Description

[0001] FAUCET WITH WOODEN COATING AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SUCH A FAUCET

[0002] DESCRIPTION

[0003] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention has as its object a tap component usable for sanitary water supply and / or a furniture component, as well as a process of manufacturing thereof. The present invention can be applied in the field of taps and furniture for both domestic use, e.g. for environments such as kitchens and bathrooms, and for commercial use, e.g. for hotels, restaurants, spas and gyms.

[0005] BACKGROUND ART

[0006] Sanitary taps are provided with a tap body that comprises two inlets, respectively for hot and cold water, and a lever to adjust the flow rate of water exiting from the tap, as well as its temperature; the lever is active on a mixer that acts as a partition valve for the flow coming from the inlets. The water passes through the tap body, constituted by a duct that conveys water from the mixer to the tap outlet, at which there is a diffuser or aerator. Taps known nowadays are generally made of a brass-bronze alloy or steel.

[0007] Although metal taps are nowadays widely used, the Applicant has found that they are not without limitations and drawbacks. The Applicant has found in fact that metallic taps require appropriate treatments in order to obtain the necessary corrosion resistance and to meet the required hygiene standards; furthermore, the metallic materials nowadays used are rather expensive and difficult to process. In addition, the treatments necessary for the processing of taps made of metallic material require the use of a large quantity of chemicals, a condition that affects negatively the costs of disposing of manufacturing waste.

[0008] Another typology of tap is described in patent applications n. CN104964079A and CN101709792A; this tap has a body made of two pieces entirely of bamboo: in particular, the body is constituted by a vertical support presenting a lateral hole in which it is engaged a nozzle to define the outlet of the tap. In the vertical support it is housed a valve for the adjustment of the water flow; the water flowing from the valve passes directly through the vertical support until it reaches the outlet of the nozzle. Although this typology of tap is simple and realizable with low costs, the Applicant has found that even this solution is not without limitations. In fact, the structure of the tap of Chinese application n. CN104964079A, entirely of bamboo, is incapable of ensuring an adequate stability and, above all, fluid tightness, in addition to not ensuring the compliance with the strictest standards of hygiene of the water supplied.

[0009] Another typology of tap made of woody material is described in the patent application n. WC2008104517A1. This tap is constituted too by a body made of two pieces: a vertical support having a lateral hole in which it is engaged a nozzle to define the outlet of the tap. Differently from the above-mentioned Chinese patent application, both the vertical support and the nozzle of the tap body of the PCT application n. WC2008104517A1 comprises a rectilinear inner pipe of metallic material covered by woody material. The tap comprises also a mixer housed in the inner pipe of the vertical support, at a top portion of the tap, and on which a mixer control lever is activated. The cover of woody material is internally covered by a layer of rubber configured to prevent, in the event of water leaking from the inner pipe, the direct contact of water with the woody material to prevent damage thereto.

[0010] Even if the tap described in the patent application n. W02008104517A1 is improved with respect to the above- mentioned applications, the Applicant has found that even the tap described in patent application no. W02008104517A1 and the process of its realization are not without drawbacks. In fact, the Applicant has found how the structure of the body prevents the tap from ensuring fluid tightness. Moreover, the process described in the application requires long times for the treatment of the cover of wood, a condition that further negatively affects the costs.

[0011] In the US patent application No. US 2015 / 0013784 A1 , shower accessories realizable of woody material are also described in a very general way.

[0012] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0013] The object of the present invention is therefore to overcome at least one of the drawbacks and / or limitations of the preceding solutions.

[0014] An object of the present invention is to provide a high value, robust and durable tap and / or furniture component. It is then an object of the present invention to provide a tap and / or furniture component having a simple, easily installable and cost-effective structure. It is also an object of the present invention to provide a tap component capable of effectively ensuring the supply of fluids, i.e. ensuring the sealing of fluids and ensuring a precise supply of water, as well as ensuring that the hygiene standards of the water supplied are complied with, thereby also allowing to reduce water wastes. It is also an object of the present invention to provide a tap component extremely flexible in use, in particular usable to define several components of a wide range of tap products.

[0015] It is also an object of the present invention to provide a process of manufacturing a tap component and / or a furniture component, optionally for the bathroom and / or kitchen environment, for the bathroom and / or kitchen environment, capable of realizing high quality, durable components with reduced production times and costs. Another object of the present invention is to provide a process capable of ensuring the precise realization, optionally also by means of automated processes, of high-quality tap and / or furniture components, e.g. capable of ensuring the sealing of fluids and ensuring a precise water supply.

[0016] These objects and others, which will be more apparent from the following description, are substantially achieved by a tap component and a process of its manufacturing according to one or more of the attached claims and / or the following aspects.

[0091] It is noted that in the present detailed description corresponding parts shown in the various figures are indicated with the same numerical references. Figures may show the object of the invention by means of non-scaled representations; GES1 P11 W0 therefore, parts and components shown in the figures relative to the object of the invention may relate exclusively to schematic representations.

