Description

Technology Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a license plate mounting bracket fixedly coupled to a vehicle for installing a license plate identifying a registered vehicle, and in particular, to a license plate mounting bracket that enables the installation of a non-perforated license plate—in which the hole formed for sealing has disappeared following the abolition of the license plate sealing system—on an existing vehicle in which the sealing bolt remains. Background Technology

[0002] As illustrated in FIG. 1, a vehicle number plate for identifying a vehicle is installed on the front bumper of the vehicle and on the rear of the vehicle, and the number plate installed on the front bumper of the vehicle is generally fixed by a fixing means (3), such as a screw or bolt with threads, and the number plate (1) installed on the rear of the vehicle is fixed by a seal (2) and a fixing means (3).

[0003] The above seal (2) is intended to prevent theft and unauthorized replacement of the license plate (1), and is fastened to a sealing bolt (2-1) attached to the vehicle to secure the license plate, and is structured so that once fastened, it cannot be separated from the fixing nut unless it is artificially damaged.

[0004] Therefore, if the seal (2) is artificially damaged, the person is subject to imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 3 million won under Article 81 of the Automobile Management Act, and Article 10, Paragraph 3 of the Automobile Management Act stipulates that if the vehicle owner has the registration number plate or its seal fallen off or is difficult to recognize, they must apply to the mayor or provincial governor for the re-attachment and sealing of the registration number plate, and if they do not do so, they will be subject to an administrative fine of up to 1 million won under Article 84 of the same Act.

[0006] Meanwhile, this vehicle license plate sealing system was introduced in 1962 to prevent theft, forgery, and alteration of vehicle license plates, and will be abolished on February 21, 2025, after 62 years.

[0007] This sealing system was operated by securing the left screw of the rear license plate with a stainless steel cap bearing the government mark. However, due to the development of IT technology, real-time verification of stolen or forged license plates became possible. Furthermore, the issuance and reissuance of seals incurred significant costs and time, resulting in unnecessary social costs. Additionally, as time passed, the seals corroded, causing rust stains that damaged the aesthetics of the license plates. Consequently, in response to continuous demands to abolish the sealing system, it was abolished with February 21, 2025, as the effective date of abolition.

[0008] In addition, the abolition of the sealing system is expected to save approximately 3.6 billion won in fees annually, resolve many inconveniences for citizens caused by the sealing system, and reduce the waste of unnecessary manpower and administrative resources.

[0009] Specifically, vehicles can be operated without a seal on the license plate, and the obligation to attach a temporary driving permit is eliminated to address concerns regarding the exposure of personal information and obstruction of the driver's view. Meanwhile, the previous method of fixing license plates to the vehicle will be maintained, which is expected to enhance convenience for vehicle owners and simplify unnecessary administrative procedures.

[0011] Meanwhile, as of the end of 2024, the cumulative number of registered vehicles exceeds 2,600, and as illustrated in (a) of the drawing showing examples of license plates currently in use in FIG. 2, these vehicles are classified according to the printing method into general type license plates using paint (a, b, hereinafter referred to as "general license plates") and film type license plates using a film containing graphics and text of the Taegeuk pattern (c, d, hereinafter referred to as "film license plates"), and according to the coupling method into perforated type license plates using fastening means such as screws or bolts (a, c, hereinafter referred to as "perforated license plates") and non-perforated type license plates installed on a license plate mounting bracket attached to the vehicle (b, d, hereinafter referred to as "non-perforated license plates").

[0012] In other words, under the previous system where the sealing system was in effect, users could selectively use perforated or non-perforated license plates on the front of the vehicle according to their choice, while perforated license plates (Type A, C) had to be used on the rear of the vehicle to install the seal.

[0013] However, as the sealing system is abolished, newly produced automobiles will be manufactured without sealing bolts, and as a result, the license plate itself does not require a hole for sealing. Therefore, since a non-perforated license plate can be installed on the rear using a license plate mounting bracket just like on the front of existing automobiles, only non-perforated license plates will be supplied as shown in Figure 2 (b) above.

