Abstract

This utility model pertains to biotechnology, specifically to nutrient media compositions and a method for culturing microalgae. It can be used to produce chlorella biomass for use as a food supplement, animal feed additive, as well as in pharmaceuticals and agronomy. The technical result consists of achieving safe and optimal ingredient concentrations in a medium that ensures acceptable biomass growth during chlorella cultivation. The proposed method is as follows. The following food additives are dissolved in 1 liter of tap water for cultivating Chlorella microalgae: potassium bicarbonate – 0.25 g, orthophosphoric acid – 0.143 g, potassium nitrate – up to 1.0 g; and the medicinal product – magnesium sulfate – in an amount of 0.072 g. Tap water and sea salt, added in quantities of 0.1-0.4 g depending on the calcium, iron, vanadium, and molybdenum content of the tap water, are also a source of essential nutrients. Other food additives and non-toxic medications may be added in concentrations not exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations in tap water, as well as substances containing iron, iodine, selenium, and other substances. During the first day of cultivation, the source of carbon dioxide is the chemical reaction between orthophosphoric acid and potassium bicarbonate. Maximum permissible concentrations of the chemical components of the nutrient mixture are measured and monitored in the laboratory during preparation, when adding nutrients, and when collecting the finished chlorella suspension. Cultivation is carried out under the following conditions: illumination 5000-7000 lux, medium temperature 26-30°C, medium pH about 7, starting from the second day after the introduction of the mother culture, carbon dioxide is bubbling into the culture liquid; when the pH increases above 7, the supply of carbon dioxide is increased until the pH drops to 6-7.
