5. A low-reflection layer (LFA) satisfying a predetermined range of refractive index and absorption coefficient can reduce the reflectance of light.
[0066] The low-reflection layer (LFA) can reduce external light reflectivity by inducing destructive interference between light incident into the display device (DD) and light reflected from a metal (e.g., a second electrode) placed below the low-reflection layer (LFA). Accordingly, in one embodiment, the display device (DD) including the low-reflection layer (LFA) can have improved display quality and light efficiency.
[0067] The display element layer (DP-ED) may further include a capping layer (CPL) disposed between the second electrode (EL2) and the low-reflection layer (LFA). The capping layer (CPL) may include a single layer or multiple layers. The capping layer (CPL) may include an organic material or an inorganic material. In one embodiment, the capping layer (CPL) may be an organic layer or an inorganic layer. For example, if the capping layer (CPL) includes an inorganic material, the inorganic material may include an alkali metal compound such as LiF, an alkaline earth metal compound such as MgF2, silicon oxynitride, silicon nitride, silicon oxide, etc. For example, when the capping layer (CPL) contains an organic material, the organic material may include α-NPD, NPB, TPD, m-MTDATA, Alq3, CuPc, TPD15 (N4,N4,N4',N4'-tetra (biphenyl-4-yl) biphenyl-4,4'-diamine), TCTA (4,4',4"- Tris (carbazol-9-yl) triphenylamine), etc., or may include an epoxy resin or an acrylate such as methacrylate.
[0068] The refractive index of the capping layer (CPL) may be 1.6 or higher. For example, for light in the wavelength range of 550 nm or more and 660 nm or less, the refractive index of the capping layer (CPL) may be 1.6 or higher. The capping layer (CPL) can improve light efficiency by the principle of constructive interference.
[0069] Referring to FIG. 4, the thickness (TN1) of the second electrode (EL2) may be 95 Å or more and 200 Å or less. The thickness (TN2) of the capping layer (CPL) may be 200 Å or more and 1000 Å or less. The thickness (TN3) of the low reflection layer (LFA) may be 50 Å or more and 150 Å or less. The light travel distance, etc., of the second electrode (EL2), the capping layer (CPL), and the low reflection layer (LFA) satisfying a predetermined thickness range can be adjusted, thereby improving the light efficiency of the display device (DD).
[0070] The display element layer (DP-ED) may further include an encapsulation portion (TFE) disposed on a low-reflection layer (LFA). The encapsulation portion (TFE) may seal components such as a first electrode (EL1-1, EL1-2, EL1-3), a light-emitting layer (EML1-1, EML1-2, EML1-3), and a second electrode (EL2) disposed below the encapsulation portion (TFE). The encapsulation portion (TFE) may protect the components from foreign substances such as moisture, oxygen, and / or dust particles.
[0071] The bag portion (TFE) may include a first bag layer (100), a second bag layer (200), and a third bag layer (300) stacked sequentially. Additionally, the bag portion (TFE) may further include a fourth bag layer (400) disposed on the third bag layer (300) and a fifth bag layer (500) disposed on the fourth bag layer (400).
[0072] The refractive index of the second encapsulation layer (200) may be smaller than the refractive index of the first encapsulation layer (100) and the refractive index of the third encapsulation layer (300). In the first encapsulation layer (100), the second encapsulation layer (200), and the third encapsulation layer (300) stacked sequentially, the second encapsulation layer (200), which is a layer positioned in the center with respect to the thickness direction, has a smaller refractive index, thereby improving the display quality of the display device (DD).
[0073] For example, the refractive index of the second encapsulation layer (200) may be 1.2 or higher and 1.8 or lower. The refractive index of the first encapsulation layer (100) may be 1.6 or higher and 2.2 or lower. The refractive index of the third encapsulation layer (300) may be 1.5 or higher and 2.1 or lower. More specifically, the refractive index of the second encapsulation layer (200) may be approximately 1.48, the refractive index of the first encapsulation layer (100) may be approximately 1.89, and the refractive index of the third encapsulation layer (300) may be approximately 1.77.
[0074] The thickness (TH1) of the first sealing layer (100) may be 200 Å or more and 3000 Å or less. The thickness (TH2) of the second sealing layer (200) may be 500 Å or more and 4000 Å or less. The thickness (TH3) of the third sealing layer (300) may be 4000 Å or more and 12000 Å or less. The thickness of the third sealing layer (300) placed on top is provided to be 4000 Å or more, so that high sealing reliability can be exhibited.
