Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates in particular to a sliding glazing guide, in particular for automobiles, and to a sliding glazing equipped with such a guide. Document WO 2014 / 191812 A1 discloses a guide according to the preamble of claim 1. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] In the automotive industry, for aesthetic reasons, it has already been proposed to guide a sliding window so that it is laterally flush with the outer surface of a vertical trim element of a door frame adjacent to the window. This vertical element is generally a frame jamb or an external vertical trim piece fitted to the frame, such as a B-pillar on the vehicle. The flushness of the window relative to this vertical element is commonly referred to as "flush" in English, because the outer face of the window lies approximately in the same lateral plane as that of this vertical element.
[0003] In what follows, the terms "axially internal" and "axially external" will be used conventionally to designate the position of a part laterally towards the inside and outside of the motor vehicle, respectively, with reference to the axial direction Y, which is by definition perpendicular to the plane XZ defined by the horizontal longitudinal direction X and the vertical direction Z of the vehicle (see the figure 1 attached to this description).
[0004] In a motor vehicle of this type, a door frame is equipped with a sliding seal 10 intended to receive the sliding glazing 12 ( figure 1). This glazing 12 is equipped with at least one guide 14 attached and fixed to a surface of the glazing and capable of guiding it longitudinally in sliding, vertically, directly in a groove of the seal 10. The sliding seal 10 generally comprises two ascending strands 10b connected to each other by an upper strand 10a. One or each ascending strand has a substantially U-shaped cross-section comprising two axially internal and external branches connected to each other by an axial connecting branch, and which receives the glazing flush laterally with the jamb of the corresponding door frame or with the vertical trim fitting this frame (with in some cases this frame being hidden by the glazing).
[0005] A glazing guide 14 generally has an elongated body with a base extending along the elongation axis A of the body. One face of this base is intended to be applied and fixed to a surface of the glazing 12a, for example, an internal surface.
[0006] In certain configurations, the guide 14 can cooperate by sliding with the sliding joint, and in particular with a flexible sealing lip of this sliding joint. The lip can be in contact with a face 14aa of the base 14a, opposite the aforementioned face applied to the glazing surface 12a, and can slide on it during the movements of the glazing, which are schematically represented by the double arrow F. The lip is thus designed to slide on the face 14aa, in a direction parallel to the axis A of extension of the guide body, over substantially the entire length of the guide.
[0007] However, in the current technique schematically represented at the figure 1a , when the glazing 12 slides or is stopped in a given vertical position in the sliding joint 10, a portion of the lip 16 of the sliding joint extends substantially above a free longitudinal end, in particular the upper end 14e of the guide 14, and is separated from the glazing surface 12a by a gap J ( figure 1a This gap J is unsatisfactory because it allows air to pass through and therefore does not guarantee a perfect seal around the glazing. This gap is due to the thickness of the longitudinal base 14a of the guide 14, which is applied to the surface of the glazing 12a. This thickness is significant and creates a "step" that the lip 16 must overcome to slide between the guide 14 and the glazing surface 12a, and vice versa. This drawback currently leads to the avoidance of having the seal lip cooperate directly with the guide. Instead, the lip 16 cooperates directly with the glazing surface 12a, as can be seen in the figures 3 and 4This has the negative consequence of an axial oversizing of the sliding joint which must span the guide so that at least one of its lips 16 can be located beyond the guide to cooperate with the glazing surface.
[0008] The Applicant's earlier application EP-A1-3 102 448 proposes a solution in which one of the lips of the sliding joint cooperates with an axial leg 14b of the guide, but this also involves a significant "step" to slide from the guide to the glazing surface 12a.
[0009] The invention offers a simple, effective and economical solution to these problems. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] The invention proposes for this purpose a sliding glazing guide, in particular for automobiles, said guide being intended to be attached and fixed to a glazing and to cooperate with a sliding seal, said guide comprising an elongated body and having a longitudinal base extending along the axis of elongation of the body and of which a first face is intended to be applied and fixed to a glazing surface and a second opposite face is intended to cooperate by sliding with said seal, characterized in that said base has at least one free longitudinal end a thinned portion whose thickness, in a direction substantially perpendicular to said first face, decreases at least in the longitudinal direction so that said second face is flush with said glazing surface at the level of said at least one free end.
