Top charging device for coke oven battery

Abstract

A top charging device for charging coal to a charging hole of a coke oven battery comprising a horizontal screw-feeder with a charging port and a discharging port, said screw-feeder being configured for being fixedly mounted with its charging port below an opening of a coal hopper, a vertical telescopic charging chute mounted to a frame movable in a horizontal plane, said charging chute comprising a top inlet section, a telescopic middle section and a bottom outlet section, wherein the horizontal movement of the frame is controllable to position the bottom outlet section above the charging hole and the telescopic middle section is controllably extendable to sealingly engage the charging hole, wherein a sealing box is mounted to the frame above the telescopic charging chute, said sealing box having a bottom opening in sealing contact with the inlet section of the charging chute and wherein the discharging port of the screw-feeder is sealingly received through a lateral wall of the sealing box and sealingly held by at least one flexible seal.