[0075] The first encapsulation layer (100), the second encapsulation layer (200), and the third encapsulation layer (300) may include inorganic materials. The first encapsulation layer (100) may include silicon nitride, and the second encapsulation layer (200) and the third encapsulation layer (300) may each include silicon oxynitride. Although not illustrated, the encapsulation portion (TFE) may further include an inorganic layer containing inorganic materials and / or an organic layer containing organic materials between the third encapsulation layer (300) and the fourth encapsulation layer (400).
[0076] The fourth encapsulation layer (400) can protect the composition of the light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3), etc., from foreign substances such as dust particles. The fourth encapsulation layer (400) may include acrylic compounds, epoxy compounds, etc. The fourth encapsulation layer (400) may include photopolymerizable organic materials and is not particularly limited.
[0077] The fifth encapsulation layer (500) can protect the composition of the light-emitting layers (EML-1, EML-2, EML-3), etc., from moisture and oxygen. The fifth encapsulation layer (500) may include silicon nitride, silicon oxynitride, silicon oxide, titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, etc., but is not particularly limited thereto. For example, the refractive index of the fifth encapsulation layer (500) may be about 1.89, and the thickness of the fifth encapsulation layer (500) may be 5000 Å. However, this is exemplary, and the refractive index and thickness of the fifth encapsulation layer (500) are not limited thereto.
[0078] Referring again to FIG. 3, in one embodiment, the optical control layer (OPL) may include a color pattern portion (CPT) and an overcoat layer (OC) disposed on the color pattern portion (CPT). The optical control layer (OPL) may be formed from a material capable of curing at low temperatures. The optical control layer (OPL) may be formed by curing at a temperature of about 85°C or lower. The optical control layer (OPL) may be formed by directly providing a material for forming the optical control layer (OPL) onto a component disposed below the optical control layer (OPL). Accordingly, it is possible to prevent damage to components such as a display element layer (DP-ED) disposed below the optical control layer (OPL) during the curing process.
[0079] The color pattern portion (CPT) may include a base resin and a first color material dispersed in the base resin. Alternatively, the color pattern portion (CPT) may include a base resin, a first color material dispersed in the base resin, and a black color material dispersed in the base resin. Additionally, the color pattern portion (CPT) may further include additives, etc.
[0080] In this specification, the color material comprises a pigment and a dye. The first color material may include at least one of a red color material, a green color material, and a blue color material. The color pattern part (CPT) may include at least one of a red pigment, a red dye, a green pigment, a green dye, a blue pigment, and a blue dye as the first color material.
[0081] Additionally, the color pattern part (CPT) may further include a black colorant. The color pattern part (CPT) may further include a black pigment and / or a black dye. For example, the color pattern part (CPT) may include a carbon black pigment and / or a lactam-based organic black pigment as a black colorant. However, this is exemplary, and the red, green, blue, and black colorants may each be used without limitation as long as they are common materials known in the art.
[0082] Based on the total weight of the color pattern part (CPT), the first color material may be provided in an amount of less than 50 wt%. The color pattern part (CPT) includes at least one of a red color material, a green color material, and a blue color material, and a black color material, and the sum of the weights of at least one of the red color material, the green color material, and the blue color material and the black color material may be less than 50 wt%. The color pattern part (CPT) may include all of the red color material, the green color material, and the blue color material, and may not include the black color material. When the color pattern part (CPT) includes all of the red color material, the green color material, and the blue color material, the sum of the weights of the red color material, the green color material, and the blue color material may be less than 50 wt%.
[0083] For example, the color pattern section (CPT) may include any one of red, green, and blue colors, and may further include black colors. When the color pattern section (CPT) includes any one of red, green, and blue colors, any one of the colors may be provided at 15 wt% or less based on the total weight of the color pattern section (CPT). Alternatively, the color pattern section (CPT) may include any two of red, green, and blue colors, and may further include black colors. When the color pattern section (CPT) includes any two of red, green, and blue colors, each of the two colors may be provided at 15 wt% or less based on the total weight of the color pattern section (CPT). A color pattern section (CPT) containing colors satisfying a predetermined weight range may contribute to improving the display quality of a display device (DD). By adjusting the type and weight of the color material in the color pattern section (CPT), a display device (DD) having the desired display quality can be provided.