[0011] The guide, as designed, allows the sliding seal lip to engage with the guide's longitudinal base, rather than its leg. This reduces the "step" that needs to be compensated for via the thinned portion. Furthermore, the guide's shape and this contact with the base, rather than the leg, also allow for a reduction in the guide's thickness and width, thus improving the overall compactness of the sealing system (guide and sliding seal dimensions).
[0012] The guide according to the invention may comprise one or more of the following features, taken individually or in combination with each other: said thinned portion has a thickness that decreases from a thickness E1 substantially equal to the maximum thickness of said base, down to a thickness E2, E1 being between 1 and 5 mm, and preferably between 2 and 3 mm, E2 being less than E1 / 5, and preferably E1 / 10, E2 being between 0.01 and 1 mm, and preferably between 0.01 and 0.5 mm, said portion has a longitudinal dimension representing between 1 and 10%, and preferably between 2 and 5%, of the total longitudinal dimension of said body, said thinned portion has a width that decreases in the longitudinal direction so that said free end has a width less than the maximum width of the body and / or of said base, said thinned portion has a thickness that also decreases in the transverse direction, said thinned portion comprises a single connecting surface of said second face to said glazing surface; herein, "single connecting surface" is understood to meana surface without sharp edges and therefore smooth or without discontinuity, said connecting surface has in longitudinal section a slightly convex curved shape, said connecting surface comprises a first longitudinal end defining said free end, and a second longitudinal end connected to said second face, the angle α formed in a longitudinal plane substantially perpendicular to said first face, between said glazing surface and a tangent to said connecting surface at the level of said first longitudinal end, being between 150 and 180°, and / or the angle β formed in the same plane between said second face and a tangent to said connecting surface at the level of said second longitudinal end, being between 180 and 210°, said body further comprises a longitudinal leg connected to said base and intended to extend at a distance from said glazing, said leg extends over only a portion of the longitudinal dimension of said base, said thinned portion is set longitudinally apart from said leg, said leg includes at least one retaining hook, said body is formed from a single piece, ,
[0013] The invention also relates to a sliding glazing unit, particularly for automobiles, comprising glazing and at least one guide as described above.
[0014] The guide can be attached to the glazing by gluing or overmolding.
[0015] The said guide can be fixed to a screen-printed surface of said glazing.
[0016] The present invention further relates to an assembly comprising a sliding glazing equipped as described above and a sliding seal, said seal comprising a flexible lip of elongated shape whose axis of elongation extends substantially parallel to said axis of elongation of said body, said lip being supported on said second face and able to slide in a longitudinal direction on said second face as well as on said glazing surface while maintaining substantially continuous contact with them.
[0017] The present invention further relates to a module comprising an assembly as described above and a trim piece for a motor vehicle door frame, said trim piece having an external face intended to be substantially aligned with an external face of the glazing. Advantageously, said trim piece has two rims oriented inwards and substantially perpendicular to said external face, a first rim of which is engaged in a groove of an external branch of the sliding joint and a second rim of which serves as a support for an intermediate branch of the sliding joint. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0019] There figure 2 shows an assembly within the meaning of the invention, this assembly comprising a sliding joint 10 and a sliding glazing equipped 12, for a motor vehicle.
[0020] The sliding joint 10 is intended to be mounted on a (non-visible) frame of a front or rear door of the motor vehicle to receive the glazing 12 during its upward and downward sliding in the vertical direction Z of the vehicle.
[0021] The sliding joint 10 typically includes: an upper strand 10a substantially horizontal or inclined extending in the longitudinal direction X of the vehicle, and two ascending strands 10b connected to the upper strand 10a for example by means of short molded fittings 10c.