[0092] The terms "horizontal1or "vertical' used in relation to the described tap components, refer to a condition of use thereof, for example, during which the tap component is used for the supply of water.

[0093] The process of manufacturing said tap component and / or furniture component below described and claimed can be performed by means of an apparatus comprising / using at least one control unit in charge of controlling the operative conditions implemented by the apparatus itself and / or controlling the steps of the manufacturing process, such that the manufacturing process can be performed, at least partially, in an automated way. The control unit can be a single unit or be formed by a plurality of different control units depending on design choices and operative requirements.

[0094] With control unit it is intended an electronic component, which can comprise at least one of: a digital processor (CPU), an analogue type circuit, or a combination of one or more digital processors with one or more analogue type circuits. The control unit can be "configured" or "programmed" to perform certain steps: this can be realized in practice with any means that allow to configure or program the control unit. For example, in case of a control unit comprising one or more CPUs and one or more memories, one or more programs can be stored in appropriate memory banks attached to the CPU or CPUs; the program or programs contain instructions which, when performed by the CPU or CPUs, program or configure the control unit to perform the operations described in relation to the control unit. Alternatively, if the control unit is or comprises analogue type circuitry, then the circuit of the control unit can be designed to include circuitry configured, in use, to process electrical signals so as to perform the steps relative to the control unit.

[0095] Parts of the process described can be manufactured by means of a data processing unit, or control unit, technically replaceable with one or more electronic processors conceived for executing a portion of software or firmware program loaded on a memory support. The memory support can also be physically divided into several portions, or in the form of cloud, and the software or firmware program can be physically provide portions stored on memory portions geographically divided among them.

[0098] With “woody material’ or “wood’ it is intended the portion obtainable from the stem of various typologies of woody plants with secondary growth (for example, trees, shrubs, lianas and some grasses), i.e. radially growing at the same time as the plant develops, growth that defines layers of new wood between the old wood and the outermost part of the plant. In particular, with “woody material” or “wood” it is intended the portion, for example tissue, produced by plants as structural element of the plant itself, which can comprise cellulose fibers retained by a lignin matrix.

[0099] In detail, with “woody material’ or “wood’ it is intended material for example presenting at least 20% by weight, optionally at least 50% by weight, of organic material comprising one or more of cellulose, lignin, hemicellulose, deriving from the lignin. The “woody material” or “wood’ can be pure wood or even natural wood or material, a part of woody material and one or more parts of other material, such as binding chemical compounds (glues) and plastic; with “woody material” or “wood” it is intended also wood fiber material obtainable by processing, for example plywood and chipboard.

[0101] With the term “vapour” it is intended the physical state of matter, definable as an aeriform state at a temperature lower than its critical temperature; in case of fluid transition, it is defined as critical the temperature above which a substance cannot exist in the liquid state, even if subjected to compression. In the present discussion with the term “water vapour” it is intended a solution presenting at least 70% by weight, optionally at least 90% by weight, water in the aeriform state.

[0102] With the term “humidity’ it is intended the amount of water or water vapour contained in a mass of air. In particular, with the term “relative humidity’ it is intended the percentage ratio between the amount of vapour contained in a mass of air and the maximum amount (i.e. at saturation) that the volume of air can contain under the same temperature and pressure conditions, i.e. the ratio between the partial pressure of the vapour and the saturation pressure. In other words, with “relative humidity” it is intended the ratio between the absolute humidity and the saturation humidity.

[0103] With the term “absolute humidity” it is intended the density of the water vapour, i.e. the ratio between the mass of the water vapour and the volume containing it.

[0104] With the term “saturation humidity” it is intended the maximum amount of water vapour containable at a predetermined temperature, with the balance between evaporating molecules and condensing molecules.

[0105] DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0106] Tap component

[0107] With 1 it has been overall indicated a tap component installable in environments such as kitchens and bathrooms, wellness centers and gyms. In particular, the tap component 1 object of the present invention can define, by way of example, at least part of a sanitary water dispenser, such as, for example, at least part of a tap body or an operating lever of a tap associable to bathroom sanitary ware (washbasins, bidets, bathtubs) or kitchen accessories, for example sinks. Furthermore, the tap component 1 can define the body mixer or an operating lever of a mixer for sanitary water, in particular of the wall-mounted type (for example, a mixer for shower or bathtub, comprising, for example, also mixers for shower heads, for hand showers or aerators or for sanitary water supply outlets).

[0108] As visible from the attached figures, the tap component 1 comprises at least one insert 2 having elongated shape, extending along a development trajectory T between a first and second end 2b, 2c; as visible, the insert 2 has a dimension (for example length) greater than the other two dimensions, such as for example width and height or, in case of an insert having substantially cylindrical shape, the diameter. In terms of size, the insert 2 can have a length defined by the extension of the development trajectory T, measured between the first and the second end 2b, 2c. The length of the insert 2 can be greater than 60 mm, optionally be between 150 and 600 mm.

