Abstract
System for a vehicle comprising to the activated network: a bidirectional DC power source; an electric machine comprising a rotor and a stator, in which the stator includes a first excitation winding and a second field winding which are electromagnetically coupled; a first control circuit functionally connected to the first field winding and comprising an input configured to be coupled to the network; and a second control circuit functionally connected to the second field winding, and also coupled to the bidirectional DC power source. The electric machine has two modes of operation: in a first mode of operation, the first control circuit excites the first field winding so as to supply energy from the bidirectional DC energy source to the first field winding, and in which the second control circuit energizes the second excitation winding in synchronism with the first field winding so as to supply energy from the bidirectional DC energy source to the second field winding; and, in a second mode of operation, the first control circuit excites the first field winding so as to supply grid energy to the first field winding, and in which the second inductor winding is excited by the first field winding so as to supply grid energy to the bidirectional energy source. The stator comprises a plurality of pole segments, each pole segment comprising a first pole tooth and a second pole tooth, in which at least some of the pole segments carry a respective winding arrangement, and in which the winding arrangement comprises a first field winding portion realized about the first pole tooth and a second field winding portion carried around the second pole tooth.