[0022] There figure 5 is a schematic cross-sectional view along line III-III of the figure 2 and allows you to view: the sliding joint 10, the glazing 12 mounted to slide in the joint 10, a guide 14 attached to an internal face 12a of the glazing 12 in the immediate vicinity of at least one of its vertical edges (i.e. in particular the rear vertical edge) and capable of guiding the glazing in sliding in the joint 10 in an offset manner in the direction X, and an external vertical trim 18 of the door frame 20 adjacent to the glazing 12 and forming for example a center post trim, with the axially external surface of which the glazing 12 is mounted laterally flush (i.e. in the same substantially vertical plane P, called "flush" mounting in English).
[0023] In the example of the figure 5, the joint 10 is entirely made in one piece from elastomeric materials of different hardnesses, and it generally has an asymmetric U shape with two axially internal branches 21 and external branches 22 which each extend substantially in the longitudinal direction X in cross section and which are connected to each other by an axial connecting branch 23 forming the core of the U.
[0024] Internal branch 21 essentially comprises: a rigid main portion 21a (for example, based on a rigid PVC or rubber) extending substantially in the X direction, which is mounted on an internal structure 18b, for example, an L-shaped structure of the center pillar trim 18a by means of inwardly axially directed projections 21b, 21c, including an internal deformable projection 21b which is provided like a hinge at the junction between the connecting arm 23 and the internal arm 21 and which forms a lip for attaching to the structure 18b, and a flexible sealing lip 21e (for example, based on a flexible PVC), this lip 21e being oriented outwards and extending obliquely (inclined towards the connecting arm 23) from the end of the main portion 21a and being designed to bear tightly against an inwardly oriented face 14aa of the guide 14,It being specified that the junction between the main portion 21a and the end lip 21e can form a projection 21g with a substantially C-shaped cross-section, which is intended to be applied to one end of an internal trim piece 18c fitting the door frame 20.
[0025] The essentially rigid connecting branch 23 (for example based on a rigid TPV such as that of the main portion 21a of the internal branch 21) extends axially outwards from the internal deformable projection 21b to the external branch 22.
[0026] Branch 23 is also supported here in the X direction on an internal axial rim 18aa of the trim 18
[0027] The external branch 22 essentially comprises: an axial groove 22a open on the inside, one edge of which is formed by the connecting arm 23 and the other edge by a rigid bead 22b extending axially inwards and whose apex 22ba cooperates with an external surface of the guide 14; on its external face, the bead 22b is hollowed out and includes an axial groove 22bb open outwards to accommodate an internal rim 18d of the trim piece 18, and an external flexible sealing lip 22d (for example, such as the internal sealing lips 21e and 21f and the internal deformable projection 22b, based on a flexible TPV) which forms the free end of the external arm 22 from the rigid bead 22b and which comprises: * a first oblique portion 22e which is axially curved outwards to a rounded external apex S of the lip 22d substantially located at rest in the median plane of the glazing 12 and the trim 18, and which is designed to be mounted hermetically in contact with a vertical edge 18a of the external trim 18, and * a second oblique end portion 22f which extends the first portion 22e by being axially curved inwards from the external apex S and which is designed to be mounted diagonally in contact with an axially internal part of the vertical edge 12b of the glazing 12 ending inwards and opposite the inner face 12a of the glazing 12.
[0028] The guide or each guide 14 is made for example of a plastic material such as a polyamide, or a POM or a PP, or even another material, and extends at least over an upper area of the vertical edge 12b of the glazing 12.
[0029] Guide 14 is more visible at the figure 8 , and includes an elongated body having a base 14a extending along the axis A of elongation of the body and of which a first face, here external 14ab, is intended to be applied and fixed on the glazing surface 12a and a second opposite face, here internal 14aa, is intended to cooperate by sliding with the seal 10 and in particular the lip 21e, along the longitudinal direction of the guide, that is to say substantially in the vertical direction in the example shown.
