Abstract

The present invention provides an etherification-oxidation method for preparing cellulose nanomaterials. Plant fibers with low cellulose content are used as raw materials. Specifically, the plant fibers are subjected to pretreatment, etherification treatment, and alkali treatment, followed by mechanical crushing to obtain plant fiber powder. The plant fiber powder is then subjected to TEMPO oxidation treatment and high-speed stirring to obtain a plant fiber powder suspension. Subsequently, the suspension undergoes centrifugation treatment, dispersion treatment, and freeze drying to yield plant cellulose nanowhiskers. The method provided by the present invention features a simple process, high yield, and low energy consumption. Moreover, no toxic or harmful substances are discharged during the production process, which endows the method with great potential for large-scale application. The plant fibers that can be used include jute, various straws, cotton stalk barks, etc., all of which are widely available and low-cost. Therefore, the present invention not only helps address environmental concerns but also significantly enhances the added value of plant fibers.