[0084] In one embodiment, the color pattern portion (CPT) has an optical density (OD) of 1 μm per unit thickness. It can be 1.0 or higher per unit thickness. Optical density is 1 µm per unit thickness. A color pattern portion (CPT) with a value of 1.0 or higher may exhibit characteristics of reduced reflectance. The color pattern portion (CPT) may have an SCI reflectance of less than 5%. A color pattern portion (CPT) exhibiting an SCI reflectance of less than 5% may contribute to improving the display quality of the display device (DD).
[0085] The color pattern part (CPT) may have a transmittance of 80% or more for light in a wavelength range of 940 nm or more. The light in a wavelength range of 940 nm or more may be infrared light. The color pattern part (CPT) having a transmittance of 80% or more for light in a wavelength range of 940 nm or more may exhibit excellent transmission of infrared light signals.
[0086] The color pattern portion (CPT) may not overlap with the light-emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B). The color pattern portion (CPT) may overlap with the non-light-emitting region (NPXA). The color pattern portion (CPT) may have a defined pattern aperture (P_OH). The pattern aperture (P_OH) of the color pattern portion (CPT) may overlap with the pixel aperture (E_OH) of the pixel defining film (PDL). In the non-light-emitting region (NPXA), the color pattern portion (CPT) and the pixel defining film (PDL) may overlap.
[0087] The overcoat layer (OC) may overlap the emitting regions (PXA-R, PXA-G, PXA-B) and the non-emitting region (NPXA). The overcoat layer (OC) may fill and be placed over the pattern opening (P_OH) on the color pattern portion (CPT). The upper surface of the overcoat layer (OC) may be adjacent to the low-reflection window (WM) and may be flat. The overcoat layer (OC) may contain an organic material. The overcoat layer (OC) may be optically transparent. For example, the overcoat layer (OC) may have a transmittance of 85% or more for light in the wavelength range of 380 nm to 780 nm.
[0088] The input sensing layer (ISL) may include a base insulating layer (IS_L2), a first conductive layer (IS_C1) disposed on the base insulating layer (IS_L2), a second conductive layer (IS_C2) disposed on the first conductive layer (IS_C1), and a touch insulating layer (IS_L1) disposed between the first conductive layer (IS_C1) and the second conductive layer (IS_C2). The base insulating layer (IS_L2) may include a single layer or a multilayer. The base insulating layer (IS_L2) may include an organic material or an inorganic material. The base insulating layer (IS_L2) may include at least one of silicon nitride, silicon oxynitride, and silicon oxide. Alternatively, the base insulating layer (IS_L2) may include an epoxy resin, an acrylic resin, or an imide-based resin.
[0089] Each of the first conductive layer (IS_C1) and the second conductive layer (IS_CL2) may comprise a single layer or a multilayer. Each of the first conductive layer (IS_C1) and the second conductive layer (IS_CL2) may comprise a single metal layer or a transparent conductive layer. The metal layer may comprise molybdenum (Mo), silver (Ag), titanium (Ti), copper (Cu), aluminum (Al), or an alloy thereof. The transparent conductive layer may comprise a transparent conductive oxide such as ITO (indium tin oxide), IZO (indium zinc oxide), ITZO (indium tin zinc oxide), etc. Additionally, the transparent conductive layer may comprise a conductive polymer such as PEDOT, metal nanowires, graphene, etc.
[0090] Each of the first conductive layer (IS_C1) and the second conductive layer (IS_CL2) may have a three-layer structure of ITO / Ag / ITO. Additionally, each of the first conductive layer (IS_C1) and the second conductive layer (IS_CL2) may include at least one metal layer and at least one transparent conductive layer.
[0091] The touch insulating layer (IS_L1) may include an inorganic or organic material. If the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) includes an organic material, it may include at least one of a red colorant, a green colorant, and a blue colorant.
[0092] In one embodiment, at least one of the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) of the input sensing layer (ISL) and the overcoat layer (OC) of the optical control layer (OPL) comprises a second color material, and the second color material may comprise at least one of a red color material, a green color material, and a blue color material. At least one of the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and the overcoat layer (OC) may comprise at least one of a red pigment, a red dye, a green pigment, a green dye, a blue pigment, and a blue dye. The second color material may absorb light in a wavelength region different from the wavelength region of light emitted from the display element layer (DP-ED). The second color material may absorb light in a wavelength region of 420 nm or more and 440 nm or less, or 570 nm or more and 590 nm or less.