[0030] The base 14a is integral with the glazing surface 12a and extends near and along the edge 12b. It has a maximum thickness denoted Emax (in the Y direction) and a maximum width denoted Lmax (in the X direction). The maximum length of the guide 14 (in the Z direction) depends in particular on that of the glass 12 to be guided.
[0031] The body of the guide 14 further includes an axial leg 14b which extends the base 14a in an offset manner in the X direction, against which the bead 12b presses (on the external face 14bb of the leg 14b near its free end - figure 5 ).
[0032] As seen at the figure 5, the guide 14 has in cross section a general S shape of which the lower portion is formed by the base 14a, here substantially flat and extending substantially in a plane R1, the upper portion of which is formed by the leg 14b, substantially flat and extending substantially in a plane R2, and an intermediate portion connecting these lower and upper portions, extends substantially in a plane R3, inclined with respect to R1 and R2.
[0033] The guide 14 further includes at the free end of its leg 14b at least one axial hook 14c curved axially outwards and intended to be engaged in the groove 22a extending between the bead 2b and the arm 23 of the sliding joint 10.
[0034] In the variant of Figures 6 and 7 , the sliding joint 10' illustrated by at least one of its two ascending strands 10b has the following characteristics.
[0035] The joint 10' is entirely made in one piece from elastomeric materials of different hardnesses, and it generally has an asymmetric U shape with two axially internal branches 21 and external branches 22 which each extend substantially in the longitudinal direction X in cross section and which are connected to each other by an axial connecting branch 23 forming the core of the U.
[0036] Internal branch 21 is similar to that of the embodiment of the figure 5 except that its main portion 21a has two flexible sealing lips 21e and 21f, which comprise: * an intermediate lip 21e which extends axially outwards and which is designed to press tightly against an inward-facing face 14aa of the guide 14, and * an outward-facing end lip 21f which extends obliquely (inclined towards the connecting arm 23) the end of the main portion 21a and which is designed to press tightly against the internal surface 12a of the glazing 12 well below the guide 14, it being specified that the junction between the main portion 21a and the end lip 21f can form the projection 21g with a substantially C-shaped cross-section, which is intended to be applied to one end of the internal trim 18c fitting the door frame 20.
[0037] The connecting branch 23 is similar to that of the previous embodiment.
[0038] The external branch 22 is similar to that of the previous embodiment.
[0039] There figure 6shows that the guide 14' includes at the free end of its leg 14b at least one axial hook 14c curved axially outwards and intended to be engaged in the groove 22a extending between the bead 22b and the arm 23 of the sliding joint 10.
[0040] There figure 7 shows that this hook 14c does not extend over the entire longitudinal dimension of the guide 14, the cut being made at a distance from the hook(s) 14c.
[0041] There figure 7 can also be considered as illustrating a variant embodiment of the guide 14' without the aforementioned hook. This type of guide 14' can be mounted on the glazing surface 12a, along an edge opposite to that along which a guide 14 with a hook 14c extends.
[0042] The invention applies to the guides 14, 14' and sliding joints 10, 10' of the figures 5 to 7 .
[0043] According to the invention, the base 14a of the guide 14, 14' comprises at least one free longitudinal end a thinned portion 14d whose thickness E, in a direction substantially perpendicular to the face 14aa, decreases at least in the longitudinal direction (axis A) so that the face 14aa is flush with the glazing surface 12a at the level of this free end ( figure 8 ).
[0044] THE figures 8 to 11 These figures allow us to visualize the thinning of the free end, here the upper end, of the guide 14, 14' and in particular of its base 14a. As can be seen in these figures, the leg 14b, which also has an elongated shape along its axis, does not extend to the free ends of the base. The upper free ends of the base 14a and the leg 14b are separated from each other in the longitudinal or Y direction. In other words, the length of the guide 14, 14' is determined by the length of the base 14b, which is less than the length of the leg 14b.
[0045] In the example shown, leg 14b includes at least two retaining hooks 14c near its longitudinal ends ( figure 8 ).
