Abstract
The invention relates to an environmentally friendly and innovative process, "a formulation based on the bacterial strains Pseudomonas aeruginosa PQ517005 and Bacillus subtilis PQ517008," for the control and treatment of Dactylopius opuntia (cactus mealybug) infestations on Opuntia ficusindica. The invention also relates to a method for preparing and applying said strain under optimal conditions for improved control of the cactus disease. The strain has been filed with the National Center for Biotechnology Information under the registration numbers PQ517005 and PQ517008 by our research team. The proposed treatment is harmless to both the health of the cacti and the environment, and significantly reduces mealybug populations while improving the growth and resistance of the host plants. The invention offers a safer and more sustainable alternative to conventional chemical treatments, providing improved plant resistance and integrated pest management (IPM) for sustainable agriculture.