[0093] In at least one of the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and the overcoat layer (OC), the second colorant may be included in an amount of 3 wt% or less. If the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) includes the second colorant, the second colorant may be 3 wt% or less based on the total weight of the touch insulating layer (IS_L1). If the overcoat layer (OC) includes the second colorant, the second colorant may be 3 wt% or less based on the total weight of the overcoat layer (OC).
[0094] A member comprising a second color material among a touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and an overcoat layer (OC) may have a transmittance of 90% or more for light in a wavelength range of 380 nm or more and 780 nm or less. When the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) includes the second color material, the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) may have a transmittance of 90% or more for light in a wavelength range of 380 nm or more and 780 nm or less. A display device (DD) comprising a touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and an overcoat layer (OC) having a transmittance of 90% or more for light in a wavelength range of 380 nm or more and 780 nm or less can exhibit excellent display quality.
[0095] A component comprising 3 wt% or less of a second colorant among the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and the overcoat layer (OC) can contribute to improving the display quality of the display device (DD). By adjusting the type and weight range of the second colorant in at least one of the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and the overcoat layer (OC), a display device (DD) having the desired display quality can be provided.
[0096] Among the touch insulating layer (IS_L1) and the overcoat layer (OC), the member containing the second colorant can be formed from a material capable of curing at low temperatures. The member containing the second colorant can be formed by curing at a temperature of about 85°C or lower. A material for forming the member containing the second colorant can be directly provided on a component (e.g., a first conductive layer and / or a second conductive layer) disposed below the member containing the second colorant, so that the member containing the second colorant can be formed. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent damage to a component such as a display element layer (DP-ED) disposed below the member containing the second colorant during the curing process.
[0097] FIGS. 5 to 8 are cross-sectional views illustrating other embodiments of the display device of the present invention. In the following description of FIGS. 5 to 8, content that overlaps with the description with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4 will not be explained again, and the differences will be explained in detail.
[0098] A display device (DD) of one embodiment may further include an ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) disposed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL), and between the optical control layer (OPL) and the low-reflection window (WM). Compared to the display module (DM) described with reference to FIG. 3, the display module (DM-a) illustrated in FIG. 5 includes an ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) between the optical control layer (OPL) and the low-reflection window (WM).
[0099] The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) may have a transmittance of 10% or less for light in a wavelength range of 410 nm or less. The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) may include a light absorber that absorbs light in a wavelength range of 410 nm or less. Light in a wavelength range of 410 nm or less may be ultraviolet light. An ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) having a transmittance of 10% or less for light in a wavelength range of 410 nm or less can minimize or prevent damage to the composition of a display element layer (DP-ED), etc., caused by ultraviolet light, etc. Accordingly, a display device (DD) including the ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) of one embodiment can exhibit excellent reliability.
[0100] Compared to the display module (DM) described with reference to FIG. 3, the display module (DM-b) illustrated in FIG. 6 includes an ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL), and it can be seen that the display element layer (DP-ED) does not include an encapsulation portion (TFE, FIG. 3). More specifically, in FIG. 6, the ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) is shown as being placed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the input sensing layer (ISL). The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) can be provided to replace the encapsulation portion (TFE, FIG. 3) of the display element layer (DP-ED). The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) placed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL) may have a transmittance of 10% or less for light in the wavelength region of 410 nm or less.
[0101] Compared to the display module (DM) described with reference to FIG. 3, the display module (DM-c) illustrated in FIG. 7 can be seen to include an overcoat layer (OC-a) of the optical control layer (OPL-a) comprising multiple layers, and a UV blocking layer (LBL) between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL-a). Additionally, the display element layer (DP-ED) in FIG. 7 is depicted as not including an encapsulation portion (TFE, FIG. 3).
[0102] Referring to FIG. 7, the multilayer overcoat layer (OC-a) may include a first layer (O_L1) and a second layer (O_L2) disposed on the first layer (O_L1). The first layer (O_L1) may include an optically transparent organic material and have a flat upper surface. The first layer (O_L1) may be disposed on a color pattern portion (CPT) and may fill a pattern opening (P_OH). The second layer (O_L2) may include at least one of an optically clear adhesive (OCA) and a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The second layer (O_L2) may be disposed adjacent to a low-reflection window (WM). Although not illustrated, a multilayer overcoat layer (OC-a) may also be provided to replace the single layer overcoat layer (OC) for the display module (DM, DM-a) of FIG. 3 and 5 described above.