[0109] The development trajectory T can be entirely rectilinear as shown in figures 1 B and 2A or can comprise at least one curved section T1 (see example figure 1A). The curved section T1 can have a shape in the form of a circular arc, for example extending along an ideal radius between 50 mm and 250 mm, optionally between 70 and mm and 200 mm. The curved section T1 can have a length between 100 mm and 800 mm, optionally between 200 mm and 600 mm. The trajectory can also comprise a curved section, seamlessly with a rectilinear section T2 (figure 1 A); the rectilinear section T2 can have a length between 70 mm and 300 mm, optionally between 70 mm and 250 mm. If the development trajectory T is entirely rectilinear, it can have a length overall higher than 60 mm, optionally between 150 mm and 600 mm.

[0110] The insert 2 can have, in section, an outer perimeter edge having substantially circular or rectangular shape. The shape of the section can be the same for the whole extension of the development trajectory T or can vary, passing for example from a substantially circular shape to a polygonal one.

[0111] The insert 2 can comprise a pipe defining internally a passage 2a (see for example the section of figure 1A) able to allow the passage of a fluid, such as sanitary water; alternatively, the insert 2 can comprise a body free of openings, for example it can be constituted by a full solid body or a tubular body presenting closures (head closures) at the ends (see for example the section of figure 1 B).

[0112] The insert 2 can be made of metallic material, for example of at least one of the following materials: copper, bronze, brass, brass-bronze alloy, steel.

[0113] In figure 1 it is shown a tap component 1 essentially defined by a tap comprising a tap body and an operating lever. The insert 2 can define both part of the tap body (in this configuration the insert 2 comprises, optionally it is constituted only by, the pipe provided with passage 2a for the supply of sanitary water) and part of the operating lever (in this configuration, the insert 2 comprising a body free of openings).

[0114] Hereinafter, therefore, a first configuration of the insert 2 defined by the pipe will be described, followed by a second configuration of the insert 2 defined by the body free of openings.

[0115] As mentioned, the insert 2, in the first configuration, defines the passage 2a for the passage of fluid, for example sanitary water. The passage 2a of the pipe is passing and extends between the first and the second end 2b, 2c: the pipe, at the first end 2b, has a first passage opening while, at the second end 2c, has a second passage opening in fluid communication with the first passage opening by means of the passage 2a.

[0116] In detail, the pipe has an inner surface 6a delimiting the passage 2a and an outer surface 6b opposite to the inner surface 6a (figure 1 A). The inner surface 6a defines the shape of the passage 2a; the shape of the passage 2a can be identical to the shape of the inner surface 6a and / or of the outer surface 6b, or have a different shape. In the attached figures it has been shown, in a non-limiting way, an inner surface 6a and an outer surface 6b both having, in section, a circular shape. The distance between the inner 6a and outer surface 6b defines the thickness of the pipe which can be between 0,3 and 2 mm, optionally between 0,5 and 1 ,2 mm. The passage 2a of the pipe, in section, can have a diameter between 4 and 20 mm, optionally between 5 and 15 mm. In the first configuration wherein the insert 2 defines the pipe, it can extend along the substantially entirely rectilinear development trajectory T (see for example 2A); in this configuration, the length of the pipe can be greater than 60 mm, optionally between 150 mm and 600 mm. The pipe can also extend along a development trajectory T presenting the curved section T1 and optionally also the rectilinear section T2; in this configuration, the length of the pipe can be the one above described for trajectories T 1 and T2.

[0117] In terms of material, the pipe can be made of at least one of the following materials: copper, bronze, brass, brassbronze alloy, steel, plastic. If, the pipe has an entirely rectilinear configuration, the pipe can be made, but not limited thereto, of steel; in the configuration wherein the pipe has the curved section T1 , the pipe can be made, but not limited thereto, of a material more ductile than steel, optionally can be made entirely of at least one of: copper, bronze, brassbronze alloy.

[0118] Still in the first configuration the insert 2 can be constituted exclusively by the pipe. In this configuration, the pipe defines the inner 6a and outer 6b surfaces: the inner surface is configured to enter in direct contact with the fluid to be supplied while the outer surface 6b, as it will be better described below is in direct contact with a cover 3 of woody material.

[0119] Alternatively, the insert 2 can comprise at least one outer cover (not shown in the attached figures) that covers at least part of the pipe (optionally the outer cover can cover the entire pipe). In this configuration, the outer cover of the insert 2 defines the outer surface 6b of the insert itself configured to directly contact the cover 3 of woody material: in this condition, only the outer cover is in direct contact with the woody cover. The outer cover of the insert 2 can be, at least partially (optionally entirely), of heat-shrink material, for example, the outer cover can be internally of polyolefin.