[0014] Furthermore, due to the problems of relatively high production costs for existing perforated license plates compared to non-perforated ones caused by the cost of forming perforations, reduced durability of film license plates resulting from the frequent peeling of the film due to perforation, and aesthetic issues caused by rust resulting from the use of screws or bolts, only non-perforated license plates (B, D) will be used in the future, and perforated license plates (A, C) will not be supplied.

[0015] Therefore, for vehicles newly registered after the abolition of the vehicle sealing system, since there are no sealing bolts on the rear of the vehicle, a non-perforated license plate can be installed by installing a license plate mounting bracket on the rear of the vehicle. However, for approximately 26 million vehicles already registered with seals installed, when replacing license plates due to loss of license plates or transfer of ownership, they can only be replaced with non-perforated license plates. Consequently, if the protruding sealing bolts are removed but holes corresponding to the sealing bolts are not arbitrarily formed in the non-perforated license plate, interference occurs with the sealing bolts, causing a problem where the non-perforated license plate cannot be installed.

[0016] Despite the problem of interference with such sealing bolts, conventional technology discloses only a number plate mounting bracket that allows for the installation of non-drilling number plates without considering sealing bolts.

[0017] That is, looking at application number 10-2017-0037066, titled 'Vehicle License Plate Attachment Device', it relates to a license plate mounting stand capable of installing a non-perforated license plate on the front of a vehicle that does not require a seal, and discloses a configuration comprising: a license plate receiving portion for receiving a license plate and a base plate mounted on the vehicle; a fixing projection formed on the edge of the license plate receiving portion for fixing the license plate; and an elastic fixing member having a pair of fixing plates arranged oppositely so as to be elastically approachable and disengaged from each other, wherein one of the pair of fixing plates contacts the base plate and the other of the pair of fixing plates contacts the license plate to fix the license plate to the base plate. The problem to be solved

[0018] The present invention aims to provide a non-perforated license plate mounting bracket for installing a non-perforated license plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt, which enables the installation of a non-perforated license plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt without removing the sealing bolt.

[0019] In other words, the present invention aims to provide a license plate mounting bracket that allows for the installation of a non-perforated license plate while utilizing a sealing bolt that has not been removed from the vehicle, thereby enabling the installation of a non-perforated license plate on the rear of a vehicle where a sealing bolt is installed, without interference with the sealing bolt.

Accordingly, the following detailed description is not intended to be limiting, and the scope of the present invention is limited only by the appended claims, including all equivalents to those claimed by the claims. Similar reference numerals in the drawings refer to the same or similar functions across various aspects.

[0038] As shown in (a) of the drawing for explaining the technical features of a non-perforated license plate holder for installing a non-perforated license plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt of the present invention, in the case of a vehicle registered during the implementation of the license plate sealing system, a sealing bolt (10) having a pin hole (11) and a driver groove (12) formed at the end for the installation of the seal is connected to the rear (R) of the vehicle at a considerable height, so a non-perforated license plate (b, d) as shown in Fig. 2 could not be installed on the rear (R) of the vehicle. However, as shown in (b) of Fig. 3, by using the non-perforated license plate holder (100) according to the present invention to use the sealing bolt (10) as a means to fix the non-perforated license plate holder (100) to the rear (R) of the vehicle, a non-perforated license plate (d) can be installed without interference along with the fixing of the non-perforated license plate holder (100).

[0039] That is, the non-perforated number plate mounting bracket (100) according to the present invention has a technical feature of a structure that allows a non-perforated number plate to be installed without interference while being combined with a sealing bolt (10).

[0041] Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in detail through an example of a non-perforated number plate mounting bracket (100) according to the present invention.

[0043] As shown in FIG. 4, a drawing for explaining the configuration of a non-perforated number plate mounting stand for installing a non-perforated number plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt according to the present invention, the number plate mounting stand (100) according to the present invention is a non-perforated number plate mounting stand installed on the rear (R) of a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt (10) having a pin hole (11) and a driver groove (12) formed at the end as shown in FIG. 3, and comprises a number plate mounting stand body (110) as shown in FIG. 4 (a) and (b), and a fixing pin (P) and a fixing bolt (B) that are inserted into the pin hole (11) of the sealing bolt (10) and restrain the sealing bolt (10) as shown in FIG. 4 (c).

