Abstract

The invention belongs to the building materials industry and can be applied to expand the range of building logs, beams and other large-sized construction products. Fiberglass reinforcement is additionally added to the engineered wood composite, comprising a two-component polyurethane binder and hemp shives filler, in the following ratio of components, % by weight, calculating the amounts of materials contained in the components: hemp shives filler 30-70%; polyurethane adhesive 30-70%; and fiberglass reinforcement, which is calculated per cross-sectional area of the engineered wood composite in units of dm2 – 10-40. A method for producing a reinforced engineered wood composite, which includes preparing a two-component polyurethane binder, preparing a moulding mixture from hemp shives and polyurethane binder, mixing it to a homogeneous mass, pouring it into a mould, inserting the reinforcement, pressing, maintaining it in the mould after pressing and removing it from the mould. Before preparing the moulding mixture, the hemp shives are crushed and sieved through a 10 mm sieve. The sieved shives are treated with a sodium hydroxide solution in order to improve the formation of contact zones between the polyurethane binding material and the hemp shives. In the first step, the prepared hemp shives are mixed with the prepared polyurethane binder for a specified time until a homogeneous mass is formed. In the second step, part of the mixture is spread into an even layer in the mould. In the third step, reinforcement is placed on the surface of the mixture at equal distances. In the fourth step, another portion of the mixture is placed on the reinforcement with the mixture in an even layer. If several layers of reinforcement are applied, then the third and fourth steps are repeated. In the fifth step, the prepared mixture with reinforcement is pressed to 20-70% of the initial volume of the moulding mixture and held under pressure for 5-30 minutes.