[0120] The insert 2 can also comprise at least one inner cover (not shown in the attached figures) that covers at least part of the pipe (optionally the inner cover can cover internally the inner surface of the pipe). In this configuration, the inner cover of the insert 2 defines the inner surface 6a of the insert 2 itself configured to directly contact the fluid in passage of the insert: in this condition, only the inner cover is in direct contact with the fluid in passage from the insert 2. The inner cover of the insert 2 can be, at least partially (optionally entirely), of plastic material, for example internally of polyethylene.

[0121] The insert 2 can thus be constituted only by the pipe, or can comprise the pipe covered by means of at least one of said inner and outer cover. If the insert 2 is provided with the inner and outer cover, the pipe is interposed between said covers, wherein the inner cover is configured to directly contact the fluid in passage from the insert while the outer cover is interposed between said pipe and said cover of woody material.

[0122] The insert 2, in the second configuration, is constituted by a body substantially free of openings for the passage of fluids. In this second configuration, the insert 2 can define at least one part (optionally entirely) of an operating lever of a tap, as shown in figures 1 , 1 B, 2, 2A and 3. In this second configuration, the insert 2 comprises only a single outer lateral surface that extends between two head end (or closing) surfaces, defining the first and the second end 2b, 2c of the insert. In section, the insert 2 can have a circular or rectangular shape; in the attached figures, it has been shown, in a non-limiting way, an insert 2 presenting a constant circular section along the whole development trajectory T which is entirely rectilinear (see for example figure 1 B); in this configuration, the length of the insert 2 (defined by the length of the development trajectory T, measured between the first and the second end 2b, 2c) can be between 50 mm and 300 mm, optionally between 60 mm and 150 mm. In terms of material, the single body of the insert 2 in its second configuration can be made of at least one of the following materials: copper, bronze, brass, brass-bronze alloy, steel, plastic.

[0123] As visible from the attached figures, the tap component 1 comprises also at least one cover 3 at least partially of woody material presenting a channel 3a within which it is engaged at least partially the insert 2. In detail, the insert 2 is fixed (firmly locked) in the cover 3. In fact, the cover 3 and the insert 2 (in its first and / or second configuration above described), engaged at least partially in the cover 3, extend along a single development trajectory T, to define essentially a single body.

[0124] In detail, the cover 3 has an inner surface 5a, delimiting the channel 3a, and an opposite outer surface 5b; the inner surface 5a of the cover 3 and the outer surface 6b of the insert 2 are at least partially in contact and at least partially countershaped; in a preferred but not limiting embodiment of the invention, the inner surface 5a of the channel 3a of the cover 3 is substantially entirely countershaped to the outer surface 6b of the insert 2 (both in the first and in the second configuration of the insert 2 above described).

[0125] In greater detail, the inner surface 5a of the cover can have, in section, a circular or rectangular shape, substantially constant along the whole development trajectory T: this section allows the insertion and the engagement of the insert 2. The outer surface 5b of the cover 3 can be countershaped to the inner surface 5a, or can have a different shape; in the attached figures it has been shown, in a non-limiting way, an inner surface 5a and an outer surface 5b of the cover 3 having, in section, a substantially circular shape. The distance between the inner 5a and outer surface 5b of the cover define the thickness thereof, which can be between 1 and 30 mm, optionally between 1 and 20 mm.

[0126] The channel 3a, in section, can define a section of passage able to receive the insert 2 between 18 and 700 mm2, optionally 25 and 350 mm2. If the inner surface 5a is of a circular shape, the channel 3a of the cover 3, in section, has a diameter between 5 and 30 mm, optionally between 6 and 20 mm.

[0127] The cover 3 is in a single piece and extends along the development trajectory T between a respective first and second end 3b, 3c; the channel 3a of the cover 3 is passing and extends between the first and the second end 3b, 3c of the same cover 3. The length of the cover 3 is defined by the extension of the development trajectory T, defined between the first and the second end 3b, 3c of the cover 3 itself. The cover 3, at the first end 3b, has a first passage opening while, at the second end 3c, has a second passage opening in fluid communication with the first passage opening by means of the channel 3a.

[0128] The insert 2 (both in the first and in the second configuration above described) can be entirely housed in the channel 3a of the cover 3 or protrude from said channel 3a. The ratio between the length of the insert 2 and the length of the cover 3 can be between 0,8 and 1,2, optionally between 0,9 and 1 ,1. In figure 1A it has been shown an insert 2, in shape of a pipe, presenting a length substantially equal to the length of the cover 3. In fact, the first end 2b of the insert (both in the first and in the second configuration above described) of the insert 2 can be placed at the first end 3b of the cover 3 while the second end of the insert (both in the first and in the second configuration above described) can be placed at the second end 3c of the cover 3.

[0129] In the pipe configuration of the insert 2, the first end 2b of the pipe can be placed in the channel 3a of the cover 3 such that said first end 2b of the pipe is facing the first passage opening of the cover 3; still in this configuration, also the second end 2c of the pipe can be placed in the channel 3a of the cover 3 such that the second end 2c of the pipe of GES1 P11 W0 the insert 2 is facing the second passage opening of the cover 3. In fact, insert 2 and cover 3 substantially follow the same development trajectory, which can have only a rectilinear section (figure 2), only a curved section or be constituted by a curved section T1 seamlessly with a rectilinear section T2 (figure 1), having substantially the lengths described above for the development section.