[0044] The above fixing pin (P) may be a conventional pin used for sealing in the form shown in (c) of FIG. 4, or a pin called an ‘R pin’, and in addition, as shown in FIG. 3, it may be a fixing pin of various forms and structures that can be fixed to the number plate mounting stand body (110) by being fastened to the pin hole (11) of the sealing bolt (10) and stored in the sealing bolt storage groove (121) together with the sealing bolt (10) inserted into the sealing bolt storage groove (121).

[0045] The above fixing bolt (B) may also be a conventional bolt consisting of a bolt head and a body having threads, but it is preferable to use a bolt with a bolt head that is as flat as possible.

[0047] The main body (110) of the number plate mounting bracket according to the present invention, as illustrated in FIG. 4, is composed of a bottom plate (120) and an outer frame (130), and the bottom plate (120) is characterized by having a sealing bolt storage groove (121) in which a terminal portion having a pin hole (11) of a sealing bolt is received, as illustrated in FIG. 4 (b), and a fixing bolt installation hole (122).

[0049] The above number plate mounting base body (110) is composed of a bottom plate (120) and an outer frame (130), as shown in FIG. 4.

[0050] As shown in FIG. 5, a drawing for explaining the base plate of a non-perforated number plate mounting bracket for installing a non-perforated number plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt of the present invention, the above-mentioned base plate (120) is made of a synthetic resin material and has a sealing bolt storage groove (121) having a depth such that the end portion to which a fixing pin (P) is connected to the pin hole (11) of a sealing bolt (10) inserted in the direction of the vehicle body to be coupled to the rear (R) of the vehicle in a size corresponding to the non-perforated number plate (Ra) as shown in FIG. 3 is stored so as not to protrude.

[0051] As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the sealing bolt storage groove (121) is formed in a structure that protrudes from the bottom plate (120) toward the rear (R) of the vehicle to a depth in which the end portion of the sealing bolt (10) can be stored.

[0052] That is, the sealing bolt storage groove (121) formed in the base plate (120) allows the license plate mounting bracket body (110) to be fixed to the rear (R) of the vehicle using a sealing bolt (10), and at the same time, a structure is provided in which the sealing bolt (10) does not protrude relative to the base plate (120).

[0053] In addition, the floor plate (120) has a fixing bolt installation hole (122) as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.

[0054] The above fixing bolt installation hole (122) is for fixing the license plate mounting bracket body (110) to the rear (R) of the vehicle, and the license plate mounting bracket body (110) is fixed by the fixing bolt (B) which passes through and is fastened to the license plate fixing nut (20) that is connected to the rear (R) of the vehicle as shown in (b) of Fig. 3.

[0055] At this time, the above-mentioned fixing bolt installation hole (122) provides a space in which the head of the fixing bolt (B) is stored so that it does not protrude when the connection with the number plate fixing nut (20) is completed.

[0056] For example, the above-mentioned fixing bolt installation hole (122) may be formed in the shape of a groove having a depth that can accommodate the head of the fixing bolt (B) inserted and protruding in the direction of the vehicle body, as shown in FIG. 5.

[0057] The fixing bolt installation hole (122) is intended to fix the license plate mounting base body (110) using a fixing bolt (B), and can have various shapes and structures such that the head of the fixing bolt (B) is constrained in the fixing bolt installation hole (122) and can be stored so as not to protrude from the surface of the bottom piece (120).

[0059] Meanwhile, the floor plate (120) preferably further includes a pressure piece (123) that pushes the non-perforated number plate (ra) forward to prevent shaking of the non-perforated number plate (ra) installed on the non-perforated number plate mounting stand (100) according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 5, in order to prevent shaking of the non-perforated number plate (ra) as shown in FIG. 3.

[0060] Such a pressure piece (123) can be of various structures and shapes capable of pushing out a non-perforated number plate (Ra) in addition to the shape shown in FIG. 5.

[0062] The outer frame (130) has the shape as shown in (a) and (b) of FIG. 4, and is preferably formed integrally on the outer edge of the bottom plate (120) using the same material as the bottom plate (120).

