Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of control devices for locking / unlocking systems of an opening element such as a window or door leaf. More particularly, it relates to devices that can be sold separately from the opening elements for on-site installation on cremone-type locking / unlocking hardware. Specifically, the invention relates to control devices surface-mounted on an opening element's jamb.
[0002] The control devices used to operate the locking / unlocking of cremone-type locking / unlocking hardware embedded in the stile of a door or window, and comprising a rotating handle, are well known. This handle operates via a square spindle that fits into the female square, known as the "follower," of the cremone bolt, thus transforming the rotational movement of the handle into a linear movement of the locking / unlocking mechanism along the stile of the door or window. This locking / unlocking mechanism generally consists of at least one rod, and most often two rods.
[0003] The opening of the door is generally achieved by rotation around a pivot axis.
[0004] The operating handle is generally surface-mounted on a sash, so that its rotation occurs around the spindle, which is mounted transversely to the sash. The handle is typically attached to the sash via a mounting plate that forms the base of the operating handle. This plate is screwed into screw holes in the locking mechanism, located on either side of a central hole that forms the spindle, through which the spindle passes. A common spacing between the mounting holes is 43 mm, so the mounting plate forms a base with a height of at least 50 millimeters. Such a plate occupies a relatively large surface area on the sash and can create an aesthetic effect that some find unsightly.
[0005] The aesthetics of windows or doors are evolving towards a clean style, tending to seek out handles with a reduced base size.
[0006] Patent application EP2894280A1 describes a control device for a window locking / unlocking system with a cremone bolt. The device comprises a rotating handle for operating the actuating spindle, which engages with the cremone bolt's spindle. The operating handle has a reduced base. According to this device, the actuating spindle is held in place by a retaining clip on the rear of a front panel of a window profile that receives the various elements of the window locking / unlocking system, and in front of the cremone bolt. The square shaft forming the actuating square is thus retained in a clamping plate, which is movable in translation along said square shaft and which is fixed against the rear of said wall and in a base present on the front face of said wall receiving the handle, by means of screws and nuts securing the two parts by passing through fixing holes made in said wall, said square shaft also passing through a hole made in said wall between said fixing holes. The cremone bolt mechanism is disposed at the rear of said clamping plate, said cremone bolt being further equipped with a specific plate adapted to receive guide pins mounted at the rear of the clamping plate to guide said plate relative to the cremone bolt, the end of the square shaft passing through the cremone bolt's follower. A device according to the preamble of claim 1 is described in DE 18 95 040 U.One drawback of such a device, in which the actuating square is held at the front wall of the profile, upstream of the cremone bolt, is its lack of strength and / or stability if the wall is thin and / or has surface irregularities. Furthermore, the stress on the cremone rods is significant. Another disadvantage is that the cremone bolt must be specifically adapted to this device.
[0007] The invention aims to provide a control device for a cremone bolt locking / unlocking system in which the rotating operating member of the actuating square has a reduced-sized base, without the drawbacks mentioned above. It aims to provide a new, robust device. It also aims to provide a device that can be mounted on standard cremone bolts.
[0008] To this end, the invention provides a control device for a cremone bolt locking / unlocking system for a door or window, comprising a rotary actuating member for the spindle that engages with the cremone bolt follower. This control device is surface-mounted on a door or window jamb. The spindle is a square actuating module with a square actuating head extending into a body. The module's body is associated with receiving means inserted into a recess in the rotary actuating member. According to the invention, the module's head is associated with retaining means for holding the module in place on the cremone bolt follower, as described in claim 1.
[0009] Preferably, according to the invention, the rotating operating member of the actuating square is a support comprising a hollowed-out portion receiving the receiving means of the body of the square module. Preferably, said member comprises a removable cover providing access to said hollowed-out portion when it is removed.
[0010] According to the invention, the body of the square module includes at least one threaded part associated with adjustment means, to adjust the device to be applied to a jamb of the opening, according to the thickness of the jamb or profile forming the front of the jamb of the opening for example, and according to the play during assembly.
[0011] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said receiving means for the body of the square module also serve as adjustment means for the surface-mounted device. In other words, said receiving means also have an adjustment function for the device. These receiving means form adjustment means by means of an adjustment between an adjustment receiver piece inserted in the rotating operating member and the body of the square module.
[0012] According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the receiving and / or adjusting means comprise an internally threaded adjusting ring receiving the cylindrical body of the square module, which has on its outer perimeter a threaded part screwing into said ring.
[0013] According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the square module and the adjustment means are joined together by a screw-nut type connection.
[0014] Preferably, a key pin locks the screw / nut type connection between the square module and said adjustment means, thus ensuring the transfer of torque from the rotating operating member of the actuating square to the cremone via the square module.