[0130] In terms of materials, the cover 3 is in a single piece, optionally made entirely of woody material; in particular, the cover 3 can be made of at least one of the following materials: bamboo, walnut, wenge, spruce, larch. In a preferred but not limiting embodiment shape of the invention, the cover 3 is entirely of bamboo, optionally bamboo briar or root.

[0131] As visible from the attached figures, if the tap component 1 (see for example figures 1 , 2 and 3) defines at least part of a tap (or a similar sanitary water dispenser), this tap component 1 can comprise at least one filter 4 in fluid communication with the passage 2a of the pipe defining the insert 2; the filter 4 can comprise essentially an aerator or diffuser and be configured to filter the fluid coming from the pipe of the insert 2. The filter 4 is directly engaged to the pipe of the insert 2, for example by means of a threaded coupling or can be engaged to the inner surface 5a of the cover. In detail, the filter 4 is engaged to the second end 2c of the insert 2, in direct fluid communication with the second passage opening of the pipe of the insert 2 to receive and filter the water exiting from the pipe.

[0132] Still if the tap component 1 (see for example figures 1 A, 1 B and 2A) defines at least part of a tap (or a similar dispenser of sanitary water), this tap component 1 can comprise at least one water mixer M, for example of known type, configured to mix hot and cold water flows, by adjusting at the same time the outlet flow rate. For example, the mixer M can have: a mixing chamber, a hot water inlet 7a configured to enter a hot water flow in the mixing chamber, a cold water inlet 7b configured to enter a cold water flow in the mixing chamber, a mixed water outlet 7c configured to allow the release of hot and cold mixed water from the mixing chamber, a command element configured to adjust the entry of hot and cold water into the mixing chamber respectively from the inlets of hot and cold water.

[0133] The outlet 7a of the mixer M can be in fluid communication with the passage 2a of the pipe of the insert 2, usable for the supply of mixed water coming from the mixer M. The mixer M can be partially housed in the cover 3 (figure 2A) or be housed in a base B engageable to a support, such as for example a sink, a washbasin, a wall, a bathtub (see for example figures 1A, 1 B).

[0134] In figure 1 it has been shown a tap component 1 defining essentially a tap installable for example on sinks, washbasins or bathtubs. The tap component 1 comprises, in a non-limiting way, a base in which there is a mixer M; the outlet of the mixer is in fluid communication with the pipe of the insert 2 placed in the cover 3: pipe of the insert and cover 3 define the tap body suitable for guiding the flow of water from the mixer M to the diffuser / aerator 4. The pipe of the insert 2 and the cover 3 of figure 1 extend for a section along a rectilinear direction (section T2) and for a further section according to a configuration in the form of a circular arc (section T1). The base B of the tap component 1 carries, furthermore, an operating lever of the mixer M defined by the insert 2 housed in the cover 3; in this configuration, insert 2 and cover 3 extend, in a non-limiting way, along a rectilinear development trajectory (figure 1 B).

[0135] In use, the tap body of figure 1 extends substantially in vertical while the operating lever develops horizontally. In figure 2 it has been shown a further tap component 1 defining essentially a tap installable for example on sinks, washbasins or bathtubs. The tap component 1 comprises, in a non-limiting way, a base from which protrudes the tap body comprising the pipe of the insert 2 placed in the cover 3. The tap body of figure 2 is, in a non-limiting way, made of two pieces; a first vertical section comprises an insert 2 in the form of a pipe wrapped by the cover: in the cover 3 further than the pipe it is housed the mixer M. The mixer can be, in a non-limiting way, arranged opposed to the base B, i.e., in use, at a top portion of the tap body. The cover 3 and the pipe of the first vertical section have a lateral opening from which extends a second horizontal section of the tap body; this second section comprises a respective pipe covered by the cover 3, which define essentially a water outlet nozzle of a tap, at the end thereof there is the diffuser / aerator.

[0136] Both the sections of the tap body extend along respective rectilinear development trajectories.

[0137] Opposite to the base B, the tap comprises an operating lever defined too by the insert 2 housed in the cover 3; in this configuration, insert 2 and cover 3 extend, in a non-limiting way, along a rectilinear development trajectory.

[0138] In the figure 3 it is shown a further tap component 1 defining a tap of the wall-mountable type. The tap component 1 comprises, in a non-limiting way, at least one base B from which protrudes the tap comprising the pipe of the insert 2 placed in the cover 3. The tap body of figure 2 is, in a non-limiting way, in one piece and extends along a rectilinear development trajectory, horizontal when in use. The mixer M can be, in a non-limiting way, carried by a part of base B separated from the part of the base directly carrying the tap body.