[0046] The thinned portion 14d of the guide 14, 14' has a thickness E which decreases from a thickness E1 substantially equal to the maximum thickness Emax of the base, down to a thickness E2.
[0047] For example, E1 is between 1 and 5 mm, and preferably between 2 and 3 mm. Also for example, E2 is less than E1 / 5, and preferably less than E1 / 10. E2 can be between 0.01 and 1 mm, and preferably between 0.01 and 0.5 mm, for example.
[0048] In the example shown, the thinned portion 14d has a width that decreases in the longitudinal direction so that said free end has a width less than the maximum width Lmax of the body and / or base 14a.
[0049] Advantageously, the thinned portion 14d comprises a single connecting surface 14da from the face 14aa to the glazing surface 12aa. This connecting surface 14da is designed to be in contact with the lip 21e and to cooperate by sliding with this lip as it moves from the face 14aa to the glazing surface 12a. The surface 14da is therefore continuous, i.e., without sharp edges, to ensure continuous sliding contact of the lip 21e.
[0050] We observe on the figure 11 that this connecting surface 14da has a slightly convex curved shape in longitudinal section.
[0051] The connecting surface 14da comprises a first longitudinal end defining the free end of the base 14a, and a second opposite longitudinal end connected to the face 14aa. The angle α formed in a longitudinal plane U substantially perpendicular to the face 14ab, between the glazing surface 12a and a tangent T1 to the connecting surface 14da at the level of the first longitudinal end, is between 150° and 180°. The angle β formed in the same plane U between the face 14ab and a tangent T2 to the connecting surface 14da at the level of the second longitudinal end, is between 180° and 210°.
[0052] The guide 14, 14' is formed here in one piece. It is attached to the glazing surface 12 by bonding or overmolding. It can be fixed to a screen-printed (internal) surface of the glazing to prevent the guide from being visible through the glazing to someone outside the vehicle.
[0053] The assembly shown in the drawings and comprising the sliding glazing 12 equipped with the guide 14, 14' and the sliding joint 10, 10', operates in the following way.
[0054] In the lowered or retracted position, the sliding glazing is located inside the door, and its guide 14, 14' may be some distance from the sliding joint and, in particular, from the lip 21e. During the glazing's movement, the lip slides on the glazing surface 12a until it comes into contact with the tapered portion 14d of the guide. Due to the aforementioned flushness and the minimal step or lack thereof between the tapered portion 14d and the glazing surface, the lip slides smoothly on the tapered portion 14da without any play with the glazing surface 12a. As the glazing slides, the lip 21e slides along faces 14da and 14aa, until the thinned portion 14d reaches the molded joint 10c between the strands 10a, 10b of the sliding joint 10. In this position, the lip 21a is located at the molded joint 10c, as illustrated in the Figure 10, and can pass from the connecting surface 14da to the glazing surface 12a by passing in the axial direction X. Advantageously, the thinned portion 14d also has a thickness which also decreases in the transverse direction, so as not to have a step and therefore no play in the transverse direction between the lip 21e and the guide, on the one hand, and between the lip 21e and the glazing surface 12a, on the other hand.
[0055] Although the glazing is equipped with two guides in the examples shown, only one may suffice. Furthermore, overall, for a movable glazing unit, only one guide requires at least one hook, while the thinner sections are recommended for both guides.
[0056] The invention eliminates the "step" of the prior art, thus ensuring continuous contact and a constant seal between the gasket and the guide, and between the gasket and the glazing surface, particularly at the free end of the guide, all within the smallest possible space (especially in the axial direction X). This is made possible by a thinner guide, which allows for optimal contact between the bearing and sliding surfaces of the gasket on the guide and the glazing surface.
[0057] It is important to note that the lips 21e, 21f are visible at figures 9 to 11are represented in their free state without constraint. They appear partly inside the glazing but it must naturally be considered that they are intended to bear on the glazing surface 12a in a compressed or constrained state and to cooperate by sliding respectively on the glazing surface 12a for the lip 21f, and the face 14aa and the glazing surface 12a for the lip 21e.