[0015] According to a variant of the invention, the square module is in the form of a rod with a generally square cross-section having at its external end intended to be inserted into the female square of a cremone bolt, a square cross-section actuation head carrying retention means at the level of the cremone bolt, and extending from it a parallelepiped body with a generally square cross-section having a threaded groove.
[0016] According to this variant, advantageously, the body of the square module is integral with an adjustment screw present in the rotating operating member, said adjustment screw being introduced into a receiving ring of the body of the square module, until it comes into contact by screwing into the thread of said threaded groove and being further locked in said ring, so that the square module can translate itself longitudinally more or less deeply in said ring when the said adjustment screw is screwed in.
[0017] Advantageously also, the receiving ring of the body of the square module is held fixed in the rotating operating member by grooves projecting on the external walls of said ring which fit into corresponding hollow grooves made in the internal wall of said rotating operating member, thus ensuring the transfer of torque from the operating member to the cremone via the square module.
[0018] Preferably, the device according to the invention comprises a collar fixed around the opening of the hollowed-out portion of the support containing the receiving means for the body of the square module, and through which the body of the square module passes. The collar is applied to the receiving post of the control device. Advantageously, a housing may be provided to conceal this collar.
[0019] Advantageously, according to this embodiment of the invention, the collar has indexing marks and is fixedly arranged around a movable indexing ring that rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the rotating operating member, such that the collar and the indexing ring cooperate to index different rotational positions of the operating member. These different positions correspond to the different types of openings provided for the sash.
[0020] The invention also relates to a locking / unlocking assembly for an opening comprising a cremone-type locking / unlocking fitting and a control device for the locking / unlocking system of the fitting comprising an actuating square engaging in the cremone follower, said control device being mounted by retention at the level of the cremone follower and being as described above.
[0021] The invention also relates to an opening, in particular one that opens by rotation around a pivot axis, comprising a cremone-type locking / unlocking fitting embedded in one of its uprights and comprising, on the surface of this upright, a control device for the locking / unlocking system comprising an actuating square that engages in the cremone's spindle, said control device being affixed on the surface of the upright without a fixing base, by retention at the level of the cremone's spindle, and being as described above.

[0023] THE figures 1 to 3 are related to a control device according to the invention 1 shown mounted on a cremone bolt 2 by means of a square module 30 shown in figure 3A .
[0024] The control device 1 comprises a rotating operating handle including a hollow lever 10 made up of two parts: a hollow part 101 receiving the actuating elements, and a part 102 forming a removable cover. The actuating elements according to the invention comprise a square module 30 having at one end a square actuating head 301 extending from a threaded cylindrical body. The square head 301 includes a housing 303 open on part of its surface and receiving a retaining screw 40. The square head 301 is intended to be inserted into the spindle (female square) 20 of the cremone bolt 2 to move the locking / unlocking elements of the cremone bolt by rotating the lever. The retaining screw 40 is inserted through the externally threaded cylindrical body 302 of the square module, via an internal bore of said body forming a hollow axis eccentric to the axis of revolution of the cylinder and opening to form the open receiving recess in the square head, so that the threaded end of said screw 40 is located between the leather and the flesh at the female square of the cremone bolt. When this self-tightening screw is tightened, thread impressions are created inside the follower 20, which will retain the square module in the cremone bolt. Furthermore, the square module is retained at its opposite end in the hollowed-out handle by a screw-nut connection, by screwing the external thread of its cylindrical body 302 into an internally threaded cylindrical receiving piece 50, inserted into the handle as an extension of the square module.According to this example, the receiving part 50 has an adjustment function; it consists of two complementary parts 501 and 500 which join to form a ring acting as a nut for the threaded body of the square module. A flange 80 is positioned at the outlet of the handle 100 and around the square module. This flange forms the base of the control device. This flange has a very small diameter and occupies a very small area around the handle. Advantageously, a cover will conceal it. Preferably, the flange 80 has indexing marks and is fixed around a rotating indexing ring 70, which rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the square head's operating handle, so that the flange and the indexing ring cooperate to index different rotation positions of the handle 10 corresponding to the different types of opening intended for the sash.
[0025] The adjustment piece 50 also allows the mounting plate of the control device 1 on the sash to be adapted to the thickness of the sash by screwing the square module more or less deeply into the adjustment piece. The sash is not shown here but can easily be imagined between the cremone bolt 2 and the control device 1, with the cremone bolt housing inserted into the sash and the handle mounted on the front of the sash.