[0139] As above described, the insert 2 can be in direct contact with the cover 3 of woody material. In an embodiment not shown in the attached figures, the tap component 1 can comprise one or more further covers (for example the outer and / or inner cover of the insert 2). For example, if the tap component is provided with the outer cover, placed around the pipe of the insert 2, this outer cover covers substantially the entire outer surface of the insert 2 (optionally of the pipe of the insert 2); the outer cover can therefore be interposed between said pipe of the insert 2 and said cover 3 and configured to prevent that any condensation that can form on the outside of the pipe of the insert 2 enters in direct contact with the cover 3 of woody material; the condensation could in fact, in the long term, damage the woody material of the cover 3; the further outer cover of the insert 2 can define substantially a protective element for the cover 3.

[0140] The inner cover of the pipe of the insert 2, in addition to increase the inner protection of the cover 3 of woody material delaying temperature changes of the copper tube, can be certified for food grade, a condition that allows to prevent unwanted contaminations of the fluid in passage from the tap.

[0141] Furniture component

[0142] The present invention further concerns a furniture component for environments such as kitchens and bathrooms, which for commercial use, for example for hotels, restaurants, wellness centres and gyms. For example, the furniture component can comprise at least one of: one or more parts of a towel holder, one or more parts of a soap holder, one or more parts of a toilet brush, one or more parts of a toilet brush holder, one or more parts of a razor holder, one or more parts of a bathroom glass holder, one or more parts of a toilet paper holder, one or more parts of a handle, one or more parts of a wall support for the bathroom and / or for the kitchen. In the attached figures, it has been shown, in a non-limiting way, only a tap component. However, the present invention refers to said furniture tap which can comprise the cover 3 and the insert 2, according to the description above indicated for the tap component 1.

[0143] Process of manufacturing a tap component and / or a furniture component

[0144] It also forms object of the present invention a process of manufacturing a tap component 1 and / or a furniture component, optionally according to the above indicated description and / or according to the attached claims.

[0145] The process provides the arrangement of a semi-finished product 70 (see for example block 101 of figure 5) optionally elongated, at least partially of woody material, extending longitudinally along a predetermined trajectory W. In detail, the elongated semi-finished product 70 extends along the predetermined trajectory W between a first and second end 70a, 70b; the semi-finished product 70 can have a length, defined by the extension of the predetermined trajectory W measured between the first and the second end 70a, 70b, which can be greater than 50 mm, optionally between 60 mm and 600 mm. In terms of shape, the semi-finished product 70 has, in section, an outer perimeter edge having circular or rectangular shape. In terms of materials, the semi-finished product 70 is made at least partially of: bamboo, walnut, wenge, spruce, larch. In a preferred but non-limiting embodiment of the invention, the semi-finished product 70 is entirely of bamboo, optionally of bamboo briar or root.

[0146] The process provides the execution, for a predetermined time, of at least one wetting treatment of the semi-finished product 70 which allows to wet the semi-finished product 70, making the semi-finished product 70 workable. The wetting treatment can be performed by means of immersion of the semi-finished product in a liquid solution, for example water-based or by means of at least one vapour treatment (or also named step of vapour treatment). In figure 4 it has been schematized, in a non-limiting way, a vapour treatment further identified with block 102 in figure 5. In fact, in relation to the vapour treatment, the semi-finished product 70 is maintained for the predetermined time in an environment wherein it is present vapour such that the woody material of the semi-finished product 70 gets wet.

[0147] In detail, the at least one vapour treatment is performed by means of water vapour in an environment having a relative humidity between 80% and 100%, optionally between 85 % and 99 %. The predetermined time of the vapour treatment of the semi-finished product is greater than 30 minutes, optionally between 1 hour and 5 hours. The time can vary according to the type of material used and according to size of the semi-finished product 70. The at least one vapour treatment can be performed at a controlled temperature, for example greater than 70 °C or 80 °C, optionally between 80 °C and 120 °C or between 85 °C and 100 °C. In greater detail still, the at least one vapour treatment can comprise the following sub-steps: arranging the at least one semi-finished product 70 in a treatment chamber C (figure 4), arranging water vapour in the treatment chamber, wherein the water vapour has a relative humidity between 80 % and 100 %, maintaining the at least said semi-finished product 70 in the treatment chamber C containing water vapour for the predetermined time, optionally between 1 hour and 5 hours, even more optionally at a controlled temperature between 80 °C and 120 °C or between 85 °C and 100 °C. The vapour treatment of the woody material is also defined as vaporization, which can be essentially of two typologies: direct vaporization, indirect vaporization.

[0148] In the direct vaporization, the water vapour is injected into a chamber C containing the wood via a series of perforated tubes located underneath the woody material. The water vapour used is of a saturated or nearly saturated type, and is expanded in chamber C until reaching the atmospheric pressure.