[0063] The outer frame (130) is made of a thickness having a rear height (h1) to prevent the sealing bolt storage groove (121) and the fixing bolt installation hole (122) from protruding backward, and a front height (h2) to provide a storage space for storing a non-perforated number plate.

[0064] Accordingly, the rear height (h1) of the outer frame (130) provides a space or height to prevent interference with the sealing bolt storage groove (121) and the fixing bolt installation hole (122) when the license plate mounting bracket body (110) comes into contact with the vehicle body.

[0065] Meanwhile, such an outer frame (130) forms the exterior of the license plate mounting base body (110) and simultaneously provides torsional rigidity to the bottom plate (120).

[0066] And, the storage space formed by the forward height (h2) protruding forward has a plurality of elastic fixing pieces (131) for fixing the stored non-perforated number plate.

[0067] Such an elastic fixing piece (131) can be formed integrally with the outer frame (130) or added in the form of a fixing clip made of a material such as metal, and is not limited to any specific shape and structure of elastic fixing piece (131), and can be various elastic fixing means that secure a non-perforated number plate by pushing it from the front to the rear into the storage space, and once secured, the non-perforated number plate is not separated without being damaged.

[0068] That is, the elastic fixing piece (131) prevents the non-perforated number plate from being separated once it has been stored in the storage space, thereby preventing the loss or theft of the number plate and preventing the non-perforated number plate from being damaged and unable to be reused during the process of forcibly separating it.

[0070] Meanwhile, the outer frame (130) described above may further include a height adjustment auxiliary frame (132) that is fastened to the rear of the outer frame (130) to adjust the rear height (h1) of the outer frame (130), as shown in FIG. 6, a drawing for explaining the height adjustment auxiliary frame of a non-perforated number plate mounting stand for installing a non-perforated number plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt of the present invention.

[0071] This is to accommodate sealing bolts (10) of various lengths. After making the rear height (h1) of the outer frame (130) as low as possible, if it is necessary to accommodate a sealing bolt (10) formed relatively long, the height adjustment auxiliary frame (132) is used to raise the overall rear height (h1) of the outer frame (130) so that the sealing bolt (10) formed relatively long does not protrude.

[0073] FIG. 7 is a drawing showing an embodiment of a non-perforated number plate mounting bracket (100) according to the present invention having such technical features, for installing a non-perforated number plate on a vehicle equipped with a sealing bolt according to the present invention, and is an embodiment in which the sealing bolt storage groove (121) according to the present invention is formed with a through hole (121-1) and a sleeve (121-2).

[0074] The above through hole (121-1) is formed in a position where a sealing bolt (10) installed on the rear (R) of the vehicle passes through and is exposed, as shown in (a) of FIG. 7.

[0075] As shown in FIG. 7, the sleeve (121-2) is inserted into and seated in the through hole (121-1). It has a cylindrical shape that can be inserted into the through hole (121-1) and has a predetermined depth in which a sealing bolt (10) can be accommodated. One side has an outer protruding ridge (s1) that protrudes outward and contacts the bottom plate (120), and the other side has an inner protruding ridge (s2) that protrudes inward and contacts the fixing pin (P).

[0076] When using such a sleeve (121-2), as shown in (b) of FIG. 7, the sleeve (121-2) is seated in the through hole (121-1) while the sealing bolt (10) is exposed through the through hole (121-1), and after attaching the fixing pin (P) to the sealing bolt (10), the sealing bolt (10) is rotated using a tool such as a screwdriver so that it enters the direction of the vehicle body, thereby the sealing bolt (10) is stored inside the sleeve (121-2), and the non-perforated number plate mounting bracket (100) according to the present invention is fixed to the vehicle body as the fixing pin (P) comes into contact with the inner protruding ledge (s2) of the sleeve (121-2), and subsequently, as shown in (c) of FIG. 7, the non-perforated number plate (c) can be installed without interference with the sealing bolt (10).

[0078] Although the present invention has been described above based on preferred embodiments, the technical concept of the present invention is not limited thereto, and it is obvious to those skilled in the art that modifications or changes can be made within the scope described in the claims, and such modifications or changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
