Abstract
The present invention relates to a device capable of generating fibers through a far-field electrospinning process, where, in a preferred embodiment, the generated fibers are usable for producing contact lenses with controlled drug release. As a result of the electrospinning procedure and lens formation, the present invention demonstrates a substantial and advantageous improvement in drug bioavailability, since it reduces the frequency of drug delivery, offering a substantial improvement in drug effectiveness, ensuring adequate ergonomics—that is, high comfort and safety for the patient—while maintaining high transparency, preventing the lenses from causing any unwanted interference to the patient's vision.
