Abstract
Controlling the energy-flow of heating gas through a gas supply pipe to a coke-oven battery is performed by adjusting a control-loop set-point vector ({S} = {S1, S2}). The set-point vector ({S}) has a first vector element (S1) to control the operation of a first actuator in the gas supply pipe, and a second vector element (S2) to control the operation of a second actuator in the gas supply pipe. A computer receives (410) a first preliminary set-point vector ({S}1 from a calculation module with pre-defined rules that processes parameter data that represent the operation of the coke-oven battery. A pre-trained machine-learning module, processes (420) the parameter data to obtain a second preliminary set-point vector ({S}2. For both preliminary set-point vectors, the computer predicts energy-consumption. In case of a predicted consumption decrease, the computer processes (450) both preliminary set-point vectors to determine the control-loop set-point vector ({S} and adjusts (470) the control-loop set-point vector ({S}) for at least one of the actuators.