[0149] In the indirect vaporization the water vapour is produced directly inside the chamber C, for example by boiling the water contained in suitable tanks placed underneath the woody material. In the tanks a heating battery can be immersed wherein superheated water or vapour flows as a thermal agent.

[0150] Afterwards (or almost at the end of the at least one vapour treatment), the process provides a step of arranging the semi-finished product 70 such that the predetermined trajectory W is substantially rectilinear (see for example block 103 of figure 5). In fact, this step substantially corresponds to a step of straightening the woody material, which, before this step it can have a deformed, non-regular conformation. This step can be performed by arranging the semi-finished product 70 in a sort of jig, for a predetermined time (for example for a time between 1 hour and 5 hours), suitable for forcing the rectilinear direction of the predetermined trajectory W (figure 4).

[0151] At the end of the step of arranging the semi-finished product 70 along the predetermined rectilinear trajectory W, the process provides also a step of performing a passing channel 71 (see for example block 104 of figure 5) extending between the first and the second end 70a, 70b of the semi-finished product 70 (figure 4). For example, the channel 71 can be made by means of at least one of the following processings of the semi-finished product 70: drilling, milling, reaming.

[0152] The channel 71 can have, in section, a substantially circular shape substantially constant along a whole length of the semi-finished product 70; in detail, the channel 71 extends between: a first passage opening defined at the first end 70a of the semi-finished product 70, a second passage opening defined at the second end 70b of the semi-finished product 70.

[0153] The channel 71, in section, can have a diameter between 5 and 30 mm, optionally between 6 and 20 mm.

[0154] The process, following the step of performing the channel 71, can comprise a step of inserting an insert 80 at least partially into the channel 71 (see for example block 105 of figure 5). The insert 80 can be made at least partially of at least one of the following materials: copper, bronze, brass, brass-bronze alloy, steel, plastic.

[0155] In detail, the process can provide a step of arranging the insert 80 which can be constituted only by a tubular main body of metallic material. Alternatively, the step of arranging the insert can provide the sub-steps of: arranging a tubular main body of metallic material, applying outside the main body an outer cover, optionally of plastic material or of rubber.

[0156] The main body of the insert 80 is made of metallic material, for example of at least one of the following materials: copper, bronze, brass, brass-bronze alloy, steel. The outer cover of the insert 80 is, at least partially (optionally entirely), of heat-shrink material, for example at least partially (optionally entirely), of polyolefin. The outer cover of the insert covers entirely an outer surface of the main body of the same insert; the outer cover of the insert, following the insertion of the latter into the semi-finished product, is interposed between the main body of the insert 80 and the semi-finished product. In fact, only the outer cover of the insert 80 is in direct contact with the semi-finished product. The step of arranging the insert 80 in addition or alternatively to the above description can comprise a step of applying internally to the main body an inner cover, optionally of plastic material. In detail, the inner cover of the insert 80 can be at least partially (optionally entirely) of polyethylene. The inner cover of the insert covers entirely an inner surface of the main body of the same insert. If there are the inner and outer cover, the main body of the insert 80 is interposed between the outer cover and the inner cover of the same insert 80.

[0157] The insert 80 is inserted into the channel 71 through at least one between the first and the second passage opening of the semi-finished product 70 such that the same is then firmly engaged, at least partially, optionally entirely, in the channel 71 of the semi-finished product 70 (figure 4). In detail, the insert 80 has an outer surface at least partially countershaped to an inner surface of the channel 71 ; the insert 80, in section, has an outer perimeter edge having a circular or rectangular shape. The outer surface of the insert 80 is at least partially in contact with an inner surface of the semi-finished product 70 defining the channel 71.

[0158] Also the insert 80 extends longitudinally between a respective first and second end, along a rectilinear development direction: the insert 80 is suitable for being inserted into the channel 71. In detail, the insert 80 can comprise a pipe configured to allow the passage of fluids (for example sanitary water) or a body free of openings (a full solid body or a hollow body closed at the longitudinal ends). The insert 80 has a predetermined length, defined by the distance present between the first and the second end 80a, 80b; the ratio between the length of the insert 80 and the length of the semifinished product 70 is between 0,8 and 1,2; optionally between 0,9 and 1 ,1.

[0159] Right after the step of inserting the insert 80 into the semi-finished product 70, the process can provide a step of drying (see for example block 108 of figure 5). This step can have a duration between 1 hour and 5 hours and be performed in environments with relative humidity lower than 60%, at a temperature between 90 °C and 150 °C. In detail, the step of drying can comprise the following sub-steps: arranging the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70, in a drying cell, maintaining the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70, in the drying cell for a time between 1 hour and 5 hours.

[0160] During the maintenance of the semi-finished product 70 and of the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70 in the drying cell, the process can provide the circulation of air in the drying cell, optionally by means of one or more fans; in detail, the process can provide: a step of suction of air present in the drying cell (for example an oven), and a simultaneous step of injecting air into the drying cell coming from outside and having a relative humidity lower than the relative humidity of the air present in the drying cell.