[0026] Once the assembly is properly adjusted in depth according to the thickness of the jamb and to compensate for any play in the handle assembly, a key pin 60 is inserted to lock the screw / nut connection between the square module and the adjustment piece, thus ensuring the transfer of torque from the operating lever to the cremone bolt housing via the square module. In this example, the pin is inserted between the adjustment piece 50 and the inside of the lever 10. In this example, the pin is longitudinal and is positioned lengthwise in a longitudinal groove machined into the surface of the adjustment piece.
[0027] THE figures 4 to 6 represent an uninvented variant of the control device. This device, shown mounted on a cremone bolt 2, differs principally from the one shown in figures 1 to 3 And 3Aby the square module used. According to this variant, the square module used 31 is represented alone in figure 6A .
[0028] The control device of the figures 4 to 6The device comprises a rotating handle including a hollowed-out support 11 made up of two parts: a hollowed-out part 111 receiving the actuating elements, and a part 112 forming a removable cover. The actuating elements according to the invention comprise a square module 31 having at one end a square actuating head 311 extending from a threaded cylindrical body 312. The square head 311 is U-shaped, between the arms of which is an orifice 313 receiving a retaining screw 41. The cylindrical body 312 of the square module includes a hollow shaft 3120 along the axis of revolution of the cylinder, which opens into the space between the arms of the U of the square head 311 to form the receiving orifice 313.The retaining screw 41 is inserted into this hollow shaft 3120, the threaded part of the screw passing through the orifice 313 and when an operator screws by action on the head of the screw on the opposite side, the screw spreads the two arms of the square head apart, which has the effect of locking the square head of the module in the female square 20 of the cremone 2, the screw being of a sufficient diameter and adapted to fulfill this action.
[0029] As before, the square module 31 is held in the stand by a pinned screw-nut type connection, between the externally threaded body 312 of the square module and an internally threaded receiving ring 51 with an adjustment function, composed of two complementary parts 510, 511. A key pin 61 in the form of a two-pronged pin according to this particular example is inserted between the inside of the hollowed part 11 of the stand and the adjustment ring 51, the prongs of the pin coming to be positioned on the respective opposite grooves of the parts 510, 511, composing said adjustment ring.
[0030] As before, a collar 81 is fixedly positioned in the opening 110 of the hollowed-out part of the support, and around the cylindrical body of the square module. Preferably, this collar has indexing marks that cooperate with those of an indexing ring 71 that rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the support, which controls the rotation of the square module.
[0031] THE figures 7 and 8 represent another variant, outside the scope of this invention, of the control device. This device, shown mounted on a cremone bolt 2, differs primarily from the one shown in the figures 1 to 6 by the square module used.
[0032] The control device of the figures 7 and 8It comprises a rotating handle including a hollowed-out support 12, as described above, and composed of two parts: a hollowed-out part receiving the actuating elements, and a part forming a removable cover. The actuating elements according to the invention comprise a square module 32 having at one end a male actuating square 321 extending from a threaded cylindrical body. The male square 321 is in the form of a square-section rod provided at its external end with a retaining pin 42, preferably arranged along the longitudinal axis of the module. The head of said pin protrudes from the external end of the square rod so that once the square rod is inserted into the follower 20 (female square) of the cremone bolt, the head of said pin emerges on the other side of the follower. A retaining means 90 is attached to the pin to cooperate with said pin in order to retain the square module in the cremone bolt follower. This additional retaining device is, as shown in this example, press-fitted around the body of the stud between the head of said stud and the surface of the cremone bolt, the head of said stud opening on the other side of the follower. In this example, the retaining device is of the locking washer or circlip type.
[0033] The control device according to this variant is otherwise composed as before of a receiving ring with internally threaded adjustment function to which is fixed the externally threaded cylindrical body of the square module by a pinned screw-nut type connection, as well as the other elements also previously described.
[0034] THE figures 9 to 11represent a variant of the control device according to the invention. This device, shown mounted on a cremone bolt 2, differs mainly from that shown in the preceding Figures 1 to 8 by the square module and the adjustment means used. According to this variant, the square module 34 is shown alone in figure 11A .
[0035] The control device illustrated in figures 9 to 11 It comprises a rotating control handle including a lever 14 made up of two parts: a hollowed part 141 receiving the actuation members, and a part 142 forming a removable cover. The actuation members according to the invention comprise a square actuation module 34 in the form of a rod with a generally square cross-section having, at its external end intended to be inserted into the female square of a cremone bolt, a square-section actuation head 341, extending from a parallelepiped body with a substantially square cross-section.