[0103] Compared to the display module (DM) described with reference to FIG. 3, the display module (DM-d) illustrated in FIG. 8 includes ultraviolet blocking layers (LBL, LBL-a) disposed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL), and between the optical control layer (OPL) and the low-reflection window (WM). That is, the display module (DM-b) illustrated in FIG. 8 may include two ultraviolet blocking layers (LBL, LBL-a) disposed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL), and between the optical control layer (OPL) and the low-reflection window (WM). The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL) disposed between the display element layer (DP-ED) and the optical control layer (OPL) may include a light absorber that absorbs light in the wavelength region of 410 nm or less. The ultraviolet blocking layer (LBL-a) placed between the optical control layer (OPL) and the low-reflection window (WM) may have a transmittance of 10% or less for light in the wavelength range of 410 nm or less. Although not shown, for the display module (DM-d) of FIG. 8, a multilayer overcoat layer (OC-a) shown in FIG. 7 may be provided to replace the single layer overcoat layer (OC).
[0104] Hereinafter, a display device including a low-reflection window, a color pattern portion, and an encapsulation portion according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to examples and comparative examples. The examples described below are illustrative examples to aid in understanding the present invention, and the scope of the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0105] Table 1 below shows the simulated luminous efficiency and the area of each of the light-emitting regions in the display devices of Comparative Example X1, Comparative Example X2, and Example A1. The area of each of the light-emitting regions represents the ratio of the area on a plane perpendicular to the thickness direction of the display device, and represents the ratio of the area excluding the area of the non-light-emitting region, with the total area set to 100%. That is, in Table 1, the remainder excluding the sum of the total areas of the light-emitting regions corresponds to the sum of the areas of the non-light-emitting regions. For example, in Example A1, the sum of 7.82%, 11.94%, and 16.88%, which is 36.64%, is subtracted from 100% to form 63.36%, which is the sum of the non-light-emitting regions.
[0106] In FIG. 2, the total area of the first light-emitting regions corresponds to the area of the red light-emitting region in Table 1, the total area of the second light-emitting regions in FIG. 2 corresponds to the area of the green light-emitting region in Table 1, and the total area of the third light-emitting regions in FIG. 3 corresponds to the area of the blue light-emitting region in Table 1.
[0107] The display devices of Comparative Example X1, Comparative Example X2, and Example A1 have a lifespan of 900 to 1000 hours. Example A1 is a display device according to one embodiment and is a display device corresponding to FIG. 3, and Comparative Example X1 is a display device that includes a polarizer disposed on a display element layer and does not include an optical control layer. Comparative Example X2 is a display device that includes a color filter disposed on a display element layer and does not include an optical control layer. In Table 1, the luminous efficiency is a relative value with respect to the luminance of white light, with the luminance of Comparative Example X1 set to 100%.
[0108] division light efficiency area red light emission area Green light-emitting area Blue light emission region Comparative Example X1 100% 14.40% 23.82% 25.45% Comparative Example X2 138% 10.82% 18.39% 15.48% Example A1 167% 7.82% 11.94% 16.88%
[0109] Referring to Table 1, it can be seen that Example A1 exhibits high luminous efficiency compared to Comparative Examples X1 and X2. Example A1, which has high luminous efficiency, can exhibit long lifespan characteristics compared to Comparative Examples X1 and X2. In Example A1, which exhibits luminous efficiency and long lifespan characteristics, the area of each light-emitting region can be formed smaller compared to Comparative Examples X1 and X2. Example A1, with reduced area of each light-emitting region, can exhibit improved reflectance.
[0110] More specifically, when compared to the area of the red light-emitting region of Comparative Example X1, it can be seen that the area of the red light-emitting region of Example A1 is reduced by more than 30%. The 30% reduction from the area of the red light-emitting region of Comparative Example X1 (14.40%) is approximately 10.08%. In addition, it can be seen that the area of the green light-emitting region of Example A1 is reduced by more than 30% compared to the area of the green light-emitting region of Comparative Example X1. It can be seen that the area of the blue light-emitting region of Example A1 is reduced by more than 30% compared to the area of the blue light-emitting region of Comparative Example X1. Accordingly, it is determined that the display device according to one embodiment exhibits excellent light efficiency and improved reflectance as the area of each light-emitting region is reduced.
[0111] Table 2 below shows the changes in transmittance, reflectance, and reflected color measured in Comparative Example Y1 and Example B1. Comparative Example Y1 and Example B1 are display devices having the same configuration except for the window. Example B1 includes a low-reflection window according to one embodiment, and Comparative Example Y1 includes a conventional window.
