Abstract

This utility model relates to industrial biotechnology and microbiological synthesis of polysaccharides, specifically to a nutrient medium for producing bacterial cellulose. The nutrient medium contains a carbon source, a nitrogen source, a buffer system, ethanol, and water. Reducing sugars obtained from brewers' spent grain (BSG) hydrolysate are used as the carbon source, and soluble organic nitrogen obtained from autolysate and / or protease hydrolysate of brewers' yeast (SBY) is used as the nitrogen source. The medium additionally contains peptone, disodium phosphate (Na₂HPO₄), and citric acid, with the pH of the medium adjusted to 5.5–6.5 before cultivation. The technical result consists in ensuring reproducible biosynthesis of bacterial cellulose while simultaneously reducing the cost of the cultivation process by using by-products of brewing production as the main sources of carbon and nitrogen. The utility model can be used for cultivating bacteria of the genus Komagataeibacter in laboratory and industrial conditions in the production of bacterial cellulose for the food and materials science industries.
