AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Solar thermal power generation systems using molten salt as a heating medium face issues with excessively high exhaust gas temperatures in low-load operations, which can damage turbine blades and reduce power generation efficiency, and existing cooling methods are either ineffective or costly.

Method used

A method and system that control the quantity of molten salt supplied to a reheater to maintain the reheated steam temperature between 370°C and 430°C, using a reheater molten salt quantity control process, to prevent excessive temperature rises in low-pressure turbines without increasing costs.

Benefits of technology

This approach enhances the durability of low-pressure turbines and maintains high power generation efficiency by effectively managing exhaust gas temperatures during low-load operations.

Abstract

The invention relates to a solar thermal power generation system and a method for controlling such a system, which can improve the durability of the low-pressure turbine by eliminating the temperature rise in the turbine's exhaust gases and, at the same time, achieve higher energy production efficiency. In the solar thermal power generation system 100, molten salt is supplied to the superheater 32 and the heater 34, and electrical energy is generated by means of a high-pressure turbine 36 and a low-pressure turbine 38.In a low load operation with a load ratio not exceeding a predetermined load ratio relative to the nominal load of the solar thermal power generation system, the temperature of the reheated steam to be supplied to the low pressure turbine 38 is detected to control the quantity mr of molten salt to be supplied to the heater 34 and to ensure that the temperature of the reheated steam does not exceed 450 °c.