[0112] In Table 2, 'Change in reflective color according to viewing angle of SCI' represents the change in reflective color measured at a left-right viewing angle of 45° relative to the front. 'Change in frontal reflective color of SCI' and 'Change in frontal reflective color of SCE (Specular Component Excluded)' represent the change in reflective color measured from the front with the display device screen turned off. Comparative Example Y1 is a case where there is no change in frontal reflective color. The change in reflective color is represented using the CIE Lab color coordinates 'a*' and 'b*', where 'a*' corresponds to the degree of red (positive (+) value) and green (negative (-) value), and 'b*' corresponds to the degree of yellow (positive (+) value) and blue (negative (-) value). If the change in reflective color is 1.0 or less, the display device indicates good display quality.
[0113] In Table 2, changes in reflectance and reflected color were evaluated using a spectrophotometer CM3700-A (Konica Minolta, Inc.) and measured within an integrating sphere under a standard light source of D65. Transmittance for light at wavelengths of 450 nm, 550 nm, 650 nm, and 940 nm was evaluated using a UV-Vis spectrometer UV-1800 (Shimadzu Corporation). The spectrophotometer was connected to a PC, the wavelength range and measurement mode to be measured were selected, the baseline was aligned, and auto-zero calibration was performed. Subsequently, glass and ref samples were inserted and measured to confirm consistency, and the transmittance of the samples (Comparative Example Y1 and Example B1) was measured.

[0119] Referring to FIG. 9 and Table 3, it can be seen that the color changes depending on the content of the pigment included in the color pattern part. Accordingly, it is determined that the display quality of the display device can be improved by adjusting the content of the pigment included in the color pattern part according to one embodiment.
[0120] Table 4 below shows the changes in SCE reflectance and reflectance color according to whether pigment was added in the display devices of the comparative example and the experimental example. Table 4 is the result evaluated using a spectrophotometer CM3700-A (Konica Minolta, Inc.).
[0121] The display devices of the comparative example and experimental example correspond to the display device of FIG. 3. Comparative example Z1 does not contain pigment in the overcoat layer and the touch insulating layer, and experimental examples C1 and C2 contain red, green, and blue pigments in the overcoat layer. Experimental example C3 contains red, green, and blue pigments in the touch insulating layer. In Table 4, a* and b* are color coordinates of CIE Lab.

[0123] Referring to Table 4, it can be seen that experimental examples C1 to C3 exhibit reduced reflectance compared to comparative example Z1, and at the same time, the color coordinates have changed. Accordingly, it is determined that a display device of one embodiment, which includes at least one color material among red, green, and blue in at least one of the overcoat layer and the touch insulating layer, can provide the desired display quality.
[0124] Figure 10 is a graph showing the color coordinates of SCE evaluated in Comparative Example W1 and Experimental Example D1, where Comparative Example W1 and Experimental Example D1 were each evaluated by producing multiple identical samples. The graph in Figure 10 is the result of evaluation using a spectrophotometer CM3700-A (Konica Minolta, Inc.).
[0125] Comparative Example W1 and Experimental Example D1 differ in the refractive index and thickness of the encapsulation portion. Table 5 shows the refractive index and thickness of the first encapsulation layer, the second encapsulation layer, and the third encapsulation layer, respectively, in Comparative Example W1 and Experimental Example D1. Comparative Example W1 does not include the third encapsulation layer. Experimental Example D1 satisfies the thickness and refractive index ranges of the first encapsulation layer, the second encapsulation layer, and the third encapsulation layer, respectively, according to one embodiment.

[0127] Referring to Table 5, it can be seen that in Comparative Example W1, the thickness of the first encapsulation layer placed at the bottom in the thickness direction is thicker than the thickness of the second encapsulation layer. In Experimental Example D1, the second encapsulation layer placed between the first encapsulation layer and the third encapsulation layer in the thickness direction has a lower refractive index than the first encapsulation layer and the third encapsulation layer. Furthermore, Experimental Example D1 satisfies the aforementioned ranges of thickness and refractive index for the first to third encapsulation layers.
[0128] Referring to FIG. 10, it can be seen that Comparative Example W1 shows positive values for a* and b*, while Experimental Example D1 shows negative values for a* and b*. When the values for a* and b* are positive, the colors are red and yellow, and when the values for a* and b* are negative, the colors are green and blue. Accordingly, it is determined that the display quality of the display device can be improved to a desired level by adjusting the refractive index and / or thickness of the encapsulation portion according to one embodiment.