[0036] The body of the square module comprises two screw-receiving areas recessed into two of its opposite faces: on the one hand, a longitudinal threaded groove 340 receiving an adjustment screw 62, on its upper face as shown in the example, and on the other hand, as shown in this example, on its lower face, a longitudinal channel 344 which terminates at the head 341 of the module with a threaded portion 3440, receiving a retaining screw 44. This retaining screw 44 is inserted, during the assembly of the square module by inserting the square head into the follower, into the receiving channel 344 opening at the end of the square head so that the threaded end of the screw 44 is located between the leather and the flesh at the female square of the cremone bolt, and when the said self-tightening screw is tightened, the thread impressions of the screw are cut into the inside of the follower 20 which will retain the square module in the cremone.
[0037] Advantageously, the square head 341 terminates, at its free end, in a beveled shape, as in this example, with a chamfered face on its lower surface, and includes on its opposite face (upper surface) projecting retaining elements 343, 342, which cooperate with the retaining screw to ensure better retention of the square module in the spindle. This chamfered face allows the square head to be easily inserted into the cremone bolt spindle despite the presence of projecting elements. These projecting elements include a groove 343 arranged transversely at the beveled outer end of the square head, which will fit into a receiving space at the level of the cremone bolt 2 or possibly the sash, just above and at the rear of the female square 20.The square rod also includes a stop element, in this example in the form of another gadroon 342 arranged transversely on the upper face of the head where the head has a square section, therefore outside the beveled area, which limits the penetration of the square module into the female square of the cremone.
[0038] Furthermore, the square module 34 is engaged in the recessed portion of the support 141 by an adjustment screw 62 located in a receiving ring 52 of the square module body. The ring is composed of two complementary hollow cylindrical parts 520, 521, forming a ring with a square inner cross-section suitable for receiving and engaging with the free, square-section end of the square module body. The inner walls of the ring are smooth (unthreaded) as shown in this example. The adjustment screw 62 is inserted into the receiving ring 52 until it engages by screwing into the threaded groove 340 of the square module body. The adjusting screw 62 is locked in the receiving ring 52 because the end of the screw in the threaded groove 340 is held against the inner protrusion of the outermost wall of said ring, so that the end of the body of the square module can penetrate, by longitudinal translation, to a greater or lesser depth into the ring when the adjusting screw is tightened. Furthermore, the ring is held fixed in the hollow cylindrical part of the handle by grooves projecting from its outer walls, which fit into corresponding recessed grooves in the inner wall of said cylindrical part of the handle, thus ensuring the transfer of torque from the operating handle to the cremone bolt housing via the square module.
[0039] As before, a collar 82 is fixedly positioned at the outlet of the cylindrical opening in the recessed part of the handle, and around the body of the square module. This collar forms the base of the control device, which is surface-mounted on a sash, and is extremely small in size. Preferably, this collar has indexing marks that cooperate with those of an indexing ring 72, which rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the handle, thus controlling the rotation of the head of the square module.
[0040] THE Figures 12 and 13 illustrate an uninvented variant of the control device shown in figures 9 to 11 This device, shown mounted on a cremone bolt 2, differs mainly from the one shown in the figures 9 to 11 by the square end of the square module engaged in the 20th follower of the cremone bolt.
[0041] According to this example, the square module 33 has a square-section head 331 with a longitudinally drilled channel 330 at its end, centered in the square stem as shown in this example. This channel is designed to receive a retaining screw 43, which is inserted during the assembly of the square module by inserting the square head into the follower from the front of the follower. The screw is then inserted into the receiving channel from the rear of the follower. A plug 91, pierced with an opening through which the body of the screw passes, is attached to this retaining screw. The plug 91 is pressed into the rear of the follower. The plug 91 receives the free end 3310 of the square module head, which has beveled faces, into which the screw is screwed. When tightened onto the module 33 by the screw 43, the plug 91 deforms according to the principle of clamping wedges to provide additional frictional support for the module-plug assembly within the follower.
[0042] The control device according to this variant is otherwise composed as previously described in figures 9 to 11 of a receiving ring of the square module body and an adjustment screw, the square module body which includes a threaded groove receiving the adjustment screw, as well as the other elements also previously described.
[0043] Instead of a removable cover as described for the support, it is possible to put a simple plug to close the part of the support receiving the various drive elements (on the side opposite to the one that will be applied to the opening pillar).
[0044] The preceding description clearly explains how the invention achieves its objectives. It provides a control device for a cremone bolt-type locking / unlocking mechanism that can be used with any type of cremone bolt, regardless of the presence or position of fixing holes in the cremone bolt, and without requiring a mounting plate. The fact that the actuating square is part of a square module held in place on the cremone bolt side, at the level of the cremone bolt's follower, results in a robust control device and minimizes stress on the locking / unlocking components (the rods) of the cremone bolt.
[0045] The invention is particularly applicable to window or door openings, especially interior hinged doors. Furthermore, the handle of said control device can be used for other hardware systems, such as those for sliding doors, to create a cohesive look in a home, for example.