[0161] In fact, the step of drying can be substantially a kind of artificial drying of woody material that consists of placing one or more articles (in the specific case of the present disclosure, it is intended the semi-finished product 70 containing the insert 80) in suitable ventilated and dry chambers, also named dryers or ovens, the inner environmental air conditions thereof are controlled by means of air-conditioning systems.

[0162] The semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70, at the end of the step of drying are configured to define the at least one tap component 1 (comprising at least one of: a tap body configured to supply water, an operating lever of a tap) and / or the at least one furniture component. GES1 P11 W0

[0163] In greater detail, following the step of drying, in the absence of a step of folding the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80, the process allows to make: the tap component 1 defining the rectilinear operating lever of the tap shown in figures 1, 1 A, 1 B, 2 and 2A, according to the above description, wherein the semi-finished product 70 defines the rectilinear cover 3 of the tap component while the insert 80 defines the insert 2 in its second configuration of the tap component; the tap component 1 defining the rectilinear tap body usable for the supply of water shown in figures 2A and 3 according to the above description, wherein the semi-finished product 70 defines the rectilinear cover 3 of the tap component 1 while the insert 80 defines the pipe of the insert 2 (first configuration of the insert).

[0164] The process as above described can then only have blocks 101-105 and 108 above described and shown in the flow chart of figure 5.

[0165] Furthermore, the process, at the end of the step of drying, can provide further steps of surface finishing the semifinished product 70, for example a step of flaming (see block 109 of figure 5) and / or a step of varnishing (see block 110 of figure 5). These steps allow to vary the aspect of the woody material of the semi-finished product 70 and then of the operating lever of the tap or of the tap body.

[0166] Furthermore, the process can comprise a step of impregnating the semi-finished product 70 of woody material, which can be performed at the same time as the wetting treatment, immediately after this treatment (thus preceding the step of performing the channel 71) or following the step of drying. This does not exclude the possibility of performing this step at any time after the wetting treatment.

[0167] The step of impregnating is performed by means of water- or solvent-based impregnating agents that allow the woody material to be made more durable.

[0168] If it is desired to make a tap body for the supply of sanitary water presenting a curved section, the above-described process can provide further intermediate steps. For example, the process can provide a step of folding the semifinished product and the insert engaged in the semi-finished product (see block 107 of figure 5). In this configuration, the at least one wetting treatment can comprise a vapour treatment (for example water vapour). In detail, the vapour treatment can comprise an initial vapour treatment (see block 102 of figure 5) according to the above description, performed only on the semi-finished product 70, previously the step of arranging the semi-finished product 70 such that the predetermined trajectory W is substantially rectilinear (block 103 of figure 5). In other words, the first vapour treatment is performed to 'soften' the woody material of the semi-finished product in order to allow its correct straightening.

[0169] Afterwards, the process comprises the steps of performing the channel 71 of the semi-finished product 70 and inserting the insert 80 into the channel 71 , engaging with the semi-finished product. At this moment, the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 arranged in the semi-finished product 70 extend both along a predetermined rectilinear trajectory. Afterwards, the semi-finished product 70 and the insert engaged in the same semi-finished product 70, are subjected to a second vapour treatment (see block 106 of figure 5), according to the at least one vapour treatment above described.

[0170] Following the second vapour treatment, the process can comprise the step of folding (see block 107 of figure 5) the semi-finished product 70 together with the insert 80 engaged in the channel 71 of the semi-finished product to define at least one curved portion of said semi-finished product 70 and insert 80. The step of folding can be performed by means of suitable pipe-bending equipment (see schematization of figure 4).

[0171] At the end of the step of folding, the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70 can be subjected to a step of drying (block 108 of figure 5), according to the above-described step of drying.

[0172] The semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70, at the end of the step of drying are configured to define the at least one tap component 1 according to the above description wherein said component defines a tap body configured to supply water, presenting a curved portion.

[0173] In greater detail, following the step of drying, the process allows to make the tap component 1 defining the curved tap body, usable for the supply of water shown in figures 1 and 1A, according to the above description, wherein the semifinished product 70 defines the curved cover 3 of the tap component 1 while the insert 80 defines the curved pipe of the insert 2 (first configuration of the insert).

[0174] Also in this last case, following the step of folding and drying the semi-finished product 70 and the insert 80 engaged in the semi-finished product 70, the process can provide further steps of surface finishing the semi-finished product 70, for example a step of flaming (block 109 of figure 5) and / or a step of varnishing (block 110 of figure 5).

[0175] Also in this configuration, the process can comprise a step of impregnating the semi-finished product 70 of woody material as above described.

[0176] If the process is performed for the manufacturing of tap components, the process can further provide a step of arranging between the insert and the semi-finished product of a cover of plastic material, for example rubber. This plastic cover covers the whole insert avoiding, if there is fluid circulation in the insert, the formation of condensation in direct contact with the semi-finished product, thus preventing a possible damaging of the woody material of said semi-finished product.
