SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WATER TREATMENT BY REVERSE OSMOSIS OR NANOFILTRATION

Abstract

The present invention relates to a system and method for treating feed water, the system comprising at least one reverse osmosis or nanofiltration unit that receives a feed under high pressure and produces a concentrate which is directed to and maintained at low pressure in a concentrate accumulator. Generally, the incoming permeate or feed water is maintained at a constant flow rate. Periodically, the system is switched from mode 1, or normal operating process, to mode 2, where the concentrate is drained from the concentrate accumulator. However, in mode 2, the feed water is still directed into the system and through the reverse osmosis or nanofiltration unit, which produces the permeate and concentrate.
